lazyfairy Posted Apr 15, 2012, 12:52 am	Hello! Today the weather was nice!  The sun was out and so warm!  I visited Hidden Falls Park for a walk in the forest. I just HAD to climb this tree and smell these cherry blossoms! Hidden Falls was beautiful! After all the hiking, we walked down to the beach.  This is the Mississippi River.  It was too cold to go swimming, but I had fun watching the boats. Being an artist, I love finding art.  This is an untitled sculpture by Salah Hammad.  We found it along the walking paths near the park. I am also very excited to announce that I will begin my journey soon.  In just two days I will be on my way to Germany! Good Night!

Shilo Posted May 10, 2012, 7:56 pm	Hello Mum! It took a while, but finally I arrived in Bochum. When host mum, took my envelope into the living room, I was very curious who will be there, to welcome me. Then the envelope was opened. I couldn’t wait to come out of it. But ups, it was opened on the wrong side, so my feet went out first. When I sat up I could see two other TV’s.  I was welcomed by Snowball and Freddi. They hugged me and asked me about my long trip. After that I gave them the chocolate I brought with me. They were really happy about it. Because I was so long into this small envelope, we decided to go outside and play a bit on the playground near the house. Freddi and I tried to pull Snowball up to us, but it was too heavy for us. We climbed everywhere around, every time another one of us was faster than the others. After that we were a little bit tired and went onto the swing. It made a lot of fun, but then we were a little bit too fast and so we…… You don’t have to worry, we were fine. But after that we went onto the seesaw. It was a great day but now I am very tired, so we went to bed. Love you Mum
Shilo Posted May 19, 2012, 12:28 am	Hello Mum. Today a new TV arrived. Her name is Lorca and she is coming from England. She told us, that this is her first trip. I think we will have a lot of fun together. We hugged her to welcome her here in Germany. Then Lorca showed us the Sweets and the Card she brought. The sweets look really yummy, so we decided to share them later. After that we took a new group picture together.
Shilo Posted May 21, 2012, 4:03 pm	Hi Mum. Today the weather was so good, that Snowball went with us to the Kemnader Lake, to play miniature golf. The club was is really heavy, but I made it to hit the ball. I hope the ball will roll into the hole The different obstacles were funny and it made a lot of fun to play on them. Freddi and I liked this obstacle the most, because we could slide on it In the evening we played a game named Talisman. It is a very easy game, because you only have to roll a dice and do what was standing onto the board. These are the cards for magic spells and for monsters Snowball got horns on her head  Hey mum I am a rhino I played a thief I was bewitched and now I am a frog  Oh no… we lost… and Lorca had won the game Now it is time, to go to bed. Shilo Posted May 23, 2012, 10:09 pm	Good morning Mum! Today Snowball went with us to Gelsenkirchen, to visit the Zoom. The Zoom is a giant zoo with a lot of interesting animals. When we entered the zoo, we had to choose which way to go first. We could choose between the Africa world, the Asian world and the Canadian world. We decided to visit the Asian world first. This is the compound from the red panda. Can you see the two behind me? Unfortunately they didn’t want to show their heads, to take nicer photos. Here we are playing in is a small hut, that was built on the water in front of the orangutan compound. Can you see the fruit bat over there? It is sleeping but it looks a little bit scary to me, because it is so huge. This is a wonderful old hand truck We took a break before we went to the African world This gorilla is sitting in front of the entrance to the African world. I’ve found the zebras. They were sharing the compound with the antelopes Wow the throat of these giraffe is so long. Here you can see two African huts. Sadly we couldn’t go inside With these boats you could drive on a small river that was floating around the baboon compound, the flamingos and the compound of the ostrich’s. Unfortunately the line was too long, so we didn’t take a boat. Wow these hippos are really big These lemurs were really cool. They were running around on a small island here. But I was a little bit too scared to touch them. Before we went on to the Canadian world, we took another short break Now we are entering Alaska These moose had really long legs Here you could see an old school bus that was standing around here. We meet a really friendly bear here and took a photo with him Wow reindeers, do you think they will bring me presents this Christmas? Lorca and I were playing around in a small wood hut. Shilo Posted May 30, 2012, 11:39 pm	Hello Mum! Today a package arrived. Shilo brought it to us into the living room. We were very curious who will be inside. Lorca took a scissor to open it. When the box was opened, we saw a little rabbit. His name is Hoppsi and he is coming from Berlin. We made a poster to welcome him here in Bochum. Hoppsi brought a suitcase with him and we were really curious what was inside, so he showed us. After that Shilo brought an interesting looking plushy ball to us. We were wondering what it will be, and when Hoppsi touched it…. It opens and we could see a cute little hedgehog His name is Knöpfchen and soon he will be a TV too. Now that we were all together, we took a new group picture. After that Snowball took out a game called “rabbit and hedgehog”. Because we were two hedgehogs and one rabbit, she thought it could be fun to play it. First we had to arrange the game Knöpfchen was the one who started the game When it was my turn, I gave 6 carrots to go 3 steps. I arrived at the first rabbit field. So I had to take a rabbit card Oh no, I had to fall back one position Yeah I am on the first position at the moment On this field I could give away one of my salad cards Oh no, I was so good but Lorca had won the game. Shilo Posted Jun 3, 2012, 1:35 am	Hello Mum! Today we went to friends from my host parents. They also joint Toyvoyagers and we wanted to meet their TVs and watch the Eurovision Song contest together. We meet Imodra Dragon, her tree kids Ranja, Spikey and Little, Cosy and Zeitgeist. Here you could see a group picture from us all together. Before the Song Contest started, we made some flags for all the countries that were participating in the contest. When we were finished, we all sat down to watch the contest. I am for the Candidate from Iceland We made our own ranking for the countries. At the moment I think the Swedish candidate was the best and Iceland could make the 4th place Watching the contest and cheer for the candidates made me really thirsty The Swedish candidate won the contest and the candidate from Iceland made the 20th place It was a funny evening, especially the meeting with the other TVs. Shilo Posted Jun 6, 2012, 6:33 pm	Hi Mum! Today was very exciting, because we went to the Movie Park in Bottrop. It is a very cool amusement park.  Here you can see me in front of the entrance. The “Bermuda Triangle-Alien Encounter” is a very cool water ride. But the Aliens made awful noises. Everywhere on the streets we saw cool cars. Some of them were really old and others looked like they came right out of an action movie. Riding this chairoplane made a lot of fun “Time Riders” was cool, it is a flight simulator It was so hot today, that we made a short break and bought a slush. It was really tasty. When I looked around on the streets of New York, I saw this wonderful poster. Isn’t it nice? In the background you could see the “Avatar Air glider” and the “Ghost chasers”. It made fun, riding on them, but I think the Air glider is better. Before we went home, we watched a Show called “Back to the movies”. At this show they played a lot of cool film themes and danced to them. It was a great day. And Shilo told us, that when the weather is good, we will visit the “Heidepark” in Soltau in two weeks. Shilo Posted Jun 10, 2012, 8:51 pm	Good morning Mum! Oh mum, this was the best day I had so far on my trip. Shilo took us to Cologne to visit the Chocolate Museum. And inside the museum is a chocolate factory, so I could fulfill one of my life missions today. First we went into the tropic house. There I found a cacao plant, but it has no fruits at the moment. With this tool you can find out how heavy the bag with the cacao beans is Oh look I found some chocolate in the show cases. Then we went into the section with the chocolate factory. This machine is called Cocoa mill.  The pre-crushed cocoa kernels were milled and trough the frictional heat the cocoa butter melts and the cocoa mass leaves the mill in a liquid state. This is a giant mixer. Chocolate essentially consists of cocoa paste, cocoa butter, sugar, milk or cream powder, and flavourings such as vanilla. All components were filled into the mixer and thoroughly blended.  After that the paste was lead to the rolling mill. The luke-warm chocolate paste is passed into the preheated moulds. The moulds then pass over a vibrating table so that the chocolate paste is evently distributed and any air bubbles can escape. And this machine wraps the chocolate into paper. This chocolate was given as a gift for every visitor at the entrance. This is a giant chocolate fountain. It looks so yummy and I hope I can taste a little bit of this chocolate. Oh great, host dad was so nice and shared his chocolate with me Here you can see some shapes for chocolate bunny’s and Easter eggs and some sheets for Santa clause Look mum; here you could see how different chocolate sculptures were made out of different shapes. The best thing in the factory beside the chocolate fountain is that you could design your own chocolate. You could choose which kind of chocolate you want and up to 4 ingredients which came into it. We choose white chocolate with cranberries, almond and crisps. Here we could see how the self-designed chocolate was made. After that we needed a little break Mum did you know, that Years ago you couldn’t buy chocolate in supermarkets? You had to buy it in drugstores or get it out of cool looking machines Wow a giant Lindt Rabbit and the in Germany very famous Milka cow Here we could see how the packaging of some chocolate products changed through the years I couldn’t imagine how long it will take to eat this huge chocolate ball On our way back to the factory we saw some old commercials Great we got our self-made chocolate. It looks really yummy. It was a wonderful day. We had so much fun and we learned a lot about the history of chocolate and how it was made. Love you Mum Milk Chocolate

