fleursmum Posted Dec 6, 2011, 10:00 am	Hi Mum, I have arrived at Gisborne - I was picked up from the post office this afternoon. I have travelled well and enjoyed getting some fresh air when I got out of my travel bag. I can hear someone outside my travel bag? I must be here in Australia. Hello in there! How are you? Ahhhh....fresh air and sunshine!! When I came out I met Binky he is here from Germany too, here I am in the back garden now I am outside the garden fence looking at the big gum trees this is the house I am staying in Mum, a few moments sitting quietly in the garden enjoying the fresh air. fleursmum Posted Dec 12, 2011, 10:12 am	Hey Mum and Dad, We are off to the beach at St Leonards but have stopped here in Geelong to have a break from driving. It is a hot day today 30 plus degrees so it is good to be near the water. here I am looking out along Cunningham Pier - there is a restaurant and a pub out there - not a bad view huh? All around the bay here there are Bollards and they tell the history of the area. here are the life savers - there are over 100 bollards but we just looked at a few Hasune and I liked this man with the Eureka flag, this is the Salvation Army lady Hey Mum and Dad I think the rowing men are watching us having our photo taken!! fleursmum Posted Dec 12, 2011, 10:25 am	Hi Mum and Dad, We arrived at St Leonards just after a heavy rain shower - we were going to have fish and chips on the beach for dinner but it was too windy. This is a flat calm beach usually, but they get waves on really windy days. Can you see the rainbow from the storm over the water? Love and hugs Toto xxooxxoo
fleursmum Posted Dec 13, 2011, 8:27 am	Hi Mum and Dad, This morning we went for a walk along the beach - it was sunny and warm and lovely!!  the beach behind me is where we had our walk - it was a little breezy so Sue had to hold me to stop me falling off the fence post!! we found a sea urchin shell washed up on the beach SchokoCookie, Hasune, Binky and I enjoyed sitting on the beach, listening to the water and the birds flying over. It was very peaceful!  Binky was telling us all about how to keep safe at the beach  More soon Love and hugs Toto xxooxx

fleursmum Posted Dec 16, 2011, 11:33 pm	Hi Mum and Dad, Today was a wet and cloudy day so we did some reading inside we had a really nice lunch getting ready to cut up the fruit Hasune and I are ready to tuck in  We went out to the back yard after lunch and there was Binky sitting in the flowering gum tree  he looked right at home there !! Mmmmm...plums, not quite ready, but maybe at Christmas time! here I am in the apricot tree - these might be ready at Christmas time too, Hasune and I checking out the apples that are growing over the fence!! fleursmum Posted Dec 17, 2011, 12:15 am	Hi Mum and Dad, On the way back to Gisborne we stopped at Geelong to have a look at the Botanic Gardens there, not many Aussie plants though. We found some bollards though - this one is the man who started the Botanic Gardens back in 1851 - the lady has a flower press (behind her back) and a little bit of a plant she has picked. here we are in the sage garden and the fernery we found this sculpture down the back of the gardens. fleursmum Posted Dec 17, 2011, 7:31 am	Hi Mum and Dad, Today we had a big day out - we had a long drive in the card to Ballarat Wildlife Park. Here we go!! this is a Tasmanian Devil - they scream and growl alot and are pretty scarey!! The early settlers in Tasmania could hear them but could only see their ears in the bush - the ears look red with the light behind them, hence the name devil. They are meat eaters, so I didn't want to get too close!! here I am with some Western Gray kangaroos - they are very friendly and very interested in the food people feed them with! They love the corn and grain mix. here is a kangaroo having a scratch and an emu this emu was watching us and the food we had given a kangaroo we think this was a crocodile although it might have been an alligator - in which case it isn't Australian  this lizard kept on digging by the glass trying to get out, but it stopped when I went to have a look, maybe it thought I would be good dinner??  the giant tortoise are eating mushrooms and cucumber Oohh...crocodile!! Here is Misty the koala - isn't she cute? Not as cute as me of course but still cute! here I was saying hello, how are you to the baby wombat - wombat's are nocturnal so this one should have been in bed asleep, but there was a tour group just before us so maybe it was woken up to be patted by the tourists. It feels like a wire brush!! This wombat is one year old. and here we are on the way home - I am a bit tired now, so I'm off for a sleep in the back seat!! This has been a busy day. fleursmum Posted Dec 23, 2011, 11:06 pm	Hi Mum and Dad, Today we went for a walk in the park in Gisborne - it was a bit hot but we went ok.  this is the old courthouse, built in 1851 -this is old for Australia, though not for Europe!! this is the old jail out the back of the courthouse this sculpture is made from a very old cypress tree - the main tree was cut down and then the branches that were left were carved by a lady with a chain saw into these football (Australian Rules) players and a bulldog. The local Gisborne football team are called The Bulldogs. here I am on the bridge that goes over the creek here's SchokoCookie and me in the oak walk part of the park, it was nice and cool in here  everyone had a rest here, it was cool out of the sun. fleursmum Posted Dec 25, 2011, 5:48 am	Hi Mum and Dad, We had a big drive today - we went over the other side of the city to where Sue's sister-in-law and family live - they are on the edge of Sherbrooke Forest. here we are driving this is the back yard we met Hector the goat - his job id to eat the grass and weeds and to keep the yard tidy! lots of music happens here and painting! Sue's sister-in-law has done some beautiful paintings of the beach and the ocean the kookaburras came for a fishy snack a sup before dinner!  Yum...dinner - roast turkey, vegies and greens!! fleursmum Posted Jan 9, 2012, 11:46 pm	Hi Mum and Dad, Today we went for a walk to Edwards Point. we saw a sign telling us about the local plants and animals we stopped for a photo at Sue's favourite tree - it has grown in a circle!!  we came to the salt marsh where the sea birds are then to a bend int he path - we went to the beach via the coastal walk we had a little rest on the beach and watched the water and boats go by we found this tree stump in the sand and pretended we were riding on an elephant!!  in the afternoon we had a sit on the back verandah in the sun.  Love and hugs Toto xxooxx

