Today I visited the area around a castle near my home. We saw the castle from outside and went to its gardens. The Gardens had its origin in the 17th century, when the marriage of Leopold's great-grandfather Prince John George II of Anhalt-Dessau to the Dutch princess Henriette Catharina, in 1659 brought a team of engineers and architects from the Low Countries to lay out the town, the palace and a Baroque garden in the former settlement of Nischwitz, which was renamed Oranienbaum in 1673. The Dutch influence remained prevalent in the Principality of Anhalt-Dessau for many decades. Oranienbaum Palace was finished in 1683 as the summer residence of Henriette Catharina, where she retired after the death of her husband in 1693. From 1780 on Duke Leopold III had the palace and the park rebuilt in a Chinese style with several arch bridges, a tea house and a pagoda. In 1811, the orangery was built, with 175 m (574 ft) in length one of the largest in Europe, which still serves to protect a wide collection of citrus plants. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau, opened a new gallery this year.
And there are lots of palm trees in the park. We found a nice wagon where we could relax a little bit. Then also found a lovely nostalgic bridge. It looks really special! Look, the Chinese pagoda is so beautiful when the sun is shining. We also visited the Chinese tea house. Can you see us? Peaches |

We did a road trip by car.
We stopped to have a look at these beautiful purple flowers. I really like them. Then we drove to the vegetable field to check out when it is time to harvest. Hmm, I think we have to wait a few more days. We stopped again near some flowers and took one into our car. Isn't it beautiful? Then we drove and drove and drove... until we arrived on a sunny place. We decided to do a picnic. Alex put lots of stuff to eat and drink into the trunk. Brilliant kitty! We enjoyed our picnic! We all got some lemonade and fruits. The mice got some cheese. We also had chicken, sausages and cake. Alex decided to drink milk instead of lemonade. It was so delicious! When we all were full we put the leftovers back into the trunk and drove home. We used a fast street, of course! Peaches |

Today I walked through my home city.
Here you can see the Haus der Kulturen der Welt ("House of the Cultures of the World" ). It is Germany's national centre for contemporary non-European art. It presents art exhibitions, theater and dance performances, concerts, author readings, films and academic conferences on non-European Visual Art and culture. This building is a gift from the United States, designed in 1957. John F. Kennedy spoke here during his June 1963 visit to West Berlin. To Berliners it is also known as the Schwangere Auster ("pregnant oyster" ). This is the Bismarck Memorial. It is a prominent memorial statue dedicated to Prince Otto von Bismarck, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Prussia and the first Chancellor of the German Empire. Peaches |

Today the weather was wonderful! Lots of sun!
So I decided to enjoy the day with relaxing in the garden. On my way to the garden I saw lots of daysies! I was a little bit hungry. I found some other lovely flowers in the garden. Aren't they beautiful? Btw: I love lilies! The flowers smelled so delicious! So I searched for something to eat. It was really easy to find something. First I ate a whole head of lettuce. Please don't tell my Mom, because I think it was the last one. Then I found some berries. Some were light red, some dark red. I didn't know what kind of berries this could be. First I tried a light one. It was really sour. Then I took the darker one. It was so delicious! At home I asked my Mom about these berries. She told me it is called Tayberry. Never heard of this before, but it was worth it to taste! I'm going to meet my first host the upcoming week. I'm so excited! Peaches |

Hello, Mummy!
Today my first journey without you started! I was so excited! Hostmum said we will go to a special place. Hmmm, what will this be?!?! We visited the Miniwelt, where a lot of famous buildings were built in scale 1:25. I got an impression of a few of my life missions 3 in one day But at first a wonderful castle near my hometown, Castle Sanssouci in Potsdam. I just tourned around and were in Paris! Wow, just one moment later I was in India at Taj Mahal. What a wonderful building! I was completely fascinated! I changed to the british island to Stonehenge. To get completely crazy I got a jetlag and landed in Australia at the opera of Sydney! Russia must be wonderful, too! I visited the Basilius cathedral in Moscow! Like all world tourists do, I had to go on, soon! We entered the Capitol in Washington and Cheerio hissed the flagg of the USA And last but not least: Chichen Itza, but not in Mexico, but in Saxony I hope I will see all these sights in real! Greetings and kisses to you! Peaches |

