Hi, my name is Rodney.  I live in Renton, where I am the mascot of General Accounting.  My job is to protect my accountants against evil spirits, and in return they take me with them to fun places!!

My first adventure out of the office was to Ocean Shores, WA!  Karen was going to a convention for massage therapists, so she tagged me along.  We checked out the convention center, but then luckily, while she was in class, Steve took me hiking in the Olympic National Forest.  It was awesome being able to become one with nature for awhile!

Just returned from sunny Florida!  Boy was it hot.  Colleen and Erin went to a seminar and let me stow away in their purses.  I was so excited, I was going to meet my hero, Mickey Mouse!!  While I was in Florida I went on lots of cool adventures, including riding Splash Mountain and going down a water slide.  We also took a trip to Kennedy Space Center!  I also took plenty of time out for some R&R.  Don't worry, I did get some work done as well!!

Just got back from Las Vegas!!  Talk about my kind of town, everyone being nocturnal there and all.  Colleen, Erin, & Erin brought me along with them on a weekend getaway.  Who knew accountants were so much fun!!  I really really wanted to ride the bull.  No one wanted to take me, but then finally one of the Erin's gave in and took me for a ride.  It was a lot of fun, but I was really scared that I was going to fly out of her pocket and be lost at Gilley's!!

Ooh, i am so excited...  I just found out that next weekend I get to go and meet another Toy Voyager in lovely Auburn, WA.  His name is Kameron, he is #100153, and visiting from Florida.  I have also heard some rumors that I am going to be going to a wedding soon (maybe IN the wedding!!  not sure yet...) and even to some other countries!!  I love having things to look forward to!

I went to Vegas again!  This time I not only took in the sites, but I went to a wedding!  Weddings are fun.  Everyone dresses all pretty and drinks a lot.  What more could you want?

I made it back home...  Looking forward to the next trip, but in the meantime I am enjoying my new BBQ.

I can't believe that I went to Rome!  I really felt at home at the Colloseum, I could feel that some of my rat ancestors must have run free here many years ago...

I also went to Vatican City while I was here, so that's 3 countries I have been to now!!
Rodney

Florence was AWESOME!  I got to have the best lasagna you could ever imagine, as well as tasty gelato every night.  I think I want to return to Florence just for the gelato!  We also got to climb to the top of the Dome at the Duomo.  Luckily Erin held on to me, because I could have slipped right through that railing!

Pisa was pretty cool.  I tried to hold up the Leaning Tower, but my legs are too short.
Rodney

Posted Oct 10, 2006, 5:25 am
Siena was neato, it was a medieval walled city.  I enjoyed spending the afternoon in Il Campo.  I didn't even get any weird looks like I normally do...
Rodney

Posted Oct 10, 2006, 5:31 am
So, apparently the tower in Bologna leans as well.  It, however, is about 14'x14' with little wooden stairs winding around the inside edge.  The center is open.  It is not fun if you do not like heights!  Speaking of heights, the Torre degli Asinelli is a whopping 319 feet.  The tower in Pisa is a mere 183 feet (glad I skipped it).  I did enjoy the view of the city.  From here, I spotted the local H&M for Erin to visit.  That made her a happy camper with a full suitcase.
Rodney

Posted Oct 10, 2006, 5:34 am
The last stop on the tour was London.  I enjoyed Trafalger Square, especially now that the pigeons are gone.  I don't like to have to share the attention with the winged rodents.  Wings make them shifty...  I was also able to spend some quality time relaxing in Hyde park.  What a beautiful day!

AH, back home again...  So, that is 4 countries for me know, right? USA, Italy, United Kingdom, and Vatican City (hey, that counts!)  Over halfway to my mission.

Travelling is fun, but I am glad to be back home for awhile, and spend some time at the beach and the BBQ.  I have to start thinking about my Halloween costume though.  Anyone know where I can get a 2" tall costume? Might have to custom order that one...

Back to Vegas!!  I am becoming quite the regular... This time I got to go to the Jimmy Buffet concert.  It was very fun, I like how relaxed everyone was!

Ah, back home again!  But not for long, I have a lot of exciting plans for the next couple of months!
Rodney

Posted Jan 12, 2007, 2:04 am
Halloween!  I love Halloween.  I even got my custom made costume, off-the-rack just wasn't working out for me.  I even got to choose the color.  I of course chose RED since it brings out my EYES!  The crayon was the perfect choice for me.  What a great party, who would have ever thought, that me, a small rat of a mischevious nature would dressed as a crayon and be hanging out with an 80s bride, a [questionable] nun, and Princess Toadstool?
Rodney

One of my accountant friends took me to a new state!  California!  How exciting.  It was great, I got to go to Disneyland (and went on my favorite rides again, Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear, among others), ate at some tasty restaurants, and hung out at the beach! Best of all, I fell in love.  Tinkerbell, I must meet you...  Until I do, I will stare longingly at your picture and wish you were with me...  She is hot!

