Hello guys!
I am Ceylon and this is me in my home town Bremen ![]() Soon I will start my journey: Juls has arranged for me to take part in the Germany RR! I am really looking forward to it! I can't wait to see the different parts of the country and meet nice new people and other TV's! Hello everybody!
On the weekend mummy took me visit her friend in Homburg. That is all the way in the south-west of Germany on the border to France. We only stayed briefly but I had time to have a quick look around town before we went back north. It was a great opportunity to get an idea of what it will be like to see the different federal states of Germany! We even saw a couple of snowflakes but left before it settles down. I really hope to take a couple of snow pictures on my travels through Germany! Anyway we had a great time and even some homemade cherry cake ![]() Soon mum will send me on my first journey: to Koblenz! I am really looking forward to it and meeting my host! cheers Ceylon ps. Did you ever see such a colourful building?? |

Hello from Rhineland-Palatinate!
I arrived here yesterday and today we made our first little tour ... The castle Stolzenfest of Coblenz first: ![]() And here zoooooomed in a bit: ![]() Because we were on the road with the little brother of FraJ we go to the playground ![]() ![]() ![]() And finally the Martin Castle in Lahnstein: ![]() I'm looking forward to the month here! Greetings! |
FraJ Posted Feb 13, 2012, 9:56 pm |
Hello!
Today we went for a walk on the river Lahn. After FraJ had a lot to do last week for their studies, we could not do much. But she has finished her last presentation very well and now her time is mine this month! And I've seen in the warm Rhine valley how rivers freeze and it snows (but not much) ... The first thing you see is the Lahn bridge and on the right side the orange building is a historic house and restaurant in which already Johann Wolfgang Goethe dined in 1774. ![]() In this picture you can see the castle Lahneck, a haunted place, where's a story of a young English woman who has lost his way and was lost on the top tower of the former ruin. ![]() ![]() Along the river we saw some snowy landscapes. ![]() Upstream, there are small parts of the city of Lahnstein. See here on the right Friedland: ![]() Here we are in the district Friedrichssegen and there stands a small hydroelectric plant. Here is the feeding of the plant: ![]() And you can still see a bit of the plant. But the Lahn is almost completely frozen... ![]() But it's missing Koblenz and a couple of beautiful castles! Hopefully the weather is good the next days! Today it was very foggy and cloudy ... But I'm excited! Greetings to the World! ![]() |
FraJ Posted Feb 15, 2012, 2:41 pm |
Hey!
Today we were on the way in Nassau. It is not as sunny as the Bahamas... In fact it was raining very heavily ![]() But we could make some pictures. On the first picture you see me in front of the castle of Nassau. It was built about 1100 and today you can go there to eat. ![]() ![]() And yet a view at the small town and the Lahn, which also flows here. ![]() And on the way home a picture shot from the car... But you don't see much because it rained so much ![]() ![]() But it will rain the whole week ![]() Cya! |
FraJ Posted Feb 21, 2012, 4:56 pm |
Hey!
Today we visited Bad Ems on the way home. In 17./18. century Bad Ems was considered one of the most famous seaside resorts in Germany. Its heyday was in the 19th century as place of a "world spa" and it was the summer residence of many monarchs and European artists, including Kaiser Wilhelm I, the Tsar Nicholas I, Alexander II of Russia and Richard Wagner... FraJ showed me two nice places: Kurhaus, the Casino and the Kursaal ![]() And a view over Bad Ems (with a view to the "Malberg") ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, FraJ forget her memory card for the camera and her cell phone battery was empty... So we couldn't make any pictures ![]() But the carnival season started and I'm excited! Cya ![]() |
FraJ Posted Feb 21, 2012, 5:46 pm |
Sooooooo!
Helau! Alaf! Olaf! And Olau! In the Rhineland carnival is celebrated from Thursday to Tuesday. On Wednesday, called Ash Wednesday, in tears even the carnival is buried on this day, literally. Carnival parades are from Friday to Tuesday... but it's enough to see just one ![]() Today I am a bit dressed up and from the window we could watch the carnival parade of Lahnstein. Because many pictures were taken, I will only comment a few and still leave otherwise because that would be tooo much... The beginning makes the police car: ![]() ![]() ![]() The guard of the carnival committee has also always nice uniforms: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And I've also caught some candy, because it is thrown into the window ![]() ![]() Tomorrow we will visit St. Goarshausen. Mom, have you ever heard from the Loreley?! Looking forward to it! Bye ![]() |
