Hello! Our names are Ronnie and Hammie. We are best friends who will be traveling on the USA TVT. We were rescued from Ebay! |
Michele_one_L Posted Jan 30, 2008, 11:42 pm |
Today we got ready for our journey on the USA TVT. The other TV's gathered around to wish us good luck. Colorado here we come! |
wourpet Posted Feb 1, 2008, 4:30 pm |
We've arrived in Colorado and there was still a little snow left so we went sledding with the other TVs we met. Eireannach is soon going to be going to Argentina. I think we will have fun here, wourpet said there are lots of McDonalds around. |
wourpet Posted Feb 5, 2008, 9:24 pm |
Whoo Hoo! We went to MacDonalds today. It was located in Grand Junction right across from Lincoln Park on the corner of North and 12th.
We even got to order some food. We got a spicy chicken burger and fries off the $$ menu. We might get a happy meal next time. It was take out but we were so excited our host let us have a quick bite vefore we left. |
wourpet Posted Feb 5, 2008, 11:22 pm |
It snowed really lots over night so we spent the day in the house but we had to work hard. We packed 30 boxes of snack foods and valentines to send to the US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It was cool playing on the piles of boxes when we were done. |
wourpet Posted Feb 12, 2008, 8:32 pm |
We drove out to Clifton which isn't very far from our hosts house but we had to stay buckled up. I saw this sign and thought it was probably a good thing. What a strange road.
When our host turned left we knew why she wanted us safely buckled up. |
wourpet Posted Feb 12, 2008, 8:40 pm |
When we were in Clifton the other day we could see Mt Garfield and it is the same mountain we can see from our hosts house in Grand Junction. Today we got to go and have a closer look.
|
wourpet Posted Feb 12, 2008, 8:58 pm |
Because we were on the I-70 when we stopped to take pictures at Mt Garfield we had to drive all the way to Palisades to turn around. The I-70 is a long highway called an Interstate that goes across the US. I-70 is the first one started and is also the most difficult because it goes through the Rocky Mountains. It stretches all the way from Utah to Maryland.
As we drove past Mt Garfield we could see Grand Mesa on our right. Grand Mesa is the largest flat top mountain in the world. It has over 300 lakes on top of it. Wourpet said Palisades is famous for its peaches. On the drive back from Palisades to Grand Junction we could see Mt Garfield and the Bookcliffs from the other direction. |
wourpet Posted Mar 1, 2008, 3:27 am |
Today we went to the art center with our host. She often goes down to the studio to make things of clay. Since it is our last time here she invited us along if we promised to not get too messy in the mud.
When she taught us about wedging and let us try ourselves it was pretty hard not to get messy. Then we got a very big surprise. There was a bit of a disruption in the studio when Flat Phil came in. He introduced himself and said he was traveling about the country and having his picture taken at various places. Was he ever surprised to meet us and learn we were visiting here from New York. We posed together for pictures for all of us. |
wourpet Posted Mar 1, 2008, 3:35 am |
At the end of the afternoon at the studio wourpet sent us for a shower. Because it was still a little cool outside she told us we could hop into the kiln and dry off.
We were a little uncertain at first but she said it was just 'soaking'. We climbed in with the pots and had a 'soak' in the 89 degree F heat for awhile before we got out. |
wourpet Posted Mar 1, 2008, 3:44 am |
This evening we attended the Navy Band concert that was sponsored by Mesa State College and held at Grand Junction High School.
It was a very good concert and during intermission we worked at the table that was set up for the Grand Valley Blue Star Mothers We were helping sell pins and magnets to raise money to send care packages to the troops overseas. We also told people about the newspaper articles and pictures of some of the soldiers and sailors from Grand Junction. We told them about Coney who is in Baghdad with the US Army. |
wourpet Posted Mar 1, 2008, 3:56 am |
Today is our last day in Colorado. We are going to Miami Florida to visit Clarissa.