Shilo Posted Jun 17, 2012, 7:05 pm	Hey Mum, I am very happy, because today we went to Soltau to visit the Heidepark. When we stood up in the morning we weren’t sure if the weather would be good, but we were so excited that we started our journey anyway. After three hours in the car we are finally at the entrance of the park. I am so happy that we are here now and the weather looks good. Behind me you could see the roller coaster Limit. First I was a little bit scared because it looked so fast but then I had a lot of fun riding on it. After the ride we went on the Panorama tower. From so high above we had a great view over the whole park. Then we went into the haunted house called Krake lebt. First we went under water with a submarine and under water there were a lot of scary sea monsters. This roller coaster behind me is called Colossos. It is the biggest wood coaster in the world. Host dad wanted to have a ride on it, but we were too scared of the height. We took a little break on this cool stone turtles in front of the Limit Roller coaster. While we sat here and enjoyed the sun, we were visited by a goose and here kids. This free-fall tower is called scream. Host dad went on it, but for me it was too high. I went on this free-fall tower called screamie. It is the small brother of scream. Riding this water slide made a lot of fun. Now the park is closing and we were driving home. The day was really great, I love amusement parks.
Shilo Posted Jun 20, 2012, 9:45 pm	Good Morning Mum. Today Shilo told us, that Lorca will travel on to her next host the next days. Because of that Snowball had the idea to have a Tea party before she leaves. We planned to make a cake for the party. Before we started to bake the cake, we played around with the scale. Then it was time for the cake. It was really funny backing it. Doesn’t the cake look great? Now we could start our original Bochumer Tea party. It was a great Day, but it is sad that it was our last day together with Lorca.

