Okuma, Okinawa, Japan - 21st June 2008

By: JaymeC

Dear Mommy,
WOW! What a week we had! Jayme took us camping, or well her version of it. This is the cabin we stayed in all week. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_1817.jpg

Its a good thing Gracy and I are small or we wouldn't have fit! The campsite had lots of fun things to do like playing sports. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_1775.jpg

And because it was on a military base, I got to finally get my picture taken with the flags! At all the US bases here in Japan both the US and Japanese flag is flown. They sound colors in the morning and evening and all the military member stand at attention, looking at the flag. Its pretty funny to see the reaction when they have toddlers that don't understand what daddy is doing!

This is the North beach at Okuma. Its very pretty

While we were there we also took a trip to the national forest at the top of the island. Here I am at Cape Hedo, the Northern area of Okinawa!

There was a neat statue there of a bird

Here I am on some rocks along the nature trail. There were lots of them!

There was a portion of the nature trail that was for wheelchairs and strollers. This section had umbrella stands throughout it in case someone got stuck in the rain. This is a very common practice in Okinawa since it rains so much! They also have vending machines for umbrellas for a few hundred yen each.

Finally here I am our last night in front of the fire, but don't worry mommy, Jayme wouldn't let me get burnt!

I'll update again soon!
Love,
Gentle Ben
