As a member of the big German RR I will travel through nice Germany while several month, starting in January 2012 and I can't wait to have great adventures with my coming hosts. My mom teached me a little bit geography of Hessian and German, now I'm no longer a little stupid turtle At home my friend Hessen-Leo will wait for me and while I'm travelling, he will be a guide for the other TVs staying with my mom Noisy. I really would be g lad, if each host would take a picture with me and the coat of arms of his federal state, and my mom loves watching postcards I'll send. |

1. Advent.
We read the fairy of The Fir Tree. That is a looong fairy and we cuddled on the sofa. But now read it yourself: Out in the woods stood a nice little Fir Tree. The place he had was a very good one: the sun shone on him: as to fresh air, there was enough of that, and round him grew many large-sized comrades, pines as well as firs. But the little Fir wanted so very much to be a grown-up tree. He did not think of the warm sun and of the fresh air; he did not care for the little cottage children that ran about and prattled when they were in the woods looking for wild-strawberries. The children often came with a whole pitcher full of berries, or a long row of them threaded on a straw, and sat down near the young tree and said, "Oh, how pretty he is! What a nice little fir!" But this was what the Tree could not bear to hear. At the end of a year he had shot up a good deal, and after another year he was another long bit taller; for with fir trees one can always tell by the shoots how many years old they are. "Oh! Were I but such a high tree as the others are," sighed he. "Then I should be able to spread out my branches, and with the tops to look into the wide world! Then would the birds build nests among my branches: and when there was a breeze, I could bend with as much stateliness as the others!" Neither the sunbeams, nor the birds, nor the red clouds which morning and evening sailed above him, gave the little tree any pleasure. In winter, when the snow lay glittering on the ground, a hare would often come leaping along, and jump right over the little Tree. Oh, that made him so angry! But two winters were past, and in the third the Tree was so large that the hare was obliged to go round it. "To grow and grow, to get older and be tall," thought the Tree, "that, after all, is the most delightful thing in the world!" In autumn the wood-cutters always came and felled some of the largest trees. This happened every year; and the young Fir Tree, that had now grown to a very comely size, trembled at the sight; for the magnificent great trees fell to the earth with noise and cracking, the branches were lopped off, and the trees looked long and bare; they were hardly to be recognised; and then they were laid in carts, and the horses dragged them out of the wood. Where did they go to? What became of them? In spring, when the swallows and the storks came, the Tree asked them, "Don't you know where they have been taken? Have you not met them anywhere?" The swallows did not know anything about it; but the Stork looked musing, nodded his head, and said, "Yes; I think I know; I met many ships as I was flying hither from Egypt; on the ships were magnificent masts, and I venture to assert that it was they that smelt so of fir. I may congratulate you, for they lifted themselves on high most majestically!" "Oh, were I but old enough to fly across the sea! But how does the sea look in reality? What is it like?" "That would take a long time to explain," said the Stork, and with these words off he went. "Rejoice in thy growth!" said the Sunbeams. "Rejoice in thy vigorous growth, and in the fresh life that moveth within thee!" And the Wind kissed the Tree, and the Dew wept tears over him; but the Fir understood it not. When Christmas came, quite young trees were cut down: trees which often were not even as large or of the same age as this Fir Tree, who could never rest, but always wanted to be off. These young trees, and they were always the finest looking, retained their branches; they were laid on carts, and the horses drew them out of the wood. "Where are they going to?" asked the Fir. "They are not taller than I; there was one indeed that was considerably shorter; and why do they retain all their branches? Whither are they taken?" "We know! We know!" chirped the Sparrows. "We have peeped in at the windows in the town below! We know whither they are taken! The greatest splendour and the greatest magnificence one can imagine await them. We peeped through the windows, and saw them planted in the middle of the warm room and ornamented with the most splendid things, with gilded apples, with gingerbread, with toys, and many hundred lights! "And then?" asked the Fir Tree, trembling in every bough. "And then? What happens then?" "We did not see anything more: it was incomparably beautiful." "I would fain know if I am destined for so glorious a career," cried the Tree, rejoicing. "That is still better than to cross the sea! What a longing do I suffer! Were Christmas but come! I am now tall, and my branches spread like the others that were carried off last year! Oh! were I but already on the cart! Were I in the warm room with all the splendour and magnificence! Yes; then something better, something still grander, will surely follow, or wherefore should they thus ornament me? Something better, something still grander must follow, but what? Oh, how I long, how I suffer! I do not know myself what is the matter with me!" "Rejoice in our presence!" said the Air and the Sunlight. "Rejoice in thy own fresh youth!" But the Tree did not rejoice at all; he grew and grew, and was green both winter and summer. People that saw him said, "What a fine tree!" and towards Christmas he was one of the first that was cut down. The axe struck deep into the very pith; the Tree fell to the earth with a sigh; he felt a pang, it was like a swoon; he could not think of happiness, for he was sorrowful at being separated from his home, from the place where he had sprung up. He well knew that he should never see his dear old comrades, the little bushes and flowers around him, anymore; perhaps not even the birds! The departure was not at all agreeable. The Tree only came to himself when he was unloaded in a court-yard with the other trees, and heard a man say, "That one is splendid! We don't want the others." Then two servants came in rich livery and carried the Fir Tree into a large and splendid drawing-room. Portraits were hanging on the walls, and near the white porcelain stove stood two large Chinese vases with lions on the covers. There, too, were large easy-chairs, silken sofas, large tables full of picture-books and full of toys, worth hundreds and hundreds of crowns, at least the children said so. And the Fir Tree was stuck upright in a cask that was filled with sand; but no one could see that it was a cask, for green cloth was hung all round it, and it stood on a large gaily-coloured carpet. Oh! how the Tree quivered! What was to happen? The servants, as well as the young ladies, decorated it. On one branch there hung little nets cut out of coloured paper, and each net was filled with sugarplums; and among the other boughs gilded apples and walnuts were suspended, looking as though they had grown there, and little blue and white tapers were placed among the leaves. Dolls that looked for all the world like men, the Tree had never beheld such before, were seen among the foliage, and at the very top a large star of gold tinsel was fixed. It was really splendid, beyond description splendid. "This evening!" they all said. "How it will shine this evening!", and they were very excited. "Oh!" thought the Tree. "If the evening were but come! If the tapers were but lighted! And then I wonder what will happen! Perhaps the other trees from the forest will come to look at me! Perhaps the sparrows will beat against the windowpanes! I wonder if I shall take root here, and winter and summer stand covered with ornaments!" He knew very much about the matter, but he was so impatient that for sheer longing he got a pain in his back, and this with trees is the same thing as a headache with us. The candles were now lighted, what brightness! What splendour! The Tree trembled so in every bough that one of the tapers set fire to the foliage. It blazed up famously. "Help! Help!" cried the young ladies, and they quickly put out the fire. Now the Tree did not even dare tremble. What a state he was in! He was so uneasy lest he should lose something of his splendour, that he was quite bewildered amidst the glare and brightness; when suddenly both folding-doors opened and a troop of children rushed in as if they would upset the Tree. The older persons followed quietly; the little ones stood quite still. But it was only for a moment; then they shouted that the whole place re-echoed with their rejoicing; they danced round the Tree, and one present after the other was pulled off. "What are they about?" thought the Tree. "What is to happen now!" And the lights burned