After a day with my family and our new friend Hale I came to Farmington New Mexico where I have been training and exercising because I want to join the army.
This is me and Hale in the picture and if you click here you can see a video of our trip to the Four Corners. My brother Picado has already left on travels on his and my other brother Morado has traveled around with our friend and host and brought Florence back from Florida. |

After a successful visit to the Army recruiter Coney is now on his way to Baghdad, Iraq. |

wourpet Posted Jun 26, 2007, 5:41 pm |
I wish I had some news or an update but I am just being a worry wart. Coney was deployed to Iraq and has yet to check in. When I read all the reports on the news I get very worried and hope to hear from him soon.
Wuff on the Rocks Posted Jun 27, 2007, 5:24 am |
Well, I finally made it! I arrived in Iraq a few days ago, and after having to wait in a large mail container, I was finally sent to my new unit. Right after I got there, they geared me up, and we went out on patrol!

In a brief offline IM this morning Coney explained that he's getting an op order tonight for a mission tomorrow, his last 3 missions got scratched at the staging area....and he wants a big can of country time lemonade
Wuff on the Rocks Posted Jul 18, 2007, 1:05 pm |
Well, today we were supposed to goto another FOB, but unfortunately Wuffy and I had to give up our seats, so another soldier could link back up with his unit.
I did get a picture of me and Wuffy chilling out, right before we got the news. |
||
wourpet Posted Jul 21, 2007, 5:35 pm |
While I haven't got an official update on the travel log I did get an IM from Coney. He mentioned that in his last photo he was listening to
He also asked me to point out that Wuffy is the one with the shades. |

Wuff on the Rocks Posted Jul 26, 2007, 9:42 pm |
Well, it's been a hectic couple of days recently, with plenty of missions, most of them being scratched, and of course, the one that didn't get scratched, was a night mission, so I was unable to have any pictures taken. Today was real rough, we got called up quite a few times, and on one of the call ups, me and Wuffy had to run back to the barracks in full equipment. Even though we have been working out, even that short of a distance, approximately 200-300 yards, was devastatingly rough. Poor Wuffy almost didn't make it back to the trucks.
Tomorrow, I will try and get some photo's taken, and uploaded. |
||
Wuff on the Rocks Posted Aug 1, 2007, 11:23 am |
Well it's been a relatively quiet couple of days recently. Not too many missions recently, thankfully too, since the heat has been spiking up to degrees of around 127* Fahrenheit! But one of Wuffy's friends sent him a box of mr. freeze ice treats they are great on hot days, I especially love the yellow, red and orange flavors.
Today we had to clean ammo, I have a picture of me and Wuffy II working together on a belt of 7.62 rounds. |

Coney has sent home some pictures. Not much info to go with them but I'm sure he'll report in when he gets a chance.

Coney just called home and he is waiting at the airport in Kuwait for a flight home. He said Wuffy is travelling with him but is very tired since they have been waiting at the Bagdad International Airport for hours for a flight out. The flights kept getting delayed because of sandstorms. He said to tell everyone he is bringing lots of pictures to update his travel log once he gets home. He will be home only a short time and does not know where the army will be sending him next.
wourpet Posted Sep 11, 2007, 8:05 pm |
I am home on leave for a couple weeks. It was a long trip home and took 5 days to get here. We had lots of flights cancelled for sandstorms in Baghdad and floods in Texas. We finally arrived at Albuquerque at 2045 Hrs MDT. My sister Rosa was there to greet us and Wuffy helped her up to climb up and give me a hug.
When we got home there were flags and balloons and signs and banners everywhere to welcome me and Wuffy home. Today I am getting some rest. Tomorrow I am going to get out all the pictures I brought home with me. |

Today we had new guests arrive! Froddo and Daisy Duck arrived from Iowa. Daisy Duck is from Great Britain and Froddo is from Australia. Its kinda nice to be around to welcome these people but I have a sworn duty to protect so I will soon be going back to the combat zone. Right now I will take advantage and relax a little though. |

