Hey there!

On Tuesday I arrived in Äänekoski! My host mom and Nils was already waiting for me. At the same day, we went to visit my host mom's grandmoter who lives alone in the middle of forest. And she is 88 years old. But anyway, we went there to picking berries! Me and Nils were helping as best we can. Those berries weren't very tasty, too sour for me.
Suddenly we heard a weird noise.. We looked for its maker but we couldn't see anything until my host mom pointed in the sky. There was hot air balloon! It was strange that it was flying there, middle of nowhere. After picking berries we went to near forest. There was a lake but that was not suitable for swimming because it was bottomless, it was more swmp lake than a real one. In the forest we saw berries too, lingonberries, but they were even more sour. Later we ent inside the house and there was really strange shoes and bag! They were made from birchbark! That birch shoe was really good place to take a little nap.

The weekend is coming and we are maybe going to do something really fun!

I hope you all the best!
Greetings, Lancel : )

Hi Mom !

Tuesday was my first day in high school ! Me and Nils take part to three English lessons. I'm really happy that I don't need to study every day! On the break me and Nils played with my host mom's friend's jungle hat. I have no idea why he had that kind of hat in school which is not even in jungle but whatever.
And now i know how to say "castel" and "knight" in Finnish! "Linna" menas "castle" and "ritari" means "knight". Now my dream is a little bit closer to come true!

Tomorrow is a weekend and me and Nils are going to party!
I wish you all the best!
Greetings, Lancel : )

Hello !

This week has been quite ordinary, except Tuesday. On Tuesday me and Nils were helping my host mom and other active students to organize a farewell party for exhange students in High School. It was really fun, we ate lots of delicious sweets and snacks, for example cinamon buns, chocolate, grapes and Karelian pasties. And then we met a real journalist! Or in fact, I think he was just a trainee but anyway, he wanted to do a article about ToyVoyagers! So soon my and Nils' picture will be on a local newspaper.
And then we also saw many different instruments there, like an accordion and a keyboard.

Tomorrow we are going to travel by train to Tampere! There is anime and manga happening called Tracon and my host mom is going to work there. I hope that our trip will be fun!

Lots of greetings, Lancel : )

Hey Mom !

Last weekend was awsome ! I have never seen so many spectacular costumes in one place! There were about 5000 visitors in Tracon so that's why my host mom didn't took many pictures, there was always someone on the way. But we were allowed to take picture with beautiful doll ladies.

And at week happened one exiting thing! We were in local newspaper. It was pretty good article, but my host mom said that the picture was terrible. And now she have to use paper bag in her head when she walks outside.. I'm sure she is just kidding. it was good anyway.

On Thursday we had to say goodbye to Nils, who continued his trip to Switzerland. But I wasn't alone for a long because Sheldor the Turtle arrived on Friday! We had a really nice weekend, we walked in the local harbour and looked at yellow trees and boats. Sadly the weather was a little grey. And my host mom has get excited in knitting, at the moment she is making scarf for herself but maybe she had time to do something nice for us too!

I wish you all the best!

Hey Mom !

Sorry that you haven't heard about me for a while. On the weekend we did a morning walk to forest, the weather was really beautiful. In the forest we saw berries and little bugs, me and Sheldor tried to catch them but they were too fast.

And I have a new friend again, my host mom's own ToyVoyager Tsuki came back home from Germany! Sadly her envelope had get wet and she smelled like a wet dog. My host mom had to wash her and now she has been drying for some time. Luckily she is now back in business and she can say goodbye to me when I'm leaving to Germany! I have had fun in Finland and now I will head on new adventures like a knight!

I hope you are fine! All the best!

Hello Mama,

hostmom made some Halloween Costumes for us.

I am an easter egg and a cloud. Cloud number 9 (or was we say in Germany Wolke 7).

Karlos is a classical ghost and a scottish guy.

Klöver wanted a Springroll costume. But I think that there was some kind of ah uh misunderstanding.  ;)

And little T.B. is a Pumpkin and a Santa Clause.

