Hello mom!
Today we went to the swimming pool! We were so excited!!
We went to the children’s swimming pool.

And then we took turns to use the inflatable seat. It was so funny!!

Ape Apina started to take a sunbath because he was the last to use it hahaha!!! :D

After this, we took a sunbath all together in the towel.

And we got hungry!! So we ate some chips and some olives!

Later, we went to investigate the place. Look! A wooden bridge!!

And a bit closer…

Where will this stairs take us? I helped TezTez to go up.

Wow!!! It’s a picnic area! A very big picnic area! Look how many tables there are!

Near from this there was a tennis zone with wooden benches.

We continued our way and then we noticed that somebody was spying us…

Z-Come with us!!!
T-Don’t be shy!!!

A-Come closer!!!
D-We won’t hurt you!!!

???-Hi! My name is Vassily and I’m a tennis ball. Sorry for bothering you. I was living alone here since I can’t remember…

Ohhh!!! How sad it is!!! Vassily told us he was abandoned for his family because he couldn’t play with them anymore. Zero told him that he could come with us, he was sure his mommy don’t get angry if he joined us.
So I’ve got a new friend!!!!
Bye mom!!!!

Hi mommy!!!
Today we have visited Camp Nou!!! So I get one of my life missions and Zero improve one of his!!!

We enter by one of the lateral gates. Can you see all that shields in the wall? They are from each “penya barcelonista”, a community that brings support to a football team, in this case, Barça.

This big truck is TVE, a national public television channel that will transmit live the match. Tomorrow there will be a Barça-Madrid match, the two most important teams in Spain. We have found a cartel that informed that.

This is the principal gate to the stadium, but you have to pay to visit it.

In front of this gate, there are some sculptures.

And this is me with Barça flags and Catalonia flag.

And finally, outside the stadium, you can see “La Masia”, it was home to the Barcelona youth squad.

I’m so happy to get one of my life missions!!! Thank you guys!!! Are you happy, mommy???

The first one we have found is decorated like a coalmine!!! We are in a coalmine!!!

And the second one shows us North Pole and South Pole.
North Pole…

And South Pole. Can you see us?

It’s all made with recycled materials: bottles, bags… It’s so beautiful!!
Bye mom!!!

Hi mommy!!!
Happy birthday for you and for me!!!!! Today we’re going to do a cake to celebrate it!!!!

These are the ingredients: 4 eggs, 1 yogurt (in this case, strawberry yogurt), sunflower oil, flour, sugar and baking powder.

First, we beat the eggs

Then, we add the yogurt.

With the vase of the yogurt we calculate the next measures. We add 1 measure of sunflower oil.

We add 1 measure of flour (x3)

We add 1 measure of sugar (x2)

And we add the baking powder.

We spread butter and flour in the baking mould and put the mix.

We preheat the oven to 170º during 10 minutes and we place the cake inside during about 50 min. We can check with a hook needle if it’s cooked inside.
It's delicious!!!!

I get another life mission!!!

Hello mommy!!!
Today we’re going to a mini postcrossing meeting!!!! As it is celebrated in the city center, we will visit the place before the meeting. Although Ape Apina has visited it some weeks ago, he comes with us.

First, we stop in Passeig de Gràcia. This two buildings are so famous!!! On the right you can see Casa Batlló by Gaudí, and on the left, Casa Amatller by Josep Puig i Cadafalch.

We arrive at Plaça Catalunya. Here will be the meeting, but we have some time to visit the city center!!

Les Rambles and La Font de Canaletes (Ow, this man is looking me…  :o). There’s a story about those who drink from this fountain, fall in love with Barcelona, so Rico the Tiger and I drink to fall in love with it!!!

El Mercat de la Boqueria

El Liceu

This man is always sitting here. He lets us to take a photo with him, but is not place enough for all, so Zero it’s not in the photo.

Museu de Cera. Mom, can you see Superman and C3PO on the top??