Here we have arrived at the beach and we saw the ferry going out the heads, heading for Tasmania. Off to sea!! We are looking over the surf beach here - the tide is out so not much surf!!  here is one of the lighthouses at Queenscliffe our next stop was the old fort then we headed to the beach and the pier It was a great day here - lots of sun  Love and hugs Toto xxooxx

Lemon and Paeroa was made here by mixing a natural spring water with lemon, it is a very popular drink and has the label "World Famous in New Zealand". This is the park the big bottle is in on our way out of Paeroa we stopped at another park by the river and had a photo near the swing bridge this is a very popular place for picnic's and bush walking. On the way up we had a look at the old cooling tower that was used in the old mine - it has been moved to be nearer the new mine now. this is one big hole in the ground isn't it!! this photo is looking over the town of Waihi. This sign tells us all about the Maori carvings that are near by - they tell the history of the area. I liked this one!!  Love and hugs Toto xxooxx
fleursmum Posted Jan 28, 2012, 7:13 am	Back again Mum and Dad, This afternoon we had a drive over to Mount Maunganui to have a walk along the beach. A container ship called  the Rena ran aground on a reef 20km offshore last October, there has been oil washing up, birds dying and containers and their contents washing up on the beach since then. But today it was beautiful, we had a look at Pilot Bay - the harbour side first It was windy today - thats why the water looks so choppy Now we are at the surf beach on the ocean side this is nice here too!!  this beach goes on for miles and miles, way way down the coast. fleursmum Posted Jan 29, 2012, 5:25 am	Hi Mum and Dad, We had a big drive to Rotorua. Our first stop was at Rainbow Springs we had a ride on a moa a flightless big bird that has been extinct for a long time. next we went underwater to look at the trout Next we saw a baby tuatara - the adults can go without eating for 6 months and only blink once in an hour!!  Not very exciting to watch!! But the babies were moving around quite a lot. we had a little rest by the waterfall this was the only kiwi we could take a photo of, the kiwi are nocturnal and so don't like the bright light of the camera flash. Now I am in the government gardens in Rotorua, this building used to be the bath house, people came to bathe in the hot mineral waters for their health. behind us is the natural spring where the baths water comes from, the temperature is 212 degrees Fahrenheit and 100 degrees Celsius. I needed a reassuring hand in case I fell in  but I was ok!! This carving is near the memorial fro the Maori men who went off to WW1. Here we are sitting by Lake Rotorua You have to stay on the walking track here because the earth crust is very thin and can break, the yellow colour comes from the sulphur and smells like rotten eggs!! On the way home we stopped at Te Puke and looked at the big kiwifruit - heaps of kiwifruit is grown in this area. Early night for us tonight! Love and hugs Toto xxooxx

Next we went to the Sky Tower in the lower level, there is a shop selling product from Weta Workshop. I had a photo taken with Gollom from Lord of the Rings!! now we are up the tower we could look right down to the road through this glass Tonight we went out for dinner to the Cock and Bull and English style pub Love and hugs Toto xooxx

We watched the flag raising ceremony and learned that the flag is made up of the English, Irish and Scottish flags plus the Southern Cross which is a star constellation in the southern sky. Happy Australia Day!! Later in the day we went to Boronia to see a friend of Sue's, Freaky and I had a snack in the front of the car! Love and hugs Toto

Sara was telling me how we've had more than normal amount of rain this Summer... but Sara's probably been the only one enjoying it! I'll do a proper update again soon with some photos... Sara has to take me around for some photos - I wonder what I'll get to see during my stay in Country New South Wales! Write again soon!

fleursmum Posted Aug 7, 2012, 9:14 am	Hi Mum and Dad, I am back at the beach!! It is a little sunny today but the wind is cold!  but it is good to be touring again. Here we are sitting watching the water - Me with Kevin Kiwi, Tica, Lexie, Calliope, Ahonui and Glubschi. It is a bit stormy out there - we are supposed to have rain this afternoon so are having our walk in the morning!  I had a little chat with Ahouni and Glubschi, they came with me from NSW Group hug!!!  Big person hug!!!  We found a wattle tree with some flowers on it - that means spring isn't too far away!!  We found this interesting looking fungus shaped like an ear growing out of a tree!!  Heading back to the house now Mum and Dad Will be coming home very soon!!  Love and hugs Toto xxooxx