If you wanna see the other TV's Costumes please check the Forum because we are all paricipate in the Halloween Costumes  contest.

Goooood evening Mom,

this afternoon Susie's took me for a walk in and around her hometown.
First we walked along the old main street which is made of cobblestones and lined of Half-timbered houses.
Then we left the town and walked through the fields and along all the apple trees. Since we walked up a hill for a bit we had a pretty nice view at host mum's home town. And in the distance you can even see the skyline of Frankfurt/Main.

Hope you had a nice weekend too.

Good night.

Poor hostmum was sick for a few days.  :(
But good TV's as we are we did what we could to help her to get better asap.  :D
We prepared a bath for her and put some strong smelling  green stuff in. And made a hot drink by a recipe of her mum. Milk with butter and some honey. Sounds nasty but I guess it helps.  :D

Am I a good girl or what?  ;)

Posted Nov 1, 2012, 8:08 pm
Today we went on lunchbreak with Susie's. She took us to the restaurant of a swedish furniture store. Guess what it's called?  ;)
But since the line for lunch was so long and we didn't have too much time, host mum just got some cake. Her friend (who was with us) just grabbed a hot dog. And then we were gone again.

Love you

Good evening Mami,

this was a typical November day. Gray and cold and rainy.
What better to do than to stay at home?
Stay at home annnnnnnnnnndddddddddddd bake some cookies!  :cyclops:
That's what we did!  :cyclops: They are called little chocolate clouds.
First we shredded some chocolate than we separated 4 eggs and made beaten egg white, added some sugar and the chocolate. We put the dough on a baking sheet with the help of a decorating bag.
After they baked for 15-20 Minutes we took the cookies out of the ofen and let them cool of. And here they are our selfmade little choclate clouds.  :cyclops:

I miss you Mummy.

Bye yours Lancel

Send you a hug.

Hey Moma,

this evening we were pretty busy. We helped host mum to prepare two packages that she is going to donate for Weihnachten im Schuhkarton/Geschenke der Hoffnung, Christmas in a shoebox/presents of hope(international name: operation christmaschild).
First we decorate the box with christmas wrappingpaper and stickers and put a label on it that shows that these packages are meant to go to a boy age 10-14 year. Than we filled it with all the stuff host mum bought for that. The first package: a sweater, gloves, toys, sweets and so on. The second one: a pencil case already filled with all kinds of pens, warm stockings, a cap and also sweets, toys and more.
Don't worry mum, after I checked that everything is in place I crawled back out and helped to put a rubber band around the package.
Next week Susie's mum will take them to a store where they collect the packages and will hand them over to the organisation.

Now I feel really good because I helped to do something good.  :cyclops:

Love you

Good evening Mama,

I gotta tell ya something.  :D
We were gone all weekend. Friday morning we drove to a town called Eltville which is right by the river Rhein (Rhine).
First thing we did when arrived was take a short walk around town and have lunch. Then we checked in our hotel. Which wasn't just any hotel! It was a 5* deluxe palace hotel.  :cyclops: Wow that was fancy!  It dosen't look to spectacular from the outside but on the inside it's just wooooooooow.  ;) We even got an upgarde to a suite with two bathrooms, a living room and a closet you could walk in. After discovering the "room" we went back to town for some more walking and Susie's and her mom pampered themself with a massage at a Spa.

And that was the first day of our little weekendtrip.

Love you

On saturday we planned on going hiking but it was raining like crazy so we had to change to indoor plans (museum and stuff).
But the museum was closed. Means we had to spent the day outside anyway. We drove to the small town of Rüdesheim which is famous with tourists from all over the world.
We strolled around and came by hostmums favorite store twice. It's called Käthe Wohlfahrt and sells christmas decoration all around the year.
In between the rain slowed down a little and we decided to take some kind of cable car sky train to the top of a small mountain where a famous Statue called Niederwalddenkmal is. Half way up there it got very foggy and we hardly couldn't see anything anymore. We took a quick look around and went back down.
On the way back to the hotel we stopped by so many different monasteries, churches, abbeys and what not (took pictures with two or three of them) that I forgot which is which.