Plaça Reial

And now, we come back to Plaça Catalunya to meet the postcrossing people!!! Then, we go to have something to drink and write a lot of postcards!!!!

We have had so much fun in the meeting, but now is time to come back home. After this, we go to Portal de l’Àngel, a very famous street due its big thermometer.

Bye mom!!!!

Hi mommy!
Today Zero will show us Sagrada Familia!!!! Ape Apina will come with us too, because he doesn’t want to stay home alone, although he visited it already.

Z-This is Sagrada Familia, an expiatory temple that means that this building it has been built from donations. You have to know that this temple is under construction, because it’s not finished yet!! Gaudí started to work on it but he died before the end of the construction. After this, many architects have continued the work. But you will see the differences…

So, here I am!! The old part…
Z-This is the original part by Gaudí. I think it’s so beautiful with a lot of details. It’s “Façana Naixement” (Nativity Façade) and explains with its sculptures the nativity of Jesus. It’s full of life (the same nativity and vegetals and animals).

… and the new part.
Z- “Façana de la Passió” (Passion Façade) by Josep Maria Subirachs. It represents the Via Crucis, reflecting the desolation, the pain and the death of Jesuschrist and it’s made withouth details and with austere materials.

Mom, if you want more information you can visit

Hi mom!!!
Today is a special day in Catalonia. Today it’s “La Diada Nacional de Catalunya” (the National Day of Catalonia). This day people remember when Barcelona was defeated during the War of the Spanish Succession on 1714. A lot of people in Catalonia want Catalonia to be independent from Spain and this day a lot of people go out to the street to express themselves.
We have studied a bit about this part of the History and we have seen the manifestation on TV.
Ahhh!!! And Vassily has joined us!!!!

Look how many people!!!

This is “Castellers”, a human tower, add to Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO on 2010.

It has been an interesting day and we have learned a lot!

There is a projection on the façade of the Sagrada Familia. It’s so beautiful!!! It’s like the stone is moving!!!!!

Posted Oct 28, 2012, 7:23 pm
Hi mom!!!
Today is “La Merçé” (I told you about it in the last update). Every year this day is celebrated with “El Piromusical”, a show situated in the Magic Fountain in Montjuïc (do you remember it? Zero showed it to you) with lights, water, music and fireworks.
We have seen it on TV

Happy Halloween to you, mom!!!!!
Zero has explained me that here in Catalonia they don’t celebrate Halloween as USA style. Here they celebrate “La Castanyada” and it’s a popular holiday. A long time ago it was a holiday related with funeral rituals but today is celebrated like an Autumn party or celebration. It’s typical to drink “moscatell” (an alcoholic drink like sweet wine) and eat “castanyes” (chestnuts), “moniatos” (sweet potatoes) and “panellets” (little individual cakes with dried fruits) which are what we’re going to make today!!!!

First we prepare the ingredients to do the paste.
We will grate a lemon.

200gr of sugar

250gr of ground almonds

And a potato that we will boil

When it’s soft, we peel it and smash it. Then, we add the almonds, sugar and lemon and do a paste that we inwrap with a plastic film and put into the fridge about 6 hours.

Six hours later, we will make “panellets”!!!
With a part of the paste we will make pine-nut “panellets”. They’re the most appreciate.
We do little balls, put them in egg and add pine-nuts.

In another part of the paste, we add ground coconut and can give them a pyramid shape.

And with the rest of the paste, we do a rectangular shape, put them in egg and add almond.

Then we preheat the oven at 250ºC and we bake the “panellets” during 8 minutes.

This is the result!!!!

They’re delicious!!! Mom!!!! I've got half of one of my lifemissions!!!! To eat something typical!!!!!

Just for fun, we have played “Trick or treat” as USA style!!!!
D-Trick or treat!!!!

So here we are, playing “Hey, that’s my fish!”, it’s so fun!!!!

Later, we have played “Letters from Whitechapel”, about Jack the Ripper. We have to think a lot to find its haunt!

