mmm105 Posted Jun 12, 2012, 7:41 pm	Hello all! My name is Kurnau. I'm a small cat. I'm living in Finland with my mommy mmm105. I'm a "stay at home" toy. I won't go travelling without my mommy. But I would like to invite you all to visit our home, to see my hometown Jyväskylä, and to spend (hopefully) great time with me. I would like to get all of you to be my guests. I try to enjoy my life as a ToyVoyager, and especially as a ToyVoyager host. I like to meet and get to know other ToyVoyagers, and maybe help some of them for completing life missions. They are (back) Telie from Luxembourg, Ronja from Germany, TobiHH from Germany, PinkLady from The Netherlands, Erol the Pirat from Germany, (front) B.o.B. from Germany, Wayne from Germany, Mo from Poland, BarryO from USA and Kit-Kat from Germany. When we have tolked to each other and already got to know better, we went to outside. There I plowed some magical bubbles. They were soap bubbles! Kurnau

mmm105 Posted Jun 17, 2012, 6:54 pm	Hei! I went to visit in place called Viherlandia today. It's a place, where are selling lots of different flowers and other plants, and other things needed in gardening. There's also a cafe. I went to this place, because there was a postcrossing meeting there. But first, I saw something really great: two living parrots, Kalle and Torsti! Here is me and the other parrot. After meeting parrots, we went to cafe. And because I was very hungry, I ate a panini. It was so good, that others came to eat it, too... And for dessert, I ate a piece of cheese cake. Yummy!  Then I took part in a postcrossing meeting. And guess what?!? There I met two new ToyVoyagers: A teddybear and a horse (they were with another Finnish host Delenna there). Here are we all: Postcrossers are so crazy, they allways write so MANY postcards!!! After the postcrossing meeting, I went to look around. I wanted to see, what kind of place it is. I found many nice things there. We were riding a bike there!!! Yippee!!!  And we saw the flowers were riding a bikes, too!!!    hih  I met some gnomes, too. mmm105 Posted Jun 22, 2012, 11:11 pm	Hei! It’s juhannusaatto (Midsummer’s Eve) today. I saw something really exited thing: juhannuskokko (a Midsummer bonfire)! It was so cool. Here are some info about Midsummer celebrations in Finland: "In the Finnish midsummer celebration rituals include bonfires, cookouts, a sauna and spending time together. Bonfires are very common and are burnt at lakesides and by the sea. In folk magic, midsummer is a very potent night and the time for many small rituals, mostly for young maidens seeking suitors and fertility. An important feature of the midsummer in Finland is the white night and the midnight sun. Because of Finland's location spanning around the Arctic Circle the nights near the midsummer day are short or non-existent (in Lappland there’s several days when sun doesn’t set at all). This gives a great contrast to the darkness of the winter time." All these photos have been taken just 1-2 hours before midnight, and there is still not dark at all!!! Kurnau

It was so nice to meet them all again, and hear their stories about Spain. And today 3 new ToyVoyagers arrive to visit here. And guess what?!? They all are sheeps! So funny coinsidence!  New toys are Lina, and Mr. and Mrs. Honeymooners. We all said welcome to them, and then we had a welcome party. It was nice! Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Jul 13, 2012, 12:39 pm	Hei! An envelope arrived today. We all were so curious, what would be inside of it. I opened it, and others were looking. We were sooooo curious! A secret envelope from China... Oooooh, it's another ToyVoyager! It's Totoro from China! It's great to have more friends! Welcome to Finland!  Later today I showed the local library building to all. Here I am with Totoro. I helped others to find some nice books. mmm105 Posted Jul 15, 2012, 10:09 pm	Hei! Today I was showing some public art works to all my guests. It started raining soon, so we had to come back inside quite soon. But all art were great! This one is "Karhu" ("A Bear"). The artist's name is Oskari Raja-aho, and the statue has made in the year 1930. Look, we all are riding on the bear!  This one is called as "Elämän koulu - vastuu, luottamus, luovuus" In English it might be something like "A school of life - responsibility, trust, creativity" And there's a statue "Kauppias ja apulainen" ("A Merchant and his assistant). The artist is Pauli Koskinen, and it has made in 1959. Kurnau

