Hi everyone,

My name is Spencer. I am a dog from St Ives, Cornwall, Great Britain. Up to now I have worked on a small fishing boat called Blue Belle. See me in front of my place of work.

In my spare time I chase seagulls and enjoy beaches.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves18112011/DSC009500001.jpg

Today I saw three toys sitting on the beach. We got chatting.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves18112011/DSC009550001.jpg

They told me there names: LewisHH, Clairchen and Hoppsi. They are Toyvoyagers travelling the world and enjoying life.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves18112011/DSC009610001.jpg

It sounded like a good idea to me. I have decided to join them and become a Toyvoyager myself.  I asked Scilly and Richy and they agreed.
The four of us took a long last look at Porthgwidden beach and I am quiet excited. I will have my first train ride and my first flight tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

Today is a long journey day - my first journey out of Cornwall. How exciting!
See me in the train looking out of the window.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves19112011/DSC009660001.jpg

My new friends are travelling with me. Here is a photo of all of us.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves19112011/DSC009680001.jpg

Then the train crossed the Tamar river by the Royal Albert Bridge. This marked the border between Cornwall and the rest of the world. ;)
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves19112011/DSC009750001.jpg

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves19112011/DSC009760001.jpg

The train arrived London at Paddington Station. See me in front of the great hall where the famous Ms Marple took the train at 16:50.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves19112011/DSC009790001.jpg

After a security check (where we were not allowed to take a picture of)  at Heathrow I went to the boarding gate for our flight to Hamburg, Germany, where Scilly and Richy lives.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves19112011/DSC009880001.jpg

Look at me exploring the cabin of the aeroplane.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/StIves19112011/DSC010150001.jpg

Then it was time to sit down, fasten seat belt and enjoy the service.
Look at me having a great time as a travelling dog. I love flying.

Hi everyone,

my first week in Germany was very quiet. Scilly was very busy. And this weekend the weather is quite terrible: windy and rainy.
But I enjoyed the new environment.
We prepared the Christmas decorations. See me with this funny fat round man called Father Christmas.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111126/DSC010560001.jpg

Scilly had a task for us. Lewis and me in a competition against Hoppsi and Clairchen. Who will put together the Christmas tea lights faster. See us in progress.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111126/DSC010420001.jpg

Ready!
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111126/DSC010430001.jpg

As we all did it so well Scilly gave each of us a German Lebkuchen heart...hmmm yummy
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111126/DSC010460001.jpg

Then we posed in the middle of the Christmas decorations.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111126/DSC010500001.jpg

I like this red Christmas tree in the window.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111126/DSC010660001.jpg

Can you spot me in the darkness?

After it got dark we saw this house which was decorated for christmas.

Hi everyone,

Today Scilly and Richy showed me the harbour of Hamburg. What a big harbour. Much bigger than the ones I have seen in Cornwall.
See me in front of the Landungsbrücken.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111204/DSC013520001.jpg

They even have Mississippi steamers on the river Elbe.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111204/DSC013250001.jpg

Then I spotted the english cruise ship Queen Mary 2 in the dock. Lovely to see a british ship.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111204/DSC013310001.jpg

But what do I see????  :cyclops: They changed the home harbour Southampton to Hamilton, Bermuda!
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Hoppsi1/20111204/DSC013150002.jpg

In the neighbour dock was another cruise ship the P&O MS Oriana.

Our trip ended at the Elbphilarmonie (concert hall) which is currently beeing built.

Hi everyone,

Scilly showed us the "Alte Albtunnel" today, a tunnel for cars, cyclists and pedestrians below the river Elbe. It was build 100 years ago to connect the docklands with Hamburg.
See me in the entrance.

Hi everyone,

Today Scilly showed us the St. Michaelis church, known as “Hamburger Michel”. The Michel is Hamburgs landmark. See me in front of the church.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111211/DSC014020003.jpg

There are many Christmas markets in Hamburg. This is the entrance of the biggest one in front of the city hall. The entrance is really nice, isn’t it? So many lights!
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111211/DSC014160014.jpg

this weekend we spend in Mecklenburg at Scillys parents. This is Scillys childhood home.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111218/DSC01449-1.jpg

In the morning we baked Christmas cakes. See me with the rolling pin.

Hi everyone,

today is the last day of the year. We spend the weekend in Mecklenburg. In the evening we will have a New Years Eve party. But in the afternoon we took a long walk through Ludwigslust. See the nice palace behind me.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231/DSC01547.jpg

This is the view opposite the castle with a waterfall.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231/DSC01548.jpg

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231/DSC01549.jpg

We found this church in the park behind the palace.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231/DSC01556.jpg

There are many small lakes and streams in the park.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231/DSC01560.jpg

On the way home Scilly showed us the old castle in Neustadt-Glewe.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231/DSC01565.jpg

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231/DSC01576.jpg

Unfortunately the castle museum was closed.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231/DSC01570.jpg

Now I'm looking forward to the New Years Eve party.

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone,

This evening we had a little New Years Eve party. We sat on the party table and talked to each other.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231_1/DSC01582.jpg

Scilly bought some roman candles. Look, that’s me with my favorite one. It is funny, isn’t it?

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231_1/DSC01584.jpg

At midnight we saw the fantastic firework. This was a nice start for the new year!

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers/20111231_1/DSC01602.jpg

And Scilly had a surprise for me. I will take part on a Germany-RR and start within the next week. I’m a little bit sad to leave all my new friends. But I also love to travel  :D I am soooo excited!

Hello Mum ,

today I arrived safely at HoBi’s home in Lower Saxony.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0992.jpg

Murph and Orpheus opened my envelope and helped me out of my envelope.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0995.jpg

I showed my gifts!

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_1002.jpg

A big thank you from HoBi.

