Ferry and Medieval Market in Rumpenheim
Hi Mommy,
sorry I have not written for so long, but we were so busy going all over the place that we all were much too tired to write.
Today, Anja took us to the medieval market in Rumpenheim.
Anja always grins when she hears the word "Rumpenheim".
Long ago, she told us, when the movie "Titanic" was playing in the movie theaters, the Frankfurt radio station published a spoof on "Titanic", a "heart rending" mini series called "the sinking of the river Main ferry at Rumpenheim", describing in many catching episodes (with the captain and the passengers speaking Hessian dialect) how the river Main ferry at Rumpenheim sank in the 3 meters deep icy waters of the Main river.
Well, we got to see and even ride this famous ( ) ferry today!
Here we are on the ferry, sitting in the car.
Can you see our butts in the rearview mirror?
a first look at Rumpenheim castle on the other side of the river Main
We parked a little outside of Rumpenheim and walked through the lovely summer day
Inside the castle grounds, there was this lovely old church
and here is the castle
We got to see many beautiful and interesting things at this market
Then Anja found a lovely medieval dress with no sleeves and bought and put it on immediately, because it was a very hot day.
And then the batteries of her camera died, because she had forgotten to recharge them before we left.
Wow, we learned a lot of very interesting German swearwords at this time! That woman can cuss like a truckdriver!
But Anja made us promise not to repeat any of these words here....
All in all, a very interesting day!
Hugs
Terry