Wow, so far. "Hello! My name is Phog. I'm from Germany, but I was visiting in South Africa." said this cute dog to us. We introduced ourselves, too. mmm105 Posted Jul 22, 2012, 3:00 pm	Hei! Today I showed the green nature outside to all my toy guests.  There's a river named Tourujoki. This river goes through the city of Jyväskylä. It's about 2 kilometres long river, and it goes from the lake Palokkajärvi to the lake Jyväsjärvi. And there's a bridge of Tourujoki. Here are we all toys: Lina, me, Wayne, Totoro, Honeymooners, Hunny, Phog, Kit-Kat, Ronja, BarryO, TobiHH and Druri. There's a small natural park just next to the river Tourujoki. We went to visit there, too. It's a nature conservation area in the middle of Jyväskylä. At first, we needed to go down to the long wooden old stairs. I showed the way to others. Look, how beautiful nature there is! Then we saw some weird things in the tree. They are "kääpä" in Finnish, they are some kind of mushrooms growing in old trees.  It's time to have a little brake, and just relax. Then it's time to walk forward. We walk on the "pitkospuut", the wooden path on the ground. There must be this wooden path, because the ground is so wet. It was a nice place, this small natural park! Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Jul 22, 2012, 3:14 pm	Hei! Today I visited with my guests in the Craft Museum of Finland. Due to water damage, there were only small exhibitions of different things. There's some National Costumes of Karelian in the first picture. And in the second picture there's my favourite work, just because it's so colourful! On the floor there's many tiny marbles there. And in the wall there's a lot chrocheting hotpads. All together it looks nice, right? Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Jul 22, 2012, 3:39 pm	Hei! I organized an adventure to my tiny sized toy guests. We went into mommy's bag and we were hiding there. Why we did so? Well, mommy is a nurse in profession, and I decided that all tiny sized toy guests could visit in mommy's workplace. Offcourse without mommy knows anything about it, hih. Mommy had a night shift, so our toys very important task to do was keep a company to her and helped her to stay awake hole night long. In the hospital we met some new friends: mascots of the mommy's workplace. We toys had so much fun together! This place was really exiting! There were lots of medicines in that room!!! We found a stethoscope, and we listened our sounds of hearts. It was fun! Then we drove the hallways with a wheelchaire. It was so fun adventure!  Kurnau

mmm105 Posted Jul 26, 2012, 6:58 pm	Hei! Today I took all my guests with me outside for a walk. We visited in "kirkkopuisto" (a church park) and in "satama" (the harbour of Jyväskylä). We saw some great things there! The church of Jyväskylä has buildt in 1880, and the architect was L. I. Linqvist. Isn't it a great looking church? In the church park there's also a statue of Minna Canth (1844-1897). She was a famous Finnish writer and social activist. Her works addresses issues of women's rights. There was also another statue in the church park. I don't know the name of the statue, but it's beautiful. And all the flowers around it are beautiful, too. mmm105 Posted Jul 30, 2012, 2:57 pm	Hei ! Today I visited the place called Harju. I took my guests with me. We climbed up the long stairs of Harju, and we noticed beautiful flowers just next to the stairs. I also visited in the viewing tower to see great views, and in the Natural History Museum (visiting a museum was one of my guest's life mission thing). There I saw many animals and informations about stone materials and Finnish nature. Kurnau