The weather was horrible. But I want to see the world, so we decided to make a trip to Lamspringe.
There  is an old abbey.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0965.jpg

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0969.jpg

At the entrance to the abbey garden we found this interesting thing.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0970.jpg

In the past criminals had this ring around there neck and they were in the  pillory.

In the park was this old mill.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0984.jpg

They made the meal for the abbey there.

Unfortunately the water wheel didn’t move, because it is winter now.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0973.jpg

They had a big playground in the park. Orpheus and I wanted to play on the seesaw, but I was too heavy.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0975.jpg

Here starts the Lamme. It is a little river that flows through Bad Salzdetfurth, where HoBi and Murph are living.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0976.jpg

We saw three lakes – this was the biggest.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0980.jpg

I think that I will like it here – and hope to find a lot of more nice place in Lower Saxony.

Hi Mum,

Today I made a sightseeing-trip through the hometown of Murph. Here you can see the emblem of the town.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0944.jpg

Bad Salzdetfurth is an old mining city. And there are many machines out of this time all over the city.

On this sign you can learn a lot about the salt production.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0938.jpg

This is an old mine head tower.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0940.jpg

Wheels likes these ones were inside the towers.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0941.jpg

There are many beautiful houses in the city.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0946.jpg

There are two salines in the spa gardens.  In the Past people used them for producing salt.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0952.jpg

The salines are not working in the winter time. In one of the salines I found this. Beautiful – isn’t it?

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0959.jpg

This bumbling stone is really funny. You sit in it and then you bumble. It tingles in the belly!

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0953.jpg

Next to the bumbling stone is a colorful house for doves.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0956.jpg

On the way back I saw this beautiful house.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/IMG_0961.jpg

Bad Salzdetfurth is a nice small town!

Hello Mum,

Today we walked along the ‘Laves-Kulturpfad’ – a path of culture.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1064.jpg

The path started at the Derneburger Castle. It is really big.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1040.jpg

At a small river we saw this old weir. It belongs to an old mill.

We walked over the Laves-Bridge and crossed the Nette – a small river in Lower Saxony.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1046.jpg

Look – this house is in the water.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1051.jpg

There was a distillery in the next village.  The distillery produces the ‘Astenbecker Weizenkorn‘.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1052.jpg

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1057.jpg

Maybe I can try it in the next days?

Then we made a rest next to a big fishpond.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1059.jpg

These small fisherman houses were beautiful!

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1063.jpg

Then we found a strange thing. It was a pyramid in the middle of the forest. It is the grave of the first owner of the Castle.

There are still coffins inside the mausoleum. But it was too dark for a photo.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1067.jpg

The last thing we found in the forest was an old Greek temple. It was used as a teahouse in the Past.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Derneburg%20Jan%202012/IMG_1077.jpg

Then we went back home – to our cosy warm chair.

Hello Mum,

Today I was in Seesen – a town in the Harz Mountains.  There were windows in front of the famous monuments. You can sit there – and have a look.

This is the Castle Sehusa

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1004.jpg

The cellar of the town hall

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1006.jpg

The beautiful museum of the town

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1008.jpg

They restore the  St. Andreas-church at the moment.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1009.jpg

There were funny guys all over the town. They are Max and Moritz. I really love them.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1013.jpg

This old gate belongs to the ‚Koch’schen Hof’.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1017.jpg

Look – they were so colorful!

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1018.jpg

This is the old middle-class house.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1021.jpg

Have a look at th trousers of Moritz!

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1024.jpg

The man, you can see through this window , is Wilhelm Busch. He wrote the stories about Max and Moritz.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1027.jpg

Have you seen the phone box? It didn’t look really good.

At the end of our trip we saw the town hall of Seesen.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Seesen%20Jan2012/IMG_1029.jpg

It was a wonderful day!

Hi Mum,

Today is my last day in lower Saxony. The weather was horrible. It was cold and foggy. But we wanted to go outside, before I will spend some time in my envelope.

Can you see how cold it was?

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1078.jpg

I am sure that this pavilion will be beautiful in the summer time.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1082.jpg

There were many wonderful scrubs.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1084.jpg

You know that Bad Salzdetfurth is an old mining town. The miners used these baskets to get the salt out of the mine.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1089.jpg

On this sign we read how they did it.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1094.jpg

This is the Lamme – a small river that flows through Bad Salzdetfurth. Can you remember it? I saw the spring in Lamspringe.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1097.jpg

Bad Salzdetfurth has a street of planets. All over the town there are all planets in the right dimension and distance to the sun. Here I sat under the sun.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1101.jpg

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1105.jpg

Later we found the Earth.

http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb347/HoBi666/Badse%20Jan2012/Abschied%20Jan2012/IMG_1109.jpg

At home it was time to say goodbye to Orpheus and Murph.

I had such a great time in lower Saxony. But now I am curious about my new adventures with Noisy in Hessen.

Many greetings

Hello Mom!

I reached Noisys home!

I was welcomed by Hessen-Leo and Leopoldi, both are TVs, too. Hessen-Leo will show me his Hessen and some hessian specials, Leopoldi is sad, because his girl-friend Herlinde has left this house today. But I really think, we can bring him to nicer thoughts :-)

...and the village I stay quite now!
...and the town Weilburg!

2.picture can you spot the farm?
3.picture on the right side is Weilburg and on the left side in the edge is Gaudernbach my hosts village :-)
The river you can see is the Lahn. It splits the town and the whole country in Westerwald and Taunus.

Hey Mom!

Today we said HELLO to two new TVs.

We have read the story of the rainbowfish- you know, that I have brought a postcard with the rainbowfish here-, when Noisy brought us two big envelopes to open.

Mooky was 11 days in his little envelope and really glad to crawl out. He gave us his presents, 2 nice postcards from his home and two little very cute magnets.
And the other TV is Plato from the RR. Noisy is the last station before he will go home again. Perhaps he can tell us a lot of stories while he stays here with us.

HELAU and ALAAF!!!

