Here is the "Counterfeit House" , the story behind this is back in the Civil War time, the folks that lived there made counterfeit bills ...The house featured many boo-boo traps & hidden doors & compartments including the four chimneys the house had, 2 of the chimneys were to heat the home, while the other two were dummies & used to hide the counterfeit money & plates that made the bills....but the pipes led thru the dummy chimneys to make smoke come from them , as ifg they were working....do you see the top window in the attic? (see pics) , well, when people ordered counterfeit money, would come across the river on boats, & they would look for a signal from that window (this would be a light from a lantern) ..if the lantern was light, then the people on the boat would walk up the hill to the counterfeit house & give real cash for counterfiet money (lots of it), if no signal was given, then they knew the money was not ready or something was wrong........There sure is alot of HIstory here!!! this "Counterfeit House" is privately owned...