And that was day two.  :D

Posted Nov 11, 2012, 8:58 pm
Sunday morning we walked around the parc that surrounds the hotel and a bit along the river rhine. After we checked out from our suite we visited the monastery of Eberbach. It was founded in the 12th century.
In the years 1985-86 almost all shootings for the movie The Name of the Rose (with Sean Connery) were filmed here.

And now we are back at hostmums home.

Hope you had a nice weekend too.  :D

Servus Mama,

this morning I went to Bad Homburg with hostmum.
She wanted to show me the local castle (it was built in 1679-1686 by Earl Friedrich II.) On the way we came by two beautiful
churches. The first one is the Catholic church St. Marien (which is famous for it's bells and it's ringing) and the second one is the Protestant church called Erlöserkirche (built in 1903-1908).
Last but not least we visited the so called Laternenfestbrunnen (lanternsfestivalfountain). It is very important for Bad Homburg because every year there is Latersfestival (since 1935) and Laternsqueen is elected.
That was pretty interesting.

For now I say good Night.

Have sweet dreams.

Good Morning Moma,

yesterday morning we had to say goodbye to our friend Karlos:(
We hugged and cuddled and helped him to crawl in his envelope.
And now he is his way back home to be with his moomy soon.

Posted Nov 18, 2012, 9:55 am
And in the evening we got to go to Frankfurt/Main for a Sushi Dinner. Hmmmmm that was so yummy.  :D
To get there we took the train. At the central station we had some time to take a look around. After dinner we went for a walk and did a bit of sightseeing. We saw some skyscrapers and the old opera (which is one of the most beautiful buildings in all Frankfurt).

Have a nice weekend mom.

see ya

Posted Nov 20, 2012, 7:31 pm
Hi Mom,

take a look at that! Hostmum put up some christmas decoration.
Of course we helped.  :D
Somehow I feel like singing: jingel bells jingels lalalalala.

Posted Nov 25, 2012, 6:16 pm
Guten Abend Mama,  :D

today we spent some time in Frankfurt/Main with hostmum. She met a friend and togehter we went to a Spa where they got a treatment. After that we walked along the river Main. To cross it we took the bridge called "Eiserner Steg" (iron bridge). The special thing about are the locks. Young couples put them up with their names engraved. It's a symbol of everlasting love.  :D
From there we came by a very famous sight of Frankfurt the Römer.
It's the building whose roof looks like stairs. On the square that is infront of the Römer building (and all the way to downtown Frankfurt) everything is already prepared for the Weihnachtsmarkt (which is one of those famous outside german christmas fairs) that will start tomorrow and last till christmas.

And even at the central station everything is already decorated.  :D

How was your weekend mum?

Miss you

today hostmum put up some more christmas decoration (including the tree). Of course we helped again this time.  :D

Hey Mommy,

we spend the day in the town Gelnhausen at a Scrapbooking workshop.
Hostmum made something called December Daily. It's some kind of diary.
I really like it. :D

Good night

Posted Dec 2, 2012, 8:11 pm
Hallo Mami,

and again we were gone all day. We spent it with one of hostmum's friends and her kids and made christmas cookies all day. Lot's and lot's of them. :-)
When we got there were already cookies called Bethmännchen (made of marzipan and almonds) in the oven.
Then we made Schmalznüsse (an old and traditional recipe), Nougatkugeln(nougatballs) and Schokoladenmacarons (chocolate macarons).
I had lot of fun.

Hope you had a nice weekend too.

Posted Dec 5, 2012, 7:35 pm
Hey Mommy,

look at that. Hostmum asked us if we would help her shine a pair of shoes. So we did and than put the shoes out the front door.
Susie said that we will get some kind of reward (for so) for that. But not today we have to wait till the morning.  :)
Hmmmmm what could that be about?
I'll tell you about it tomorrow.

Love you

PS Have I ever told you that my TV friend here is Druri from finland?