We have seen a carnival parade, but we couldn't take pictures, we were so busy with looking for the others mascerades and catching the sweets and kissing the other Jecken and... ho, I'm happy!

When we came home, there was a little cow crawling out of her envelope. Fiete must take on a mascerade at once.

we made a polonese.

It was a funny day!

Miss you

Uuuuuuh.... I was allowed to visit a school!

Each Tuesday Noisy is going to the primary-school for helping some pupils with their homework.

There was a Teddy waiting for me, he gave me a warm welcome.

I read a poster showing the right snack for pupils.

And I looked at the nice pictures and the calender.

The pupil had build two houses with electricity.

The coat of arms shows a lion with red and white stripes. Since  about 700 years it is the coat of arms of this area.

The capital of Hesse is Wiesbaden.

As you know the capital of Thuringia is Erfurt. And that is where we went today.

We started our little walking tour next to the river Gera that runs through the city.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010462.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010463.jpg

Erfurt is a  lovely city with quite some history and old buildings.

This is the town hall...

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010464.jpg

on the fish market.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010466.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010465.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010472.jpg

Turning right to get to the next stop we met 'Bernd das Brot'!

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010471.jpg

I guess that's probably because KIKA has its headquaters in Erfurt.

The most famous spot in Erfut is the 'Krämerbrücke' - a bridge built over the river.
It was built in the 14th century!!

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010470.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010469.jpg

Today, it is the only built on bridge in Europe that is still in use. There are little shops and flats above.

For the weekend we went to the north of Thuringia, to Mühlhausen.

On the map you can see the outline of the city with the old city wall that is still there.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010488.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010505.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010506.jpg

Let's go through one of the city gates and take a stroll through the city.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010504.jpg

There are lovely old half-timbered houses.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010497.jpg

The townhall is very old. The first parts where built in the 13th century.
Later some other buildings where added.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010485.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010487.jpg

Can you read Latin?

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010486.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010489.jpg

We also came passed the Divi Blasii Church.
A young Johann Sebastian Bach was an organist here in 1707!

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010496.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010493.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010490.jpg

Hey what's that? On the market square there is a time line!

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010498.jpg

You may have heard of Thomas Müntzer, a leader in the peasant war.
He was executed in front of the Mühlhausen wall gates.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010499.jpg

And do you know this guy?! It is John August Roebling (1806–1869),
the architect of the  Brooklyn Bridge in New York!
Did you know that he was from Mühlhausen!?

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010500.jpg

This is the 'Brotlaube', a building designed to store bread and dough in former times.
Today it is used by the town council.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010503.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010502.jpg

This building also has an intersting history as we can read on the plaque.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010495.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010494.jpg

And we finish our walk at the 'Marienkirche'.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010507.jpg

Mühlhausen is a really nice town worth a visit!

At home I had a look at a Thuringia map in my host's study to see where I am.

The Federal State of Thuringia is right in the middle of Germany, in
summer it is very green  here and therefore Thuringia is also called
'the green heart of Germany'.

Eisenach - home of Bach, Luther and the 'Sommergewinn'.

We started our little walking tour near the Luther house and I had
a look at the map to see where we are going.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010514.jpg

This is the Luther house in which Luther (is said to have) lived as a
child from 1498 to 1501. Today it is a museum.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010515.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010516.jpg

We continued along the street and came to the Bach-House.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010519.jpg

On the left side is the old Bach house in which he was born and on
the right you can see part of the newly added museum.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010520.jpg

In front there is a Bach memorial with some information.
I was eager to read it.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010517.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010518.jpg

On the market square I saw the Georges church in which Bach was
baptised and in which Luther preached.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010509.jpg

As you can see they are preparing a fun fair on the market square
because this weekend there is the 'Sommergewinn' -  a folk festival
to celebrate the arrival of summer. It is one of the biggest festivals
in Germany and the pageant will be broadcasted by the MDR.
We will also attend the pageant and I will show you more pictures after Saturday!

I took some time to find out more about the federal state that I visit right now: Thuringia.

The Free State of Thuringia is located in the centre of Germany.
It has an area of 16,171 square kilometres and about 2 million inhabitants.
It is the sixth smallest state by area and the fifth smallest by population.
The capital is Erfurt, where I already went!

Today we went to Eisenach to see the big
parade of the 'Sommergewinn'. It is one of the biggest festivals in
Germany celebrating the beginning of Summer. And we had summer
like weather with blue sky and sunshine all day long.

The parade was great with music and all different kinds of cars.
There were many other people too.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010552.jpg

The symbols of the festical are the cock, the egg and the pretzel.
The slogan is 'Gut Ei und Kikeriki' (good egg and kikeriki) and all
the people shouted it many times together.

Also shops decorated their windows for the festival.

Today we went for a little walk in the village to
get an idea of where I am.

Mechterstädt is in Thuringia near Eisenach and there live about
1000 people. This map shows how small the place is.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010580.jpg

There is  a village hall

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010583.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010584.jpg

and a church

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010589.jpg

The river Hoersel runs through the village.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010585.jpg

And at the moment there is a large construction site in the village
near the train station...

because of this:

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/iloveletters/Spencer/P1010593.jpg

The rail-crossing gates are closed very often because the railway
track is the main route from East to West. That's why there are
often traffic jams in the village and so the German Railway decided
to build a tunnel instead of the rail-crossing.

My host lives near the crossing on this street:

We had lovely sunny weather the last days and so I enjoyed myself on the balcony in the sun!  KalliHH joined me.

I even took of my scarf because it was too hot lying in the sun!

Today I visited a cemetary - yes, you read the correct location - cemetary. It's the cemetary at the Perlacher forest where several members of the White Rose are buried.