mmm105 Posted Aug 3, 2012, 7:28 pm	Hei! We all toys visited in Korpilahti today, because there was a postcrossing meeting there. Another host (Fendi) was there, too, and offcourse with all her toys and toy-guests (PieksiHH, Nils and Kitsune). There we had such a great time. We were eating some snacks, made coffee, played hide and seek (it wasn't a succeed, because the most of us were hiding under the classes!), and we helped writing and mailing postcards. But the best thing was that Ronja met her brother Nils there, and they both fullfill one of their life missions!!! hide and seek -play: After postcrossing meeting we went too see outside. We wanted to take a look this place, Korpilahti. We visited in the harbour. There happened really fun thing! hih!    I was so embarrased, I gave an interview to the ice cream!!! Others couldn't stop laughing...  Then some wild ducks came to swim in the harbour! And then we found this little fountain there. And the old car behind it looks cool, isn't it?  This building is quite unique looking, I think. And there are we toys, with mommy. Then we found a playground, and we had some great time there!!! Look, we are sailing! And offcourse we climbed! It was really fun day!!! Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Aug 3, 2012, 7:34 pm	Hei! Today morning one of my guest left, but in the afternoon we got more company again because a new toy arrived. Totoro. left here today. He goes to USA to his new host. We said goodbye to him, and wished a safe and confortable journey. And then the new toy Cody Otter beaver arrived here. He told very interesting stories about his travels. He has a travel memories notebook with him, and he showed it to us. It was nice! Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Aug 7, 2012, 8:23 pm	Hei! There has been so bad weather outside lately, raining etc... that we toys had to do something inside. So, I decided to show them the Finnish food: Karelian pie. All my guests liked it. Then we had a Tea Party. It was really fun! So nice to spend some time all together and have a small talk and laugh and so on. I'm happy, because I helped Hunny to fullfill one of her life mission. After the Tea Party I had to say goodbye to Suomi-girl, who is going to visit Germany, and Suomi-boy and BarryO both are going to USA to visit BarryO's home. I wish they all will have a safe journey. mmm105 Posted Aug 8, 2012, 10:56 am	Hei! It's raining outside also today, so we need to do something inside... I had to think a lot, but then I had an idea what we could do. We played a violin!!! And it was really fun! After this music moment, we had to say goodbye to Rico the Tiger, because his journey continue. He goes to Spain. We gave him a group hug, too. I hope his journey will be safe. Rico's visit was so short, but I really hope he enjoyed his time while being here in Finland. Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Aug 10, 2012, 9:23 pm	Hei! Finally it has stopped raining outside, and we could go for a little walk there. We stopped to this park, because we wanted to take a group photo. Very near was a playground. And offcourse we went there!  First everyone wanted to sit on this bird. So fun! Then little bit swinging... ...and sliding! WIIHIIIII!!!! It was fun! So FUN! On the way back home we climbed in the tree. And at a late night we visited to the lake, and saw such a beautiful sunset there. It was so relaxing to watch it. It was such a nice day! I hope my guests liked it as much as I did. Kurnau

Oh, summer will be over soon, and autumn is coming... I think this musroom is big. Are you agree? In the evening we toys were able to go with mommy to visit her friend. Yes, we all were there. There was a Tupperware home party there. I met many nice other people there, and we made some smoothies (and drank them) and some croissants, too (and offcourse we ate them, too). It was nice!

We went to see the monitoimitalo (it's a building like a sport center), and especially the human pictures on the wall of that building. I think those pictures are so great, and I really wanted to share them with all my guests. I went outside and I took photos. I saw kids playing football, and I decided to took a photo of them... Then I walked forward, and I showed a field to my guests. mmm105 Posted Aug 23, 2012, 10:50 am	Hei! Today I had a great day. We all went to visit in the city named Äänekoski. It's located quite near of Jyväskylä, just little bit North.  We found a magical little shop named Pompom. The owner of the shop was really nice, and she aloud us to sit on the hammock! It was so fun!  And funny thing was that the owner of the shop was fall in love with Wayne-cincerbreadman!!! So funny!!! It was love in the first sight. We found other interesting things from there. Look, this is an antique bed full of different coloured strings!  What do you think about this chair? Is it very colourful? Do you think there's all colours of the rainbow in the chair? Oh, and the best part visiting in the shop was meeting other toys there. They were very nice, and together we had so fun time. They were interested about travelling... who knows, if they will be a ToyVoyagers someday...  After shopping we ordered some pizzas and then we went to another building, and there we took part in the postcrossing meeting!!! It was so fun!  It was really nice day! Kurnau

