Hello Mum!
I have arrived safely in Wales! Photos to follow shortly Here I am, welcomed by some ToyVoyagers and prospective travellers too. |
miapearl Posted Nov 18, 2011, 11:52 am |
Today, we came to Denbigh to do some geocaching. The day wasn't that great for many photos...
we found this cache... Then we found this "police car" in a little green bag hidden in a tree quite near the police station! |
miapearl Posted Nov 19, 2011, 9:11 pm |
Hi Mum,
Today, we went out for lunch in Menai Bridge and then walked over Menai Suspension Bridge to the bus stop. There is a second bridge that crosses the Menai Straits. Can you see the Britannia Bridge? We had a look out over the bridge on the other side. Beaumaris is in the distance, as is Bangor Pier though barely visible in this picture. Somewhere in this picture, there is a very sneaky geocache that my host had found a previous occasion. This is the bridge from the mainland. |
miapearl Posted Nov 19, 2011, 11:13 pm |
Today, new ToyVoyager tags arrived. We gathered around them with the prospective travellers... They looked excited... Who will be chosen to go on an exciting adventure around the world?
Today is also the day Clyde leaves for pastures new. Wil miss you my dear brother! |
miapearl Posted Nov 19, 2011, 11:15 pm |
We've come to the allotments
A cabbage The leeks look nice. |
miapearl Posted Nov 19, 2011, 11:20 pm |
We are going for a little walk.
We've come to a sandy place near Conwy. There's an island out there in the distance. That's me! No words needed! We found a geocache and this is a travel bug. |
miapearl Posted Nov 24, 2011, 10:49 am |
Hello Mum
Christmas is in the air, the shops are full of Christmas things. We have come to a garden centre in the middle of Anglesey An artificial tree with some nice decorations. Jolly snowmen More trees A red one I have a new friend! |
miapearl Posted Nov 30, 2011, 12:17 pm |
We've come out for a walk, but first, a geocache
is near here. A tree! This is the only nuclear power station in Wales still active. Wylfa is a Magnox reactor. This is the Esgair Cemlyn and is a naturally created shingle ridge. The way we came. This is a brackish lagoon, it has islands. The area is a nature reserve for the many terns that come here to breed. A zoomed image of Wylfa. |
miapearl Posted Dec 12, 2011, 11:11 am |
My host is doing a jigsaw
She isn't quite finished yet... Luc Zeke is leaving today. For travel, he's popped back into his egg. ... |
miapearl Posted Dec 12, 2011, 12:05 pm |
We welcomed a new visitor to my host's home
His name is KalliHH |
miapearl Posted Dec 12, 2011, 12:15 pm |
My host had put in some dried fruit for soaking in brandy the other day.
Today, we will make the Christmas cake. The butter and sugar is being creamed. Eggs were added. Flour, spices, the fruit, nuts and treacle also get added. The cake will take 4 hours in the oven, after our bedtimes. Maybe we'll have a photo with it when the cake is fed some more brandy. |
miapearl Posted Dec 12, 2011, 7:38 pm |
Today, we've come out late to Porthmadog to find a Geocache.
We are in a bird hide. Porthmadog is a coastal town and is sited on the estuary of the River Glaslyn. On another occasion, my host has seen a red-breasted merganser bird. I can't see any birds out there. This is a geocache, with the logsheets in a 35mm film canister. It is getting dark and time to go home. |
miapearl Posted Dec 16, 2011, 7:46 pm |
Today, we went for a walk. We've come to Penrhos Country Park on Anglesey.
It is a bit windy. The coastal park also has a woodland. They have a pet cemetery. Having a rest on Tunnicliffe's seat. We saw some fungi. Not sure why this yellow bear is on the fence post. Holyhead mountain is in the distance. Near here is a geocache. The geocache was found but we didn't want to reveal the exact location of it. More fungi. Brr, it is cold. |
miapearl Posted Dec 20, 2011, 10:56 am |
Oh dear...
There's a piece missing.... |
miapearl Posted Dec 20, 2011, 10:56 am |
We heard that there had been snow in the mountains, so we jumped on a bus
and headed out to them. Can you see the snow on the mountain? We came to Llanberis. This is Padarn Lake, with Dolbadarn Castle in the distance. Ducks! It is too late in the year to go on the train up Snowdon, in fact, they are closed for the off-peak season and are doing maintenance. Snow isn't all that far down the mountain. Before the bus home, we had time for a quick look at Dolbadarn Castle. You can't see the really snowy mountain in the background! |
miapearl Posted Dec 20, 2011, 11:17 am |
We've come out to Porthmadog to go shopping, but first, a look at the snowy mountains. |
miapearl Posted Dec 20, 2011, 11:23 am |
Some houses on my host's estate have outside decorations. |
miapearl Posted Jan 10, 2012, 10:04 pm |
We went to my host's mum's for Christmas.
We heard they were doing the tree so we all came for a look. These lights work! We hid among the tinsels I'm the Angel on this tree! The tree is going to look good.[img][/img] |
miapearl Posted Jan 12, 2012, 12:02 pm |
What is behind us in the wrapping paper? Gold! |
miapearl Posted Jan 12, 2012, 4:00 pm |
We've come out for a New Year's Eve walk to the beach
This is (old) Hunstanton beach, faces west but is on the East coast of England. Oh dear, poor whale. According to one of the locals, it had died out at sea. It was quite a big beast. Perhaps it died of old age. The brown layer is Carrstone, a sandstone with cement. Above, there is red and white chalk. The old lighthouse sits atop the cliffs. The sun will set soon. There isn't as much white chalk on the cliff, some had fallen down. |
miapearl Posted Jan 12, 2012, 4:18 pm |
We are going to enjoy the rest of 2011 and relax. Tomorrow is a new year!
Let's celebrate with some cake! |
miapearl Posted Jan 12, 2012, 4:20 pm |
Happy New Year. Today, we've come for a New Year's Walk at Freiston Shore. It is an RSPB nature reserve. The weather wasn't all that great but at least it was dry. |
miapearl Posted Jan 20, 2012, 10:37 am |
Today, we'll be making our way back home to Wales. I wonder if we'll stop off anywhere interesting. |
miapearl Posted Jan 20, 2012, 10:51 am |
On our way home, we went via Magna, an industrial science museum set in an old steelworks near Rotherham/Sheffield.
The museum is in 4 sections. The first section we visited was Fire. A fire tornado Then, we headed to air after a quick look at this metal can magnet game. This thing blows air to generate "music" at the press of buttons. Then, onto water Lots of possibilities to get wet but we didn't bring any towels, so will be careful. A water blaster.. Those cones will get full of water when someone raises the water up a rope or something. Those balls are being kept in the air! Then, we went on to Earth This film is showing the Earth. We arrived here late and didn't have time to put our hard hats on. |