Hello Mummy!
Today I got my first Yoga lesson in my life! Bierle, a resident plushy was our teacher. He said before you can do Yoga you have to meditate. After a short ooooooooooooom we started with the "dog". I managed it quite good, only sometimes I jiggled to the side Next position was the "Cobra". No, not dangerous, Mummy! It is just a position where you must put the head into neck and breath deeply. And I did! I am a very good breather! After we finished we relaxed some minutes. Oh, what a good feeling! Have you ever seen so happy plushies? Love and peace, Peaches |

Hey Mummy!
Peaches here! Today we accompanied hostmum to Coburg, a nice little city with a lot of history and interesting old buildings. We passed a wonderful Jugendstil villa, I wanted to be photograhped in front of it. On the jutty of another house (the city house) I saw a lot of animal heads, ans guess what, there was even a sheep head! The first evidence that the Coburg people are crazy I found in a garden, there was a sewing machine in the grass! Maybe the will grow until autumn??? Look at the smalles street I´ve ever seen, certainly in Coburg The yellow building was one more crazy. It was a public swimming pool and built 1900!!!! So much culture! We were sooooooooooooo hungry! Hostmum odered a coffee and a chocolate muffin- But she was a little bit slowly. She only git the water Great day in Coburg! Love you and kiss to Berlin! Peaches |

Hello Mummy!
Today we accompanied hostmum to Wuerzburg. While she was at the doctors we explored the city. We looked at the residence and visited its garden. Suddenly I saw a lion and got frightened. Thankfully the brave Wavy Gravy accompanied me and tested the lion. Only made from stone. Puuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Then the sun came out and we rested in the sun in front of a pretty flower bed. It was a exciting day! Many greetings to Berlin! Peaches |

Hey Mummy!
Today we came back from a trip to south germany. Hostmum made sooooo much pics! But here is one of my favorites! The others will follow soon! |
Yosemite Posted Aug 13, 2012, 5:49 pm |
Hello Mummy!
As I promised yesterday I will show you the pics of our trip: On our way to the south we passed the "Fürstenlager", a park with big trees and pretty flowers. First station was the technical museum in SInsheim, where very pretty oldtimers are exposed. Me (and hostmum) liked the big US cars most Outside are even planes exhibited. Even a Concorde! In the afternoon we went to Angelbachtal. There was a medieval market! We watched the boothes and me and Schäfli looked at the booth with the wool. A friendly man helped me to see everything. Then a crazy thin happened! Suddenly two women came around with big whispering bags. We wondered who this will be! It was Zandy and fam-united! They brought their TVs and so we had a coming together! I met my brother Chalon and the famous TV-TV, Cassiopeia and a lot of other TVs! We had to change so much experiences! Then we went across the market. We watched a monk making a chained armour. At the next booth I was confused. A label said: "Sheep fur warms in winter and cooles in summer." Correct, but why are humans interested in it????? We hurried to the knights tournament! What a exciting contest! That was our weekend! Looooooove you, Peaches |

Hello Mummy!
Guess what? We made a hiking trip to the Staffelberg near Lichtenfels. We walked all the way on foot (in hostmum´s backpack ) But when we reached at the rocks we wanted to go in our own. It was very easy to climb for me, rocks are my terrain Finally we reached the top. At first we posed for a picture and then we enjoyed a snack in the tavern on top of the mountain. I had a salted meat and a ice cup for dessert What a great day! |

Hey Mummy!
Today Twixx, one of Hostmum´s TVs came back! He arrived in a spectacular way. We didn´t exactly knew what´s going on when we heard a helicopter above our heads. It landed right between us. We thought about some aliens, but then Twixx came out! We watched together the pictures of his trips and he told us everything about his adventures. Brave little guy! Tomorrow he will continue his journey, he will go to Scotland with Ravyna We met her and her TV Niiskuneiti and wished them a save trip! Love you, Mummy! Peaches |

