's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands - 13th April 2009

By: Marjolein

And we took a boottrip through the water of 's-Hertogenbosch. It's called the Binnendieze and in the 13th century the city was built around this water. Untill the 1970s it was used as a sewer before that also as transportationway and they brew beer from the water and washed wool in it.

Now it's mostly used to let tourists see the city from below.

The city is built on top of these bricks.

We also went outside the city, outside the citywall.

You can still see an old canon on this wall.

It was really interesting! And I was very happy the water isn't used as a sewer anymore, pfeew that would smell bad!