Hi mom!
I went on a little adventure yesterday walked around a bit. First we got off the subway at Grand Army Plaza on our way to the Tiffany's store. Here is a statue of General William Sherman and the goddess Nike. All around the statue and up the street were carriages for people to ride into Central park that is in the background. We'll get to central park after going to Tiffany's. This Tiffany's store is the one in the famous movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" with Audrey Hepburn. After sometime in the store we headed back to Central park. There is a lot to see in the park...since it was getting late and dark out we only had about an hour to walk around. Here is one of the many ponds in the park. And here is one of the many walkway arches that are in the park. And near by is a ice skating rink There are several visitor centers here as well. Both were closed but they had cool names. Here is the chess and checker house. The "house" is surrounded by tables and benches to play chess or checkers on! Close by was another visiter center called "the Dairy" because it looks like a dairy barn. There are lots of open lawns in Central park. Here is one called Sheep meadow...but sadly there are no sheep there and it is closed off for the season. Another famous area is called "Strawberry Fields" and it is a memorial to John Lennon of the Beatles. Well I hope you enjoyed the few pictures I have of the park. Central Park is enormous and takes days to see everything! Until next time! |

Hi Mom,
So last weekend we visited the Natural History Museum. Here is the main entrance. When you step in you are met with an amazing view of Dinosaurs! After we got our tickets we were off! Look at all the wonderful animals they have on display. I feel like I fit right back in since Africa is natural habitat! Here are some artifacts found in Africa A map of my homeland We move along and find other animals and other cultures along the way. Hope the tigers don't see me! And now the coolest part...the dinosaurs!!! Looks like one of them wanted to make me into a snack! Doesn't it look like this one is riding an invisible bicycle?? This one reminded my host of a character in the Ice Age movies This one isn't a dinosaur but the skeleton of a moose We then went to the marine life area of the museum and saw Arctic animals. This sea lion was massive! I tried taking a picture with the big blue whale that is in the museum but it's in a really dark room so you can't really see it but here is a try. Well I had a lot of fun on my visit. Hope you enjoyed my pictures. Until next time! |

Saturday was St. Patrick's Day and there is a big famous parade in New York that occurs. We made our way down there and got to see a lot of school bands, cheerleaders, firefighters, policemen and bagpipe players. Enjoy the photos!