Today we enjoyed one of the last summer days. We decided to make a picknick in the garden. I helped to prepare yummie sandwiches. At first I made butter on the slices. Then bacon, cucumber and cheese. Hostmum helped to cut it in pieces and then I wrapped each sandwich in foil. we packed a big picknick basket with yummie and needful things and went down to the garden. Really a great day! Hope it wasn´t the last summer day this year! Love you, Peaches |

Hello Mummy!
Today hostmum asked us if we would help her to paint the kitchen. Of course we said yes, this could be a lot of fun! Fimbo started to paint, he was very excited about this colour, he likes everything of extravagant colour But I also painted a big part of the wall and think it looks like very nice! Will we have some green walls at home, too? It´s very relaxing! |
Yosemite Posted Oct 19, 2012, 1:13 pm |
Hello Mummy!
Today we said goodbye to Fimbo_Fimble He is on his way back to his Mum. When we headed back from the postoffice hostmum said we will stop at the new shopping mall. There were a lot of attractions but I decíded to take a ride on a historic merry-go-round. The shop we liked most was the deco store. There we bought a lot of pretty stuff. Just take a look! A funny yoga frog, some christmas tree balls and a lot of dishes in TV size. I think we´ll have a TV dinner soon Many greetings, Peaches |

Hello Mummy!
We made a shopping trip to Bayreuth! Unfortunately the weather was soooo bad, so we only did some indoor entertainment. Look, a pink convertible! I think you will like this I was the driver and brought us to a soccer game. We fighted hard, but Cheerio and Soeren had more luck, so they won. But my time came at the "nine-men´s-morris" in German Mühle... Jethro and me fighted and I built the first line of three Yours, Peaches |

Hey Mummy, Peaches speaking!
Today we made a baking session Hostmum showed us a magazine with a lot of yummie recipes. We decided to make lemon cookies! We needed a lot of ingredients. Flour, sugar, baking soda, an egg and butter. I cut the butter in small pieces. Hostmum kneaded the ingredients until it was a smooth ball. After the dough cooled for one hour we put jelly and marzipane on it. Now it looks like a sweet pizza But this are the very best cookies I´ve ever had! Love you, Peaches |
Yosemite Posted Nov 24, 2012, 8:23 am |
Hello Mummy!
Hostdad is a very good cook, and his most famous meal are Tortellini with cream sauce, bacon and peas. We were not allowed to help today, we were invited for meal! But we sneaked a peek in the pots. Uuuuuuuuuuuuhhhh, looks yummie! We took place on the table and enjoyed our Tortellinis. Mummy, I would like to share them with you, but we ate it all But if you want, I can cook for you, when I am back. I promise! Yours, Peaches |
Yosemite Posted Dec 6, 2012, 4:56 pm |
Hey Mummy!
Today we were allowed to help in the kitchen. Hostmum made yummie christmas cookies! We mixed flour, sugar, butter and eggs in a bowl. Then hostmum kneaded the dough until it got a hard consistence. I cut it into small pieces and hostmum made little croissants. We watched them getting brown in the oven All together we made 4 types of cookies. And guess what? Hostmum allowed me to make a parcel for you! Wait for the postman, Mummy |
Yosemite Posted Dec 14, 2012, 7:27 pm |
Snow, snow, everywhere snow!
The whole day it snowed! We waited patiently at home until hostmum came home and then we asked her if we could go out. And she said yes! We took three old sleighs and went down to the garden. We cued our sleighs up in an line and hostmum wanted to pull us through the garden. But when we saw the perfect sleigh run we had a better idea! We built three teams: Team jo-mlp/mcDaniels on sleigh number 1, me together with Jethro on sleigh number 2, and Team Noisy on sleigh number 3. What a challenge! Baerle made a false start, but it was to late to stop the sleighs. We speeded downhill. yeah, leading position! But then Team 1 countered... no problem, I am better! But then Team 2 overtook us! We gave everything and gained the lead again! Unfortunately Baerle´s team had the better finish and won the race. It must have been their bigger mass!!! Now we are all together drying in the heater |
Yosemite Posted Dec 24, 2012, 4:44 pm |
Dear Mummy, tonight something crazy was going on in the living room. During the night there grew a tree!!!
But hostmum explained that this is no unsual tree, it is our christmas tree! And we are allowed to decorate it together with her! So we choose the most nice christmas balls and hang it on the branches. After we finished we took a short break. And in this moment I got a feeling of holyness... I can´t explain it... But just take a look at our pretty tree! Mummy, I wish you a merry christmas! Your Peaches |