Back home...  for about 2 hours.  Seriously.  We flew in and then jumped in the car for a road trip BACK to California...
Rodney

I went up the Hilt!
Rodney

Posted Jan 12, 2007, 3:31 am
And on to San Francisco!  We had a little road trip to go to the Seahawks game...  San Fran was a great time, even if the game had a less than desirable result.  I at least had a fabulous bed at the hotel and got my fortune told!  It said I would continue to have many adventures...

On the way there, we went through Oregon...  I am up to 5 states!

Back to California?  Third time in a month?  I have to find some new places to go.  But alas, this is a business trip, and the accountants needed some serious help on this one.  At least I had some delicious salsa!

Happy New Years!  New Year's Eve was up in Bothell.  I came out to meet Bailey the Cat, however...  Bailey thought I looked a bit like a snack, and I had a bit of a close call.  He was nice for this picture, but this was the last pic that was taken that day.  I was saved, but I really don't want to talk about it anymore...

So....  I am now in the RPP- Rat Protection Program.  I have been getting threatened at work!!  So far, one of the co-workers of my little angel accountants, we'll call him Stan, has threatened to melt my paws together, cut off my tail, and Barbecue me!  :o  So, now I am in hiding, for protection from Da-, er, I mean Stan.  I am bummed because there isn't a beach in the RPP.  grrr.  Good thing the Windjammer Barefoot Cruise is coming up!
Karen4Rodney

Posted Aug 24, 2007, 7:24 pm
I have another great adventure to report!  This time I got to go on a Windjammer Barefoot cruise around the French West Indies. Yay, it was so much fun!  We took the red-eye to Miami & got to fly first class!  We spent a day in Miami acclimating, then we flew to St. Maarten and spent a few days on Orient Beach, then we cruised to St. Bart's, St. Kitt's, Nevis, and Anguilla.  It was a blast, I can't wait to do it again.  I checked out the islands and got to help raise the sails on the ship.  I made lots of new friends, especially Nevis, the ship's kitty, named after her native island.  That makes 8 countries I've been to so far, woohoo!

Yay!  I got to tag along with one of the accountants as she went to a conference in California.  She said she would take me back to the "Happiest Place on Earth," Disneyland, and I am hoping to see my girlfriend Tinkerbell again.  It was great to walk around the park, make new friends, and ride the rides.  I am really happy that the Jungle Cruise didn't get to close to the "wild" animals...that could have been scary.  I do have two new friends, Pluto and Goofy.  They are so much fun!

Yet another fun trip!  I get to go to so many great places!  This time I got to go to the Mile High City.  It was alittle difficult getting used to the higher elevation, but the trip was worth it.  Driving around Denver and out to Aspen was so much fun.  The Rocky mountains are beautiful!  I meant a new friend, Rocco.  He wanted to take me around to see his house, but the accountant didn't want him to take me by the tail.  On the way out to Aspen I got to see Buffalo Bills Grave.  It was interesting to see, but I was worried his ghost may still be there.  We didn't stay long!  I also met another Rodney.  We had drink together at Sing Sing.

Another trip already!  Man am I spoiled...but that is ok...I deserve it.  ;) Today I leave on an Alaskan Cruise.  I am so excited to get out and see the wilderness.  We are going on a huge cruise ship and before we set sail we did have to do a muster drill.  This is where we all have to put on our life jackets and head to our life boat.  We did look around the boat alittle.  I saw the salt water pool and had a great view of the Space Needle.  This is going to be so much fun!

This trip is fantastic!  We have been cruising for 4 days now.  We stopped in Juneau, and to pass the time for our tender boat, we played some cards.  Good thing I didn't have any money on the game...I would have lost.  Each night the room attendant leaves us towel animals.  I really liked the elephant.  Today we are in Skagway.  It is a great little town.  We went on a train ride upto White Pass.  Also, I got my picture with a bear.  ;)

Alas, the cruise had to come to an end.  I have so many great memories though... I got see a whale!  With all my trips recently, I am well on the way to reaching my goal of visiting 18 states.  Now it is time to work on planning my next adventure.

One of my little accountants got married today!  What a great party.  I am a little dissappointed I didn't get to be ring bearer, but I guess I would have blended into the group pictures too much.  I do enjoy my favor though, it is a nice little pencil.  I have been told that there are a hundred extras if I need more...

I had another awesome adventure - this time I explored Fiji.  I got to ride in a tiny twin engine turbo prop plane, and kayak and hike around an island.  I made a few new friends, too.  There was a big cat - I was a little scared until I realized that he had no teeth, and a big toad invited me to a pool party!  I went to the 180th meridian, where the international date line originally stood, and I went down a natural waterslide - scary but exciting and fun!!

Merry Christmas!  This year I got to go to Spokane for Christmas.  It was nice and chill, which was good, since I am finally coming down off the sugar high from that giant cupcake.  While in Spokane, I met a new friend, Murphy.  Murphy is not very good at pictures, this is the two of us, but Murphy wouldn't hold still.  Plus he kept licking me.  Ugh.  It gets so cold when you are all wet!

It snowed a lot that day, so later on I went outside and tried to make snow-rat-angels.  It didnt' work very well, my legs are very short!

