My mommy told me today that I am becoming a Toyvoyager! I am so excited!
I would love to take part in a European RR. Let's see what will happen. |
iloveletters Posted Feb 1, 2012, 5:36 pm |
Today it was time to say GoodBye to
Tiplitaps, a tv which stayed in Thuringia for the Big German RR. Before crawling into the box he did some scrapbooking and showed me his passport. He is on the way to Bavaria now. Have a good journey! |
iloveletters Posted Feb 1, 2012, 5:38 pm |
We went shopping in Eisenach and guess who we met!?
The Milka cow! |
iloveletters Posted Feb 4, 2012, 7:43 pm |
Today we went to Sonderhausen and the Music Academy for a choir
workshop. The weather is really cold here at the moment, in the morning it was -19°C! brrrrrrr! There is also some snow here, more in the north of Thuringia, then where we live. |
iloveletters Posted Feb 4, 2012, 7:46 pm |
When I arrived back home in the evening a package had arrived.
We were really curious about what's inside. When we opened the lid we met Stoker a new guest on the Big German RR. He will stay with us in February. Welcome Stoker! |
iloveletters Posted Feb 22, 2012, 10:16 am |
Because it is Carnival season we had our own little Carnival party at home!
First we needed some decoration. Noisy had sent some crackers with Stoker's package and they came in very handy! Stoker pulled hard but the cracker did not go off. Then he asked Dancer for help and we pulled and pulled - but the cracker did not go off. They asked me for help and we pulled and pulled and pulled - and finally the cracker went off and we were all covered in paper streamers! Now we needed costumes. One of us decided to go as Santa, one was a mummy and one of us was a ghost. Can you guess who is who?! For a real Carnival in Germany you need doughnuts! Mmmmhhhhhh, they were so yummy! |

Hi Mum,
Today, we went out on the bus. My host wanted to buy the new issue of stamps. We had time afterwards for a quick visit to Criccieth before having to get home before the end of the school day. Criccieth has a castle. We didn't have time today to visit it, but other toy visitors here have.. |

Hi Mum,
Today is a sunny day so we popped to my host's allotment. This Purple Sprouting Broccoli looks tasty. |
miapearl Posted Mar 30, 2012, 11:01 am |
Hi Mum,
My host heard about a craft and seed fair in Conwy, a historic walled town about an hour away by bus. We came early on the bus and shared a nice pot of tea over breakfast. Conwy lies on a river mouth. There is an RNLI station so we had a look at the lifeboat. This is a "mussels" statue Look at all those boats. We went for a short walk along the town walls. Afterwards, my host bought some seeds. |

