Pixiehop is still at home, playing with Sophia and packing for her first trip. The plan is, she will go visit Sophia's aunt Olga in Ukraine. It's a long journey in a sealed box, so we have to make sure to include plenty of snacks!  :cyclops:

My auntie being a bit too home-loving, and because of the early automn colds, I haven't seen much of Odessa, but what I saw I approve.
I began exploring the first day I arrived, and went to the downtown with all my luggage, so as not to waste time. See, me with my backpack in the main street, Deribasovskaya, nearly kissing the cobbles?
I went to the shops. Well, plenty of stuff and people everywhere - mostly what I expected. And the restaurants are the real sites of interest here - especially after all those sandwiches in the mail box :D Look, there me is by the sign showing direction to the Food!
Saw the Opera House, a famous building the citizens adore and make a lot of photos of) See, me in front of it, and all those cars? Hardly made it to get a picture of me at the entrance. And I made friends with some sculptures by the main gate, who took me to their company. THIS crocodile, and THAT proud lady, see?
See the magnificent brown building with inscription saying "Londonsaya" over black marble there? This lantern I like... Well, that's where I lived! Not that my auntie kind'a snores, she SNORES!  :cyclops: But apart from that, we liked each other
Saw an archeological site! The whole ancient greek settlements (well, the some whole pieces of it) was found right under the boulevard by the sea) During the construction. Took a sit on the bench right by it
I've met a lot of prominent people here, people of extraordinary talents. for example, see polish poet Mitzkevich holding me? and the guy dressed in toga is nor less then a Duke, one of the city's founders B) And with Pushkin we are soul mates, even our gazes are alike!
Saw a real canon! The guys took it off the enemy battleship!
Visited museums! Especially liked Snakes Museum
Generally the natives are nice and hospitable. Especially cats and hamsters)
Looking forward for more adventures! Bye, Auntie!! :p

Hi, mummy~ Kisses from China :p
Bamboo, her friend and I went out last weekend and took a lot of pictures.
We droped by a snack bar at first to grab some traditional snacks of Beijing, and I tried the "pea cake" which the Chinese people called "Wan Dou Huang". It's sweet and mild, and very yummy!
After that, we went to the South LuoGu Lane, a very famous and ancient lane in Beijing. It has a history of over 800 years and now is filled with bars, cafes, clothing stores and handcraft shops all preserved in classical Chinese ‘Hutong’ style.

hi~mommy~
Bamboo took me back to her hometown Harbin for spring festival, which is a traditional festival in China. It's more like X'mas and new year to us, during which family will gather around and celebrate.
Harbin is in northeast of China and the capital city of Heilongjiang province. The city is famous for its yearly festival of ice and snow, since almost half of the year in Harbin is in winter.

Hi mommy,

I was not lost. Or if I was, I found my way to Russia. Had to wait for a long time for my hostess to come back from vacation, it was so very boring in my box at the post office.  :stare:

But now I am finally seeing something in the country. We went to Vladimir the other day. On the train, my hostess' dog was very jealous of me sitting on one of the seats while she had to contend with the floor.

The town is not that large, or at least its historical center is not. There is just the cathedral square and some other monuments here and there.

We saw the Uspensky catherdral where they used to crown the princes of Russia before the capital moved to Moscow, and the Dmitrievsky cathedral, which, while small, is very beautiful.  :D

Love,
Pixiepop

P.S. She takes too much time to do anything, even take pictures. I fall asleep once already!  :p

Hi mommy,

did you miss me?

I have not been lost. I have even been to the U.S. since, twice, but saw nothing but the inside of a bag, a room at a hostel and some Brodway in New York. My host claims she can not find proper places to make pictures of there.

Here is some from our newest trip to Zvenigorod where we assisted at a conference on plasma physics.

Apart from the conference, there apparently was a snowman contest  there as well:

I drowned in the snow a couple of times. How can you move in such deep heaps?!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Kehlen-Crow/Zvenigorod%20-%20February%202012/Zven05-12-02-09.jpg

The hotel we stayed in was made of red brick, and ugly.

But the forest around it was very beautiful.