Happy new year, dear Mummy!
We celebrated the New years eve in the garden. Hostdad made a big campfire and hang a pot over it. There he roasted meat and vegetables for a goulash. The whole stuff had to cook 3 hours! During this time we sat together at the fire and talked about the last year and what the new will bring. Yours, Peaches |

I am on my way now! Today I said Goodbye to all my TV fellows and the resident sheep. Now I am very excited about my new host. Hostmum told me it is far, far away and I will have a long travel. But I am a corageous sheep and so I don´t worry! Here I come! See you soon, Peaches |

Hello!
Im writing from the far far lands of Chile! I arrived a week ago, but I only met my hosts Leslie and Pato today because they were away. And guess what, in a few hours we are going to the beach for a few days It was a great idea to come to the south I'll write again in a few days when I'm back from the beach. Kisses! Peaches |
Leslie Posted Apr 18, 2013, 12:59 am |
Hi mum!
After a long time I'm finally writing again, I'm very sorry for not giving any life signals before! In February I helped Leslie move to another city, now we are even southern than before, in a city called Puerto Montt! Pato says that this city is smaller than Temuco, where they lived before, but I never got to see that other city so I can't really know the differences, but if you want to know what Puerto Montt looks like, just keep scrolling down But first I want to show you some photos of a trip we made around a place called Caburgua. These waterfalls are called "Eyes of Caburgua" because someone thought that they look like eyes... but i see three waterfalls that person must have had a lot of imagination. This lagoon is called, surprinsingly, Blue Lagoon It had a very intense blue color and looked so calm and pretty that we were all dying to go swim in there, but sadly it is forbidden. There are some legends about this lagoon being hipnotic and I believe they might be true And now Im going to show you Puerto Montt, the city where Im staying Puerto means port, I learned that when i heard the story of the city, I also learned that it started as a small port long ago and now a big part of it is built on the hills around the water... Those two buildings back there are built over the main mall of the city and they have a beautiful view over the sea You can see here that it's always windy and these flags are always flapping... The white flag with the ship is the flag of Puerto Montt and the other one is the chilean one Here I am standing on a valcony on one of the towers I ust showed you before. I told you they have a very nice view I've heard that spring doesnt want to show up back at home, apparently the nice weather is staying in the south because even though its already autumn here it is still warm and nice most of the days... I hope you liked the photos! Bye bye |
Leslie Posted Apr 24, 2013, 1:31 am |
On the weekend we decided to make a trip to a near city called Frutillar which is some kilometers to the north, so first we frove to a small city called Llanquihue.
In Llanquihue there was a pond with lots of lotuses! But because of the time of the year none had flowers To get to our destination, Frutillar, we had two choices, the high way of a small road through the hills by the side of Llanquihue Lake , so we chose the last option because hills by the lake sounded like a good combination for nice landscapes What an interesting mural And here we reached Llanquihue lake, the sign says that we are at the "swans viewpoint", and no wonder why it has this name... giant black necked swans! And here we started out way through the small road to Frutillar! ♫ I believe I can fly! ♪ ♩ Autumn arrived at this side of the world and you could see yellow and orange leaves everywhere on the ground I really like the colors of autumn! Most of the land around the lake is used in farms, back there very small you can see Osorno volcano We stopped for a while in these gardens, what a beautiful view we had from up here! I found black mushrooms on the ground! Autumn is all around! After driving for a while suddenly these sails appeared next to us, that means we are arriving at Frutillar In 1852 the goverment offered this land to german settlers from Hamburg, so everywhere in this city you can see german heritage, there is german architecture, signs, people and whatnot! I felt very much at home This is the famous Teatro del Lago "theater of the lake", very appropiate name, don't you think so? artists from all around come to perform here Frutillar is a very musical city, almost everything here is either related to germany or to music, there was even a fake piano by the lake! Frutillar is a famous holiday spot for tourists, people from all over the world come to this beach in summer (and not only people but also toyvoyagers) This is the goverment building, and look what i saw here... A sign in german! In the afternoon the weather was a bit strange and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky! I hope you liked the trip photos as much as I liked the trip itself Bye bye! |

