Today we went around the town center although it was even colder than at the weekend (-15°C this morning ).
Detmold has an old castle standing in a small park. The lake around it was totally frozen as you can see on the photo.
In Detmold you can also still see a lot of the old half-timbered houses ('Fachwerkhäuser'), which were mostly destroyed in the Second World War in Germany...
Although Detmold only has about 75.000 inhabitants, it has a very old great looking theatre, which was built in 1825 by Prince Leopold II.. I would've loved to see the inside, but it is not open during the day.
On the last picture you can see the Protestant 'Christuskirche' at the 'Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz' in the background.