Wourpet drove us to the mail center and let us stop above the traffic circle so we could have a last view of the area where we have been for the past few weeks. Its very pretty here in the Grand Valley with the mountains all around. Its called the Grand Valley because the Colorado river runs through here -- and the Colorado River used to be called the Grand River. To the South East is the Grand Mesa that we saw on one of our drives. And then we went to the mail center where we caught our ride to Miami. |
carlissa Posted Mar 11, 2008, 12:49 am |
Our host picked us up from the post office today! She just got back from a trip to Gainesville, Florida! We're sorry we missed it, but our host assured us that there's lots to see here in Miami. |
carlissa Posted Mar 13, 2008, 4:41 pm |
We spent the day with Prince Charming and Billy Goat. They told us all about their trip to Gainesville, Florida.
|
carlissa Posted Mar 13, 2008, 4:53 pm |
We went on a rescue mission today! We rescued some toy animals and some books that were being held hostage at the Goodwill Superstore!
Here we are at the Goodwill Superstore: Here we are with the toys we rescued: and the books we rescued: After all our hard work, we were ready for a snack: |
carlissa Posted Mar 14, 2008, 3:25 pm |
Our host took us for a bike ride this moring. We stopped to get a closer look at this pretty little fountain:
|
carlissa Posted Mar 16, 2008, 11:45 am |
We watched a movie today called The Tin Man. It's a very odd remake of The Wizard of Oz, but we liked it.
|
carlissa Posted Mar 17, 2008, 6:51 pm |
One of our rescued toys has been adopted and she is leaving today for Australia! Before she left, she wanted to make sure that we had a basket since Easter is coming soon. After we showed her the basket we plan to use, we helped her get her traveling envelope ready.
Bye, bye little bunny! May the luck of the Irish be with you! |
carlissa Posted Mar 17, 2008, 11:59 pm |
It's St. Patrick's Day, so we decided to invite the gang to dinner! Everyone had to find something green to wear. We had a hard time finding something, but our host found a shamrock for us to wear. We all helped to make a shepherd's pie to eat!
|
carlissa Posted Mar 19, 2008, 10:24 pm |
We learned how to ride a motorcycle today!
Hammie tried riding first: Then Ronnie took a turn: Ronnie tried to do a headstand on the motorcycle: Then we rode double: and then we crashed! Don't worry, we are okay! It may be awhile before we try riding the motorcycle again, though. |
carlissa Posted Mar 20, 2008, 4:07 pm |
Our rescued cow has been adopted! He is on his way to New Zealand!
Before he left, he wanted to ride the motorcycle, so we gave him some lessons on riding it: Then we kissed him goodbye and wished him well in his new life. Bye, bye! Don't forget to write! |
carlissa Posted Mar 21, 2008, 10:32 pm |
Our host took us on a bike ride through Larry & Penny Thompson Park today! Here we are in the bike's basket with Billy Goat, Tiger The Best, and Yum Yum: We stopped to check out the picnic area and see the lake. We should have stopped at McDonalds so we would have something to eat while we were here! Some ducks came over to visit: We rode the bike some more, then we stopped at this bench for a rest: |
carlissa Posted Mar 23, 2008, 12:57 am |
We went to the Miami Seaquarium today! We saw lots of fish, dolphins, sea lions, manatees and a killer whale! Flipper, the dolphin, lives here, and we got to see her!
Here we are with the fish: This is Lolita, the killer whale: The dolphins were so much fun to watch as they played ball! Then it started to rain, so we couldn't get any more pictures, but we still had lots of fun! |
carlissa Posted Mar 23, 2008, 3:58 pm |
It's Easter Sunday!
Last night we helped to color some Easter eggs with Prince Charming, Billy Goat, Ossa, Tiger The Best and Yum Yum: This morning, we woke up and found out that the Easter Bunny filled up our basket with lots of candy and a little bunny rabbit: Look at what we got! Happy Easter! |
carlissa Posted Mar 26, 2008, 7:13 pm |
Today we went to Yum Yum's birthday party!
|
carlissa Posted Mar 26, 2008, 7:22 pm |
Today is our last day in Miami, so our host took us out to lunch at McDonald's! We shared a Quarter Pounder and some fries.
|
carlissa Posted Mar 27, 2008, 3:36 pm |
We are on our way to Oregon! We are on USPS Flight # 0305 2710 0000 6234 7040 |
3tmom Posted May 4, 2008, 4:00 pm |
Ronnie: Oomph! We're not moving anymore.