Hello mum!
A few days ago we thought of exploring around the undiscovered south, so we got in the car and started driving There are really beautiful green prairies around! After driving for a while we arrived to a small town called Fresia and the first thing we saw there was this church by the road. There was not much to see there, there weren't even people on the streets, a very small and quiet town it was. This seemed to be the main church of the town. Next to it there was a monkey puzzle, the chilean national tree, here called Araucaria As there was not much to see in the town of Fresia, we kept driving on the roads through the country. This seems to be the land of mushrooms! I found one so big and round that almost resembles an ufo! In the middle of nowhere we found this monument standing by the road, it marks the place where the last battle between the spanish and the chileans was, on March 6th, 1820. This is the coat of arms of this place, Fresia. All the trees look beautiful dressed in yellow On the top of a little hill we saw a church So we drove to it, it was beautiful! And next to the church there was a field with deers! This one was very friendly, she even let us pet her Here she's giving me a kiss Behind me you can see two little fawns, they were a little shy to come closer so I could only see them from the distance Oh hello there The ground was full of chestnuts, the deers loved them! Next to the church there was a small cemetery. When the sun started setting we went back to the car and returned to Puerto Montt. And we went to a supermarket where I found "piñones", the seed of Araucarias (monkey puzzle). They're sold as food, the only thing you have to do is boil them and theyre ready to eat It was a very nice day! Bye bye! |
Leslie Posted May 21, 2013, 5:24 pm |
One afternoon we drove to a small fishing village, it was already getting dark when we got there but I could still take a few photos
It was very cold also, so we hurried back into the car and drove back home. Bye bye! |