Hi Mum,
Just wanted to say Hi. We are going out somewhere. |
miapearl Posted Apr 10, 2012, 8:47 pm |
Hi Mum,
Today, we have come to the seaside town of Rhyl on the North Wales coast There are some amusement rides here for the kiddies. There is a beach though it does look a bit cold down there with the wind. No wonder there are wind turbines out at sea. The Sky tower is undergoing refurbishment. So, we decided to take a look at Terror Tombs. It is dark! I am not frightened... |
miapearl Posted Apr 11, 2012, 1:45 pm |
Hi Mum,
Today, we've come to the allotment. There's a big black cat snoozing the afternoon away. Time for a little nibble on some fresh purple sprouting broccoli. Pretty blossom on the greengage tree. |
miapearl Posted Apr 15, 2012, 8:04 pm |
Hi Mum,
After visiting the allotment, we went for a mystery drive. My host says there is a geocache this side of the bridge we crossed. Here it is! We had to cross the tracks of the Welsh Highland Railway. We looked both ways to check the crossing was clear. Then on the way back, we stopped off at a garage with a carwash. The car should be sparkling clean shortly! |
miapearl Posted Apr 15, 2012, 8:07 pm |
Hi Mum,
Just wanted to say Hi. We are going out somewhere. And a package has arrived. We'll have to open it when we get there. |
miapearl Posted Apr 15, 2012, 8:20 pm |
Hi Mum,
We've arrived safely at my host's mum's house. Now it is time to see what is in the package. Hello Yetta Bear |
miapearl Posted Apr 15, 2012, 8:51 pm |
Today, we've come to Hunstanton
It is a bit windy on the prom. So we've come into the aquarium. There's a toilet under water with an octopus hiding behind it! There are many different tanks. The fish won't stand still for their photos to be taken! This horseshoe crab has its back to us. That's a shark. We are in the shark tunnel. They have other fish in with the sharks. And a turtle, only 8 years old. There's another shark. |
miapearl Posted Apr 15, 2012, 9:00 pm |
Hi Mum,
It is my host's birthday soon, and my host's mum doesn't live too far away from LittleBlogFrog So, we hijacked my host's toyvoyagers account and decided to contact LittleBlogFrog for help with presents. We wrote a message to her asking her to meet us at King's Lynn the next day, to see if she has any ideas what my host would like. |
miapearl Posted Apr 15, 2012, 9:17 pm |
Hi Mum,
We heard back from LittleBlogFrog and she has agreed to meet us. But first, the little problem of getting there! Come on bus. We didn't have to wait too long and now we are sat at the back of the bus. When we get there, we'll see if we can run off with my host's mum to meet LittleBlogFrog We met her and have a present for my host! We caught up with my host when she was looking at the "eggs" |
miapearl Posted Apr 15, 2012, 9:27 pm |
Hi Mum,
It is time to wrap up my host's birthday present. Done! And then my host's mum gave us an Easter chocolate each. |
miapearl Posted Apr 20, 2012, 9:47 am |
Hi Mum,
We have stopped off at Wrexham's Techniquest, a hands on science centre. Here we are investigating vocal cords. The different shapes produce different sounds. A gravity well. We like watching the balls go round. I can't remember what my host said. A maze to go through. My host's hand has some heat. We read about nebulas. Orion. I appear to be on the ceiling! |
miapearl Posted Apr 20, 2012, 9:48 am |
Hi Mum
It is time for me to leave, but first a picture in front of my host's house. I climbed the tree. And now, I am on my way to my next host. |

Hello World,
I have arrived here in Austria. I was welcomed by Elmo, who sang a song for me! We had a nice chat and then he showed me a postcard from creamsheep who is my host mom's own tv! I am exploring my surroundings now! Servus from Vienna! |
marcie08 Posted May 1, 2012, 11:20 am |
Hi Mom!
Today we went to Schönbrunn Palace, which is a UNESCO World heritage Site in Vienna. It is the place where the former Habsburg Emperors lived during the summer time. As you can see, the Palace is huge. It is surrounded by a beautiful park, with lovely flower beds and a rose garden. The roses need a little more time to bloom, but my host mom told me that it soon will be beautiful. There are also many squirrels running around. Opposite the castle is another building that is called Gloriette. There is a café inside where you can enjoy a slice of cake. It was a bright and sunny day today, so I really enjoyed the sightseeing. My feet hurt a little, so I rested on a bench and had a look at all the other visiting tourists! Servus (is a traditional greeting here in Vienna for people you are friends with)! |
marcie08 Posted May 1, 2012, 11:59 am |
Hi Mom!
Today we went to an Amusement Park "Prater". There is the Riesenrad and other things you can ride with, also ghost trails and other stuff. But first we went to a restaurant there, called "Schweizerhaus" (Swiss house). I have no idea why it is called Swiss house, no connection to Switzerland as far as Mom knows...now we have looked it up in wikipedia, if you are interested, follow the link! It is traditional to eat roast pork knuckle there with mustard and horse radish, accompanied by a Budweiser beer from Czech Republic. Later we took a ride with the Vienna Riesenrad (Giant Wheel) and had a look over the city! How big the city is! The Giant Wheel is really old! Before boarding one of the coaches, we went to the little exhibition where you can see historic scenes from Prater and the Giant Wheel, for exampel how it looked like after WWII, when it was almost completely destroyed. Servus! |
marcie08 Posted May 1, 2012, 12:34 pm |
Hi Mom!
Today we went to a part of Austria that is called "Wachau". It is a valley formed by Danube river and a UNESCO World Heritage Landscape. We visited Abbey Melk - it has been renovated lately and is a beautiful building. We went through the state rooms there and also visited the church. Then we had lunch and drove on along the Danube river where we watched the boats cruising. Along the river is also a place called Willensdorf. This is the place where the Venus of Willensdorf was found. The Venus is a petite statuette made approx 24.000 - 22.000 BCE and can now be visited at the Museum of Natural History of Vienna. That was another wonderful day, with bright sunshine and an all time temperature record of 31,2°C in April! On the way home I napped in the card. We also bought a few souvenirs among others also products made of Wachauer Marille (apricot), which is a speciality of the Wachau region. Servus! |
marcie08 Posted May 9, 2012, 6:53 pm |
Hi Mom!
Today I helped my hostmom with her postcrossing duty So we scanned the cards and I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures! My favorite card was the Muppet card! Servus! |

