Lake Titicaca, Puno, Peru - 15th February 2014
By: Leslie
We are in Puno, a town by the shore of Lake Titicaca. From here we took a tour to the floating islands of the Uros, an indigenous people of Peru. They live in reed houses on artificial floating islands in the lake.
The way the build the islands is by first making the base with reed root cubes and anchoring them to the bottom of the lake, and then covering the whole thing with 1m of reed. They have to replace everything every 6 months because it rots.
We ended our stay in Puno in the Chucuito Fertility Temple. A place full of stone penises. Well...