FraJ Posted Feb 21, 2012, 6:22 pm |
Hello There!
Today we were in Nochern first, a small town with a carnival parade: ![]() ![]() After that we drove to a lookout point with a wonderful view of the castle Katz - "Katz" is from cat- and the Rhine Valley (and for sure there's a castle Maus -"mouse"- in Kestert too ^^): ![]() And here is not to be seen perfectly, but in the back is the legendary rock of the Lorelei... The legend says that a beautiful woman sitting high up on the rock. There she was combing her long blonde hair and waited for her lover... But by her beauty and her wonderful voice she distracted the sailors and their capsized in the confines of the Rhine and drowned. Last year there is another ship ran aground... Maybe there's another new Loreley? ![]() ![]() On the opposite the ruin of the fortress in St. Goar: ![]() ![]() And here on more view... It is really nice. Can you imagine now why this is World Heritage here? ![]() On the way home a picture shot from the car and not really special but also shown here: ![]() Tomorrow we will visit Braubach... there's a very beautiful castle too. But now I we will watch TV and make nothing ![]() Greetings! ![]() |
FraJ Posted Feb 22, 2012, 9:53 pm |
Hey guys!
As mentioned yesterday, we were today in Braubach. First we walked through the rose garden. But at the moment nothing is blooming here... ![]() In the center of the rose garden that is maintained by a private club, is a war memorial too. And in the background you can see the Marksburg. A very nice castle from the 13th century. ![]() The war memorial has been built for the victims of the Franco-German war in 1870/71. Here you can see me again in front of: ![]() Here is a picture with me at the fountain in the rose garden. ![]() Here are two pictures of the Rhine plants: ![]() ![]() Then we go (only known by the locals) to a lookout point. From here you have a beautiful view over the Rhine Valley: ![]() ![]() ![]() Finally the Marksburg again. It's the only medieval castle of the Middle Rhine that has never been destroyed. With its current form it is considered the medieval castle and as such is a model for many fantasy castles, especially as toy castles. The Japanese found the Marksburg so well that they have rebuilt the castle in its original size! You can see the copy since 1996 on the Japanese island of Miyako. I'm impressed. So is the last picture once again me before the panorama of the Rhine Valley and the Marksburg: ![]() I hope that we can do a trip to the German Corner in Coblenz at the weekend. Then I have seen enough and I look forward to my next host ![]() Cya soon! |
FraJ Posted Feb 25, 2012, 9:14 pm |
Hello from sunny Coblenz!
Today we walked along the rhine plants in Coblenz. ![]() ![]() ![]() On the way we passed the Empress-Augusta-Memorial. Her full name is Marie Louise Augusta Catherine Princess of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and she was a German empress of 1871 - 1888. She and her husband, Emperor William I., settled down in 1849 in Coblenz. ![]() Here you can see the fortress Ehrenbreitstein. Built in 1828 by the Prussian King Frederick III (immediately after the Congress of Vienna). The fortress was never involved in combat operations and soon had no strategic significance. Today it's open to all and very nice. Here are some shots with me: ![]() ![]() ![]() Also very interesting is the Federal Ministry of Defense Technology and Procurement: ![]() And here the German Corner! This is the coalesce of Moselle and Rhine: ![]() Kaiser Wilhelm is watching over this place: ![]() ![]() This is probably one of the most beautiful churches in Koblenz ... It was on 30 July 1991 by Pope John Paul II elevated to basilica minor. ![]() And on the way home a few places that I found quite nice: ![]() ![]() Because here we have a lot of castles, we have our own tinkered with the little brother of FraJ ![]() But probably I can't finish it with my host but maybe Stoker or another RR-TV can help ![]() ![]() Soon I will go to my next host. I look forward to it and I am excited what I will see and what I'm experiencing. Cya and greetings to Bremen! ![]() |