White Rose? What's that you may ask?
The White Rose (German: die Weiße Rose) was a non-violent, intellectual resistance group in Nazi Germany, consisting of students from the University of Munich and their philosophy professor. The group became known for an anonymous leaflet and graffiti campaign, lasting from June 1942 until February 1943, that called for active opposition to dictator Adolf Hitler's regime.
The six most recognized members of the group were arrested by the Gestapo and beheaded in 1943.

The graves of the members are close to my host's garden and she showed me the place. It is important to remember them!

Next to the turbines I noticed some light-coloured stones in the ground, they formed sort of a pattern. I read that they make a "living" sun clock. I tested immediately, sat down on the mark for "April". My shadow - little short though - showed in a direction. When I followed the direction I hit the mark for 10 o'clock. Yes, it was correct! The Auer Dult started yesterday. I took a stroll over the dult.
The Auer Dult is characteristic of Munich, the Bavarian capital. The history of the popular fair with its folkloric flair can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Nowadays the event is organized by the Munich Tourist Office.

Three times a year, the locals flock to the Mariahilfplatz, in the part of town called the "Au", which means "meadow" or "pasture": here they can walk around at leisure, shop for bargains, have a bite to eat and enjoy a good time. During the "Dult", the fairground, which spreads over 20,000 square meters, becomes an island in the heart of the city, alive with conversation and congeniality. Children young and old enjoy going on the bumper cars, the boat-like swings, the merry-go-round or the ferris wheel.

And if you like Punch and Judy, you must go see their Bavarian cousin, the famous " Kasperl von der AU". The Auer Dult is Europe's largest market for tableware and all kinds of pots and pans. New-fangled household products are proudly praised as "kitchen marvels". The junk dealers' wares conceal many a treasure, sometimes art and sometimes kitsch. Whether glass or porcelain, wax or wicker, cloth or leather, whether it's candy or an old-fashioned herbal remedy you're looking for: your heart's desire awaits you at the Dult.

On the way back to the tram we passed the park of Schloss Nymphenburg and saw the Magdalenenklause.

The third pavilion in the palace grounds, built by Joseph Effner, is the Magdalenenklause (Magdalene Hermitage), sited north of the Grand Parterre and constructed between 1725 and 1728. Elector Max Emanuel did not live to see the completion of the building, which was finished by his son, Elector Karl Albrecht.

The Magdalenenklause was conceived as the living quarters of a hermit and stands in a small, "overgrown" wood. Built with tiles and partly plastered, it looks like a ruin from the outside. Cracks in the masonry and crumbling plaster serve as a reminder of the frailty of all things earthly.

The one-storey building has a rectangular ground plan and is extended to the south and north with semicircular conchae. At the corners of the east front are circular turrets. The south part of the Hermitage comprises the Grotto Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene and a similarly grottoed Entrance Hall. To the north are the Electors' Apartments , which consist of monastically austere rooms with oak panelling " à la Capucine" and decorated with copper engravings.

Individual furnishings emphasize the building's strangeness, including the altarpiece in the chapel with a crucifix and two candlesticks made from a narwhal tusk and a Byzantine table crucifix in the refectory, which Max Emanuel took as booty during the Turkish wars in Hungary

The hermitage enabled the Elector to escape from reality, although his genuine contemplation here was mixed with courtly play. It is another extraordinary Effner creation. By using exotic and historicizing architectural forms, he produced a strange, romantic, anachronistic structure that incorporates both a serious aspect and elements of the courtly art of metamorphosis.

Nymphenburg Palace owes its foundation as a summer residence to the birth of the long-awaited heir to the throne, Max Emanuel, who was born in 1662 to the Bavarian Elector Ferdinand Maria and his wife, Henriette Adelaide of Savoy, after some ten years of marriage.

Today I went to my host's workplace - a primary school. She is a teacher of 4th graders. I'm sorry, but she didn't want to take photos with me, while her pupils were there - she said, that she had no time for it and I really believe, that she told the truth. She even had to run to take some photos with Stoker, Spencer and me of the Baden-Württemberg exhibition. Her pupils had made posters of different themes, but all of them have to do with Baden-Württemberg, which is the Bundesland (state), to which Bruchsal belongs.

Three pupils had to find out interesting places for pupils. Here are two of their posters:

Other pupils had to tell something about the Black Forest, the Schwarzwald, which is only about one hour drive from our host's home. The Black Forest is famous for the Kuckucksuhr, Black Forest Cake and the Black Forest costumes.

The Mummelsee is a 17-metre-deep lake at the western mountainside of the Hornisgrinde in the northern Black Forest of Germany. It is very popular with tourists travelling along the Schwarzwaldhochstraße. According to legends, the lake is inhabited by a Nix and the King of the Mummelsee.

And finally Stuttgart, which is the maincity of Baden-Württemberg. It is called Stuttgart, because there were farmhouses for mares - in German "Stuten". That's why you see a horse in the coat of arms. Stuttgart is also famous for Porsche, the oldest television tower and Wilhelma, the Stuttgart zoo.

At last I was allowed to sit on the large Germany puzzle. I sit next to Baden-Württemberg, you can see the red dot Freiburg. At the border, which is the thick green line you maybe can spot some blue, this is the river Rhine, which flows through Bodensee (the blue part at the border to Switzerland (CH) and Austria (A) to the Netherlands. Bruchsal is located in the Rhine valley.

In the early afternoon we went to see the baroque palace of Bruchsal. The most part of it was destroyed during the Second World War, but then rebuilt until 1975.

Schloss Bruchsal is one of the most beautiful Baroque palaces in Germany and the only episcopal Baroque residence on the Upper Rhine. The foundation stone was laid in 1722 by Cardinal Damian Hugo von Schönborn, Prince Bishop of Speyer, who made the palace the centre of his absolutist dominion.

There are nice chestnut alleys in the palace garden.

Happy Mother's Day, Mum.

For lunch we were in a restaurant today and then we went on a short walk through Bruchsal. Next to the restaurant is the old part of the city hall of Bruchsal. There are some shops like H&M and S.Oliver too since a few years. You see the coat of arms over the entrance of the city hall. City Hall adjacent to the Market Place is a modern building erected in the 1950s which has since been protected by law as an important historic structure.