Hi Mom!
Today we received a package! How very exciting!!!! I did not know what to expect, so I took a look...and then I saw this orange tail... and I was asking myself who that might be... I have never met someone with an orange tail before...well, at least I think so... Then I saw an orange fanny... ....and out jumped Lupus-Tigger! Wow, he is a friendly one and was jumping around on his tail! He showed me a postcard and told me all about his holiday in Italy Then we had a look at the package and saw that someone has taken almost all the stamps off. I'm off to play with Tigger now, Servus!!! |
marcie08 Posted May 19, 2012, 8:28 pm |
Hi Mom!
Today we went to the Stadtpark, a park in Vienna. There was a food-festival called "Genussfestival". Food stalls from all over Austria offered their treats: wine, cheese, ham, bacon, fruit juice, jam... Wow, there was almost too much to choose from I decided on a bacon and salami bread finally! That was yummi! Unfortunately the weather was really bad, so we went home a little earlier. On our way we passed a statue of Johan Strauss (son), member of the famous Viennese composer dynasty. Servus! |

Hi Mom!
Today I went too my Mom's hometown Graz. We had a nice walk through the old town. Have a look at the nice houses and small squares with cafés. We went to a square called Glockenspielplatz. There is a carillon in a house and it plays three times a day. When it starts, small figurines in traditional Austrian clothes come out to dance! After having eaten the breakfast we went on to the city hall, where people can get married! The city hall is located at the Main Square and there is a statue of Archduke Johann. This was the first part of my coty tour, the other part will follow! |
marcie08 Posted May 21, 2012, 8:37 pm |
Hi Mom!
Here comes part II of my Graz-tour. From the Main Square we went on to the Franziskaner-Quarter, a quarter that has an Italian touch. The church you see is the Franziskaner-Church, next is the Franziskaner-Square, where you can find many small restaurants and cafes. We walked over a bridge and look: There are a lot of locks on the bridge. The locks are called love-locks and couples put their locks there...I have no idea why While standing on the bridge we had a look at the Kunsthaus, the modern museum of contemporary art and photography. It looks a bit funny though... When you look at the other side of the river, you have a look up to the Castle Mountain. We then went to the Kunsthaus and you can see me on a Kunsthaus model - now you really see what the building looks like Next we went on to Mariahilfer-Square and the church. We walked on over a small bridge called Mursteg and had a look down at the river Mur. There is an artificial island in the river. And there is also a cafe on the island! When we crossed the bridge we had another look at the castle mountain and saw the clock tower! We walked along the river and had a look at the Mur-Island from another viewpoint. I hope you liked the tour! Servus! |