Hello Mum,
I arrived in Sülfeld. RikeH gave me a warm welcome and we made a walk through the village. This is the church. ![]() I read something about the church on this sign. ![]() On the other side of the street is the old pharmacy. ![]() This is the center of Sülfeld. ![]() I found nice flowers. ![]() Look, behind me you can see the old school of Sülfeld. ![]() I loved this old door. ![]() This is the emblem of Sülfeld. ![]() I found a little lake – I would have loved to swim there, but it was too cold. ![]() Love Ceylon |

Hello Mum,
We made a walk through the forest today. Here RikeH helped me to look at the map. ![]() Here we were – in Sülfeld. ![]() This was our way – a long way… ![]() Look what happened in the forest – one tree was fallen… - yes I am on the photo! ![]() And another tree was broken. ![]() I made a rest next to a small lake. ![]() I read something about a little river on this sign. ![]() And here is the river. ![]() I climbed up this post and looked around. ![]() ![]() On our way back we passed the house of the shooting club. ![]() In our garden I sat in these flowers – and to tell the truth – I ate one of it – it was yummy! ![]() Love Ceylon |

Hi Mum,
I know that I visit Schleswig-Holstein at the moment – but today the others wanted to go to Hamburg – and I decided to go with them. We wanted to see some special buildings in Hamburg. This is the Sprinkenhof – RikeH worked there years ago. ![]() Next to it there is the Chilehaus – a famous old building here. ![]() This is another view of the Chilehaus. ![]() Later we went into another house – called Levantehaus. RikeH wanted to show us the funny animals there. ![]() It is strange to see wild animals in a German building. ![]() Love Ceylon |

Hi Mum,
It was a great day today, because Dicker Kumpel came back! He is the host here – and normally he stays with RikeH all the time. Last week he was away, but now he was back and gave me a warm welcome. ![]() ![]() He told us about his holiday in Madeira and showed two postcards. ![]() He told us that they ate fruits all the time – and we should do it now. ![]() Fruits? Fortunately B.o.B. came with his chocolate – and we threw the fruits away! ![]() Chocolate is much better than fruits, don’t you think so, Mum? ![]() Greetings Ceylon |
RikeH Posted Mar 17, 2012, 8:24 pm |
Hi Mum,
It was a sunny day and I sat next to the crocus flowers in the garden. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then we went to a small city near to Sülfeld. RikeH went to school there many years ago. Behind me you can see the Peter-and-Paul-Church. ![]() We went inside. There were wonderful windows. ![]() I was not sure, if this man is Peter or Paul. ![]() Later we all sat in the sunshine in front of an old house. ![]() There were other nice old buildings in the city. ![]() ![]() Look – a water wheel! ![]() Yours Ceylon |
RikeH Posted Mar 25, 2012, 6:00 pm |
Hello Mum,
We went to Hamburg. It was a lovely sunny day! We went to the Binnenalster – a little lake in the center. ![]() We stopped at his nice place and had a nice photo. ![]() See – what happened? We heard a voice calling our names. IT was HömpfMömpf with another TV. ![]() What a great surprise – of course we talked a lot! ![]() Mum, it was so funny that I met HömpfMömpf, who travels on the big German RR, too. ![]() Then we continued our walk. ![]() There was a nice bridge. ![]() We saw this angle on the bridge. ![]() I liked this view. ![]() I saw a boat from the police. ![]() Behind me you can see the town hall. ![]() Hamburg is a beautiful town! ![]() This is a theatre. ![]() Love Ceylon |
RikeH Posted Mar 26, 2012, 7:51 pm |
Hello Mum,
We visited a smaller town today – called Bad Segeberg. First we went into a Chinese Restaurant. It was boring inside – so we played outside. ![]() ![]() Then we went to the big Lake of Segeberg. Behind me you can see the monument of an Indian. ![]() I loved the view over the Lake. ![]() ![]() We walked around the Lake. ![]() I found lovely flowers! ![]() Wow – this will be a long way! ![]() But we were really sporty! ![]() Later I relaxed in the sun. ![]() ![]() It was a wonderful sunny day! Love Ceylon |
RikeH Posted Apr 2, 2012, 9:01 pm |
Hello Mum,
Yesterday we had a lazy day in the sunshine. ![]() Suddenly two birds landed next to us. HömpfMömpf missed the way to his next host – and Pink Charmin is a new guest of Dicker Kumpel. We all talked a lot. ![]() Then we went inside and wanted to celebrate the arrival of the new guests. ![]() We all chose the sweets we like most. ![]() I had these chocolates. ![]() Love Ceylon |
RikeH Posted Apr 7, 2012, 10:51 pm |
Hello Mum,
Today we had a surprise for Dicker Kumpel. ![]() Erol and B.o.B. blindfolded Dicker Kumpel. ![]() ![]() Then we installed our big sign for him! ![]() He had a look – and was very surprised! ![]() We gave him a big hug – he won two GoldenBears Awards! ![]() RikeH was happy and proud too, so we started a party. First we had a delicious burger and woodruff lemonade. ![]() ![]() We ate almost everything. ![]() Then we had our dessert – a yummy cake and coffee! ![]() I had a yellow lime cake. ![]() Done! ![]() We decided to celebrate for a longer time – but we went closer to each other. Look, we had some bread and Sushi. As drinks we had a nice liqueur from Estonia, with the funny name Herbert! ![]() I sat between SammyFire and Dicker Kumpel – and we talked a lot – it was great! ![]() It was a fantastic party! ![]() Yours Ceylon |