More info you can find here: http://valonkaupunki.jyvaskyla.fi/english So, the hole day we only waited the night. We wanted to see some beautiful lights of this city. But because there's so many of them, we only visited some. Can you believe there's more than 70 illuminated sites to admire in Jyväskylä? At first, we went to see the bridge of Kuokkala. And then we visited in the harbour. And before going back home, we visited the Church Park. Kurnau

mmm105 Posted Aug 25, 2012, 6:03 pm	Hei! Some of my guests read a local newspaper, and there were an article about Torsti and Kalle, two talking parrots. And because I know these parrots are in Jyväskylä, I decided to organized that my guests could meet these famous parrots.  So, today me, Sausi Karl, Flowipowi, Cody Otter, Phog, Lina, Hunny and Ranja Dragon went to the place called Viherlandia. (I can happily say that Ronja, Wayne and Kit-Kat have already been there earlier!). This place is like a garden centre, the perfect place to find for example flowers, plants, stone product, garden supplies, interior decorating products etc.  Are you agree that this place looks like a jungle?  Let me introduce... Kalle.... No, it's Torsti... No, I mean Kalle...  Well, I don't know, which one this is...    But anyway, this parrot said: "Terve! Mitä kuuluu?" (it means: "Hello! How are you?") So funny talking parrot!!! It was a nice day. All beautiful flowers, happy smiles in my guests' faces, and so on... Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Aug 29, 2012, 9:39 am	Hei! Today arrived two toys here: Alberto monkey from Spain, and Nyankororin cat from Japan. Alberto has a T-shirt with him, and we all wanted to try it on. It was little too big, so it looked hilarious, and we laughed so much!!!  Nyankororin's one life mission got completed, because she wanted to visit Finland. So, in the same time one part of my life mission fullfilled, too (help 10 TVs to complete their life missions). And also another part of another life mission of mine fullfilled, because Nyankororin is my second TV cat visitor. Wow!!! So many life missions got nearer to be completed in total!!!  We had a welcome party! I put a music on. I was our DJ. And then we dance...  ...and dance... ...and dance even more... ...untill we got tired. It was really fun! And guess what? Another my guest just got her life mission completed. Ranja Dragon wanted to have a party with other 5 ToyVoyagers. Well, we have more than 5, but the party was really fun! And again I was helping to fullfill my guest's life mission. We gave to her all what she needs to feel better: our company, hot chocolate, fever termometer, handkerchiefs, medicines, throat pastilles, remote control for television... etc. Kurnau

Lucky guests, who were there with me, were Alberto, Matsya, Gwen Jolie and little Sunny. We all had such a fun time! My mommy, mmm105, is very active in postcrossing hobby, and there's so often meetings, that I'm 100% for sure that other guests of mine could take part in the postcrossing meeting later, too (if they haven't been there already). mmm105 Posted Oct 21, 2012, 5:06 pm	Hei! I visited to see the oldest building of Jyväskylä. All my guests were there, too. The building called as Taavettilan riihi, which is in English the drying barn of Taavettila. The building has buildt somewhere in 1700's, the exact year is unknown. First, building used as a drying barn, but somewhere in 1800's it became usual barn/cabin and it got windows then. In 1900's the building started to be a cabin museum. Kurnau

It's the first snow!!!  Winter is just around the corner... Temperature has been about -3 degrees Celcius the hole day. We all went outside to see the snow. Brrrrrrrr, it's cold! Ooooops! What just happened?!?    Some snow fall on us! Hih... it was only fun!  Kurnau