On the weekend we made a trip to a big island to the south, Chiloé. It was chosen by Natgeo as the 5th most beautiful island in the world so I was very excited to go!
We got on a big ferry to cross the sea for 45 minutes The wind was really freezing on the deck, my red beanie helped a lot And we left the mainland! We arrived at a city called Ancud, its the most northern city of the Chiloé island. This was the view from our hotel room In the main square of Ancud we found this statue, it it the Pincoya, one of the most famous characters of the chilean mithology. The leyend says she is the spirit of fertility and can bring good or bad luck to the people of the island. Here you can read a little of the legend We kept walking through the square... and found 2 big snake statues They are from a legend that says that 2 snakes, a good and an evil one were the ones who formed the chilean terrain. Interesting legend Walking a bit more we found the Trauco. He is probably the most famous character of the chilean mithology. Leslie told me the legend, it says that this creature who is not human lived in the woods of the island and attracts young women and can kill men just by looking at them. Long ago in the past, when the legends were thought to be true, many women who got pregnant used this legend as an excuse and said that the Trauco was the father. This one is The Widow and this is her legend. This one has a very creepy story, he is called Invunche and the legend says that he was kidnapped by witches as a baby and raised in a cave fed with black cat milk and flesh from corpses and his legs were broken and his bones deformed so he can't leave the cave Some legends this place has Around the corner I found another statue, this is the Pincoy, the husband of the Pincoya... and her brother at the same time And another carving showint the Invunche, the one with the creepy legend In front of the main square was the church of the city. It used to be a big old church, but it fell with an earthquake so they built this new one. In a restaurant I saw this painting, it shows the famous "palafitos" of Chiloé, which are houses standing on trunks over the water. After lunch we walked around the city... and got to a fortress from 1770 that was used by the spanish back then in the times of the conquest. I learned that this city was the last city in Chile occupied by the spanish, here stood the last spanish flag in Chile in 1826. There stands the name of the city, Ancud After staying in the fortress for while we kept walkind around the city... We walked through the promenade, it was nice... In a square we found a little festival and there were police students singing, it was a very inusual show! Then we watched the sunset and went back to the hotel. The day was very nice and I liked this city and most of all the interesting legends and statues! I hope you liked them too. Bye bye Peaches |
Leslie Posted Jun 16, 2013, 6:29 am |
Hello everyone!
So, following the story from my last update... The next day at the hotel we found this figure of the old main church that fell down during an earthquake, it must have been very beautiful to see! After breakfast we went to the backyard, there was a thick fog but the view still loooked beautiful! Later we would take a bus to go to another city, Castro, so I took a look at a few maps to see where it is In the north of the map you can see Castro, the city where we were. While we waited for out bus at the bus station we found these paintings showing the local mithology, you can see the characters that I told you about! And there was another one About one hour later we arrived to Castro, the first thing we did was walk to the main square where one of the famous Chiloé UNESCO chuches is And this is it! The UNESCO church of Castro In the square there was a fountain with a statue of the Pincoya, do you remember her? the spirit of fertility. Then we ate at a "Palafito" restaurant. Palafitos are these type of constructions standing on water, they are very famous in Chiloé! And then we took our bus back to Puerto Montt. On the drive we passed in front of the most famous Palafitos of Chiloé, in fact, if you google "Chiloé" you're probably going to see these very same palafitos Then it was time to cross on the ferry back to the mainland, so we waited while looking at the nice sunset colors The wind was very strong and very very cold, but that didn't keep us inside the bus In the horizon you can see the mainland waiting for us! Bye bye Chiloé! Peaches |

Hello everybody!
Today I met the new pets of the house, little fluffy cute animals that will live with us from now on These are McGregor and Onix, a couple of lovely guinea pigs He didn't mind me riding on his back, but little Onix was a little shier and didn't seem very interested in a Sheep-Pig friendship But she's very cute anyway And this ball of fur is called Gandalf, Gandalf the White He is very friendly and playful, although his hugs might hurt a little bit, ouch! They are all very cute, aren't they? Yours, Peaches |

Hi mummy!
Winter is here since a few days ago and Leslie's face has a smile from one ear to the other because her winter holidays just started today, so it's going to be almost one month without those ugly books that keep us at home so often This weekend the weather was wonderful and we spent it in a hut by the shore of Lake Llanquihue. Wow what a beautiful place! That tree behind me is called arrayán and it blooms a little white flower in spring, very nice, i was told Right outside our hut we had this private beach just for us How tropical! huhu But dont let the shining sun fool you, it wasn't as warm as it might look And this was the view from our window, hmm not bad, not bad at all It seems like hey knew i was coming and got me a good sized boat to sail the lake, woohoo I can't wait! The stairs were a little bit scary, i dont want to climb them at night half asleep And this was the view from my bedroom... What a nice place! Later on saturday a slight rain started, and this beautiful rainbow appeared over our heads And we could see its base! But there was no leprechaun or pot of gold... but there was a yacht and a nice summerhouse, so i guess that's not bad either I really liked it here, if you ever come, this is the place to stay bye bye! Hola a todos!
I still see that Leslie is in holidays so today I asked her why not go visit her hometown Temuco that I never had the chance to see before, and she said why not? So 4 hours later we were here, in Temuco This is the main square of the city, nice palm trees I read that this monument shows spanish conquerors and aborigins, called Mapuches Here you can see both of them, an aborigin with his seeds and a conqueror with guns It looks like a firework! The rest of the trees were naked, proving that its mid winter here, because the sky today looked totally beautiful like in a nice summer day And after the main square we went to the main mall of the city Nice nice, same as our day, which ended here, in this little café. Hope you liked it too Bye bye! |