Happy Easter!
Today the Easter bunny was here - and Dicker Kumpel told us that we can search Easter eggs. ![]() I started. Maybe there will be something under our chair? ![]() ![]() I found something – great. ![]() But there should be more. I asked long hippo. He told me to look into the basket of a lovely bunny lady. ![]() Then he helped me to reach the chocolate bunny in the basket. ![]() I got it. ![]() In a wonderful bouquet of flowers I found this chocolate bug. ![]() Look –I was very successful! ![]() We all had a lovely day! ![]() Yours Ceylon |
RikeH Posted Apr 9, 2012, 5:40 pm |
Hello Mum,
It was still Easter – and we went to visit the grandma of Dicker Kumpel. He told us that we will meet The Easter bunny there. And we were lucky. Look – I talked to the Easter bunny! ![]() Then I met some of the other bunnies hanging around there. ![]() There were two friendly hens. ![]() Later we met a friendly bunny. He read something out of the nice Easter book that Noisy sent to us. ![]() ![]() Then something funny happened. Dicker Kumpel’s grandma has a TV named Tobbi. He was lost for two times – the second time he was lost in the Netherlands. But now he came back. He told us that he went to China – that must me the truth, because he came from China in his envelope. But look how big he is now. Maybe I will become that big someday after being in China, too? ![]() After talking to the big Tobbi I decided to talk to smaller guys. ![]() Mum, it was a nice second day of Easter here – we ate a lot of chocolate – it was yummy! yours Ceylon |

Tomorrow I will move to my next host, so we decided to make a nice excursion. We visited the Wallanlagen – a park in the middle of Hamburg. Here you see a beautiful building we saw from the garden. ![]() Normally here is a little river – but there was no water today. ![]() Can you see me on this little monument? ![]() This was the Asian part of the garden. ![]() Then I found some colorful tulips. ![]() ![]() On our way back home we stopped in Ahrensburg where I saw this beautiful castle. ![]() At home it was time to say good-bye to Dicker Kumpel. We had a lot of fun together. ![]() The others gave me a big hug. ![]() I will write you soon from my next host. Yours Ceylon |

