hello everybody. i am new. what is the best size of a tv? it should not be too small to take good snapshots. it should not be too large or heavy to be mailed around the world.

I like them most when they are about 10 -20 cm large, like a large coffee mug. Ty Beanie Babies are the perfect size for me
Those are ok in my opinion, their size is shown in relation to a mug or glass.
Those are extremely large and if they fill a bag I cannot take them everywhere. (The smaller ones are all ok)
If a TV is too small it is not easy to take photos. This turtle was the smallest TV I ever hosted:
Taking landscape photos is really difficult than. You have to take the TV about 50 cm in front of the camera, but than such a tiny toy is almost invisible.
A lot of hosts are taking several TVs with them, so they all should have a suitable size. I also prefer those who can sit on their own.

I like to host a voyager that is the right size to fit in a coat pocket. Then they are ready as soon as I see a photo opportunity and I don't have to stop to get them out of a backpack.
Those photos are handy as a size guide
I will add some too
SORRY THE PHOTOS ARE HUGE, I CAN'T SEEM TO HELP IT.
here Karlie is handy and ready for a photo at all times.
and Mishuta got a good view from here
if I have too many voyagers to carry, I have a special bag for them in which I also keep a log book of their interests and goals and any souvenirs they collect to send to their next hosts as a gift.
I am guilty of having a large TV myself though. He was my first and is about 10 inches, 25cm, is very furry and doesn't squash well.
I am keeping him as a Toy Voyager but I have another smaller one now to do most of the traveling because only a few very kind hosts are able to carry him about and pay for his postage.
|
......................... My son's puppy Sam Sam is travelling home.
My voyagers Baby Gonga is resting and might come home soon and Mi Go is back home for a short rest.
Momo is travelling home to him Mum. Alien Queen and Karlie are still here but are having a rest awaiting further instructions from their Mothers.

@Leslee, I love the drawing and I really like your travel bag. Wow, you are so organized. Thanks for that inspiring pic.
I like the bigger ones and the smaller ones. With the smaller ones, I put one small one in one pocket and my camera in my other pocket and I am ready to go, to take photos wherever, whenever. I love that. However! I was a nervous wreck with HolgiHH and DuDette because they can fall out of whatever so easily. Well, maybe not a nervous wreck all the time but certainly when I reached into their travel bag and couldn't find them right away. I feel a little more comfortable with ones that are big enough that I can't "miss" them when I reach into the travel bag.
So there is no one best size. But be sure to do several updates with photos of your toyvoy before asking someone to host so that a potential host can see its size and get a feel for it. Also, include the size and weight in its profile. My 2 cents and thanks!

I think TVs that not bigger than your palm is perfect,
small enough to take it around and big enough for wide shot photo or close up,
and it is even better if it's the type without beans inside. (this increase weight and so as postage!)

Everyone will have his or her own opinion, but Ranil and Vanilla both have beans inside, which makes them so easy to pose -- not blowing over or needing a prop -- and pretty cuddly. But, everyone, please don't host a toyvoy if you haven't checked out their weight in their profile first. (I am talking to newbie hosts, of course, not experienced ones. )

Kcrawfish you raised a good point there about choosing a voyager that is easy to pose. It really helps a lot if the toy can stand or sit easily on it's own.

I much prefer small toys. Especially since I always have more than one and I carry them in a small bag inside of my purse. If it sits well on it's own, that is a huge bonus.

I really like pocket sized toys. The mini beanie babies are great sized. They can be see pretty well in far shots and they can be popped in a shirt pocket and run around with you easily. That being said, though, so far, I've usually had multiple TVs and use a kanga pouch to carry them around with me. If they are very big, they are expensive to send around and hard to carry around. Coffee cup sized seems good, though, or Shirt pocket sized, ect. I love when they don't have to be propped up, too! A way to hang them or have them sit on their own is good.

I think they are too small and would look blurry in the photos, also they would be hard to hold without having your fingers in the photo...

I think 6,5 it's ok.
I'm hosting a TV which is round 7cm high. (HolgiHH)
My first thought when I saw him "Oh my god. He is to little"
BUT I must say, it's possible to take pictures whith him. So such a little toy could also be a TV :-)

I "rescue" this post because I have a question and I don't want to open a new post.
As I have seen that there are a lot of opinions about the best size of TV, can we do a "summary?
Can we say that a small Tv is less than 10 cm, a medium Tv is between 10-20cm and a big TV is more than 20cm?
Are you agree with this?
Other way, there are some TV that in their profile it's not written their weight/height. Can we put this as a obligatory field?