On Saturday my host took me to the Guggenheim museum. Unfortunately, they have a very strict "No Photo" policy so I was only able to take a few pictures of the building and of one piece of art at the first level. Hope you enjoy the few pictures!
The building is stunning and many people come to take pictures of the building itself. Here is the piece of art that was on display on the ground level. It's a big statue made of foil! I got to see a lot of nice art...just couldn't take pictures of it :[ Hope you've enjoyed my adventures here in New York. I think I am off soon to my new host. Until next time! |

Hi Mom, I arrived all the way over in Australia, safe and still in one piece!
While I was waiting to be picked up from the Post Office I decided to have a stretch and look around but only when I heard it was all clear. But I soon realised I wasn't alone. I had a quick chat to some strange looking locals. They only had eyes for each other so I went back to looking I even changed my money over to Australian Dollars It seems so quiet here compared to New York! It is getting daylight now so I had better get back into my envelope and await my new host. Until then, Bye |

I'm standing on the top of the mountain between 2 cities, Takamatsu and Sakaide. It's an amazing view of the Seto Inland Sea. Can you see the Seto Ohashi Bridge across the sea? In mountain I saw a very strange statue of Ushi-Oni. It is a creature which appears in the folklore of Japan. |

Shodo-shima - Shodo Island
Shodo-shima is located north of Takamatsu, the capital city of Kagawa prefecture. The ferry boat took us here. It was about an hour trip from Takamatsu port. Now we stand on the highest place in the island. This area is called Kankakei, if it's November we can see the beautiful autumn color. On the way to the rest house from the peak of the mountain, we came across a group of wild Japanese monkeys!!! I was surprised |

Hello home
After a really short trip I arrived safely in Switzerland. Since it was a bit late, I got to know the other TV's today. They are all very nice. To embrace I am a bit large. They have tried it anyway. It tickled my chest. Soon we will make a trip. I am curious. Bye for now Mr. Wilson |
Jasper Posted Oct 21, 2012, 4:25 pm |
Hi mum,
Yesterday we drove to Schwägalp. This pass is 1300 meters high and is located at the foot of the Säntis. First we admired a old coach. A special trip for great TV's. How funny. At 2,502.9 meters above sea level, Säntis is the tallest mountain in the Alpstein massif of northeastern Switzerland. The mountain is a highly visible landmark thanks to its exposed northerly location within the Alpstein massif. The panorama from the summit is spectacular. Six countries can be seen if the weather allows: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, and Italy. By a cable car you can reach the top. The so-called Säntismord (English: Säntismurder) happened in the winter of 1922. It refers to a crime in which the weather station keeper and his wife were murdered. The murder was only discovered because of missing weather reports on February 21. As a result of the missing reports, a search party was sent to Säntis, where they discovered the bodies. The prime suspect was shoemaker Gregor Anton Kreuzpointer, who committed suicide three weeks after the murder. The truth about this double murder hence remains unclear to this day. So creepy. As we sat on the rocks came a jackdaw and wanted to get Twix. Host dad could still save him. Schwägalp is also very popular with motorcyclists. As you can see here. I have tried the most beautiful bikes. On our way home we discovered an old stagecoach. For special occasions, it runs today. It is pulled by 4 horses. A hot air balloon, we have also seen. It was a wonderful day. Mr. Wilson |

Hi all,
When we woke up this morning our host mum said we should look out the window. Snow! Over night snow had fallen and it still snows. We immediately put on our hats and scarves and went out onto the balcony. What a beauty. Meomie has never seen snow. She was almost mad with joy. After we played a few times in the snow, our host mum called back to the apartment. They pulled us out of the wet clothes and grabbed us in a warm blanket. Was that a fun. Kisses, Mr Wilson |

Today is Halloween and I have worked hard the last few days. Pumpkin carving was not so easy. And my costume for tonight, I had to make yet. I'll show you, but not tell anyone, it's a surprise. I'm ready for trick or treat, let's go. Mr. Wilson |

Hello mum,
we had a great Halloween night. When it was dark we put on our costumes and headed off. Trick or Treat. We saw spooky pumpkins and other scary creatures. We rang at many doors, and anywhere we got sweets. Today we can swim in it. I love Halloween! Sweet greetings Mr. Wilson |