Posted Dec 6, 2012, 2:04 pm
Hey Mom,

do you remember the shoes we shined yesterday?
First thing we did this morning was checking on them.
And I couldn't belive my eyes. They where filled with lots of good stuff. Tea (with vanilla and almond flavor) some sweets and a mandarin. :cyclops: We had the tea right away for breakfast. Hmmmmmm yummy.
Hostmum told us that the Nikolaus brought it.
The Nikolaus in Germany is pretty similar to the american Santa Claus (dressed in a red coat and wears a white beard). To some families he comes in person (usually the one with small children). The kids then have to sing a christmas song or say a poem and get sweets for that. And to some people the Nikolaus comes over night and leaves the sweets there (of course just if you shined your shoes and put them out the front door  ;) )

Servus Mama,

yesterday we were christmas shopping. In the afternoon we went to Bad Homburg and in the evening to Frankfurt.
In Bad Homburg we were inside for a little while and when we came back out everything was covered in snow.  :D

Susie's wasen't to lucky with buying presents for her family and friends but she treated herself with a small gift.  ;)

PS I even got to take a picture with Brad Pitt.  ;)

Posted Dec 8, 2012, 12:51 pm
This morning I packed my stuff, hugged my friend Druri goodbye and now I'm on my way to switzerland.
Yeah! I'm so excited to see what it's gonna be like.

Have a nice weekend mum.

Love ya.

Hello mum,
after a short, pleasant trip I arrived today healthy and happy in Switzerland.

My envelope was opened and I climbed out carefully.

A large group of TV's greeted me warmly.

Suddenly, I saw a familiar face.

Nils, my friend from Finland is still here. I showed all my presents.

When I had welcomed all, I had to say goodbye again. Mr. Wilson is leaving today and will continue on to Germany, where he spent Christmas. So we hugged again

and wished Mr. Wilson a safe journey.
See you soon, mum

Hello mum and all the loved ones at home,

Wonderful winter weather.

As host mum came home from work, she grabbed us immediately into her bag and off we went.

We walked up a forest path.

The sun was shining through the trees.

So much snow.

Above we saw pristine snow.

We had a wonderful view.

This walk was lovely.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Hello dear mum.
Today I was able to accompany host mum to work. She is responsible for inventory management and shipping to a company for hotel and kitchen supplies. First I visited her office.

It is not ready set up, they moved just two weeks ago. Then I looked at the warehouse.

Thousands of kitchen towels, tablecloths, napkins, aprons and more.

Even here was Santa Claus.

It was great to see what host mum does when she is not at home.

Hi mommy and all the loved ones at home,

I had a very merry Christmas. On Christmas Eve we have decorated the Christmas tree with host dad.

Sorry if some pictures are blurred. We laughed so much as host dad fought with the fairy lights.

The Christmas tree looks wonderful.

Then came the big moment.

Everybody got his gift.

I got a sweater and a shield.

Now I look almost like a knight.

Hugs and kisses

Hello mum,
since Christmas storms and rains every day. No chance to go out. That's why I worked on one of my life missons and baked a cake. An apple cake with almonds. I had a lot to do. Weigh flour, cut butter into small pieces,

add brown sugar.

Host mum has kneaded the dough.

My furry paws are not so good for that. While the dough chilled, I prepared the cake pan.

Then I cored apples and cut into small pieces and mixed with lemon juice and cinnamon.

I melted butter and brown sugar

and added almonds.

Then I rolled out the dough and put it into the mold.

Fill with apples,

and slide it into the oven. And then, wait, wait, wait. Wait about an hour. It was worth it.

See for yourself.

To eat the cake is easier than to bake him. I will enjoy it.

See you soon mum,

Happy New Year

mum, I wish you and all the loved ones at home a happy and healthy new year. After a great dinner, we watched a bit of television

to sell us the time. Then host brotherhas ignited table fireworks.

We had great fun with all the funny things.

Later we listened to the church bells and welcomed the New Year with champagne. Then we watched the fireworks.