ScillyHH Posted May 1, 2012, 1:22 pm |
Hi mum,
to Scillys regret we had a very busy time. But today we have time for a short trip to the Hamburg airport. That's me in the check-in area looking for an interesting flight for me. ![]() ![]() ![]() Erol has some more flight experiences and suggested to go to the ceck in machine. ![]() Hmm... I put my name in but they didn't find a flight for me ![]() ![]() So we went to the terrace to see some planes. I'm sitting on Scillys head to have a better view. ![]() Oh look, there are some great planes. Behind me you can see an Air France plane. It will fly to Paris. ![]() ![]() After seeing the airport and the planes I really would like to fly some day. All the very best Ceylon |
ScillyHH Posted May 1, 2012, 1:44 pm |

today we had sunshine and so Scilly decided to have a walk through the city center after work. See me in front of the lake Binnenalster with some restaurant boats and some of the famous Alster swans. ![]() These are some other views of the Binnenalster. ![]() ![]() We decided to make window shopping. Richy is searching for a new clock. Perhaps we will find a nice one. ![]() This is small an old shopping passage. Very nice! ![]() ![]() See me in front of the Alsterarkaden. It is a small shopping alley near the Jungfernstieg. ![]() On these photographs you can see the Hamburg town hall. Hello Mum,
today I arrived at Murph’s home. He helped me out of my envelope. ![]() ![]() Murph showed me Bad Salzdetfurth to Ceylon. Here you can see me in front of the emblem. ![]() Bad Salzdetfurth is a nice small town with a lot of timbered houses. ![]() There were two salines in the spa garden. The people produced salt here in the past. ![]() Today the people sit next to the salines and breath the healthy air. ![]() Bad Salzdetfurth is an old mining town. All over the town you find old machines for the salt production. ![]() ![]() And now a hidden picture puzzle. Can you see me? ![]() We enjoyed the sunny weather next to this lake. ![]() This little river is called Lamme. It flows through the whole city. Maybe Murph will show me its spring. ![]() I found this wonderful flower for you. ![]() Keep your fingers crossed for us that the weather will be fine this weekend. Murph planned a trip for us! Hello Mum,
Today we made an excursion to Salzgitter-Lichtenberg. We visited this old castle ruin. ![]() All visitors have to go through this gate. ![]() This was my first view of the castle. I wanted to have a closer look. ![]() There was an old catapult in front of the castle. It was gigantic! ![]() The outer walls were so big in the Past. ![]() These were the leftovers of an old house. The people had heating in that time – it was unbelievable. The plate with the holes was the heating. ![]() We had a magnificent view from the tower. Unfortunately it was closed so we were not able to go on the top. ![]() These walls were very thick! ![]() Can you see us? We looked so small! ![]() This was the garden of the castle. ![]() The Ruin Lichtenberg was really great! ![]() What a wonderful trip! Love Ceylon |

Hello Mum,
Murph and I went into the forest today. ![]() Have you ever seen so many blooming bear’s garlics? It looked great. ![]() Murph knows so many mushrooms. He showed me the St. Georg’s mushrooms. They are eatable. ![]() Then I met this friendly snail. I wanted to make a race with it. We started! ![]() Murph cheered for me! Next to him was the finish line. Have a look, who won. ![]() The snail recognized that I was faster. She didn’t want to lose – and went away. I was sad, because I wanted to win! ![]() After this exhausting race I made a rest under this wild orchid. ![]() Later we found other mushrooms - dotted stem boletes. They are very delicious. ![]() These mushrooms were great. They get blue, when you cut them. ![]() It looks great! Many greetings Ceylon |