Hammie: Yeah, but it's darker and I feel squished. Ronnie: Maybe we're at our destination. Hammie: Probably at the bottom of the mail pile. |
Michele_one_L Posted Jun 13, 2008, 2:27 pm |
We arrived home in Rome today! We were excited because our last trip was uneventful. It's great to be home after a couple of months on the road. There are some new faces here that we haven't met before. Exciting! |
Michele_one_L Posted Jun 22, 2008, 11:11 pm |
Phew....We arrived home today and we couldn't be more excited! To our surprise there were other TV's here to greet us. Right away we met; Bellatrix, Candy Cotton, our half brother Gilbert, Resi, TheoSheep and Willy Wau.
|
Michele_one_L Posted Jun 22, 2008, 11:47 pm |
Another envelope arrived today! We were excited to see who it could be. Mom said that had no idea who it could be. We watched as mom opened the envelope....out popped Bene. He seemed very happy to be here. Of course we welcomed him with open arms! |
Michele_one_L Posted Jun 26, 2008, 5:52 pm |
Today we decided to go on another adventure! MissMelissa has offered her home to us and we couldn't turn her down. We said goodbye to all of our friends then headed for the post office.

MissMelissa Posted Jun 27, 2008, 9:17 pm |
Greetings from West Virginia!
|
MissMelissa Posted Jun 27, 2008, 9:29 pm |
Hello! On our first day out in West Virginia, we visited Melissa's relative's home. We met some furry friends.
This is Nicky. He's a homeless kitty. Luckily, the owner of the house keeps him fed and got him fixed (he didn't like it, but it was for his own good). The person that lives there is in charge of Save A Kitty Feral Cat Program Sadly, things got terribly out of hand after that... OH NO! Ronnie's been taken by the wild beast! Hammie couldn't stop laughing because it looked strikingly like the Wild Witch of the East with a house on it with those striped feet. Luckily, Melissa stepped in and saved us from the savage. Things quieted down after that and we got to enjoy the scenery a bit. One thing's for sure...We may be in for quite an adventure here! Until Next Time, Ronnie & Hammie |
MissMelissa Posted Jun 29, 2008, 12:03 am |
We were supposed to go camping this evening. The weather had other plans...Melissa failed to tell us that she's had a black cloud literally following her for weeks now. Great! Maybe tomorrow? |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 4, 2008, 3:13 am |
On our way to work with Melissa, we visited a McDonald's. Sadly, we were in a rush, so we hit up the drive-thru. But at least we got to help order!
Then, when we got to Melissa's workplace, she had quite a surprise for us. Somehow, and she won't reveal her sources, but Melissa found a Happy Meal box from 1988. Granted, there was no 20 year old Happy Meal inside, but you never see the old boxes anymore. We decided to take a moment to reminisce. Fantastic! Till Next Time, Ronnie & Hammie! |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 4, 2008, 3:25 am |
Tomorrow is the 4th of July, so we decided to show our friend from the U.K., Sandi Rose, why we celebrate the 4th of July...Well, the shortened version anyway. Here is what we told her:
A long long time ago, some people from Europe wanted to start a new life in the Americas. They made the long voyage across the Atlantic to what is now the United States. Settlements popped up in Virginia, and soon after all over the East Coast, settlers made their way all the way up to what is now called New England. Soon, though, the settlers of America wanted independence from Great Britain and started rebelling. We showed Sandi Rose how to throw tea overboard to protest taxes. Shortly after that, the Revolutionary War started and eventually some very gutsy fellas decided to officially declare their independence. On July 4th, 1776, the United States of America declared her independence from Great Britain. Tah Dah! It's amazing what one can accomplish in one slow night at work with an endless supply of cardboard, construction paper and tape. Of course, we hated wearing the powdered wigs. They just weren't flattering. Now that we've shown Sandi Rose why we celebrate the 4th, tomorrow we'll show her how! |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 5, 2008, 2:01 pm |
What is the 4th of July with a bunch of thunderstorms? Not the best 4th ever, I'll tell you! While cookouts got canned, the fireworks went off despite the steady drizzle. We watched the fireworks from city park and Melissa set us up with some sparklers of our own. Which, she lucked into because they were the last pack in the whole store and she really had to dig for them! Good job, Melissa! Real fireworks are illegal in West Virginia, so you have to go to Ohio if you want anything fun. Melissa's clumsy, so she thinks sparklers are the best thing for her to celebrate with. Happy 4th of July! (somebody needs a tripod!)