Today we said goodbye to Sausi Karl and Yuma. Sausi Karl travels to Vienna to Carolin's mum and Yuma travels to Lichtenfels in Franconia. As a farewell host mum has baked cookies. We have all eaten immediately. Yummy. Then we hugged Sausi Karl and Yuma and wished a safe journey. Much love back home Mr. Wilson |

Hi mum
Sunday I went with host father to a soccer match. St.Gallen against Sion. Before the game, we drank a beer. Twix needed some help, the glass was so high. After looking at the pitch we have set ourselves to our seats. St.Gallen played poorly. A player was sent off and Sion went 1-0 ahead. In the second half, Sion made a further 2 goals. The fans celebrated enthusiastically. St.Gallen missed with this defeat the standings. After the game we enjoyed another beer and a bratwurst. Love you mum |
Jasper Posted Nov 11, 2012, 12:56 pm |
Hello mum,
yesterday we made another trip. To Appenzell, where the famous cheese comes from. On our way there we drove through the foothills. The weather was so-so. Cloudy and cold. In Appenzell we saw many brightly painted houses. This is the town hall. Then we visited the show dairy. Here we could see how Appenzeller cheese is made. The cheese cellar is huge. Here you see a small part of it. In the museum a cheese hut is recreated. We sat down in a copper pot in which the milk is heated. Then we lay in the bed of the dairy maid. At the end of our trip we have set ourselves on a cow. That was very funny. Many greetings, Mr. Wilson |

Hello mum
as host mum came home from work, she brought an envelope We were very curious, as always. The envelope was nibbled A corner was missing. The Post had noticed it and pulled a transparent cover over it. When we opened all the envelopes, came out a little rabbit. We introduced ourselves and embraced. Lola was very pleased to welcome a little rabbit. Then we had to take a nap. Two birthday parties make successively tired. I think we will have lots of fun with bunny. Bye for now |

Hello mum and all at home,
One week it was gray and damp. Today we had enough of the fog and decided to look for the sun. The Tannenbodenalp was the destination of our excursion. The Alp is located about 1400 meters above sea level. It should be high enough for the sun. After a few minutes driving time we saw the sea of fog below us. On the Tannenbodenalp we had gorgeous weather and a good view to the mountains On a small bank, we took a short break. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and the view. On our way home we admired the autumn mood at the lake. The sunset made a beautiful day perfect. I love all you Mr. Wilson |
Jasper Posted Nov 24, 2012, 9:36 am |
Hello mum
our last trip brought us to Stein am Rhein, a small town in the canton of Schaffhausen. Stein am Rhein is located where the river Rhine leaves Lake Constance. The small town is home to a number of buildings that are listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance. Stein am Rhein received the first Wakker Prize for the preservation of its architectural heritage in 1972. The award noted that Stein am Rhein was nearly unique in Switzerland and rare. In all of Europe for the number of notable buildings in a compact space It therefore noted the excellent care with Which the city which preserved. Here I show you some of the beautiful houses. A beautiful place on the Rhine. So many beautiful buildings. That's it for today, see you soon. Mr. Wilson |

Hi mum,
it's me again. When I came into the kitchen this morning, there sat a sweet, little ladybug and nibbling on a piece of apple. It was Helga HH, a new TV that arrived when I was still asleep. We introduced ourselves and HelgaHH showed us the postcard and the sweets she had brought. We gave her a group hug and welcomed her warmly. Then we have told many TV adventure. I think we will have lots of fun together. Hugs and Kisses Mr. Wilson |

Hello to all at home,
Yesterday we had to say goodbye to two friends Carolin and Twix travel to their next host. We all have wished them a safe and pleasant journey. Maybe we'll meet again. Fortunately, both have the same goal and therefore can travel together. It was a bit of a sad Sunday. Two friends go away, the weather is bad. Therefore host mum made cheese fondue for dinner. Here in Switzerland, it is stated: Fondue is good and gives a good mood. It is true after the fondue and a glass of white wine, the mood was really better. Love you all Mr. Wilson |
Jasper Posted Nov 28, 2012, 4:14 pm |
Hello mum,
For days the weather is bad and we can not go out. But - it should snow again. We look forward. In order to pass the time, all TV's and host mum made an Chrismas wreath. Each was responsible for anything. Does the wreath not look beautiful? Hugs and kisses Mr. Wilson |

is everybody well? I'm fine. Yesterday I was allowed to open the first door of the advent calendar. The calendar is filled with chocolates, yummy. Only 23 days until Christmas. And we greeted a new guest. Dolivia from Germany. Hugs and kisses Mr. Wilson |