Shilo Posted Jun 30, 2012, 3:12 pm	Hello Mum. Today we visited the friends from our host parents and their TV’s again. We played the game “um Reifen breite” together. I was playing together with little and Ranja. In some moments it was so exiting that Freddi couldn’t look at the board, but I think I was really good. At the end I made the first place, yeah. After that we watched a soccer game. Because it made so much fun, we wanted to play soccer too. We looked everywhere around but found no ball, so we asked Knöpfchen if he wanted to be our ball. But before we started, we changed our mind and helped Knöpfchen to stand up. Then Finchen came with a very interesting looking book. The book was called “Star von Bunny”. It is the story of a plush bunny who wanted to be a model. It is a really great book.
Shilo Posted Jul 3, 2012, 4:19 pm	Hi Mum. Today the weather was really bad. But we don’t wanted to sit at home the whole day, so we decided to go to the Museum of Natural Science in Dortmund. It is a small museum, but it made a lot of fun to look at all the different samples. We saw a lot of animals from all around the world, a lot of cool stones and skeletons from dinosaurs. After that she showed us the things she brought with. Snowball was very happy about the postcard and we all shared the sweets. Than we sat down onto the sofa. I told us, that one of my biggest wishes is to watch the movie “101 Dalmatian”. Because of that we had the idea to watch the movie. Snowball took out some popcorn for us. It was yummy and the film was great. But I don’t like Cruella De Vil, she was too scary. It was a very funny evening. I love you mum Your Milk Chocolate
Shilo Posted Jul 8, 2012, 4:40 pm	Good evening Mum. Today is the “Extraschicht – the night of the Industiekultur”. We were really happy to go there and decided to make the Duisburg route. We started our tour in the Duisburger inner harbor. Here were a lot of people who were listening to the music from the live bands, or who just wanted to relax and eat something. Look mum; I want to go all around the world. From the harbor we went on to the Landscape Park. There we could listen to music and when it’s getting dark, there will be a giant fire work. While we were waiting for the firework, we were looking around the park. Here you can see some pictures from the amazing firework. On this stage stands we saw the winner from the last “X-factor” season here in Germany. He made really cool music. After that we went on to Oberhausen to the theatre at the Niebuhrg. There we could see a lot of artworks and a fire show. The show was ok, but the best thing this evening was the firework on the landscape park. When we came back home, it was 3 o’clock in the morning and we all were really tired. So good night Mum

Shilo Posted Jul 9, 2012, 9:36 pm	Hello Mum. Because this is the last day here in Bochum for Hoppsi and me, we planned to go Bowling. It wasn’t easy to play with such a big ball, but it made a lot of fun. I needed this console to register our names Before we started to play, I cleaned the ball with a towel The ball is just a little bit bigger than I am and heavier, but I am strong. Phew, now I need a little break and something to drink This small ball is filled with talc powder. It was really funny to play bowling. After the game we went to the friends from Shilo to play some games together and to say goodbye to their TVs.
Shilo Posted Jul 13, 2012, 10:24 pm	Hello Mum. Today was a happy, but also a sad day. The happy thing was that a new TV arrived here for the America trip. We were really curious who would be inside, when we opened the envelope. Inside the envelope was a tiny bear called Sterni. We welcomed him warmly here in Bochum. After the welcome, he showed us the sweets he brought with him. Then we took a last group picture together, before Hoppsi and I had to leave. We were both traveling on to our next hosts Hoppsi had to pack his bag, before we left. Then it was time to say good bye. We hugged our new friends before I went into my envelope and Hoppsi jumped into his package. I will miss my new friends, but I hope we will meet again one day.

fam-united Posted Feb 20, 2015, 12:43 pm	We are on a short trip to Blaustein. Blaustein is a town in the district of Alb-Donau Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is situated on the Blau River, 6 km west of Ulm and has about 15,000 inhabitants.

fam-united Posted Feb 20, 2015, 6:43 pm	There will be a big event in this family this year: the wedding of one of the sons. Petra is happy, that she is allowed to bake the wedding cake. It will be a cake with strawberries and maybe some marzipan. She still doesn't know the other ingredients, so she has to try some cakes and find out the best version. And of course we are part of this. Here's the first cake - I can't remember the ingredients anymore, I'm sorry.