Until Next Time, Ronnie & Hammie |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 7, 2008, 1:35 am |
Today was a pretty sleepy Sunday. We were climbing the walls to get outside!
Melissa showed us the newest additions to her bug collection. She wants to stress that they have all died of natural causes. She doesn't even squash spiders when she finds them, she "relocates" them to a larger distance from herself. She's waiting for her entomology kit so she can frame these bugs and put them on the wall. Dork! So we are going on a lightning bug hunt with Sandi Rose and Samantha Turtle! Until Next Time, Ronnie & Hammie |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 7, 2008, 10:13 pm |
Hello! Our hunt was quite successful last night and we had a great
time. All four of us caught a lightning bug! We brought them inside to check them out and then let them go. But before we did, we caught one glowing! (which is trickier to catch on film than one might think...) They were fairly nice, considering the circumstances, but were glad to be set free. Until Next Time, Ronnie & Hammie |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 9, 2008, 5:05 pm |
I've visited another McDonald's. Melissa's trying to reduce her cheeseburger intake, so we haven't been getting too close to them. This one is the least attractive one in the area, but it's got a Grimace on top! We'll hopefully be able to see the other ones in town before we leave. |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 14, 2008, 11:32 pm |
Been wondering what we've been up to? Well, not too much. Melissa's been very busy with school, so we've been learning lots. We even got to partake in Melissa's newest adventure: a moss terrarium. We're kind of interested to see if it will work...
Until Next Time, Ronnie & Hammie |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 15, 2008, 3:29 am |
Field trip! Today we went to McDonough Park, a 277 acre wildlife reserve.
The first thing we saw were a family of deer. Do you see them? In between Hammie's ears? Look closely! There were three of them, a mama dear and 2 babies! The park is a series of trails that all surround this marsh area. There are lots of birds and animals that live here in their natural habitat. We met this lovely little butterfly, but Ronnie's head made the picture all blurry, so we sat it out. Geeses and gooses, oh my! We poked around a bit longer in hopes of finding a turtle so Samantha Turtle could meet with him. It started getting a bit late, so we decided to go home. You know how horror movies start. 2 bears, alone in the woods! In the middle of West Virginia! Eeeek! Until Next Time, Ronnie & Hammie |
MissMelissa Posted Jul 26, 2008, 12:05 am |
We went to work with Melissa today!
First, we met the Fonz. Can you believe someone traded this in for 10 cents? We can't either. Melissa works in the local independent record store. We think it would be a pretty cool job. Melissa assures us that it's not all puppy dogs and rainbows. But it could be worse, for sure. Here we are in front of the counter which is held together by stickers. It's so overly colorful that we could hide and probably never be seen again. Hammie tried to scan his face to find out his suggested retail value. It didn't work, but he was temporarily blinded... But that didn't deter him from trying again. That Hammie! We eventually got so bored that we fell asleep... Until next time, Ronnie & Hammie |
MissMelissa Posted Aug 19, 2008, 5:31 pm |
Today was Parkersburg's Homecoming Festival. It was Melissa's first time, so she didn't know what to expect. We did know that Eddie Money was playing, so that's why we went.
There were quite a few people there. And a weird flying person too. Finally, we found a place by the stage. And here comes the MoneyMan! We made a sign, but felt a little too embarrassed to hold it. No big deal, Melissa's friends were happy to oblige. Until they got kicked out after one song. The rest of the evening was spent at a friend's river lot. Which, sadly, is not very scenic at dark... Until Next Time, Ronnie & Hammie |
MissMelissa Posted Aug 27, 2008, 5:41 pm |
Well, well. We went to the drive-in to watch the Dark Knight. The pictures didn't come out too spectacular, but documented it was! That Joker was pretty creepy! Ronnie's huge head blocked one of the pictures, but you can see how much fun we had. It was a very quaint little drive in. The only thing missing was 57 Chevys and poodle skirts...