When my host's parents in law were young, they lived in Trier-Ehrang. Actually they were born there and grew up there. We saw all the places, which were important for them. This town is a suburb of Trier, which is located in Rhineland-Palatinate. There live about 10 000 people and it is the third largest district of Trier. It has municipal laws since 1346 A.D.

Here we see the church St.Peter of Ehrang.

Because my host's parents in law are older people, we had no chance to have a walk in Trier and see all the sightseeing places really close. Her father in law sits in a wheelchair and her mother in law needs a walker, so it is too difficult for them. Nevertheless we took the chance to take a look at the sightseeing places from a place called Petrisberg. It was a bit difficult to take photos, though, first my host didn't have her own camera, second we had the sun against us and third either I or the landscape was sharp and so we had to zoom in some parts to give you a closer view on some places.

Trier is the oldest city in Germany, founded in or before 16 BC on the banks of the Moselle. Trier lies in a valley between low vine-covered hills of ruddy sandstone in the west of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, near the border with Luxembourg and within the important Mosel wine region.

The city is the oldest seat of a Christian bishop north of the Alps.

With an approximate population of 105,000 Trier is ranked fourth among the state's largest cities; after Mainz, Ludwigshafen, and Koblenz.

You can take a look at the link. My host says, that she loves Trier and that you should come and see it, if you get a chance to visit this part of Germany.

St. Matthias' Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in Trier. Monks have lived in the present St. Matthias' Abbey since late antiquity. The monastery adopted the Rule of St. Benedict in about 977. The abbey was originally named after Saint Eucharius, first Bishop of Trier, whose tomb is in the crypt. The church has been given the status of a basilica minor.

The abbey church, a Romanesque basilica, is a renowned place of pilgrimage because of the tomb of Saint Matthias the Apostle, after whom the abbey is named, located here since the 12th century, and the only burial of an apostle in Germany and north of the Alps.

Just above the tomb you see the sleeping statue of St. Matthias.

Our last stop was Igel, what is hedgehog in English - what a funny name for a town. We stopped here to take a photo of the Igel column, which is UNESCO World Heritage. The column is 23 metres high and was built in 250 A.D. by the brothers Lucius Secundinius Aventinus und Lucius Secundinius Securus. The original column is in a museum in Trier.

Our first stop was at the Hundertwasser house in Darmstadt, which belongs to the state of Hessen. The house is called "Waldspirale", "forest spiral" in English. It is a residential building complex built in the 1990s. It was designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, planned and implemented by architect Heinz M. Springmann, and constructed by the Bauverein Darmstadt company. The building was completed in 2000 after Hundertwasser's death.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7125/7418766448_5a01007125.jpg

It contains 105 apartments, a parking garage, a kiosk as well as a café and a bar. There are about 1000 windows and no two windows are the same.

You see the typical elements of Hundertwasser's personal style attract attention: the gilded onion domes, the absence of straight lines and sharp corners, the multicoloured painting of the building in earth tones and the colourful ceramic columns.

At next we drove to a place called "Mathildenhöhe". We all didn't know anything about this place, so we had to read about it. It's an artists colony and you can see some houses around the park, which were created by them.

There is a Russian Chapel built in 1897 and the Hochzeitsturm (wedding tower) built in 1906, which was created by one of those architecture artists, which I mentioned above.

We climbed the tower and took some photos from the top floor, but I'm sorry, the photos are blurry. It was just a problem of the sun and the camera was still the small one.

Finally it was time to drive to Frankfurt a.M., because we had to fetch my host's daughter there, who came with a flight from Athens, Greece. She was there with her class. We had no chance to see any planes, because we arrived to late to go outside on the terrace.

Hi Mum,

It was time to see more of Sülfeld. First we stopped at this nice lake – it was a little green.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012/G_0141.jpg

Behind me you can see the old school.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012/G_0149.jpg

This is the emblem of the village.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012/G_0154.jpg

Later we went to the church – first I learnt a lot about it and the surroundings.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012/G_0158.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012/G_0159.jpg

It is a beautiful building!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012/G_0166.jpg

We were lucky – the church was open.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012/G_0179.jpg

We had fun!

This is the old pharmacy.

At the end of our tour we enjoyed the sunshine and talked a lot! Some of the others will leave soon – but I will stay longer.

Hi Mum,

I went to Bad Oldesloe today. We went into a park with the theme children rights. I loved this funny house.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0003.jpg

This shelf was art – so I don’t have to understand all.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0008.jpg

I saw some ducks, but they went to other people, because they got food there.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0012.jpg

A nice view – but not really something interesting to see.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0013.jpg

This fountain was in front of the town hall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0019.jpg

The Stadthaus was next to the townhall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0018.jpg

There were some nice old houses in the town.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0024.jpg

And some beautiful flowers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0023.jpg

Look – a water wheel.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/A_0027.jpg

I loved playing on this duck.

Hi Mum,

We went to the Zoo of Hannover today. First I saw some hippos. They seemed to have a good life here – lying in the water!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0224.jpg

We made a boat trip in the Zoo – and I saw some other animals.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0227.jpg

Look – these animals are called zonkey – their parents are a donkey and a zebra.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0237.jpg

This friendly duck loved to swim next to our boat.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0238.jpg

We passed this nice house. I think that a fisherman lives here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0241.jpg

Then I saw zebras and giraffes – maybe you cannot see the animals that good as I did…

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0244.jpg

But you see this rhinoceros.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0246.jpg

A better view of the giraffes – the one in the middle was really young.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0253.jpg

Then we met smaller animals. They are called dogs, too  - prairie dogs.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0258.jpg

It was a great day in the Zoo. Dicker Kumpel told me that I will meet an old friend tomorrow!

I am really excited!