Hello my dears
Today we use the nice weather for a walk in the snow. We had a great view of the snow-covered valley. Soon came back snow clouds. Home our host mum made a hot lemon tea. It did really well. In the evening we lit the first candle on the Advent wreath. Christmas is near. I think of you Mr. Wilson |
Jasper Posted Dec 5, 2012, 12:58 pm |
Hello my dears
Today, we have welcomed a new guest. It is Troot, a small sweet elephant from Finland. Host mum opened the envelope and each of us wanted to look into it. What a mess. Troot was a little intimidated. Then he climbed out bravely and we have warmly welcomed him. He brought with him a card, Christmas tea and a lollipop. The tea is for host mum, she loves Christmas tea. Our host brother has grabbed the lollipop. So nasty. That's it for today. Have a great time. Mr. Wilson |
Jasper Posted Dec 7, 2012, 6:57 pm |
Hi all,
It snows all the time. And we are waiting for Santa Claus. Maybe he will not come. Troot told us that Santa always comes., No matter how much snow is. Troot should know, he is from Finland. While we wait, the old Theodore tells a Christmas story. We have not seen Santa, but we heard him. He brought us nuts, tangerines, cookies and a chocolate Santa for each of us. We were all behaved TV's ;-)) Now we wait for Christmas. I think of you Mr. Wilson |
Jasper Posted Dec 9, 2012, 6:43 pm |
Hello mum,
The last days I was busy. I helped host mum to bake Christmas cookies. We baked a lot. Most of the cookies get host mum's dad, her brother and an elderly neighbor who lives alone. I had lots of fun and it smelled sooo good. miss you all Mr. Wilson |
Jasper Posted Dec 11, 2012, 3:19 pm |
Hello mum,
when all was ready for my departure came a new envelope. A small rabbit lady climbed out bravely. We welcomed Lancel, that's the name of the bunny, warm. Then it was time for me to say good bye. All my friends hugged me and wished me a safe journey. I had a few concerns. Do I have to spend Christmas in the envelope? Who is my next host? Host mum promised me that I do not have to spend Christmas at the post office. She sends me priority, I will arrive on time. And my next host is very, very nice. I'll have lots of fun, she told me. And because I travel during the Christmas season, there is something special: a star will guide me. See you soon mum your Mr. Wilson |

Hello!
Today is the 3rd Sunday of Advent and we bake Christmas cookies! First we made nut cookies. I crack and grind the walnuts. Butter, sugar and eggs. Flour and the walnuts. The dough in clingfilm and then in the refirgerator for an hour. In the meantime we weigh us. After an hour the dough in the mincer. Bake for 10 minutes. Then melt chocolate... ... and place on the cookies. Done! Next we make "Hildas", cookies filled with rosehip jam. I made the dough with butter, eggs, sugar and flavour. The dough in clingfilm and then in the refirgerator for an hour. We need cookie cutter. Batgirl and I roll out the dough. I cut hearts. Bake for 10 minutes. Then I give rosehip jam on a cookie... ... and place another on it. Done! Finally we make "Lucias", the half with raspberry jam. For the dought we mix butter, sugar, vanilla pudding powder and flavour. I design the cookie with a fork. Then we maked cookies with raspberry jam filling. Bake for 15 minutes. Puh! We were all very diligent! But it was a lot of fun! Bye, Mr Wilson |

Hello mom!
Today I was in the theater. This is the theater in Schweinfurt. We saw "The King's Speech". The theater is not big and I have a good view of the stage. The theater took a long time... 2h 30 min.! After the theater we go to an Indian restaurant and eat very delicious things. It was a very nice evening! Kiss, Mr. Wilson |

The New Year's Eve we spent with friends of my hosts.
There were Chinese Fondue with chicken and dips. For dessert we have ice that looks like a gingerbread hous. Yummy! Then I played with Illias, a 4 year old boy from the host-friend. That was fun! Finally it was time! Midnight! I wish you all the best in 2013! Love, Mr. Wilson |

We visited the Appleton Rum Factory.
Appleton Estate is a sugar estate and distillery in Jamaica that has been handcrafting rums since 1749. They produce a wide variety of aged rums, as well as standard gold and white rums. Located in the heart of the country's sugar cane belt, it is the oldest sugar estate and distillery in Jamaica. The Estate's sugar cane is harvested by machine as well as the old-fashioned way - by men wielding machetes. The Appleton Estate covers more than 11,000 acres (4,500 ha) of land. The parent company, J. Wray and Nephew Ltd., also produces the popular Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum. |