I am not actually in Baghdad today but I am still updating photos from my missions there. I have many pictures that aren't good because its hard to take pictures out the side of the humvee.
Others turned out okay but I am waiting on security clearance. It is very important to be careful what I post. |

I'm enjoying my leave and getting some sightseeing done. We went ot the Aztec Ruins today. The Aztec Ruins National Park is on sacred ground. The park became a world heritage site in 1987.
The ruins were not really from the Aztec but from Pueblos long before. By studying the trash layers the archeologists discovered that the ruins were home to 2 distinct groups at 2 distinct times. The builders were Pueblo Indians. Construction of some of the old buildings dates back to before the 1100's. The West Ruin was the largest of the buildings and had at least 400 rooms rising 3 stories. It was a public building like todays civic centers. The Hubbard Site was built with three walls surrounding a Kiva. 22 rooms were built into the walls. The Great Kiva is like a sanctuary or worship place and is in the West Plaza at the ruins. It was rebuilt in 1934 so we would know what it looked like. |

We headed out on a road trip today. I was joined by Froddo, Rosa and Daisy Duck. We were heading to Grand Junction, Colorado but we drove north through Utah. The beginning of the trip was pretty cool with some exciting rock formations. The first notable one was Shiprock near the town of Shiprock in New Mexico. It is the core of an old volcano that has all the rest of the mountain blown away by the wind.
For most of the trip it was too dark for pictures so wourpet showed us some from a previous trip. We went through the Canyonlands, where all the rock is very red. Arches park was along the road but we didn't drive into it at night. We drove through Dove Creek and Monticello and the entrance to Arches National Park. |

We will be here for 2 days but there isn't going to be much sightseeing. Wourpet said this trip is all about work.

Wow, nobody sits still for long around here. We left Farmington for another trip to Grand Junction Colorado. Wuffy came along this time with me and Rosa and we saw some neat scenery through New Mexico and Utah. We drove through the canyonlands of Utah and then back into Colorado on the I-70.
After we got here we went and soaked in the hot tub for awhile. |
||
wourpet Posted Sep 29, 2007, 6:43 pm |
We only stayed for one night in Grand Junction and came back to Farmington today. We drove back through the mountains and 3 mountain passes along the San Juan Skyway. There was snow in the mountains.

Tonight is our last night stateside so Wuffy and I (and his new friend wuffy III) are hangin' out at the Holiday Inn Select in Albuquerque. We have a wake-up call for 4 am but the staff here is being so great and giving us free meals and drinks so we're enjoying our last night of our leave.
Our room is really cool -- it even has a couch. I think I'll take the king size bed and let Wuffy take the couch. |
||
wourpet Posted Oct 1, 2007, 4:58 am |
Not a great start to our day. We missed our wakeup call at 4 but got up soon after and raced to get our civies sent back home and get into our uniform for travel. The hotel shuttle waited for us and we made it to the airport with just a little time to spare. It would have been great if Wuffy had gone to the right airline counter but when we finally got to our plane they had upgraded us to first class. Wow -- first class for our first flight. We flew to Dallas Texas first and eventually ended up in Shannon Ireland. Wuffy was checking out the irish pub but I told him he had a little too much Irish last night and we almost missed our flight.

wourpet Posted Oct 1, 2007, 5:09 am |
I have no idea what day it is really. We phoned home when we got here and wourpet said it was 5:30 pm in New Mexico -- on Sunday but our clock was showing 2:30 on Monday. We lost a lot of time getting here and after our 4 a.m. ruster I am going to get some sleep before we move out.