Hi there Mom!
Best wishes from the vineyards in Southern Styria! We are right at the Slovenian border. At the end of the vineyard that you can see in the pictures is Slovenia We stayed in Austria though and had lunch at a Buschenschank, which is kind of a restaurant in the vineyards. Here you get all kinds of local produce, ham, bacon, cheese, different spreads and homemade bread! It's delicious. Of course you also have a glass of wine (or maybe two) of the local winery After lunch we had a little walk around the area. But I was so stuffed that I had to take a rest in a flowerpot Servus! |

Hi Mom!
Today I helped planting a small herb garden! My host mom received this small herb-planting set as a present and I decided to help. First we had to put the soil in the little pots. Then I had to open the small sachets that contained the herb seeds. You can see me spreading the parsley seeds on the soil! After that we put another little soil on top of the seeds and watered it. Now we have to wait for the first green sprouts... You can see me waiting at the windowsill...so far I have not seen something growing out of the soil. My host mom told me that we would have to wait for a few days....that is a looooong time for a little bear... Bye Mom, I have to keep watching the pots! |

Hi Mom!
I am so excited! The little herbs we planted started to grow! |
marcie08 Posted Jun 19, 2012, 8:35 pm |
Hi Mom!
Today we went to a park near my host mom's appartement. It is a huge park where people walk, take a run, relax on a bench...kids can play on three different playgrounds. There are also many different plants and trees and bushes... There are also some lakes where you can watch ducks or feed them. What I really loved was the little tower called "Paulinenwarte". Unfortunately I could not go up there I loved the park! Servus! |

Hi Mom!
Today we went to a wonderful open air concert. It was the dress rehearsal of the summernight concert of the Philharmonic Orchestra and they played in front of Schönbrunn castle. There were also ballet dancers. Vienna really is the city of music |

Hi Mom!
Today we went to the zoo. It is located inside of the huge park of Schönbrunn Castle. It is a really old zoo and was awarded Europe's best zoo title twice. We first visited the Tyrolean garden where you can see farm animals and a real Tyrolean farm house. Next we took the treetop-walk, where you walk on a wooden bridge in the treetops. You have a fantastic view over the city of Vienna from up there. We saw ants on an anthill, elks, and other animals. Then we went to the anteater feeding - that was so cool because one of the anteaters has a baby After that we went to the elephant house and watched the training of the elephants. They have to lift their feet on command, also the trunk or move their ears. I would love to be able to move my bear-eras on command, too It was a beautiful and sunny day, so I really enjoyed walking around. We moved on to some monkeys, visited the turtels and finally made our way to the Orang Utans. There is one orang utan lady called Nonja and she is quite famous. She even has her own facebook page. She used to paint. In the café located next to the orang utan area there is an exhibition of Nonja's paintings. The last animals we visited were the giant pandas. They are sooo cool Unfortunately there was no brown bear... Servus! |

Hi Mummy,
I just want to let you know that I arrived at my new host's home. I am not the only TV here, I already met Bzzzzz and Lorca. My host Katja and the other TVs are curious to taste the hot chocolate which I brought with me - thanks to marcie08 Today we are having terrible weather, it is raining cats and dogs outside, so we decided to do nothing. Bye Shesh |

Hi Mummy,
as soon as I arrived here I am off again Katja took me and the other TVs with her to her work place to take a walk in the city later. Her colleague invited me to accompany her on a day trip to .... I forget where she is going ... it is a European capital city ... Budapest? No. Amsterdam? No. Athens, Madrid, Zurich? No, no and again no. We will be back on Sunday Bye! Shesh |