down to the very branches, and as they burned down they were put out one after the other, and then the children had permission to plunder the Tree. So they fell upon it with such violence that all its branches cracked; if it had not been fixed firmly in the ground, it would certainly have tumbled down. The children danced about with their beautiful playthings; no one looked at the Tree except the old nurse, who peeped between the branches; but it was only to see if there was a fig or an apple left that had been forgotten. "A story! A story!" cried the children, drawing a little fat man towards the Tree. He seated himself under it and said, "Now we are in the shade, and the Tree can listen too. But I shall tell only one story. Now which will you have; that about Ivedy-Avedy, or about Humpy-Dumpy, who tumbled downstairs, and yet after all came to the throne and married the princess?" "Ivedy-Avedy," cried some; "Humpy-Dumpy," cried the others. There was such a bawling and screaming, the Fir Tree alone was silent, and he thought to himself, "Am I not to bawl with the rest? Am I to do nothing whatever?" for he was one of the company, and had done what he had to do. And the man told about Humpy-Dumpy that tumbled down, who notwithstanding came to the throne, and at last married the princess. And the children clapped their hands, and cried. "Oh, go on! Do go on!" They wanted to hear about Ivedy-Avedy too, but the little man only told them about Humpy-Dumpy. The Fir Tree stood quite still and absorbed in thought; the birds in the wood had never related the like of this. "Humpy-Dumpy fell downstairs, and yet he married the princess! Yes, yes! That's the way of the world!" thought the Fir Tree, and believed it all, because the man who told the story was so good-looking. "Well, well! who knows, perhaps I may fall downstairs, too, and get a princess as wife! And he looked forward with joy to the morrow, when he hoped to be decked out again with lights, playthings, fruits, and tinsel. "I won't tremble to-morrow!" thought the Fir Tree. "I will enjoy to the full all my splendour! To-morrow I shall hear again the story of Humpy-Dumpy, and perhaps that of Ivedy-Avedy too." And the whole night the Tree stood still and in deep thought. In the morning the servant and the housemaid came in. "Now then the splendour will begin again," thought the Fir. But they dragged him out of the room, and up the stairs into the loft: and here, in a dark corner, where no daylight could enter, they left him. "What's the meaning of this?" thought the Tree. "What am I to do here? What shall I hear now, I wonder?" And he leaned against the wall lost in reverie. Time enough had he too for his reflections; for days and nights passed on, and nobody came up; and when at last somebody did come, it was only to put some great trunks in a corner, out of the way. There stood the Tree quite hidden; it seemed as if he had been entirely forgotten. "'Tis now winter out-of-doors!" thought the Tree. "The earth is hard and covered with snow; men cannot plant me now, and therefore I have been put up here under shelter till the spring-time comes! How thoughtful that is! How kind man is, after all! If it only were not so dark here, and so terribly lonely! Not even a hare! And out in the woods it was so pleasant, when the snow was on the ground, and the hare leaped by; yes, even when he jumped over me; but I did not like it then! It is really terribly lonely here!" "Squeak! Squeak!" said a little Mouse, at the same moment, peeping out of his hole. And then another little one came. They snuffed about the Fir Tree, and rustled among the branches. "It is dreadfully cold," said the Mouse. "But for that, it would be delightful here, old Fir, wouldn't it?" "I am by no means old," said the Fir Tree. "There's many a one considerably older than I am." "Where do you come from," asked the Mice; "and what can you do?" They were so extremely curious. "Tell us about the most beautiful spot on the earth. Have you never been there? Were you never in the larder, where cheeses lie on the shelves, and hams hang from above; where one dances about on tallow candles: that place where one enters lean, and comes out again fat and portly?" "I know no such place," said the Tree. "But I know the wood, where the sun shines and where the little birds sing." And then he told all about his youth; and the little Mice had never heard the like before; and they listened and said, "Well, to be sure! How much you have seen! How happy you must have been!" "I!" said the Fir Tree, thinking over what he had himself related. "Yes, in reality those were happy times." And then he told about Christmas-eve, when he was decked out with cakes and candles. "Oh," said the little Mice, "how fortunate you have been, old Fir Tree!" "I am by no means old," said he. "I came from the wood this winter; I am in my prime, and am only rather short for my age." "What delightful stories you know," said the Mice: and the next night they came with four other little Mice, who were to hear what the Tree recounted: and the more he related, the more he remembered himself; and it appeared as if those times had really been happy times. "But they may still come, they may still come! Humpy-Dumpy fell downstairs, and yet he got a princess!" and he thought at the moment of a nice little Birch Tree growing out in the woods: to the Fir, that would be a real charming princess. "Who is Humpy-Dumpy?" asked the Mice. So then the Fir Tree told the whole fairy tale, for he could remember every single word of it; and the little Mice jumped for joy up to the very top of the Tree. Next night two more Mice came, and on Sunday two Rats even; but they said the stories were not interesting, which vexed the little Mice; and they, too, now began to think them not so very amusing either. "Do you know only one story?" asked the Rats. "Only that one," answered the Tree. "I heard it on my happiest evening; but I did not then know how happy I was." "It is a very stupid story! Don't you know one about bacon and tallow candles? Can't you tell any larder stories?" "No," said the Tree. "Then good-bye," said the Rats; and they went home. At last the little Mice stayed away also; and the Tree sighed: "After all, it was very pleasant when the sleek little Mice sat round me, and listened to what I told them. Now that too is over. But I will take good care to enjoy myself when I am brought out again." But when was that to be? Why, one morning there came a quantity of people and set to work in the loft. The trunks were moved, the tree was pulled out and thrown, rather hard, it is true, down on the floor, but a man drew him towards the stairs, where the daylight shone. "Now a merry life will begin again," thought the Tree. He felt the fresh air, the first sunbeam, and now he was out in the courtyard. All passed so quickly, there was so much going on around him, the Tree quite forgot to look to himself. The court adjoined a garden, and all was in flower; the roses hung so fresh and odorous over the balustrade, the lindens were in blossom, the Swallows flew by, and said, "Quirre-vit! My husband is come!" but it was not the Fir Tree that they meant. "Now, then, I shall really enjoy life," said he exultingly, and spread out his branches; but, alas, they were all withered and yellow! It was in a corner that he lay, among weeds and nettles. The golden star of tinsel was still on the top of the Tree, and glittered in the sunshine. In the court-yard some of the merry children were playing who had danced at Christmas round the Fir Tree, and were so glad at the sight of him. One of the youngest ran and tore off the golden star. "Only look what is still on the ugly old Christmas tree!" said he, trampling on the branches, so that they all cracked beneath his feet. And the Tree beheld all the beauty of the flowers, and the freshness in the garden; he beheld himself, and wished he had remained in his dark corner in the loft; he thought of his first youth in the wood, of the merry Christmas-eve, and of the little Mice who had listened with so much pleasure to the story of Humpy-Dumpy. "'Tis over, 'tis past!" said the poor Tree. "Had I but rejoiced when I had reason to do so! But now 'tis past, 'tis past!" And the gardener's boy chopped the Tree into small pieces; there was a whole heap lying there. The wood flamed up splendidly under the large brewing copper, and it sighed so deeply! Each sigh was like a shot. And the children, who played nearby came, looked into the fire and cried: Piff, paff! And with every bang, which was a deep sigh, thought the tree of the summer evenings in the forest or of the winter night outside, when the stars were glittering; he thought of the Christmas evening and of Humpy-Dumpy, the only fairy tale he know to tell - and then the Tree was burned. The boys played about in the court, and the youngest wore the gold star on his breast which the Tree had had on the happiest evening of his life. However, that was over now, the Tree gone, the story at an end. All, all was over, every tale must end at last. The end |

Dear Mommy!
Today I arrived in Mechtestädt, a village in Thuringia and my first stop on the Big German RR. My host mom told me that the 2 other TVs staying with her right now (Harold Giraffe and Monkez) were very excited when they saw the little package the postman brought. But because you had packed me thoroughly they first had to get a pair of scissors and to cut the sticky tape. Monkez was very carefully doing this, while Harold watched. Bonnie, one of the cats living here also watched curiously. And then light came into my package and I saw the friendly faces of Harold and Monkez. Hello, hello! I was welcomed warmly and Harold and Monkez took me right into their middle. I showed them that I brought a present for my host too. Some postcards which she loves as she is an avid postcrosser. There was also a Germany postcard and with the help of Monkez I figured out where I am now. Thuringia is the center state of Germany, and sometimes also called the 'green heart' of Germany therefore. It is a neighbouring state of Hesse, so I am not too far away from home actually. And last but not least I showed Harold and Monkez my passport! They were surprised to see it. Well, we read the information about me in there, about my hometown and my mission. Bonnie was curious too. Now I will rest for some time because this is all new for me and so exciting. Thank you mommy for sending me here. I am sure I will have a great time. Love and Hugs, yours Tiplitaps |

What a terrible day today. I would love to spend some time outside but it looks like the end of world. Storm, rain and hail all morning long!
I hope the weather will be better the next days so that we can discover the village. |

Dear mommy!
Today I want to show you where I am staying at the moment. As you know the village is called Mechterstädt and here is the proof that I am really there. So we took a stroll through the village. There live about 1000 people here. And the map shows how small the place is. This is the street my host lives in. The one direction... .... the other direction. And this is the house in which I am staying. Next to it there is the village hall where the meetings and festivities of the village take place. There is a church... ... and even a little shop with a small playground in front. Wooh, me riding the motorbike! The river through the village is called 'Hörsel'. There is pretty much water at the moment. Well, it has been raining a lot lately. On our way back we posted some cards for postcrossing. |

Even though it was Saturday today my host had
to go to work. She is a teacher and she took me to school with her. I went to her class room and because it was still breaktime there weren't any students yet. So the room was empty. So this is the perspective of a teacher... Let's take a look out of the window. There is a nice park and a pond. After school we went shopping for groceries. And then off to go home by car! First we go straight, cross the motorway A4... Then here I have to turn left, as it tells on the sign. And then the village is already in sight. It was only short drive, about 10 minutes. |

Since one of my missions is to take a photo
with the coat of arms of the state I am in, we read some information about Thuringia today. Ok, let's see, here are some basic facts: Thuringia covers an area of about 16 000 sq km and therefore is the smallest of the Eastern states. There live about 2.2 million people. The state capital is Erfurt. The state flag is white and red. The coat of arms looks like this: It's a red and silver striped lion wich a golden crown on a blue background. There are eight silver stars as well, which represent the eight regions of the state. So let's get going. I need a red, blue and yellow pencil to colour the coat of arms. We don't have any silver colour... The yellow parts are easy since it is only the crown and the little nails of the lion. Then red and blue. That takes quite some time becaue there are so many corners in the coat of arms! But eventually I made it! Voila: The coat of arms of Thuringia. Then we had a look at a map of Thuringia to see where I will be going next week. It is on the wall of my host's study. Mechterstädt is right in the middle between Gotha and Eisenach and we will visit these two towns! You can already read what the towns are famous for. And last but not least I wrote a postcard with the 'Thueringer Waldbahn' to.... Oh no, I will not tell you that mom! To be continued next week! Have a good time! Yours Tiplitaps |

Dear Mommy,
As I had told you we went to Eisenach this week. You may have heard of this town in the west of Thuringia because it is famous for many things: the composer Bach lived and worked here Luther lived here there is the Reuter-Wagner Museum Eisenach has always been an automobile city (today OPEL has a factory here, too) there is the city castle and probably most famous WARTBURG castle, which is an UNESCO world heritage site Unfortunately we did not have time to visit all these places. We started at the Wandelhalle where all theses sights are advertised and where we took the pictures. Then we drove up to Wartburg castle. It was really quiet there and only a few people visiting. From the parking lot we had to walk a steep path for about 10 minutes. I was glad that my host carried me because for a little turtle like me it would have taken ages to get up there! And then finally: the famous view of the castle. Before we went into the castle grounds we took a look at the countryside and Eisenach from the top. Let's go inside then! On this map I got some information about the place. The castle was founded in 1067. Look! white doves! In 1155 they started to build the Palas. We did not go inside but here can you follow a virtual tour of the building. We had a beautiful view over the country. And then it was time to say goodbye because we also wanted to see something else in Eisenach. One last view. Back down we went to an interesting natural site near Eisenach, the 'Drachenschlucht'. It's like a little Grand Canyon in the middle of Germany. I don't think many people know about it. We had walked a little while when we saw the big letter A on the wall. A is for Annatal, the name of the area. Usually the gorge is closed in winter because of snow and ice but since there is no winter this year we could enjoy this beautiful view. And underneath us the water was flowing: We also had wet feet because the ground was very muddy. But still it was a nice trip! |
iloveletters Posted Jan 26, 2012, 4:29 pm |
This afternoon my host had to go to a
seminar in Gotha and so she took me along to give me a quick look at the city center and the castle. Ok, let's see where to go then. We started a the 'Wasserkunst' in front of the castle 'Friedenstein'. I had a good view over the old market square with the red town hall. The 'Wasserkunst' (waterart) is a kind of well which only runs in summer. So I could only take a picture of me in front of the wrapped parts and others without water. Then we went to the castle 'Friedenstein' and the statue of Ernst II. By the way: he is the older brother of Prince Albert who later married Princess Victoria of England! On our way back to the car we discovered this pyramide which is the tomb of Studnitz. |

Today I got to know all the pets living here
with my host. First I met Clyde, the cuddle cat. Actualle Clyde is a 'she' but when my host got her last year they thought she was a boy and that's why.... Next there is Bonnie, Clyde's sister. She is the lady in the house. Besides the two cats there are also two gerbils living here. They are as small as me! Ivisted them in their home, too. Where is the 2nd one!? Seems to be a bit shy. Then I discovered the running wheel and tried to go some rounds. You know I am a bit slow... 5 minutes later... Beware! A cat is approaching! What a moment when cats met mice! Too funny But the mice know they are safe! So I joined them. And there is a dog too. But, wait! Ok, it's not a real one, though. |

Today we went to a wedding fair.
No, my host does not want to marry but a friend's daughter took part as a mannequin. (Sorry, the pictures are a little dark, but it was difficult to take pictures with all the lights and mirror.) Oh, all these beautiful dresses! There were other booths with information for wedding ceremonies, e.g. you can book these doves. |

Now it is time for leaving Thuringia.
I had a good time and to keep some memories I did a bit of scrapbooking in my passport. Shesh, a new tv living here, had a look too. My host gave me a Gotha magnet as a souvenir for Noisy. Unfortunately we could not find a little item for my necklace. Sorry, mom. So then, ByeBye Thuringia. Bavaria here I come! |

In the morning I accompanied Pandamao and Maggy, the dog on a walk along the Isar river. We crossed a bridge and I caught a glimpse of Deutsches Museum (German museum). It is well-known for its Science and nature departments.
Then we walked along the Isar. Brrrr, it was cold out there. In the moment it is about -14 degree Celsius, but it felt like - 19 degrees because of the wind. |
Pandamao Posted Feb 14, 2012, 8:42 pm |
It is icecold outside! I do not want to go out. Instead I asked my host to show me her plants. She's got a lot of African violets and they are all blooming in different shades and colors. |
Pandamao Posted Feb 14, 2012, 8:52 pm |
Went shopping today and passed the Isartor, one of the old gates into the city. |
Pandamao Posted Feb 21, 2012, 12:18 am |
It snowed during the past days and was cold enough, so the snow did last. It is great to go for walks - I like the sound the snow makes under my feet.
I was building a snowman ---- hard work, but I like the outcome. First I started with rolling a ball in the snow until it was big enough. Then more balls, and some finishing creative touches - and here comes my snowman. |
Pandamao Posted Feb 21, 2012, 12:35 am |
Spring has come - at least inside the apartment. Here some more plants are starting to bloom. These are also gesneriads, the one with the white flowers is Chirita Tamiana and the one with the red dots is Kohleria Sunshine. I like this one very much, it is so colorful and makes me smile. I just wonder if they taste nice?? After all I am a turtle. |
Pandamao Posted Feb 25, 2012, 10:09 pm |
Across the corner there is a nice square - Gärtnerplatz. I especially like the theather there: the opera/theater of Gärtnerplatz. It was opened in 1865 and was first called „Actien-Volkstheater“. |
Pandamao Posted Feb 25, 2012, 10:33 pm |
I helped to pick a parcel at the post office's packing station today. I was really curious what's inside And guess what - it's more African violet plants! My host must be crazy - her apartment already is a djungle of African violets! |
Pandamao Posted Feb 26, 2012, 11:55 am |
I went shopping today at the Victuals Market in the city center. 200 years ago the market started as a market of farmers offering their products. Today you can find 110 stands with everything, food, exotic fruits, flowers, spices, lots of different things. The area is about 10.000 square meteres and in the middle there is a beergarden. And I found several small fountains with statues of local celebreties like Karl Valentin, a Munich comedian. |
Pandamao Posted Feb 26, 2012, 12:08 pm |
At one corner of the Victuals Market you can find the "Schrannenhalle". In former times Schrannenhalle meant the place where grain is sold/traded. The hall was built of glass and iron and rated as a techical masterpiece. The hall was torn down in the beginning of the 20th century, the building material was lost for more than 50 years and found again in 1978 and later rebuilt. |
Pandamao Posted Feb 26, 2012, 12:23 pm |
Close to the Schrannenhalle I visited the Munich City Museum and the Jewish Museum, that was built in 2007. |
Pandamao Posted Mar 1, 2012, 11:03 pm |
went for a beer tonight into the Hofbräuhaus. it is famous for the beer halls. |
Pandamao Posted Mar 1, 2012, 11:07 pm |
right next to the Hofbräuhaus is the Orlando House. And in between those buildings the Platzlgassn - a small alleyway, hardly visible from outside but very nice from inside. |

I am leaving München today to visit fam-united. It was a nice stay. |
Pandamao Posted Mar 3, 2012, 9:27 pm |
I also visited the Munich opera, Maximilian street (where all the posh designer shops are) and the former King's residence with Hofgarten. |
Pandamao Posted Mar 3, 2012, 9:34 pm |
In front of the residence's gates there are lion statues. Everybody rubs the lions' noses as it should bring luck. I could not stop and rubbed real hard
Right next to the residence is the Feldherrnhalle and Theatiner Church. |
Pandamao Posted Mar 3, 2012, 9:49 pm |
Before leaving my host said I "must" see Kaufinger/Neuhauser street (one of Germany's largest shopping streets), Marienplatz with the Munich townhall (and glockenspiel). |
fam-united Posted Mar 18, 2012, 3:00 pm |
Today I arrived at my new host's home. Petra welcomed me and then I had a rest. I think, we will go on a trip tomorrow.
Bye, Tiplitaps |
fam-united Posted Mar 18, 2012, 3:11 pm |
Today we drove to Cologne. Petra's husband had to be there for a Trade Fair and Petra met olgamaus.
Here is some information about Cologne (wikipedia): "Cologne (English pronunciation: /kəˈloʊn/, German: Köln [kœln], Kölsch: Kölle [ˈkœɫə]) is Germany's fourth-largest city (after Berlin, Hamburg and Munich), and is the largest city both in the Germany Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and within the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Area, one of the major European metropolitan areas with more than ten million inhabitants. Cologne is located on both sides of the Rhine River. The city's famous Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Cologne. The University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) is one of Europe's oldest and largest universities. Cologne is a major cultural centre of the Rhineland and has a vibrant arts scene. Cologne is home to more than 30 museums and hundreds of galleries. Exhibitions range from local ancient Roman archeological sites to contemporary graphics and sculpture. The Cologne Trade Fair hosts a number of trade shows such as Art Cologne, imm Cologne, Gamescom and the Photokina." Cologne Cathedral (German: Kölner Dom) is the city's most famous monument and the Cologne residents' most respected landmark. It is a Gothic church, started in 1248, and completed in 1880. In 1996, it was designated a World Heritage site; it houses the Shrine of the Three Kings that supposedly contains the relics of the Three Magi. Residents of Cologne sometimes refer to the cathedral as "the eternal construction site" (Dauerbaustelle). Cologne Central Station: On an average day, about 280,000 travellers frequent the station, making it fifth busiest station in Germany. Then we walked down to the Rhine. We turned around and took a look back to the cathedral. Here's the Hohenzollern Bridge. Great St. Martin Churchis a Romanesque Catholic church. Its foundations (circa 960 AD) rest on remnants of a Roman chapel, built on what was then an island in the Rhine. The church was badly damaged in World War II, with restoration work completed in 1985. We then walked around the Imhoff-Chocolate Museum. We took a look back to the Hohenzollern Bridge, cathedral and Great St. Martin. The museum is run by the Schokoladenmuseum Köln GmbH. Since March 2006, the Swiss chocolate manufacturer Lindt & Sprüngli has been its partner in producing exhibits. Prior to that the partner was the Cologne chocolate producer Stollwerck, and the museum was formerly known as the Imhoff-Stollwerck-Museum. On this photo you can see, how high the water was in 1995 and you can see, where we took the photo with the chocolate girl, where we stand for the view back to the churches and bridge. The yellow line shows the way we walked around the museum and the green line the way, where we came from. Inside the museum we saw all the machines which are necessary to make delicious chocolate. There is a real chocolate fountain! We all got wafers dipped into melted chocolate. Yummy! This equestrian statue shows Frederick William III of Prussia. You can see here, who else is on the base of the statue. The Heumarkt is beside the Alter Markt the biggest place in Cologne historic city. There are several small breweries in Cologne. This one is located at the Heumarkt. Another brewery in the small streets of the historic city. It started to rain and we walked back to the cathedral. We entered it and it was so so dark inside, that we had problems to take nice photos. So please excuse the quality. There was a nice mosaic on the floor. So this was the last photo of Cologne and we drove back to Bruchsal again. |
fam-united Posted Mar 18, 2012, 4:00 pm |
Today I had a chance to have a glance on the church tower and other houses of the palace area. I have to go there, I'm sure, that Petra will show me the palace.
The house with the tower is the county court. |
fam-united Posted Mar 18, 2012, 6:59 pm |
I still have to do some homework, although the envelope is still waiting for me. I have to learn more about Baden-Württemberg.
This is the coat of arms of Baden-Württemberg. Bruchsal is located in the Baden part. It has borders to France (F), Switzerland (S). The brown part is the black forest and the green the Rhine valley. Bruchsal is located at the edge of Rhine valley to Kraichgau hill country. In line 16 they asked for the word "Kraichgau". I learnt some new words, but I had to learn too, that the dialect is really different in the regions of Baden-Württemberg. But some words I already heard in my hosts' family: erlickere - to discover Gutsel - candy For the word "öbber" they say "ewwer" and it means somebody. Rubbelig is rough. Strange words! All the other words are from other regions, which can mean, that in the towns next to Bruchsal they say these words, who knows. This is the Baden-Song: The pupils at Petra's school worked on a project about Baden-Württemberg and here are their posters. I read all of them. Karlsruhe is the main city of the Baden part. Stuttgart is the main city of Baden-Württemberg. The Wilhelma is the zoo in Stuttgart. 111 A part of the Rhine also flows through Baden. |
fam-united Posted Mar 19, 2012, 8:30 pm |
Today we enjoyed the sunny weather and went on a walk to some nice places of Bruchsal.
Bruchsal was first named in 976, but it surely is older than that. Here we are in a street, where you still can see some old houses. About 80% of Bruchsal was destroyed during World War II., so you can't see many really old houses. The baroque palace of Bruchsal is one of the most beautiful baroque palaces of Germany. In the park you can find statues of the four elements fire, water, air and earth and four statues of the four seasons. Here you see summer. It is the only episcopal Baroque residence on the Upper Rhine. The foundation stone was laid in 1722 by Cardinal Damian Hugo von Schönborn, Prince Bishop of Speyer, who made the palace the centre of his absolutist dominion. Read more here. After being almost completely destroyed in the final days of World War II, the main tract was painstakingly reconstructed according to the original design and work was completed in 1975, including the magnificent dome, Marble Hall and Prince's Hall. The staircase designed by Balthasar Neumann is considered to be an architectural tour-de-force and has been described as the "finest staircase in the world". Here you see the church tower and the backside of the church St. Damian and Hugo. From this place you have a good view to many different buildings as named on the photo. This is the front of the palace with the main entrance. On the right is the building with the chamber music hall and on the left is the church. On this photo you can't see them. We just turned around and took a photo of the county court and the fountain called Amalienbrunnen or Schnecklesbrunnen, how they say in Bruchsal, because there sit many snakes on the fountain edge. Then we drove to the Andreasstaffel. You have a perfect view over Bruchsal from this place. Sorry, that this photo is so bad, but the sun was already really low and we had no chance to get a better photo. The Belvedere on the edge of the "Stadtgarten" was built by Leonhard Stahl in 1756 as a hunting lodge for Prince Bishop Franz Christoph von Hutten. Today, the Belvedere is used as a venue for concerts and theatre productions. |
fam-united Posted Apr 4, 2012, 4:52 pm |
Today we were invited to celebrate our host uncle's 80th birthday. We celebrated at a Greek Restaurant close to the Rhine. In the early afternoon we went on a walk to have a view on the Rhine. Both, the Rhine and the Neckar flow through Mannheim. Mannheim is a nice city, Petra told me, but she had no time to show more than the Rhine.

Hello mommy!
Today happily my first update from saxony and the beautiful Oberlausitz. I arrived here last saturday, but sadly LadyButterfly wasn't at home over easter. But on monday I heard noise out of the mailbox and and I was took out of it. The first time, LadyButterfly told me later, a TV wasn't took out of it's envelope not at her home. The first daylight I saw was at Eibau on a car park in the middle of a wood. LadyButterfly told me, we will do a little walk through the wood and I will learn something about saxonian legends or I should better say legends of the Oberlausitz. Oh I almost forgot! The wood belongs to a mountain called Kottmar. There are some some sights as you can see on the picture. (LadyButterfly helped me with climbing the sign... otherwise I hadn't managed it on my own! ) The wood and the spring of the Spree are a reservation, because of the much beech trees around the Spree spring. So this one of three springs of the Spree is also called "Buchenborn". This is the "Buchenborn"! The memorial for fallen german soldiers was build 1921 and renewed in 1957. Can you find me on the picture? I was sitting on the cairn in the middle of the spring! There was not much water, so I was able to sit on the place where the springs comes out in the summer. Just a few meters away from the spring I found a funny stone on the ground. It looks like a person, I thought! I was almost right with my thought! Because this stone is part of the first legend around the Kottmar and the Oberlausitz! This is what I found on a sign! The legend of the Spreespring Here, where today the Spree rises, where long time ago mossy rocks and huge flowermeadow . This was also the kingdom of the gnom Gerbod. Many little elfes protected the water of Kottmar and annoyed Gerbod with their singing. But when the gnom laughed the elfes ran away forever. Gerbod was so upset, he throw a spear to southwest. It drilled into the ground and a new spring came out of the hole. The water flows to the Spree and next to this new spring, the village Gersdorf was build. The stone is Gerbod who is still in the wood of the Kottmar! Maybe it's a bit hard to see for you, mommy, but this is the course of the Spree from it's beginning here at the Kottmar until Berlin. Here I saw the very young Spree! The next legend I found was about the wolveholes! The legend of the wolveholes In the early centurys the Kottmar was a huge wood with dark holes, where bears and wolves lived. The villagers were terrorized by them, they threaten human and animals. So the people dig holes everywhere around the Kottmar and put rods on it to hunt the beasts. On this way the people killed the wolves and bears and lived safe in their villages. And this is one of the wolveholes! A few steps away I found this beautiful face of a woman. Around her head three candles. And her face was on a coffin of stone. This is The legend of the crystal coffin on the Kottmar In the wood of the Kottmar near Kottmarsdorf and not far away from Löbau, you can find in the early morning a entry, which should have doors many times ago. Deep in the rock behind these doors, sometimes they still open today, there should lay a beautiful girl named Mirinda in a crystal coffin. The only sign that she lays here are three little flames, you can still see today where the entrance to the coffin is. A little bit strange, maybe I should discover if this legend is true? Hey you wouldn't believe it, mommy, but when I walk through the wood I found a easter egg! The easterbunny hasn't forgot me, I was so happy about it! The last legend I found was that one... The stonecross at the vineyard A northwest offshoot of the Kottmar is the vineyard between Kottmarsdorf and Obercunnersdorf. Here was long time ago a stonecross, but it was damaged when the streets were build. On this place should many times ago a villager of Obercunnersdorf been murdered by a hussite. The cross was build for the poor villager! Can you find me? On the way back to the car I found a overturned tree. Many trees got damaged by the last winter LadyButterfly told me, because there was very much snow and the trees weren't thick enough to hold the snow. Can you also find me on this picture, mommy? Yeah I sat on the tree! After that day outside we had a piece of cake and a hot chocolate and a coffee in a cafe, befor we drove home. I was happy my time in the little envelope and the mailbox ended! Love Tiplitaps |

Heyho mommy!
Today was a day with much hard work. We drove to Wehrsdorf, a little village quiet near the border to the Czech Republic. There will be LadyButterflys new home and today me and Fiete helped her with painting the walls in the new flat. The colour wasn't out decision, but we did our best painting the sleeping-room wall liliac. It was very hard work, but together we managed it. And because we did such good work, we really earn us a break with newspaper and a snack. After the work we drove to the farm of LadyButterflys boyfriend. It's just a small farm and there are living just a view animals, but I had the chance to see something very special. Luna, the housecat got babys just a few days ago. The catbabys are still very small and have still closed eyes. They are so cute and so cuddly, oh and they are the brothers and sisters of LadyButterflys cat. I even had the chance to make a photo only with the babys. It was funny, they are just a little bit bigger then me. Today was also the day of animals, so LadyButterfly took me with her to the stable, where I saw real cows. The white one is LadyButterflys favourite cow, because she was the first cow, she saw as a calf. LadyButterfly was very proud when the family decided that she can give her the name. So LadyButterfly named her Ella. Two thirsty cows! The brown one in the back is Christl. She was named that way, because she was born on christmas. Eye in eye with Ella and Christl and I must be honest... I was a little bit affraid of that big animals, but they are very nice. Mommy? Have you ever played hide and seek in the hay? I can tell you it is soooooooooo funny! Can you find me? Here I am! It was a funny day, but I'm happy to go to bed now... I'm sooooo tired! Love Tiplitaps |
LadyButterfly Posted Apr 15, 2012, 9:14 pm |
Hi mommy!
Today was a very unfriendly and rainy day! I'm very happy to be at home, drinking a hot chocolate and musn't go out anymore. But in the morning we had the chance (and also the weather... for the last time) to visit Kottmarsdorf and its windmill. This type of windmill is called "Bockwindmühle" and it is the most famous type in germany and the netherlands. The windmill of Kottmarsdorf was build in 1843 and worked for exactly 100 years. Today it is still used, but only for showgrinding and showrotating. Sadly it wasn't open today so I can't watch the inside of the mill. The back of the windmill. The wooden gears are still working! I'm sitting on the millstone. Hehe ok that was funny! LadyButterfly can speak and understand the dialect of the Oberlausitz. Most of the time she has no problem with it, but reading this sign is hard for her. Until now, she can't understand it, but she is still thinking about. And I also found some more informations. Befor we left Kottmarsdorf... me and Fiete made a picture on the "Ruhebänk'l" where we took a rest. I hope we will have better weather the next days! Love Tiplitaps |
LadyButterfly Posted Apr 20, 2012, 7:12 pm |
Hello mom!
It is getting serious with LadyButterflys move! The flat is getting empty more and more and it became a little bit stressfull. So I decided to help LadyButterfly a little bit, with storing all the stuff into the boxes. Ok it was a bit difficult, because I'm just a little turtle and all the other stuff was so big. But nevertheless... I did my best and together with Fiete and LadyButterfly we packed some boxes. After bringing the boxes into the car, we drove to the new flat, but we made a little stop in Neusalza-Spremberg, where LadyButterfly wanted to show me a house called "Reiterhaus"! This house was build in 1660 and is the oldest "Umgebindehouse" in the Oberlausitz. Soon I will tell you exactly what a Umgebindehouse is and I will show you another one. But for now I can tell you... you will see these houses only in the Oberlausitz! The house was used as a farmers house, but now it is a museum and memorial. Sadly we hadn't much time, so we can't go in! It was a very busy day! I hope you doing well mommy! I miss you much! Love Tiplitaps |
LadyButterfly Posted May 8, 2012, 7:24 pm |
Hey mommy!
It's time I show you the "Town of the thousand towers" as the town Bautzen is called. It is the capitol of the Oberlausitz and as LadyButterfly told me, one of the beautifullest towns in the world! It was very nice the day we drove to Bautzen and the weather was very sunny! Our first stop was at the Reichenturm, one of the main towers of Bautzen. It was build in the 14th or 15th century and it is 56 m high. As you can see the tower is a little bit awry. Thats because the top of the tower was to heavy for the grounding. When you went all the stairs up you can see inside the tower a solder. Another tower of Bautzen belongs to the town hall. It was build during many centurys, but the first town hall was build in 1213. The tower is 54 m high. It is one of the beautifullest town halls of the region. Right behind the town hall is the Dom the kathedral of Bautzen. This church is very, very special... not only because it has a kink in the middle. Inside of the church is are two churches, the catholic and the evangelic. The Dom was build in the year 1213 and is the oldest simultaneously church in germany. Just in front of the church it the Bautzener Senfladen. Bautzen is very famous for his mustard and mommy, if you are the next time in the supermarket just try the Bautzener mustard. And behind these gate, the treasure of the Dom is hide. This is the Schlossstraße and in the back you can see the Ortenburg, the center of Bautzen. It was grounded in the year 928 and the all the walls have a special legend. They should build of flour, water, eggs and stones, but I think this is really only a legend! Ok now I will tell you a very strange story, mommy! You see the two heads under the window? That should be a monk and a nun, they felt in love with each other and for their punishment, they where build in the wall. Uhhhhhh strange, isn't it? And this is the center building of the Ortenburg. Today it is a court yard. This is the Rietschgiebel from the sculptor Ernst Rietschel and was was finished 1840. Today it is a part of the theatre of Bautzen. This is one of three watertowers of Bautzen! A ruin next to the watertower. LadyButterfly is a little bit embrassed, but she don't know what this ruin is! She tried to find it out, but hasn't found the right signs. Back home Fiete and me tried the Bautzener mustard! Love Tiplitaps |

Hello Mommy,
i send you some greetings from Bonn. Yesterday it was very interesting: my host takes me to a "Nightwatcher" Tour through Bonn. Therefor i send you some pictures from Bonn, so you can have a first look to Bonn. A little view to one of three Rhine Bridges... In the background you can see the two towers of Bonn: the "DHL Tower"(highest tower in North-Rhine Westphalia) and the "Langer Eugen", the headquarter of the United Nation. Here you can see the administration building of the University of Bonn. There are over 32.000 student learning at this University.... This is the old city-hall of Bonn. It was buit in 1737. Today, it is only used for representation of the lord mayor. This is a view of the market place of Bonn... At last a view at the pedestrian area of Bonn....it's nice... So, you see it is dark...i go to bed now... *kisses* Tiplitaps |

After that, i went on top of the "Kreuzberg", where you have a wonderful view to my hosts hometown and normally you can see the "Kölner Dom". But the weather isn't good for this... But there is an old chapell on the top of the hil. It was build over 400 years ago...and there is an replica of the "Scala Santa" of Rome. It was build from Balthasar Neumann and year for year there comes many christians on "Karfreitag", to climb the stairway on their knees to pray to god. The rest of the year, you can't use this stairway. Love, Tiplitaps |

NEW STATE, NEW LUCK!
Yayy, I'm in Berlin, the capital of Germany. Marie, my host, showed me round her flat. I was welcomed by two cute guinea pigs: QuamQuam (brown) and Klea (black). After that I saw a sweet toy cat sitting on a shelf and I had a look at a wooden owl and Marie's guitar. Then I enjoyed the view from her window. When I wanted to write the Travelog update I saw her mouse, it has the same size as me and it is very beautiful. Oh, and on the last photo you can see the Berlin coat of arms. Greetings Tiplitaps |

Hello everybody,
guess what I did today. I visited the "Pfaueninsel" (Peacock Island)! It was so great there. As the name already says, Peacock Island is a little island where peacocks are living. If I was a peacock, I would like to live there, too because the island is soooo beautiful. Green, healthy plants everywhere you look, fountains, some nice buildings and of course the peacocks. The strange thing was that I saw only male ones... and one of them looked like a cat . Anyway, the peacocks were very curious. They came very near to us, especially when we wanted to eat something . After a long day on the island we took the ferry back to the mainland. I hope you like the photos, Mummy. Greetings Tiplitaps |

Today a new tv arrived: It's Kuromi-chan from Singapore!
I've never met a tv from so far away before. It will be very interesting to to talk with her. |
QuamQuam Posted Jul 1, 2012, 3:02 pm |
Hi Mum,
today Marie showed Kuromi-chan and me the place where she lives. We saw the big meadow in front of her house. The grass there is soooo soft . The best thing was the little playground, we had much fun there . Greetings Tiplitaps |
QuamQuam Posted Jul 13, 2012, 7:02 pm |
We visited a petting zoo today! Oh, it was great there . We saw some sheep and goats. Right in the middle of the petting zoo there was a mill. It is very old but it's still working. The miller still produces flour there.
There was also another playground. I had much fun riding the sheep . I hope your day was as nice as mine, Mummy. Greetings Tiplitaps |

Hello my dear Mum,
it was so hot today . So we went to the "Wukensee" in Biesenthal to go swimming. It was really nice there. The lake looked beautiful and the water was warm. When I wanted to relax at the beach, a duck visited me and asked me for food but I didn't have anything for it . On our way back we explored the area a bit. Greetings Tiplitaps |

SURPRISE, SURPRISE! We are going to the Baltic Sea till Saturday .
I helped to pack the bags. |
QuamQuam Posted Jul 21, 2012, 6:10 pm |
Puh, after 5 hours travelling by "S-Bahn" and train we were finally there: In Binz on Rügen. The first thing I wanted was to see the Baltic Sea, of course. At once we all went to the beach and there it was. Oh Mummy, it is sooo beautiful!! There is so much water everywhere and you can look so far, I was impressed.
You'll hear from me soon Tiplitaps |
QuamQuam Posted Jul 22, 2012, 1:14 pm |
Hi Mum,
today we went along the seafront to the center of Binz. From there we had a wonderful view at the Sea. We passed souvenir shops and came to some nice fountains and a great climbing tree . The day was really fine although the weather wasn't... I hope it will be better the next days. Greetings Tiplitaps |

Hello Mummy,
we saw many sculptures today. But not ordinary ones, sculptures made of sand! They were really beautiful and showed scenes from fairy tales. For example "The star-money" or "Puss in Boots". Do you know them all? Greetings Tiplitaps |
QuamQuam Posted Jul 23, 2012, 5:32 pm |
To relax we went to the hotel swimming pool because it was too cold to swim in the Baltic Sea. |

Heyho Mum,
we visited the Butterfly Park in Sassnitz today. It was not really a park but a kind of tropical area with many butterflies and beautiful plants inside, as you can see. As we watched a few butterflies one of them landed on Marie! She didn't have the time to hold us into the camera but you can see Kuromi-chan and me inside her bag . It was a wonderful day and I'll never forget it. Greetings Tiplitaps |

Welcome to the zoo, Mum!
We spent a nice time there although the zoo was quite small. But even in the smallest zoo you can see animals . I loooved the little rabbit, you too? Greetings Tiplitaps |

Later that day we played miniature golf. That was fun . |
QuamQuam Posted Jul 28, 2012, 3:41 pm |
Today we went to Putbus by the Rushing Roland, a locomotive. The landscape we saw was beautiful. Marie said that we'll see something we have never seen before.
Mum, have you ever seen a house that stands upside down? I have now, and it looks strange . We found it so cool that we had to go inside. And guess what: The rooms were also upside down! Impressive, huh? It's really worth a visit . From the top of the house you had a wonderful view. Greetings Tiplitaps |

Hi Mummy,
so this is our last day here at the Baltic Sea . I enjoyed the time here very much. Because the weather was fantastic, we spent the day at the beach to say "Goodbye" to the Sea. Kuromi-chan and I made a little sandcastle and a sand elephant with the help of Marie's sister. We even swam! But not long because the water was still very cold. As we walked along the beach we saw seagulls and beach chairs. The next update will be in Berlin again. CU Tiplitaps |

We saw an envelope in the letterbox when we arrived in Berlin! Curious we looked inside... and out came _Mishuta_ from the Ukraine. He even brought us some sweets. They were so YUMMY . We three talked the rest of the day. |
QuamQuam Posted Jul 30, 2012, 2:51 pm |
Oh Mummy, we saw soooo many sights today! Marie started with us at the "Weltzeituhr" (world clock). As the name already says, it shows the time around the world. It is also a famous meeting point. We went on to the "Fernsehturm" (television tower). With its 365 meters it is the second highest television tower although I can't imagine that there is something higher than this .
Anyway, the next sight we saw was the "Marienkirche" (Church of Our Lady). It is one of the oldest churches in Berlin. Right next to it was the "Neptunbrunnen" (Neptune Fountain). It looked very impressive. If we turned around we could see the "Rotes Rathaus" (Red Townhall). The "Berliner Dom" (Berlin Dome) and the "Spree" right opposite to it also looked beautiful. The last and the coolest sight we saw was the "Brandenburger Tor" (Brandenburg Gate). It marks the border between east- and west Berlin. I love to learn new things. That's what toyvoyagers is about, or not? Greetings Tiplitaps |

Hello Mum,
when you read this, I'm already on my way to the next host. The time in Berlin, especially the time at the Baltic Sea, was great. I'll miss my new found friends very much. That's why they both got a big hug from me . The last picture shows me, too. Ok, I'm the one inside the envelope but you know what I mean . Bye, see you soon Tiplitaps |

Hi Mum,
I arrived in Sülfeld – and Dicker Kumpel gave me a warm welcome. Then he introduced me to the other TVs here. I arrived just in the right time, because we went to a fun fair. I didn’t want to try one of this carousels, but it was nice to see them. But I loved this chocolate stick – and it was healthy because of the pineapple inside. Look - this house had nice colors – and the people inside had a lot of fun. And this carousel was nice, too – not as fast as most of the others. This one was called wild mouse XXL. We stopped here - and then we went home. Love Tiplitaps |

Hi Mum,
Today we took a trip to a village near to Sülfeld. Can you see me on the big stone? See me on a lot of wood! We found a nice place and talked a lot. Then we went to a nice cabin – and watched for birds! Can you see the white dots – there were swans! I liked the tree in front of the blue sky. And I loved this funny tree. We had fun at this point. We made a competition in long jump. Unfortunately I wasn’t successful – but this is normal for a turtle. Can you imagine what I did here? Yes, I used the slide. Before we went home – we played on this big swing. This was fun! Love Tiplitaps |

Hi Mum,
I went to a little town near to Sülfeld today – Bad Oldesloe. The white building behind me is the town hall. This is the Stadthaus – but I don’t know what is inside the house. I loved this water wheel. We had a rest next to a small river. There were some old houses in the city – a nice place with a lot of flowers. Love Tiplitaps |

Hi Mum,
Today I went to Lübeck – a nice town in the North of Germany. They have really beautiful old houses here. This is the theatre of Lübeck. I loved the beautiful balcony of the town hall. These are views from the other side. I went to the river – and saw old storehouses. On the other side of the river are typical houses. The river was really nice. On the last photo you see the most famous building of the city – it is called Holstentor. Years ago it was on a bill of German money. Love Tiplitaps |

Hi Mum,
A new guest arrived today – it is Lorca. She showed the nice postcard that olgamaus created. Later we visited Dicker Kumpels Grandma. She had birthday this week – and this is one of her presents. I really loved these wonderful flowers! Love Tiplitaps |

Hello Mum,
The weather was awful outside, so we decided to explore the house. A horse must have lived here in the Past. I tried to call you, but you were not at home. No wine in this barrel. Then I played the trumpet or whatever this was. Yours Tiplitaps |

Hello Mum,
On Sunday we made a walk through Sülfeld. This is the old church. On the other side of the street is the old pharmacy. Here you can see the emblem of Sülfeld. Do you understand the words on this big rock? Behind the rock there is the old school. Many greetings Tiplitaps |

Can see me in this colorful flowers? I found these two boats to play with. And I was promised to see the big one in the harbour later during my visit. Look at me talking with this funny frog. Hi mum,
today we had a wonderful sunny day. So we decided to walk along the "Alsterwanderweg" (Alster walking way). It is a park along the river Alster. See me in front of the Alster. There are so many nice places. We had a rest and sat down on an old tree. We wanted to drink a coffee in a small café, but to our regret it wasn't possible to get a free table. All the very best Tiplitaps |

Hi mum,
today a new TV arrived. Look, what a funny guy took a look at us! His name is Alex24 and he is a TV-dog. Clairchen and LewisHH told us that they have a dog as TV-brother. His name is Spencer and we looked at his updates. Alex had a lot of questions about Hamburg. So Scilly showed us the Hamburg flag and a lot of information in the web. All the very best Tiplitaps |

Hi mum,
the autumn has arrived in Hamburg. It is raining the whole day. But we decided to visit the town centre. Look at me in front of the town hall. Thats me in the entrance of the town hall. We found a golden letter box. Hamburg must be a rich town What a lovely little fountainl in the entrance hall. We used it for a short break. This is the courtyard of the town hall with a big fountain. But it was too wet to play with the fountain figures. This is a view to the "Alsterarkaden". It is a small but very nice shopping lane next to a canal. Even so it was raining we had a great time. All the very best Tiplitaps |
ScillyHH Posted Sep 29, 2012, 4:54 pm |
Hi mum,
after work Scilly showed us the Binnenalster. The Binnenalster is a lake in the middle of town. But first it was raining it the sky was grey. See me in front of the Alsterlake with its big fountain and one of the white Alsterboats. Look at this funny boat top Because of the rain we decided to have a cup of coffee and a piece of cake in a bakery. What a nice view! That's me on the Gänsemarkt, an old market place near the Binnenalster. On our way back to the rapid transit line we saw the sun Look, how beautiful! This the oldest Alsterboat - St Georg. All the very best Tiplitaps |

Hi mum,
the day began with a flight from Hamburg to Zurich. See me enjoying the view out of the window. Flying with an plane is very comfortable. I had the full service with tea, a coke and a chocolate bar. The only thing I did not like was the seat belt. Zurich welcomed us with sunshine. It is a very nice town. First we went from the airport to the main station and from there to the place called Paradeplatz. Here you can find two of the most famous banks: UBS and Credit Suisse. In this building behind me you can find the well known Lind Sprüngli Café. This is the Bahnhofstrasse leading to the Zurich lake. Can you see the swiss flag hanging in the middle of the road? This is a nice church in the middle of town. See me in front of the "Großmünster", another church near the lake. The building on the right side is the town hall of Zurich. We walked to the lake and went on boat trip. See me and my friends sitting on the boat. Here are some impressions from our boat trip. In Rapperswil we left the boat. There found this funny and huge shoe. Back in Zurich we had a break with a hot chocolate in the Lind Sprüngli Café. Then it was time to fly home. We had a last view to the planes at Zurich airport. This was a great day! Alle the very best Tiplitaps |

Hi mum,
today we found a lot of conkers. See me collecting the conkers. Later we will use them for the autumn decoration. On our way we saw this funny man. He is very famous in Hamburg. His name Hans Hummel. In former times men were carrying the water through the town. And one of them was Hans Hummel. We went to the airport to do some planespotting. But I prefer flying on my own All the very best Tiplitaps |

Hi mum,
the weather is fine. So we decided to take walk in Mellingburg. It is situated in the northeast of Hamburg. It is hard to believe that Mellingburg is a part of Hamburg because it is so green. First we found this old building. Very nice but it looks a little bit wobbly. This was an old watermill. Oh look. the autumn can be so nice! This is the first lake we saw in Mellingburg. These ducks are very nosy to see who we are. We especially liked this lake, it is very idylic. Look, we found a "Waldkindergarten". It is a special kind of kindergarden. The children only have the house as a base and they play in the forrest every day and learn o lot about the nature. I like this idea. This was a nice afternoon out. All the very best Tiplitaps |

Hi mum,
today the summer is back in town. First we went to the Hamburg harbour. See me in front of the "Landungsbrücken" where the boat trips starts. Then we went to Övelgönne with its museum harbour. This boat is an old ice breaker. This is an old tug. This is an old harbour ferry. Today it is a museum café. I especially like this old sailing boat. Look, what a nice frame house. It is a restaurant. But it is not the best photograph of me Because of the weather we went to the beach on the river Elbe. See me enjoying the day on the beach with this fantastic harbour view. All the very best Tiplitaps |