It was little bit sad, but at the same time I'm happy, because now they will see new places and experience new things. Lina sheep will go to Germany to visit her new host there. Kit-Kat will go back home to Germany. Ranja Dragon will go back home to germany, too. Matsya bear will go to Japan to visit her new host there. Hunny bunny will go back home to USA. I wish they all to have safe travel. Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Nov 4, 2012, 10:22 pm	Hei! This weekend we are visiting mmm105's parents in Northern Karelia in a small village named Ilomantsi. It's located about 320 kilometres away from Jyväskylä. After 4 hours of sitting in the car, I was quite tired, and I needed to relax. And then I had an idea. I took all my guests with me, and we went to sauna. It was very relaxing! Here's me, and my guests Batty, Cody Otter, Nyankororin, Bussi, Alberto, little Sunny, Leila, Gwen Jolie, Flowipowi and Phog. And I met saunatonttu (= elf of the sauna) there!!! Kurnau
mmm105 Posted Nov 4, 2012, 10:35 pm	Hei! Today I showed the coat of arms of Ilomantsi to others. I told there's three instruments named kantele in the picture of it. And I asked if they want to try to play kantele, the national instrument of Finland. They all were exited about it. First, I showed them, how to play it... ...and then we all played together. It was fun! Then we found all medals of mmm105. Offcourse we all wanted to see them better, so we went closer. I'm here!!! And then we found such a great little house. It was nice day! Kurnau

But we had lots of fun inside!  Today we baked some cookies. Yummy!  We made cookies with shape of bunny. Now they are ready! It's time to enjoy!!!  Kurnau

mmm105 Posted Nov 28, 2012, 8:34 pm	Hei! It was nice weather outside today (-4C and snowing lightly). So I was walking outside with my guests. They was surprised how quickly it's dark outside. I told them about kaamos (the Polar night). We visited in Harju Ridge, just because the building looks so nice with all the lights on it. Here I am with Bussi. ...and with little Sunny ...and with Nyankororin BOOOOO! This tree looks little spooky...  And here are we all together: little Sunny, me, Nyankororin, Bussi and Phog. We are sitting very near of the city center. In the place called Kirkkopuisto (a church park) there's a big Christmas tree. It's very beautiful with all those lights and a star. But I think the most beautiful thing is this big star. And my guests were so surprised, when I told that "the star" on the ground is a big compass! Yes, it's true!!! The longest arrow on it shows to the North. Isn't it cool? Kurnau

But even though there was a cold day, we all toys (me and little Sunny, Phog, Nyankororin, Bussi, Misslucy) went outside, but we couldn't be there long time, only some minutes. It was freezing! There was a program about "Linnanjuhlat" (a big celebration, where the president of Finland and many important Finns celebrate the Independence Day). It was fun! Kurnau

We decorated the Christmas tree, eat good Christmas food and porridge and desserts, go to the Christmas sauna, go to the Christmas church, meet the Santa Claus... etc... mmm105 Posted Feb 17, 2013, 8:30 pm	Hei! Today is laskiaistiistai, so we all baked some laskiaispulla. Laskiaistiistai or in English Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Tuesday and Pancake Day) is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Shrove Tuesday is determined by Easter; its date changes annually. In Finland the day is called laskiainen and is generally celebrated by eating green pea soup and a pastry called laskiaispulla (sweet bread filled with whipped cream and jam or almond paste). The celebration often includes sledging. Here you can see photos about we are baking the laskiaispulla. First we mixed together some warm milk, eggs and put little bit cardamom there. And then we add some sugar, butter and other spices. ...and ofcourse some wheat flavor. Mixed them well together. Now it's time to wait little bit... ...and after waiting some time, it has increased by itself!!!  We made some big balls (these are going to be sweet pastries), and put some egg and sugar on them. After having them in the oven, they were almost ready. We cut them in two pieces, and put some jam there... ...and then we put some whipped cream there, too. Yummy!  Now they are ready, and we can eat them, and just enjoy!  Sooooooo good!!! Kurnau