Hi Mummy,
greetings from London! Unfortunately my current host was too busy to take more photos. She had to take care for seven pupils, as we were on a class trip with the class of her son. Nontheless we had a great day here. We visited some of the touristic sites and the Hardrock Café. We were here for only ten hours, in the early evening we went back by ferry and bus via Calais. Love Shesh |
olgamaus Posted Jul 25, 2012, 9:50 pm |
Hi Mummy,
we moved to my host's new apartment last weekend. Still there is not everything fixed and finished, tools are still everywhere Nontheless we took a walk in the late morning because the weather finally became better after two extremely rainy weeks. We went to the outskirts in the West of Remscheid. It did not take long until we reached a forest. Katja showed me rocks with engraved words. Walking downhill we reached a creek which is flowing in the valley. Here we found hogweed, a plant which originally came from Eastern countries, from the Caucasus mountains. Although it looks pretty people do not like it. Its sap causes phytophotodermatitis on human skin. This part of the valley has a very special name Can you see the markings for hiking trails on the tree? The encircled "R" stands for a hiking trail around the municipal area of Remscheid, about 63 km long. At home a lot of work was waiting for us, so we went back home. Bye Shesh |
olgamaus Posted Jul 29, 2012, 2:39 pm |
Hi Mummy,
today we went to Wuppertal to visit the Botanical garden there. Unfortunately Wuppetal's main attraction, the "Schwebebahn", is closed due to repair works. In the background you can see the "Justizzentrum" with local court and district court. The Botanical garden is situated on a hilled called "Hardt", we had to climb umpteen stairs to get there. The closer we came to the Botanical garden the more lovely were the dwellings, mostly beautiful mansions. You can find the former country house of a textile manufacturers named Eller, which contained a villa (built 1820), orangery, residential and farm buildings, and the Elise Tower (built 1838) which provides the garden's focal point. We saw different kinds of gardens, like this rockery... ... and different flowers. Here you can see Elise Tower once more. I also had a look at the garden with medicinal herbs. Here is one of the most famous medicinal herbs: Purple coneflower or Echinacea. These are Angel's trumpets, originally from South America. Angel's trumpets are beautiful flowers, but extremely poisonous. There is also a pond in the Botanical garden. We rested in the shade of this Phoenix plant. We also had a look at the greenhouses in the entrance area. We found bananas here. There is an exhibition with butterfly sculptures. Later we went to the city centre to pick up Katja's daughter from her work place in a restaurant. On our way there we saw this great fountain in front of the city hall. We had a large ice cream and went home than. Bye Shesh |
olgamaus Posted Aug 5, 2012, 8:56 pm |
Hi Mummy,
we took a walk today in the district Hasten, one of the historic districts- You can find lots of lovely old traditional houses here. This one is a beautiful one, although not a traditional "Bergisches" house. A museum is situated in this Patrician villa, built in late 18th century. The "German Tool Museum" is situated on the the same estate. Hasten is situated close to woodland, you can already see it. In the background the outskirts of Wuppertal are visible. These houses, covered with slate and with green shutters, are traditional houses. We found this large machine for wood processing. Katja showed us the cemetary when we went back home. We reached the city centre after walking uphill for some time. In the background the tower of the city hall is visible. And here you can see where I am living at the moment. My host moved to the house on the right side last month, to the second floor. From inside we have a good view to the park opposite of the houses. Even in the backyard there is a large lawn with old trees. That's all for now ) Bye Shesh |
olgamaus Posted Aug 16, 2012, 6:15 pm |
Hi Mummy,
originally we had planned that I would leave today. But than my next host from Italy sent a message that she is on vacation at the moment, I would better come in about two weeks. So I have a bit more time here in Remscheid. Today it was foggy in the morning. When Katja went to work she took me with her. We could hardly see the city hall! This is the city hall, not only hidden in the fog but also behind a scaffolding The lion is the heraldic animal of Remscheid. He is holding a basketball hoop on one side. The weather became much better until noon. In the afternoon we took a walk with one of Katja's friends in the outskirts of Remscheid, often rural areas. This one also, with meadows and horses and lovely gardens. From here we walked towards river Wupper. Along the path we found some rocks with engraved boardgames, Nine Men's Morris here. We crossed river Wupper here, there is a bridge close to a lovely restaurant. We followed the path along the river, uphill and downhill, with steep rocks. Himalayan Balsam is growing everywhere. We had to walk for about half an hour until we reached Germany's highest railway bridge, Muengsten Bridge. This bridge is about 480 m long and 107 m tall, overspanning the valley of river Wupper. It is connecting Remscheid and the neighbour city Solingen. It was built in late 19th century. At the moment it is closed for railway traffic, due to extensive restauration work. A leisure park was built under the bridge a few years ago. There are lawns for relaxing, a crazy golf course, games for kids, two restaurants and fantastic playgrounds in the forest. We walked uphill than to the abutment of the bridge on Remscheid's side of the valley. This path is not very common, like Katja told us. We had a great view into the bridge from here. This was a very interesting trip. Bye Shesh |
olgamaus Posted Aug 16, 2012, 6:25 pm |
Hi Mummy,
today we took a walk in the outskirts in the Northern part of the city, closer to Wuppertal. Here are also lovely rural districts. When we walked through an area with pasture on both sides we had a good look to the district Hasten ... ... and to the city centre in the background of the photo, with the two towers of city hall and water tower. We reached a very special school than, "Naturschule Grund". You can learn a lot about nature here, next weekend they are offering a "spider walk" for kids, they can learn about spiders than. (Does anybody want to know anything about SPIDERS?) We walked through the forest than. Katja showed us a water wheel, it belongs to a museum. You can find the remains of many water wheels along the rivers and creeks around Remscheid. Remscheid has an age-long history in tool producing industry, from middle ages on. All the smithies were run by water wheels. The coat of arms of Remscheid is worked into the fence of the museum. From here, deep in the valley, we had to walk uphill for about half an hour to get home. Bye Shesh |