Hi Mum,

I was in Bad Salzdetfurth again. Can you remember it? I started the Big German RR there at the beginning of the year.

First I sat next to the saline and enjoyed the healthy air.

Just another view of the salines.

I sat in the Summstein and had fun!

This is a colorful house for doves.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0284.jpg

They opened a golf-course here – but it was too hot to play it for us.

Hi Mum,

We were in another nice city this weekend – called Hildesheim. There were many wonderful old houses. See me in front of one of the nicest I have ever seen.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0313.jpg

Next to it was a smaller one.

This is the town hall.

Look – a wonderful old post box.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0333.jpg

Then we went to a big church – called St. Michalis.

Can you see us under this statue?

Hi Mum,

This weekend we drove to the town Harburg – and went around this lake. This photo was a little dark.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0422.jpg

But a little later I sat in the sunshine!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0425.jpg

We went to a park – it must have been beautiful in the Past.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0432.jpg

We found some nice flowers in one corner of the park.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0438.jpg

Then there was a big surprise – we went to another part of the park – and it was so beautiful!

I loved these flowers – and would have loved to send you some!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0460.jpg

Today I spoke with RikeH and we decided that I will start my trip to FraJ tomorrow. She will take me on a big holiday – outside of Europe – I am so excited!!!

I said goodbye to Dicker Kumpel – he was such a great host! Mum -  he told me that I will be welcome at his home whenever I need a nice host!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2012a/G_0468.jpg

Then all the others gave me a big hug.

I'm in Bavaria now:) Aschaffenburg. It is a city in northwest Bavaria and belonged to the Archbishopric of Mainz for more than 800 year. The town is located on both sides of the River Main. The second river is the small Aschaff which flows in the western part of the town into the River Main.

Schloss Johannisburg is a castle in Aschaffenburg that was erected between 1605 and 1614 by Georg Ridinger. Until 1803, it was the second residence of the prince bishop of Mainz. It is constructed of red sandstone, the typical building material of the area around Aschaffenburg.

Schloss Johannisburg is one of the most important buildings of the Renaissance period in Germany. At the end of the 18th century, the interior was restructured in the style of classicism.

Sunny greetings!

After plenty of beach visits, it was time for the Big Buddha! Then I've been looking forward all the time!

A 45 m high statue, which was funded only by donations.
The Great Buddha is seated on a high mountain in the south of Phuket and you have a great view!

http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/j3og-9m-357a.jpg

http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/j3og-9k-f9b9.jpg

But now the most important:

The Big Buddha!

http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/j3og-9j-2f2b.jpg

He is not quite ready yet. And you can buy a small slab of marble and write a wish or a greeting and financed so on completion...

And a small bronze Buddha is there too!

http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/j3og-9o-0402.jpg

Very impressive!

On the way back we passed a temple. We dared to get in it. Because when you enter holy places, one must sometimes even 2-3 hours of punitive praying...

http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/j3og-9n-819f.jpg

Meanwhile worse weather for the next week is reported. So let's see what we can do then ...

Hi everyone,

yesterday I have heard in the radio that we had only one hour of sunshine in Hamburg until now. And indeed it was cloudy or rainy every day.
But today the sun was shining a little bit. The perfect time for a walk.

First we crossed the river Alster.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07266.jpg

On the other side of the bridge they are building a new lock with a fish ladder :-)

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07277.jpg

This is a prison - a place I never want to see from the inside. It is called Santa Fu and probably the most famous prison in Germany because many people escaped in the 70s and 80s. But no fear - I am a well behaved TV.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07282.jpg

This is a very funny tower. First I thougt it is a lighthouse. But we are not by the sea. Hmmmmm.... we learned it is a radar tower for the nearby airport.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07292.jpg

As we were near by we decided to visit the airport.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07306.jpg

Look how many destinations the german airways Lufthansa flys to directly from Hamburg. Maybe some new ideas where I can travel to?
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07308.jpg

Back at home we had to say good bye to Alex. He will go to the USA. We all gave him a big hug.

Hi everyone,

after a mild beginning it is now freezing in Hamburg with a little bit of snow. We decided to take a walk and enjoy the ice and snow in the Alstertal (Alster valley).
Look at me skidding on the ice.

Hi everyone,

another sunny day on the Costa del Sol. But today is our last day in Malaga.
To enjoy the lovely sunshine we had a coffee in a café on the harbour promenade.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07660_zps9fd53181.jpg

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07660_zps9fd53181.jpg

Then it was time to catch our flight back to Hamburg. See me on flight AB2587 from Malaga to Hamburg - sundown over spanish airspace!
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07694_zps352207c5.jpg

Then like good TV's should we red the flight safety instructions.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC07716_zps75c270fa.jpg

See me enjoying the flight with good food, music and something to read.

Now we are back in cold Hamburg.

Hi Mum, hi Dad,

This week I arrived in Sülfeld, because Dicker Kumpel invited me to go on a holiday with him. It was great to see him again.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0470.jpg

He introduced me to his other guests – three nice ToyVoyager!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0471.jpg

Today we decided to travel to Hamburg. Of course I know it, but I wanted to spend more time with my friends. We started at the Port of Hamburg.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0475.jpg

I had nice views, although the sky wasn’t that blue.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0483.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0484.jpg

Look – a wonderful old sailing ship.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0490.jpg

This is a monument. People from Vietnam from the Cap Anamur gave it to Hamburg.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0496.jpg

Another old ship - called Cap San Diego.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0500.jpg

Then we went into the Speicherstadt – with many old storage houses.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0506.jpg

Really near to the old houses they built new modern houses.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0507.jpg

It was interesting, but very cold. Fortunately we will  fly to the Caribic soon.

Hi Mum, hi Dad,

Today I found the first flowers in the garden. They were small and yellow.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0511-1.jpg

Near to it I found white flowers

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0517.jpg

This funny guy has his own plant. He sits outside all year round.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/V_0522.jpg

For me it was too cold outside, I wanted a last photo with a flower – but inside the house.