We are hungry after playing!!! We’re going to eat something. Mmmm!!!! Chocolate everywhere!!!!! “Bon appetite”!!!

Hi mom!
Today is the last day of Carnival festivities and here in Catalonia this day is called “enterrament de la sardina” (burial of the sardine). About why is called this way, there are a hypothesis, among others. First of all, to bury something is a way to forget it, to take leave of it… And the hypothesis is that the back-bone of the pigs was known as “sardine” and it was buried at the end of Carnival to start the Lent.
To celebrate it, we have eaten a sardine made of bread with chocolate. It was delicious!!!!

Posted Apr 4, 2013, 12:11 pm
Good morning mom!!!!
It’s snowing!!!! It’s sooooo strange in Barcelona!!!! As you can see, here it’s only raining, but, can you see the mountain behind me?

Posted Apr 7, 2013, 1:24 pm
Hi mom!!
Today we went out for a walk and we went to the shopping center “La Maquinista”. “La Maquinista” is situated where the metallurgic fabric “La Maquinista Terrestre i Marítima” was in the past. Here you can see us taking a rest in front of the little park of “La Maquinista”.

This is the large pond, situated in the middle of the park, named Narcís Monturiol (a Catalonian engineer, who invented the first crew submarine). It was built in order to take advantage of the two nearby water sources and it’s used to irrigate the park. Inside the pond you can see the large antique wheel that reminds us of the industrial past of the land. And the building near the pond is “Museo de La Maquinista y Macosa”, a museum which contains historical documents, plans, photographs, models and historical objects from the old factory.

The shopping center!!!!

After visit some shops, we take a rest in a lounge terrace.

Can you see the big clock on the floor??? There was a projector which projected the small hands of the clock to show the hour, but it’s out of order :(

In the first floor there are the restaurants, near another lounge terrace.

It seems like a jungle!!!

Before come back home, we met Tom and Jerry, who drove us in their sidecar :D

We had a fun afternoon!

Posted Apr 7, 2013, 5:48 pm
Hello mom!!
We spent the weekend at hostdad home, so we’re in the train to Sants, the central train station.

In Sants we took another train to Gavà. The views aren’t so nice, just buildings, roads or industrial parks…

Finally we were in Gavà!! This is the train station.

We did a bit of sightseeing while we went to hostdad home. This is the church.

And in this little square there’s a grower with some asparagus.

We spent the afternoon at home and then we went to have supper at hamburger, in the shopping center.

Suny found a little palm tree and she wanted to climb it, just for training, because she wants a bigger one! We waited for her :)

Then we went to the hamburger and shared a big hamburger with fries. Good appetite!!

Posted Apr 7, 2013, 6:51 pm
Today we stayed at hostdad home playing games. We joined with the other guys who live here, Koala, Pitufina, Beaker, Cálico and Super Coco. Zero introduced us and we took a group photo :)

First we played alone…

… And after, we played two by two to Kinect, Michael Jackson experience. I played with Super Coco and we had a lot of fun!

Posted Apr 14, 2013, 2:22 pm
Hi mom!
Today we went out for a walk and we found some interesting places during our walk.
This is “Plaça Jardins d’Elx”, where a Lady of Elche’s bust is situated.

And in the same square there’s “Parroquia de Crist Rei” a parish started built in 1924.

We continued walking and we found another church, but this is a quite strange church, “Iglèsia de Sant Joan Bosco”, inaugurated in 1974. When hostmom was a child, she thought it was a very big slide and she always wanted to slide for it. Poor hostmom!!! :D

In “Carrer Aragó” (Aragon Street), we found a sculpture dedicated to article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Later, we saw “La Farinera del Clot”, a cultural center situated in an old flour fabric in 1852.

And finally, we arrived to “Les Glòries” where we saw “Torre Agbar”, a tower which is the see of the water company of Barcelona (AGBAR = AGuas de BARcelona). At night it’s illuminated by thousands of colored lights.

It has been an interesting walk!