Wow. The Christmas Care Packages are arriving. Its a bummer to spend Christmas over here but at least we still get some presents to open. Heres some that have come in already.
and we got care packages from Blue Star Mothers in New Mexico AND Colorado. Presents from Home and from friends and family make things a little nicer over here. Of course I think most of these are for Wuffy. |

It is suddenly of the utmost importance that the Conejo family rounds up all the strays and travelers for a family reunion at Easter. It would seem that Ahumado (Coney) Conejo is due to return from Iraq. His timing, even if we don't know the exact date, is excellent since it was one year ago on March 24 of 2007 that the Conejo family were rescued in Springerville Arizona and set off on their worldly adventures. However it seems the fate of the Conejo family is not a happy one and many may have possibly ended up in the stew pot.
Coney joined the army and was soon in Baghdad traveling around in tanks and hummers. Azul ran off with a new and unknown friend following a July 4th parade and is likely deep in the Navajo Nation with no internet communication and unable to report in. Picado has clocked a remarkable amount of miles as he has crisscrossed the globe and is currently in California. He will make one last visit to Florida before returning home for the reunion. Morado has just started out on the Russian TVT so he will not be able to make it home, or so he says, but the pictures from Germany and Russia are indicative of a fondness for partying. Rosa spent most of the year at home waiting for Coney but was invited by a park ranger (after she had left her wallet and ID behind at Aztec Ruins National Park) to visit a friend in France where she would be able to reach a life mission and visit a winery. First, though, she would spend some time with the Park Ranger, including a road trip around Montana. She traveled from the snow of Montana to the vinelands of France in December and will hopefully be heard from again this spring. Maybe she can even come home for the reunion and then return to France. Blanche went to Australia and it would appear she fell into the fate every little rabbit worries about -- the stew pot – and she was never heard from again. All attempts to contact her host or to have her moved on have gone unanswered. The rest of the Conejo family is of little help. With Azul missing in action on the Navajo Nation, or maybe also in the stew pot, Rosa snowed either under in the wilds of Montana or crushing grapes in France, or also in the stew pot, Morado partying and dancing in Russia, and sufficiently stewed even if he’s not in a pot and Blanche in the billycan -- it is going to be a sad affair when Picado is the only Conejo present to welcome his brother Coney home from his long deployment in Baghdad. It would be so good if the Conejos could find their way back home. |

I am back from my mission in Iraq and will be going to Ft Bragg for a debriefing before my next mission. I don't know when I will be able to make it home to see my family.

Well I sure lucked out for Easter (and my Birthday) and got a pass to go home for the weekend. Wuffy and I spent last night in Raleigh at the airport and this morning we flew to Baltimore MD. Here I am in the airport waiting for our plane to come in that will take us to Denver, CO.

This afternoon we landed in Grand Junction at Walker Field Airport and did we ever get a big surprise. There were Patriot Guard Riders with a flag line in the lobby and all kinds of people to welcome us and give us gifts. There were 2 TV crews there and a newspaper reporter.
The reporter wanted to know all about me and why I had been in Baghdad and what I did there. |

Today when I went out to wander around the back yard I met a new friend Cool Jules who is visiting here right now.
We will go on some adventures together before I leave back to Ft Bragg and my next military mission. I also bumped into Charlie but he remembered me even though I have been gone so long. In the house I found a pineapple I was going to nibble on but wourpet told me it was for the Easter ham. |

wourpet Posted Mar 27, 2008, 8:29 pm |
In honor of my birthday tomorrow, and Easter today, we went up on the Colorado Monument.
Cool Jules and Lucky-Ducky came too and they have more pictures. Tomorrow I will be heading back to Ft Bragg because my leave is over. |

OH NO!!! I missed my plane to North Carolina. I got up early with Wuffy and got my things gathered up. Wuffy carried his bags out to Wourpets truck and I was trying to drag mine out when they drove away. I tried to follow them to the airport and couldn't call because they didn't leave me a cell. Now I don't know what to do. Wuffy called and said I am AWOL!
This is serious! |

wourpet Posted Mar 27, 2008, 9:03 pm |
I still haven't made arrangements to get back to Ft Bragg but wourpet said we'll work it out. We were planning a send off for Cool Jules because he's heading back to Miami. While we were getting him packed some new guests showed up. Candy Cotton and Mittens arrived. Wourpet was happy to see them because they have been missing for a very long time but the host that had them finally sent them on.
This is a picture of me with Mittens, Lucky-Ducky (back from a long visit in Porvoo Finland), Cool Jules and Candy Cotton. |