Today we have to head back to the west side of the mountains...  The car ride was very entertaining, here is me enjoying the Columbia Gorge!
Rodney the Rat

Ok, so this drive went from sunny to snowy in a hurry.  We have been in the car like 20 hours or something.  (OK, more like 5, but still).  A rat really needs to be able to stretch his legs!

YES!  Finally, I got to go snow skiing!  I was riding along in a beginner lesson, but maybe next time I can go down a quadruple super black diamond run.  Or maybe just a blue hill.  It was pretty fun though.  The skis were a bit big for me. so I did a little freestyle without skis after the lesson was over.  Wheeeee!

I got to go to another accounting symposium this year!  St. Louis here we come.  I got to see the Arch and the Budweiser Brewery, well from the outside.  (although I am dissapointed that I did not meet any clydesdales, I AM friend to all animals.)  I did get to go to the zoo though.  Too bad I can't find my pictures...

I had another exciting adventure!  This time I went with a diving group up to Hornby Island, BC.  It took 3 separate ferries to get there, but it was well worth the trip!  The scenery was beautiful!  I took a nice boat ride and I saw at least 100 eagles and just as many if not more sea lions.  They were so cute!

I have conquered another state: Wisconsin!  I tagged along on a girlfriends weekend and it was lots of fun!  I enjoyed a pre-travel nap with Boo the kitty, I saw Lake Winnebago, visited the statue of Chief Red Bird, shared drinks with Sandra at the comedy club, and got to sample some Wisconsin cheese, which was scrumptious!!

This trip I got to go to Hawaii!  Finally, I have been trying to get there and I got my chance.  I spent most of my time boogie boarding on Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Oahu.  I also got to go to the Worlds Largest Maze (in 2001 anyways) at the Dole Pineapple Plantation.  It is over a mile and a half long, that is REALLY long when your legs are less than quarter of an inch!  It was a great trip though, I really enjoyed working on my tan and soaking up those tropical rays.

Quick 2 day trip to Las Vegas.  It is almost a second home, I have been there so much!  This time was all business though.  I was an attendee at the "Lean Accounting Summit" at the Red Rock Hotel.  The hotel was very nice (I even got my own queen size bed!) and had a lovely pool.  Alas,  the pool was always closed when the conference was over, so I had to settle for some gazing during breakfast...

Today we visited Zion National Park.  What a beautiful place!  We hiked the Watchman trail and Angel's Landing.  My legs are so short though, I didn't make it all the way to Angel's Landing, so here is a picture of me at Scout's Landing.  (Which, by the way, is no measly feat - it was a 1500 foot elevation gain in 2 miles!)

Yay for adding Utah to my state list!
Rodney.T.Rat

Posted Feb 12, 2009, 3:50 am
Next on the list - Bryce Canyon!  I really enjoyed the Hoodoos, they were really amazing.  I can't believe it was only 33 degrees when we started hiking in the morning though!  I really wish I would have brought my scarf.  We did quite a few hikes here, as well as a little off-trail wandering.  Erin had to come and get me before I fell off the edge at Yovimpa Point!
Rodney.T.Rat

Posted Feb 12, 2009, 3:58 am
I can't believe how much hiking we did on this trip!  My little legs are getting really tired.  We went to Arches National Park next.  We hiked over 10 miles in one day!  I had to hitch a ride on some other hikers for parts.  We hiked the Windows, Devil's Garden, and Delicate Arch trails.

The trails in Devil's Garden were marked by a series of cairns across the slickrock.  We had to cross this rock fin that was about 10 feet across with a 100 foot drop on one side, and a 30 foot drop on the other!  I was ready for a break when we got to the other side, luckily there was a rat-sized cairn hut awaiting me there!  Thanks to all of the park employees and enthusiasts who keep those cairns (and cairn huts!) intact!!  It was a great place to kick back and take a load off.
Rodney.T.Rat

Posted Feb 12, 2009, 4:17 am
The last park of the trip was Canyonlands National Park.  We visited this crazy place called Upheaval Dome, did a little rock climbing, checked out the cacti, and visited Mesa Arch.  Mesa Arch is HUGE, so it is very hard to see me.  But I am there!

Oh, and happy birthday to Colin!

If I could only add music to my toy voyager page, it would be DA DA DAAAAAH!  (evil scary music!)  I had a serious incident this weekend.  Let me tell you my story...

Three of my little accountants decided that they would be attending the New Kids on the Block concert (yes, as in late 80s NKOTB I heart Joey, Jordan, John, Donnie, & Danny New Kids...)  Innocent enough, yes, until the jug o' Skyy Vodka appeared.  I went to the Melting Pot with them before hand (fun times, as you can see...) and then I was taken to the concert...  and forgotten about.  On Monday at work, my caretaker for the weekend was asked of my whereabouts...  and couldn't answer!!  Panic ensued.  Luckily, I was just hiding in the bottom of her duffel bag, sleeping off my vodka and pop music hang over.  Plus, I had to get the high pitched girls screams from ringing in my ears!!  Anyways, I am safe and sound and everyone knows where I am...