We drove back to Puerto Montt and on the way we saw some interesting things, like this sign that shows how many fatal accidents have there been in the last month, in this case, 0
Or this sign that reminds us to be careful 120km/h is the maximum speed allowed on highways here. During the 4 hrs drive I sat in this priviledged seat with the best view Puerto Montt ahead! One hour away, we made a stop to watch the sunset which was very nice Then we arrived safe and sound. Good bye! |

Hi all!
Winter is slowly starting to leave us, giving way to the beautiful spring to come! Some days we even saw the blue sky above us and that was very very nice! It's still not warm, but not as cold as before either This long long gravel road leads to a beautiful lake, Lake Chapo After a curve the mighty mointain range appeared in front of us! And on the way we passed next to the biggest Fitzroya trunk found in the area! Its huge! can you see me? Im there! We also passed next to an abandoned old house Here we are already in the outskirts of the mountain range so it snows all winter The shadow was very cold, there was still frost and some snow on the ground... And after driving some more through the gravel road we arrived, this is the Lake Chapo! Next to the lake there was a Fitzroya forest thousands of years ago, but the lake grew bigger and inundated them, so they died. Hundreds of years later the lake moved back again and the tree trunks remain there eversince. This is almost like a window to the past Here's a whole trunk, very very long, must have been a majestic tree once! What a beautiful place, very peaceful... you can even feel the spirit of the trees watching you I loved it! Yours, Peaches |

Hello my dear people and fellow toyvoyagers!
I've been enjoying the landscapes around now that spring arrived and the temperatures are raising and the clouds and rain are leaving us. At least for the past few days I havent been cold and the sun has been shining over my head in its nice clear blue sky, which gives way to the volcanoes view from pretty much all parts of the city! Very very nice. We made a trip driving around the biggest lake of the area, Lake Llanquihue, which is at the side of Osorno volcano. To the other side of the car we also saw Calbuco vocano When driving high near the volcano we made a stop at a viewpoint and there was a fox sitting there! This kind of fox is called Culpeo and lives in mountains, prairies and forests of the west area of South America. He wasn't as shy as we would have expected, and let us get quite close to him Behind me: fox and Calbuco volcano From that viewpoint we had a beautiful view over the volcano outskirts. Back there behind the tress you can see the lake Llanquihue And to the other side, the volcano whose outskirts we were at, the Osorno volcano Then we drove a little more around the lake and reached another viewpoint with a similar view to the last one... but two views can never be the same so I wanted to get my photo taken here anyway Then we kept driving more and saw another beautiful thing, this mother and her baby horse How lovely. And in the end off the trip we arrived to this waterfall in the outskirts of the volcano. The shadow was so cold that there was still some frost around even though the sun was shining next to it! After that we drove back home to Puerto Montt through the same road. And right now, after I finish writing this, we are going out again because the sun shines shines Good bye! |

Hi all!
We spent a beautiful weekend in the fishing village of Queule, by the Pacific Ocean. When we arrived we went to visit someone who lives at the top of the highest village, so the view from there was very nice! The weather was not so nice, but as the hours went by, so did the clouds We took a walk a bit higher on the hill, which by the way isn't just a random hill, it's the Chilean Coast Range. Then when we went to our summerhouse there was a gang of stray cats waiting for us in the garden The rain was very strong in the horizon! But a while later the storm left us again The next day in the morning we took a walk around the town We climbed a hill to a view point where we could see the beaches And then back at home we cooked empanadas, the chilean national food. What a nice weekend Bye bye! |

Hola a todos!
The weather has been beautiful, mild temperatures and soft breezes, so we decided it was a perfect for sailing! We headed to the port area of the city and started looking for someone to take us to the sea... First we found these big boats but they were to transport residents of an island back home... So we had to keep searching. Down in that little dock there were some boats, so we went to ask And success! They said yes, so we got on a boat and started sailing! First we went between the mainland and an island. Back there you can see Chinquihue Staduim, it is the most southern professional stadium in the world. And a warship back there as well. Here we reached the sea, it's a gulf but we weren't between the island and the mainland anymore so the waves got bigger. The boat moved up and down and also to the sides and it felt great! Now back there you can see the city again. This is where we started returning around the island that we first were sailing behind of. Island Tenglo. When we reached the port area again, we saw these big machines to load the exportation ships, and also big ships. And when we were back again in the land, we went to a market to buy some seafood, look at this variety! And in the end of the day we walked through a famous craftmarket called Angelmó. It was a great day! I loved the sea and the waves |