Tonight I had a special mission to do. There was a SSG coming home from Ft Huachuca. She has been with the army since 2004 and she was in Iraq too. She is an MP and is now stationed in Ft Huachuca. She just re-enlisted for another 6 years and she was com ing home on leave. We decided to give her a big welcome home even if she wasn't coming into the airport. We all gathered at her house in the dark and at 2100 hours she drove in and was quite surprised. We were lined up holding flags on both sides of the street and all around the driveway. My job was to holler if I heard a car coming because we were on a corner.
We didn't get anymore pictures because we had to put the camera away and hold the flag. |

wourpet Posted May 5, 2008, 6:11 am |
Today we got to travel. We got a nice comfiy spot on the dash of the truck where we could see out the window.
Soon after we started on our voyage it started to storm. We were worried it would be a very stormy trip. We drove right through the storm and soon it was nice and clear again. We drove into some very steep mountains and wourpet told us we would be climbing right up over top of them. and we did and there was snow up on top of the mountains too! The first town we came to was Rangely, Colorado. |

Whoopee!!
Tomorrow SPC Wuffy is taking me back to Ft Bragg but today I had a blast with the jet boat. TibiPanda got a little carried away and came flying right up on the banks. We didn't all scatter out of his way fast enough but fortunately there were no injuries. |

Well -- this is it. I'm back on duty at my Duty Station. At least for the flight I got the laptop. SPC Wuffy and I left Grand Junction airport this morning and are back in the barracks at Ft Bragg.

I haven't been doing much around the base these days. We had to pull weeds in the parking lot to get it ready for President Bush to land his helicopter. Me and Wuffy got sun burned pretty bad doing that.
I was sorting through some old pictures and I found one I forgot I had. Its of the canyon up at the Colorado Monument. You can barely notice us in the front corner -- it was pretty scary too. Did I even mention I am scared of heights? Thats why I became a paratrooper. |

Well, here I am on my pre-deployment leave. I'm back in Colorado for 2 weeks and enjoying myself on a camping trip.
We headed east from Grand Junction but from there we climbed up onto the mesa. Grand Junction is just under 5000 feet but we went up on top of the Grand Mesa to an altitude over 10,850 feet. The Grand Mesa is the largest flat top mountain in the world. The road across the top is over 40 miles long and there are more than 200 lakes on top. We camped at Island Lake. Because we were along a scenic highway there is even an info center out here |
||
wourpet Posted Jul 26, 2009, 4:01 pm |
Today we drove from our campsite at the lake up to Lands End. It was only about 15 miles and it was sure a nice view. We stopped on the very edge of the mesa and were able to see for miles across the valley.
I could see all the way to our house many miles away in Grand Junction There were lots of rocks for me to climb up on and each time I could see something different It was a long way down the side of the mountain. |
||
wourpet Posted Oct 10, 2009, 10:35 pm |
I'm still on pre-deployment leave and I am attending a Blue Star Mothers Convention in Boise Idaho. I did not get to do a lot at the convention. I was at the airport for quite awhile though and checked everything out.

I am back in the US but it has been a long week. I was stranded in Balad, Iraq and then went to Kuwait, Germany and Atlanta Georgia before finally arriving in DC. We were supposed to be here yesterday for breakfast at the Whitehouse and the Veterans Day Ceremonies at Arlington.
My brother Picado was waiting for me at the hotel when I got here. The first thing we did was go for a walk down to the Whitehouse. He told me all about his adventures yesterday and he was pretty excited. Next we went to the treasury building. and then to the Old Post Office The J Edgar Hoover Building or FBI headquarters. and the Canadian Embassy We read all the stars on the sidewalk outside a theater club. And looked at lots of Sculptures. Before we went to the airport to head home we stopped at Burger King and then we headed back to Colorado. I am on leave for 15 days. |