Hello Mum,
Today we made a trip to Bad Gandersheim. There was a beautiful cathedral. ![]() We found this fountain on the Domplatz. ![]() On the marketplace there were many old houses. ![]() This beautiful door belongs to the museum of Bad Gandersheim. The weather was too nice to go into the museum. ![]() The water out of this fountain was very cold. But it was great, because the temperatures were very high. ![]() This is the old hospital. ![]() I found this special door of a small church. It is out of bronze. ![]() A last photo of the Dom. ![]() On our way back home we saw these funny chairs. ![]() I wanted a photo with the chair I loved most. ![]() It was funny, wasn’t it? Until soon Ceylon |

Hello Mum,
we made a wonderful trip today. You cannot imagine what I saw first. Have a look! ![]() Did you recognize it? It was an oil rig. I thought that I was dreaming. They had oil In the middle of lower Saxony in the Past. ![]() But there was still much more to see. I asked these two friendly men for the way to the Rhumequelle. ![]() And I found the spring. We walked around it. ![]() The color of the water was so great – I thought about being in holiday – maybe in the Caribbean. ![]() The Rhumequelle is one of the biggest springs in Europe. Can you imagine that: each German could get a bucket of water out of this spring each day. ![]() Many rare animals are living next to this spring. ![]() Murph and I took a rest and enjoyed the view to the water. ![]() ![]() I didn’t want to leave. The spring was so beautiful. ![]() What an unbelievable color. Maybe I can show you the Spring someday. Love Ceylon |

Hello Mum,
Today we made our next excursion – this time we went to Thuringia! At this place was the border between West- and East-Germany. ![]() Because the people of East-Germany were not allowed to travel to the West-Germany, there was a Death Zone (Todesstreifen) at the border. When the people from the East tried to flee, they were shot by the soldiers of East-Germany. It must have been a bad time! ![]() We went to the Kyffhäuser - Monument. We were so disappointed, when we reached the parking-lot. They refurbish the monument at the moment. ![]() We decided to have a look at it and went to the castle. How will the monument look like, when it is ready? ![]() We had a great view from here! ![]() This statue is very famous. He is Barbarossa. The statue was very big – and looked great! ![]() These nice lions guarded Barbarossa. ![]() Then we made a rest and enjoyed the sunshine. ![]() Have you ever seen something like this? It is petrified wood. ![]() This is the part of the old fortress. ![]() And another photo of the monument. ![]() We went back to our car through his gate. ![]() We passed this holy place – and rested in the shadow. ![]() ![]() What a wonderful day! Many greetings Ceylon |

Hello Mum,
We went to the city Hameln today. Do you know the famous story about „The Pied Piper of Hamelin“? The first house has its name from the story – it is called the Rattenfängerhaus. ![]() There are many beautiful timbered houses in the city. ![]() ![]() I absolutely wanted to have a photo with this funny sculpture. ![]() Can you see the bells at this house? ![]() We saw the old city of Hameln as a miniature! ![]() Another beautiful timbered house! ![]() The River Weser flows through Hameln. ![]() On our way back to the car we saw this big church. ![]() Hameln is a wonderful city. We were not able to take photos of the statue of the Pied Pieper, because it was renovated… This seems to be typical for my time here. ![]() Many greetings Ceylon |

Hello Mum,
After visiting Hameln we went to a wonderful park! ![]() At the entrance this Buddha welcomed us! ![]() This park is famous for the old rhododendrons. ![]() But there were many old trees, too. ![]() We had a wonderful view to the river Weser. ![]() I didn’t like this view that much. Can you see the nuclear power plant in the background? ![]() There were many blooming scrubs at the moment. ![]() ![]() What do you think? It was a wonderful park! ![]() Many greetings Ceylon |

It was my last day with Murph today. He wanted to show me his famous Gate. There was so much to see – I didn’t want to leave. This boat was in front of the gate – the woman remembered me to someone – can you imagine who it is? ![]() I absolutely wanted to have a photo with this man. ![]() There were many funny things on the gate. ![]() ![]() Don’t panic, mum. The shark didn’t eat me. ![]() And this was my famous one – isn’t it cute? ![]() At home I said goodbye to Murph and climbed into my envelope. ![]() ![]() I had so much fun with Murph.