Hello all!
I heard that there were archaeological excavations in a city near Puerto Montt where they found fossils of different animals from the ice age. So I suggested that we could make a trip there and Leslie agreed! So here we go! After more than one hour traveling we arrived to the city of Osorno. This is the main square of the city. The coat of arms of the city was drawn on the ground. What a beautiful cathedral! Look at this street... looks real, doesn't it? Well, it's actually inside of a shopping center! The fake sky almost fooled me And finally we went to the park I was waiting for, here they have statues of the extinct animals whose fossils have been found around. These are Gomphotheres, family of the mamooths who lived here until 10,000 years ago. And this is a Milodon. A herbivore mammal from the pleistocene as well who also got extict around 10,000 years ago. Bye bye! |

This day wasn't so nice in the morning, but as the hours went by the clouds flew away and we saw the blue blue sky.
But enough weather talking, let me tell you about this trip We woke up early early and went to the island of Chiloé. The first place we visited in there was the Fortress Agüi, built by the spanish to fight the pirates back in 1779. See how I'm learning? After visiting the fortress we headed to Puñihuil, a beach with Natural Monument declared islands This is it, what a nice view! I mentioned that these islands are a Natural Monument... and you might be wondering why, so let me tell you. It's because here penguins and many other species come to mate! And of course, there are tours to sail around the islands, so we took one Can you see the little white/black points behind me? Well, they're the penguins. There are also many of them up there on the grass, but they're tiny! There you can see some. Sadly the little penguins weren't as photogenic as I am so we couldn't get any great shot of them, but hey! At least I saw them! It was a very nice day! Love from Chile Stripes |

Hohoho!
Today we went out for the last christmas shopping, the sun was hot so we needed lots of sunscreen! In the bus station they had this big nice tree After shopping we took a walk by the promenade, but the sun was very strong so it wasn't long. There we saw a cruise visiting. And before going back home we took a walk around these old trains exposition And then we arrived home to celebrate christmas! Merry Christmas everyone! |

We made a trip to a little village called Caleta La Arena.
Here we took a ferry to sail 45 minutes south, back there you can see the Andes mountain range. After the 45 minutes we arrived to a little beach and walked there. And then we sailed back. Bye bye! |

We used this nice sunny weekend to escape the city and headed to a beach that is around 1.5hr away from home, Hueñalihuen beach, what a tongue twister!
After driving through small roads leading west, we found the beach! Its nice and very lonely, I enjoy lonely beaches much more than crowded ones! Look at these things! I tried talking to these sheep fellows saying "bääääh bäääh" only to learn that spanish speaking sheeps say "meeeh meeeh" instead! We spent the night at the beach, next day photos yet to come Bye bye! |

Our second day in the beach we went for a walk. The wind was a little cold but walking we warmed up.
The rocks in this beach are unique, most of them perfectly oval shaped and either black or of exotic colors like red, yellow, green, pink or mixes of all of them! Look at the ones Frog -Leslie's travel partner- picked up! Don't you think this rook looks like a side face?? Im Peaches the brave I crossed a river with no help By the end of our walk the day turned grey and the wind chilly! Back at our camping place some pigs came to visit Aaaaaaand another day ended |

After the last day in Hueñalihuen we decided to explore some other nearby beaches. For that first we had to go up the coastal mountain range.
That beach down there is called "casa piedra" (stone house). And the road to get there, as you can see, is very small! After Casa Piedra we headed to another beach, so up the coastal mountain range again. This is Coi-Coi, what a cute name for a beach Sadly the fog covered the sky. But it was anyway a very nice day! Greetings! |