Dear Mum
Yesterday I arrived in Heidelberg. The weather is nice and sunny, so I already spent some time on the balcony and I also met nuriayasmin's cat Sammy. There's another TV here, a cute rabbit called Brinda and next month the two of us will visit the Czech Republic. I'm quite excited and plan to learn some Czech before we leave. Take care, Shesh |

Hi Mum
Greetings from the north of the Czech Republic. We arrived her after a 10-hours journey by train and bus and are a bit exhausted now. 'We're staying at a cozy hotel with just 6 rooms and we TV's have a bed of our own. The look out of the window is also very nice. Bye, Shesh |

Hi Mum
Today we visited Hrad Valdtejn which once was in the possession of the famous Wallenstein, the supreme commander of the army of the Habsburg monarchy during the Thiry Years' War in the 17th century. The castle is situated about 4 km away from Turnov in the forest. On the way to it we passed the Hlavatice rock with its viewing platform and I learnt that unlike in German the Czech word "strom" has got nothing to do with water but means "tree". It already started to rain when we were still visiting the castle and didn't stop until we got back to the hotel. We had planned to have a look around the city of Turnov in the afternoon but because of the rain nuriayasmin went alone and we TV's stayed at the hotel so that we wouldn't get wet. Bye, Shesh |

Dear Mum
Today we went to Liberec by train and did some shopping. On the photos you can see me in front of the town hall and in front of the theatre. Tomorrow we're going back to Germany but I'm already looking forward to coming back to the Czech Republic in June. Hope you're fine. Shesh |

Dear Mum
After spending a quiet time at my host's house in Germany, I'm now traveling again. Our first stop was the Austrian city of Linz where we just spent one night on our way to the Czech Republic. Here's a picture of me in the city centre. Shesh |

Dear Mum
I'm at lake Lipno now, the area is also called the South Bohemian Riviera. Lipno is an artificial lake. There are lots of holiday resorts and camp site on the northern lakeshore while the south is pure wilderness, the Bohemian Forest - or umava as it's called in Czech. Here are some pictures: Bye, Shesh |