My friends and I are on the cruise ship now. This is our bed.

Here you see a little more of our cabin.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0002.jpg

For the start we got some delicious sweets and a bottle of champagne.

Later we relaxed on our balcony.

Hi Mum, hi Dad,

I had a lazy day hanging around on the ship. I will show you more photos of it later – but today I had something delicious to eat.

First I had a basket of assorted tortilla des maiz strips.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0012.jpg

For dessert I had strawberries dipped in chocolate. They looked wonderful.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0017.jpg

And they were delicious – I ate them all.

Hello Mum, hello Dad,

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0027.jpg

This photo was so funny – but let’s start earlier this day. We arrived in Oranjestad this morning. What a nice view!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0033.jpg

Before I started my exciting trip on the island, I had delicious breakfast.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0036.jpg

Look – really big cactus-plants.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0042.jpg

And a wonderful beach. It was a little windy, as you can see.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0048.jpg

Later we stopped at another nice place.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0051.jpg

It was a funny trip – and now you can see, why. We drove on a segway.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0055.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0056.jpg

Our last stop was next to a lighthouse.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0058.jpg

I decided to taste a coconut.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0063.jpg

A last view from our balcony – then we had to leave.

Hello Mum and Dad,

Today we visited Willemstad – a nice city on the Curacao Island. They have nice bridge there, called Queen Emma Bridge. It is a Pantoon Bridge and called The Swinging Lady. We went over it – and when we reached the other side – it started swinging.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0101.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0107.jpg

Behind the bridge you can see my cruise ship – the M/S Riviera.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0109.jpg

In the city is a floating market – here you see a part of it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0111.jpg

There were many beautiful and colorful houses here. This was a synagogue.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0113.jpg

More colorful houses.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0118.jpg

And a yellow church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0122.jpg

After some walking we saw the bridge again. This time people walked over it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0127.jpg

I loved the nice houses. Behind me you see the Governors Palace.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0133.jpg

Houses in the Breedestraat.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0136.jpg

Well – did I already tell you that I love this bridge?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0149.jpg

I had a great view from the bridge.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0145.jpg

Back on the ship I relaxed and then I walked on the upper deck and had these views over the city.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0155.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0160.jpg

Look – there was another cruise ship.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0163.jpg

This is our ship – I went into the pool after this photo, because it was so hot – we had about 31 degrees Celsius!

Hello Mum, hello Dad,

Another sunny day on our trip. Behind me you see our ship.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0179.jpg

Our first short stop gave us a nice view over the small harbor.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0184.jpg

Grenada is the Island of the nutmegs. You see one next to me, on the other side there is a fruit of cocoa.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0190.jpg

I walked to the Concorde Waterfalls.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0196.jpg

Then we went to a factory for the nutmegs. I look a little strange on this photo, but I wanted to show you these signs, they were used to paint the destination onto the sacks for the shipping.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0203.jpg

Here were some nutmegs.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0205.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0207.jpg

They were packed here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0212.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0218.jpg

At this place they dry the nutmegs.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0224.jpg

This is the machine to open the nutmegs.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0227.jpg

I learnt a lot in this factory. It was so interesting.

Other beautiful flowers – and a palm tree.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0232.jpg

Our last stop was at a volcano lake.

Hi Mum, hi Dad,

We visited Kingstown today. To tell the truth, we didn’t like it too much. There weren’t many touristic places to visit, and it was very crowded on narrow streets. But we found one nice place – a church called St. George’s Cathedral.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0246.jpg

Next to the church was another church – St. Mary’s Catholic Church – but it looked very dark!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0247.jpg

In the park of St. George’s I found beautiful flowers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0253.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0259.jpg

Because we didn’t feel so great in the town, we returned onto our ship – and looked over Kingstown.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0262.jpg

Maybe you can see the kind of houses they have here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0278.jpg

I loved the color of the water – in reality it looked nicer than on the photo.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0269.jpg

The clouds looked dark, but we had no rain – only high temperatures and a very high humidity.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0273.jpg

These are the stairs in the foyer of our ship.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0283.jpg

Maybe I should have such a lamp at home, too.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0291.jpg

A really strange color, isn’t it?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0292.jpg

But it was a nice chair in the Grand Bar.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0293.jpg

Many greetings

Hello Mum, hello Dad,

Our next Port of Call was Bridgetown.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0349.jpg

I loved this nice old sailing ship.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0301.jpg

There were some small yachts near to it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0306.jpg

There was a small arch – but I don’t know, what it was good for.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0312.jpg

I took a rest under this big tree.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0317.jpg

This is the St Michael’s Cathedral.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0328.jpg

Behind me you can see the Parliament.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0333.jpg

Do you know this man – it is Lord Nelson.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0339.jpg

This was another beautiful building in the city.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0343.jpg

Back on the ship I was hungry and I ate 3 sandwiches.

Hello Mum, hello Dad,

Today we made a nice trip over the St. Lucia Island. Our first stop was near to a village called Anse La Raye.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0354.jpg

We stopped at another point of view – and saw the fishing village Canaries.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0360.jpg

Look – banana Plants.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0365.jpg

It was amazing – we saw the majestic Pitons.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0367.jpg

Then we drove into a vulcano and saw the Sulphur Springs.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0373.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0377.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0388.jpg

The springs were interesting – but had a bad smell – so we decided to leave and visited a nice Botanical Garden.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0394.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0399.jpg

There was a beautiful waterfall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0404.jpg

This place is called Marigot Bay – the site where the original Dr. Doolittle movie was filmed.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0411.jpg

We spent our afternoon at the beach.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0415.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0422.jpg

I loved this view.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0426.jpg

And I had fun at the beach.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0432.jpg

When we went back to our car we saw these palms.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0439.jpg

This view was so beautiful – typical for the Caribbean, I think.