As our host family went to sleep, we have emptied the remaining bottles. May be this was a little much for some of us

but we had a great party. And the party will go on, we have in fact two birthday kids. But that's another story.

Love you all

Hello back home
after three weeks of rain (host mother can not remember such a terrible winter) we were finally able to back outside. No sun but dry. We all wanted to play in the snow. And for snow we had up high, very high. Sledding on Schwägalp was funny.

Then host mum had the idea of visiting the Santis.

So we took the cable car and were on our way to Säntis peak.

At the top station we admired an exhibition of various museums around.

Then we reached the summit. It was so cold and windy. Everything was frozen.

This is the weather station.

And that's the big TV antenna.

On our way back we even saw the sun.

It was a wonderful day.

Hello mum,
Today we said goodbye to Meomie.

She continues her journey and will visit Germany. We sang a song of farewell

and wished a safe journey.

On Saturday we will have a great trip. Host mum will not tell us where we go. All we know is that we take the train, and the rest is a surprise.

Hello mommy
Yesterday morning we had to get up very early. At 7 clock we sat on the train.

Our first stop was Zurich. There, we had just enough time to photograph the station

and to find out where the journey takes. We will travel to Basel. Basel is one of the oldest cities in Switzerland, located on the River Rhine. The city, near the border with Germany and France is known for its chemical industry. After our arrival in Basel,

we saw only a few steps from the train station Strasbourg Monument

and the Bank for International Settlements.

Our route took us to Elisabeth church

next to the Theatre. We had a short break at the Tinguely fountain.

This fountain, called Fasnacht Fountain was a gift of a great food discounter to the city of Basel.

Then we saw the Basel Cathedral,

located on the cathedral hill high above the Rhine. We had a magnificent view of the river and part of the city.

The skyscrapers that you see in the center of the image, is the fair tower.

Through narrow streets

we found our way to the river Rhine. We crossed the "Middle Bridge"

and could see the old town from the other side.

On our way back we saw the red city hall.

It was built in 1504-1514. After these many impressions we were exhausted and slept through the journey home. I hope you like Basel as much as I.
Greetings, Lancel

Hello mum,
Troot left us today. He traveled further to new adventures in another part of Switzerland. We had a small farewell party with cupcakes.

Host dad had secretly eaten a TV Muffin, therefore Troot had to eat a big one.

Then he packed his things and slipped into the envelope. We all wished him a good trip

and checked that everything was in order.

After his departure, some of us also grabbed the wanderlust. We have told a long time from our travels.
Love you mum, bye bye.

because the weather at the moment is not really good, we had freezing rain and it was dangerously slippery, I'm doing a language course.

I had a choice of four languages are spoken here in Switzerland. I chose Romansh.

Now I have crossed a bridge, and learned to say castle and knight in Romansh.
I work hard at my life missons.

Hello home
Yesterday we had another farewell party. HelgaHH will travel back home, and Rocky Raccoon starts his first journey. Host mum baked a cake and took a group photo.

As long as one can show us yet, she said. Then we ate cake and potato chips and crackers. We drank one or another glass of wine.

Late at night we came upon a sentimental mood. Hase sang with fervor sad songs

until host mum woke up and reminded us that even more people live in this house who want to sleep now. We had a last drink and went to bed.
This morning it was time. We said goodbye to HelgaHH and Rocky. We gave both a group hug

and they slipped into their envelopes.

Bye, bye and have a safe trip.
Also, bye, bye home.

Today a new TV arrived. A sweet dog named Wolley. He is from Guinea and will spend some time with us.
We sat in our basket and told and laughed when suddenly a pointy nose sniffed over the edge.

It was Wolley, who had just arrived. We welcomed him kindly.

As he slept, he was very tired after his journey, we decided to cook a soup for him. A hot soup would be the right on such a cold day. We had a lot to do. Chop bacon, onions and lots of vegetables

into small pieces.

Fry the bacon and onions. Barley and small white beans are added. Then fill with meat broth. And then - charging the battery of the camera. After 1 1/2 hours, we added in the vegetables, stirred,

and let cook for another 30 minutes.
For dinner, we enjoyed a delicious soup.

Satisfied and happy

Hello mum,
the weather is going crazy. On Wednesday the sun was shining (as host mum had to work) and it was 14 degrees. Then we had bucketfuls of rain and storm. This morning it started to snow again. Within ten minutes everything was white. No chance to go outside. And then the bad luck, host mum has a torn ligament in the foot. Dolivia, she is a pharmacy TV gives us instructions on how we have to maintain host mum.

We'll get her back on her feet. On both feet.
Until then

Hello mum,
Last night we had a small farewell party with great pizza.

You never know when the next time it is something to eat and my road is long. After Beijing is my journey. Wow, I'm going to see China. The weather here makes me a little easier to say goodbye. It's horrible, but my friends

and host mum I leave with a tear in my eye. So I packed my things and climbed into my envelope. One last look and a bye,

and then starts the long journey.

I'm so happy the travel didn't take a long time. People here are still celebrating Chinese New Year. We went to a park, where become a big market now. Game, food, commodity, performance, and so many people.

Posted Feb 24, 2013, 7:24 am
Today we had a walk near Tian'anmen Square, a landmark in China. We saw Tian'anmen gate tower (picture 1) and Great Hall of the People (picture 2). XinhuaMen (picture 3) is not far from there, it is the gate of the government. Beyond these traditional architecture, there also is a modern one, National Centre for the Performing Arts (picture 4). Opera, drama, and concert played in the centre everyday.

It is said that there is a little hippo in the zoo. So we went there to see it. It is born 6 days ago, very cute. But it is in the exhibition room, a little far from us. So I didn't get a clear photo with it. After spending a long time with the hippo, we had a walk in the zoo. We met alpaca and swan in our way.

In the night, fireworks crackled across the sky. Today is the fifth day in Chinese new year. There is a tradition to do fireworks display in the day.

Another Spring Festival carnival. It is held in Yuanmingyuan Park. Again, food, commodity, and performance. The difference is there is a big lake in this park. People were skating on the ice.

Today is the last of the holiday. It's very interesting. And I think I like Spring Festival very much.

We visited Lugou Bridge today. Bridge construction was begun in 1189 and completed four years later.

There is a stone stelae at the extremes of the bridge, on which wrote "The Moon over the Lugou Bridge at Dawn" in the handwriting of an Emperor.

Lining the bridge are two rows of carved white marble balustrades topped by posts carved with figures of lions.

So we decided to stay home and surf on the Internet. Suddenly, we saw a picture which is very interesting. And my host told me that here appeared the word "knight". Then we began our language study.

The Chinese characters are so difficult to write. I tried one of the word. Very hard. The pronunciation of knight is Qí Shì in Chinese. And castle is Chéng Bǎo.

Finally, spring is coming. Although the temperature still fluctuates.

This weekend we went to a suburb in north of the city. On the way, we found that trees became green. It is a convincing sign of spring. Pink and white flowers can be saw on the hillside too.

Another important thing is I saw part of the Great Wall. This part of the Great Wall is beside a dam. Maybe it is not so magnificent  as other parts, but it is very special. Because the dam, the Great Wall is just at the side of a lake.

Hi~ Guess where I am. Nanjing, another big city in China.

Thanks for the development of railway, we got here in 4 hours. The speed of the train is about 300km/h. We visited ruins of a palace, and walked along a famous river.

The palace is not exist now. We could know it must be magnificent. Because a similar palace like it is the Forbidden City in Beijing. Luckily the high city wall here has not destroyed much.

There are many classical architectures along the famous river, for example Confucius temple. But we didn't have a visitation because there were so many people. We just walked around and had a rest.

We finally went out for a walk, after a long long time.

The temple of heaven is not far from us. So after super, we went there. In the old days, the emperor would come here, offer sacrifices and pray for a good harvest on the day of the winer solstice.
