miapearl Posted Feb 8, 2011, 4:52 pm	My mummy gave me a necklace with a nice tag on it. I can now become  a ToyVoyager.  The world is a big place. What do I want to see there? I shall need some missions. Any suggestions are welcome, please message my mummy. I am so excited. Mummy, where can I go first?
miapearl Posted Feb 10, 2011, 8:30 pm	A big parcel arrived at my mum's house. Shall we take a look inside? Wow, look at all that K'Nex! My big brother likes building things with K'Nex.
miapearl Posted Feb 11, 2011, 11:23 am	Mummy took me down to town at lunch time. There's a big castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Works are currently being done to improve the area. This statue is of David Lloyd George, who was a Member of Parliament for the area, and became Prime Minister. It started to rain so we went home.
miapearl Posted Mar 1, 2011, 1:28 pm	Today, we drew straws to see who would go out with Mummy! I won. We've come to Techniquest, a hands on science centre associated with Glyndwr University in Wrexham There were all sorts of illusions and mixed messages! The B becomes 13. Heat sensitive things. Another one. My mummy's hand print. Mirrors. How many of me can you see? A parabolic mirror A Bernoulli blower. Sound waves. Daddy played something on his mobile phone for that. Outside, we caught the end of a rocket-launching session. I think they said the pressure they were going up to was 50psi for these demonstations.  Back inside, there's a weather station. It wasn't a very windy day. This is an orb, with a layer of fluid between two domes. Shiny crystals in the fluid show the lines of flow.

miapearl Posted Mar 3, 2011, 5:00 pm	It's party time! It is Captain Caramel's birthday. There's a candle on the cake. After the cake, we played with these balloons!
miapearl Posted Mar 6, 2011, 6:31 pm	On our way home, we went via Magna, an industrial science museum set in an old steelworks near Rotherham/Sheffield. There were 4 zones. The first zone we went to was Water. A whirlpool exhibit. Everything's blue-y purple. A water cycle exhibit, with "clouds" and a little river. Next, we went to Fire. This is a fire tornado. Lighting isn't that good for photographs with the fire tornado. Next stop was Air. This is a musical exhibit with tubes and things. The exhibit can be quite noisy. We then went for a game of Air hockey. The air blows through holes in the table and lifts up the puck ever so slightly. This is a frequency exhibit with little polystyrene balls bouncing. This is a different frequency. Before going on to the final area, we caught some of the Big Melt show, a reconstruction of how they made steel. This is the arc furnace. We went to the final area, Earth. The set up is quarrying "rocks" and these get picked up by the children and taken somewhere by wheelbarrow before going on conveyor belts and distributed either back to the "quarry" or to a chute. Can you see the "rocks" on the conveyor belt?