Hello Mum, Hello Dad,

I am famous and I am beautiful – so I had to visit this Island. It is called Saint Barthélemy or St. Barts.

From my balcony I saw this big yacht.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0501.jpg

This was the port of Gustavia.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0507.jpg

I stopped at the Stone Anglican Church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0512.jpg

On the other side of the street there was this big anchor.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0517.jpg

Behind me you see one of the oldest houses here – the Dinzey House, built circa 1820.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0522.jpg

Hello Mum, hello Dad,

We were alone in our cabin and decided to have a look at the minibar.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0700.jpg

We found some nice drinks and put all onto our table.

I decided to take this beautiful bottle.

One was not enough – I found a second one.

Well – we had a great party!

Dear Mum,  dear Dad,

The evening was wonderful – but I didn't feel great this morning.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0726.jpg

RikeH brought some ice for my aching head.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0728.jpg

Afterwards we got some medicine.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0730.jpg

Later that day I felt better – and had a great breakfast in the suite. Be sure that I didn't drink the champagne.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0733.jpg

This was my last day on the cruise ship. I really loved it here.

Hello Mum, Hello Dad,

We were back in Germany – and look – it was still winter!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0827.jpg

These icicles were very long!

There was a lot of snow in the garden.

Hello Mum, Hello Dad,

The snow was still here – and we took a long walk.

What a long way!

Hello Mum, Hello Dad,

The bunnies were really excited today. We asked why – it was Easter.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0873.jpg

Time to search some Easter eggs and other chocolate. I found something!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0875.jpg

Well – there was something in the basket of the bunny. But it was so high above the ground.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0883.jpg

I asked Long Hippo to help me.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0885.jpg

It was much easier this way.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0890.jpg

I got the chocolate bunny.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0889.jpg

Later we all sat together and were happy, because we all find a lot of delicious sweets.

Today we visited Dicker Kumpel’s grandma. Believe it or not – I met the Easter bunny there.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0917.jpg

It was so great to meet the Easter bunny. Then it was time for coffee and cake.

It was delicious!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0915.jpg

I had fun with other bunnies!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0922.jpg

And a chicken was there, too.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_0926.jpg

Later in the afternoon I went into the garden and sat in the sunshine.

I met another bunny there –he gave me this wonderful Easter egg.

Hello Mum, hello Dad,

Today RikeH told us that she had a surprise for us.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1004.jpg

We were so curious.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1005.jpg

What is this? A bath tub?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1006.jpg

Oh no – we hate to bath!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1007.jpg

But RikeH told us that we were dirty after our cruise. So we had a look – it was really water in the bath tub.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1008.jpg

We got some bath foam.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1010.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1011.jpg

I was brave and jumped into the bath tub.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1012.jpg

It was not as bad as we thought.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1013.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1016.jpg

I was very wet.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/CAR_1020.jpg

Finally we were allowed to come out of the bath. We had to dry, but we are clean ToyVoyagers now.

Hello Mum, Hello Dad,

RikeH remembered that I love train travels. She always travels to her work with a train – so I went with her today. In the morning we both were too tired to take photos. So we first went to her working place. On the way back to the station we saw this nice house.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0023.jpg

There were some artists.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0024.jpg

And a man playing piano on the street.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0025.jpg

Another guy played with footballs.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0026.jpg

Behind me you can see the main station of Hamburg.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0028.jpg

Many trains were on the plan.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0029.jpg

There was a yellow-blue train – but I didn’t want to take it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0030.jpg

The red ones look better.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0031.jpg

Bargteheide seems to be a good place to go to.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0032.jpg

We took this train.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0034.jpg

The train was so full – and we didn’t have a nice place for the first 15 minutes.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0037.jpg

Later the train was empty and I had my own seat.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A%2013/AP_0040.jpg

Bit I preferred the place next to the window.

Hi everyone,
after a great with RikeH and Dicker Kumpel I am back travelling with Scilly and Richy.
And if the spring doesn't come to Hamburg, than we fly to the sun!
Today we flew to Madeira to spend our holiday on this beautiful island. Directly from the airport we went to the Market hall to buy some fruits for the weekend.
See me in front of the market hall of Funchal.

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC08324_zps62ade449.jpg

Then we went to our holiday apartement. Look what a wonderful view over Funchal. We even can see the harbour with the cruise ships.

I had a great time with Dicker Kumpel, but today we had to say goodbye.

My other friends here gave me a big hug.

I am happy to see you soon, but I was a little sad to leave. Dicker Kumpel and I are close friends - so we decided to stay in contact - and maybe we will travel together sometime in the future.  B)

Hi everyone,

today we went to the heart the heart of the island Madeira and visited the village Curral das Freiras in the valley of the nuns. In former times the nuns were hiding here from the enemies at sea (pirates). Even now it is very difficult to get here. But there are brave local bus drivers, which get here (I myself can confirm, that they are very brave and very good drivers). And today it was extra difficult due to the fog on the mountains (sights under 5 m).
See me in the villages in front of some houses and the local church.

first on this morning we went to the market hall. It was early enough to visit the fish hall.
http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff516/ScillyHH/Toyvoyagers%202/DSC08349_zpsc77f22bd.jpg

Then we went to Porto Moniz. This small village is the most north-westerly conurbation on the island. There are two natural rock pools. And with the sunshine we had a great day.

today we visited the Botanic Gardens of Funchal.
They are in the upper part of town. So we took the "Tereferico" (cable car) to get there.
See me and my friends sitting in one of the cabins.

hello from austria  :D

end of september we visited the castle of kreuzenstein (Burg Kreuzenstein)

it was constructed on the remains of an early medieval castle that had fallen into disrepair and was then demolished during the Thirty Years' war. it was rebuilt in the 19th century and was constructed out of sections of medieval structures from all over europe to form an authentic-looking castle.  the castle is sometimes used as a location for films:
