Hello guys!
My name is Kasurinen. I'm a small tiger and I want to travel around the world! I want to see as many different places as possible, meet people from different countries and see how they live their daily life. But I also would like to do unusual things: see places that aren't typical tourist attractions and do things that we toys typically don't do (but coming back home in a good condition is my mission number 1!) |
emmakko Posted Apr 13, 2012, 4:19 pm |
My ToyVoyager adventure started today! I'm right now spending my Easter holiday in Southern Finland in a small town called Hämeenlinna. Hämeenlinna is famous for Aulanko national urban park, which is full of interesting things and beautiful nature. First of all I visited the observation tower of Aulanko:
As you can see, it's not summer enough here in Finland so the tower was closed. I think I would have been too lazy to go there, too many stairs! In this picture you can see my ToyVoyager friend Konsta. Konsta is quite a new ToyVoyager, just like me, and this was our very first trip outside our home! Don't eat me please!! I taste very bad!! Next we visited a small castle that is located in the same park. It looks very old and I was sure that there must have lived kings and queens hundreds of years ago. But then I was told that actually this castle is not a real castle: the guy who founded the park just wanted to make the park look better and built this old looking castle. The door to the tower of the castle was closed, so sad! I would have liked to get in but then I heard spooky voices and ran away. We found out that there were birds living inside the tower. When we were about to leave the castle we suddenly found a chocolate bunny that was hiding under a bush! We have now idea what the chocolate bunny was doing there but it has to have something to do with the Easter! After taking a group photo of me, Konsta and the bunny we drove to another park to see the ancient ruins that, well, aren't ancient and aren't ruins. The guy who founded this park just wanted to build ruins that look ancient. Then it started snowing heavily and we decided to drive back home. Later in the evening my mentor and Konsta's mentor decided to make cupcakes. This was the very first time they made them so it almost ended up in a catastrophe. Making the pink decoration thing was harder than they had thought! Now when they finally managed to make it right the result looks quite tasty! |

Hello again!
Today my TV friend Konsta and I decided to take a look at the Finnish nature. The spring is finally coming, hopefully, and the snow is melting fast. Our mentors took us to the forest and showed us a huge stone. It's so huge, that we look even more tiny. Can you see us? Forest... More forest... An exciting small cave. The forest we visited was actually quite small and there weren't much to see at this time of the year so we didn't spend so much time there. Instead we went to a children's playground! This horse was too lazy! It didn't want to move at all! See you soon! |
emmakko Posted Apr 21, 2012, 1:34 pm |
Hi again!
I have found my first host! I'm going to travel to LUXEMBOURG soon! I thought I should visit some places in my hometown Tampere before that. But first I took a look at other things: Hello, ladies... So sad, these beautiful girls could speak only Russian! Emma has a collection of yellow Easter birds that are a bit different. One of them has lost her eye and at least two have got wet and look weird because of that. Emma's mum thought that these birds doesn't fit her Easter decorations and wanted to throw them away but Emma thought they were cute and took them to Tampere. Last but not least I met a police officer. Then we went out for a walk. We visited a small market place called Laukontori and took some photos there. As you can see, the weather wasn't so good... We also saw this huge creature on the other side of the lake and wanted to go and take a look at it. We found out that it's a huge rubber duck that was made of old car tires. Quite cool. |
emmakko Posted Apr 21, 2012, 1:40 pm |
Plastic surgery.
I wasn't satisfied with my "extra tail" and wanted to get rid of it before I start my adventures. |
emmakko Posted Apr 27, 2012, 12:24 pm |
Hi!
This is my last weekend in Finland! I celebrated it by participating a folk dancing event in Turenki. Emma and I were selling sweets and cakes. My TV friend Konsta was also helping us. Our little shop had a huge success so we didn't have time to go to see the dances! So delicious! The Finnish folk dancing dresses look like this: |
emmakko Posted Apr 27, 2012, 12:49 pm |
Emma and her friend organized a small Tampere sight-seeing tour for me. First we visited a church that doesn't really look like a typical church, or what do you think?
The spring has finally arrived in Tampere! Just a couple of weks ago we still had lots of snow on the ground but now the first flowers of the year are already blooming! This statue looked so weird that I absolutely wanted to take a photo of it. I have no idea of what this guy is doing. My mentor is a fan of languages and she loves jokes related to languages (and especially language-related mistakes). This is one of her favourite mistakes ever, and she absolutely wanted to take a picture of me in front of it. In English the text on this sign would be "parking car- and motorcycles prohibited". I mean, carcycles? What are they? What makes this all even more funny is that "pyörä" also means a wheel or a tire. So, is it also prohibited to leave your car tires here? This is the fire station of Tampere. A nice old building, isn't it? Unfortunately we didn't see any fire trucks or firemen there A typical Tampere view: If you are in love with someone and happen to live in Tampere, you can write your names on a lock, lock it here and throw the key away. A cute idea, isn't it? |
emmakko Posted Apr 27, 2012, 12:53 pm |
Welcome, Gwënelle!!

an old, very old farm in the middle of a forest. It's sad to see the bad condition of the buildings. |
Lisianne Posted May 15, 2012, 5:16 pm |
The whole countryside around is rural.
To find a town we must drive about 20 min. and than it's only a very small town. |
Lisianne Posted May 19, 2012, 2:03 pm |

|

We made a boot trip today. The Lake Lucerne is fantastic! It was nice, because the weather was perfect!
|
dawoni Posted Sep 5, 2012, 7:10 pm |
Hi, I like to show you the wonderful city of Lucerne. It's really a very beautiful city. ...let's have a look:
That's a very new building. It's the new University of Lucerne. It opend last year. The beautiful Lake Lucerne... ...with one of its famous steamer. The KKL (Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern). The Wagenbach Fountain in front of the KKL. The world famous Chapel Bridge (Kappelbrücke). The Chapel Bridge is a covered wooden footbridge spanning diagonally across the Reuss River. As part of the bridge complex, the Chapel Bridge includes the octagonal 43 m tall Wasserturm, which literally translates to "water tower". The Kapellbrücke almost burned down on August 18, 1993, destroying two thirds of its interior paintings. Shortly thereafter, the Kapellbrücke was reconstructed and again opened to the public on April 14, 1994 for a total of $2.1 million dollars A very nice painted house. It's the Fritschi-House or also the "Swiss House of carnival". It tells not only Fritschi's history, it also reflects the Lucerne Carnival. ...and the Fritschi-fountain. That was my city walk. I hope you enjoyed it. |
dawoni Posted Sep 12, 2012, 2:04 pm |
We had a fantastic soccer evening today. Switzerland played against Albania. It was a qualifiers game for WM 2014 in Brazil. I really enjoyed the game. ...Switzerland won 2:0!
|

We celebrated Maras first birthday today.
Yummiii, I really love the wonderful cake. |
dawoni Posted Sep 19, 2012, 8:03 pm |
We enjoyed the day at thr river Engelberger-Aa. I really loved to jump on the stones.
I need a break now! |
dawoni Posted Sep 25, 2012, 1:30 pm |
We celebrated Cow's descent from Alpine today! I really enjoyed watching the beautiful cows.
The cows' descent from Alpine pastures gives rise to an impressive popular celebration. Having spent approximately four months on Alpine pastures, the beautifully adorned herds with their bells ringing rhythmically, together with the Alpine herdsmen in their traditional costumes, move back down to the valley. This popular celebration honors an ancient custom and keeps the tradition alive. Coffee cooking... Some nice pics without me: ...does it count as a participant in a weird national tradition?!? |
dawoni Posted Oct 9, 2012, 8:58 pm |
We enjoyed a private Alphorn concert in Lucerne. Funny music!
...look at the video to hear the special sound! |
dawoni Posted Oct 13, 2012, 3:32 pm |
We went to a book vernissage today. It was a very special one, because it was Globis Birthday. He could celebrate his 80. birthday today. Globi is a famous Swiss children book figur. He's very funny. The book vernissage was at Brunni. Brunni is a place above Engelberg.
This is Globi: Oh yes, we really had fun! He's new book! |
dawoni Posted Oct 13, 2012, 3:57 pm |
We made very, very special trip today. It was a wedding present for good friends of my hostfamily. We flew from Kerns to Locarno by helicopter! Wow, it was amazing! I really loved to see the alps from above!
|
dawoni Posted Oct 19, 2012, 9:29 pm |
We really had a hard job to do. I helped my hostmom to print postcards. They send every quartal postcards to their costumers. Normally she has to print 4500 adresses on the postcards.
Ufff, finally done. We just have to go to the post office now. |
dawoni Posted Oct 19, 2012, 9:34 pm |
We installed our birds house today. Now winter & birds can come!
|
dawoni Posted Oct 28, 2012, 7:45 pm |
I could visit the Glasi Hergiswil, because we had to buy a birthday-present! The Glasi Hergiswil is the only glass works in Switzerland where glass is manually shaped and blow into unique contemporary forms. We really had fun. I watched the glassblowers at their work. I really liked the shop, because I jumped and stayed on the wonderful glass products! I also enjoyed the wonderful lake view with the mountains. Fantastic…
…but let me show the pictures! |
dawoni Posted Nov 4, 2012, 1:56 pm |
We went to Hasliberg today. Exactly to the Restaurant Alpen Tower for having breakfast. Panorama-Restaurant Alpen Tower was completed in the summer of 1999 on Planplatten, the viewing plateau high above Meiringen. The Alpen Tower can be easily reached from Meiringen and Hasliberg Reuti by train. From Meiringen in the valley, the modern aerial cable car takes visitors to Hasliberg Reuti. Here, you can hop on the 8-seater gondola train “Alpen Tower Express" to Mägisalp. The journey continues aboard the splendid Eagle Express, the first 8-seater gondola train in the Bernese Oberland, which conveys you comfortably to the Alpen Tower at 2250 meters.
Look at this wonderful mountains! From the Alpen Tower a pass road leads in 5 minutes to the nearby viewing point on the Planplatten Ridge. Illustrated markers give information on the surrounding peaks and Alpine passes. This place is also very famous for paragliding. First snow! Me and my friend Birdt |
dawoni Posted Nov 10, 2012, 8:29 pm |
First snow. Wonderful. I can't get wait to get outside!!!
Finally, I can play in the snow. It's the first snow here in Switzerland. ...and it's very early. It isn't normal that it snows in October. Nice, I love it, but it's sooo cold. Brrrr! And then, we made a big snowman! |
dawoni Posted Nov 13, 2012, 8:10 pm |
We went to families Sunday walk. We really enjoyed the wonderful weather. It was very warm. Wonderful autumn!
The Mount Pilatus in the background. People say, that it looks like a sleeping bishop. |
dawoni Posted Nov 13, 2012, 8:40 pm |
We celebrated „St. Martin’s Day“. The day is celebrated on the evening of November 11. Children go through the streets with lanterns and candles. A man dressed as Saint Martin rode on a horse in front of the procession.
But first, we made our autumn-turnips-light. I think, it really looks fantastic! I love it. |
dawoni Posted Nov 22, 2012, 8:53 pm |
We went to Mount Pilatus today. Mount Pilatus (German: Pilatus) is a mountain overlooking Lucerne in Central Switzerland. The top can be reached with the Pilatus Railway, the world’s steepest cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad, operating from May to November (depending on snow conditions), and the whole year with the aerial panorama gondolas and aerial cableways from Kriens.
This day, the Mount Pilatus offered a colourful Christmas Market on Pilatus Kulm. Over 40 exhibitors from the region displayed their lovingly created handicrafts. The Christmas Market on Pilatus is the highest Christmas Market of Europe (2132 meters over sea level). We went outside after the Christmas Market. I really enjoyed the wonderful view. |
dawoni Posted Dec 2, 2012, 8:43 pm |
As it is soon Christmas time, I helped to produce some biscuits. Hmmm, it smells wonderful.
After baking, we put a brown and white one together. Finish... |
dawoni Posted Dec 2, 2012, 8:52 pm |
It's time to say "bye bye". I will leave Switzerland today. But I'm very happy that I see my mum after such a long time.
My new friend birdt helped me going to the postoffice. I just have to say "Goodbye" to Birdt... ...and then, I jumped into the post box. Bye, Switzerland...! I hope the travel won't take too much time. |
dawoni Posted Dec 2, 2012, 9:06 pm |
It's my last evening here in Switzerland. I made my updates in my travel book.
|
emmakko Posted Jan 9, 2013, 2:46 pm |
