Hi there! Let me introduce myself: I'm Gozer (which means "dude" in Dutch). I like the outdoors, survival, extreme sports, riding motorbikes, animals and surfing. My dream is to go to Hawaii!
I'm interested in culture and history of other countries. I'm easygoing, laidback, relaxed, but NOT lazy. I love to hang out with my friends, other TV's and pets. I fit in a medium size enveloppe. See you! Peace! |

Hello Mum,
I arrived in Germany. Dicker Kumpel was not at home, so I decided to wait in the garden. There were many nice flowers. I will write more soon. Love Gozer |

Hello Mum,
I went to a city near to Sülfeld today. It is called Bad Oldesloe. There was a nice water wheel. What a beautiful house next to the river. Then I went to the church. This house was a hospital in the Past. I found more old houses. I thought about jumping into this river, but RikeH told me that it would be very cold there. So I decided not to do it. The white building is the town hall. This is another house – called Stadthaus. I had a nice time in Bad Oldesloe. Greetings Gozer |

Hello Mum,
We went to the town Bad Segeberg. It is the town of the Apaches here. There is one of their stakes. I drove with this wonderful loco. There was a beautiful old house. And another stake. This big Eagle belongs to the third stake. Look – the church of Bad Segeberg – and a nice blue sky. We went up a hill and had a view over the theatre, where the Apaches will play Winnetou – Blutsbruder this year. I had a great view over Bad Segeberg and its big lakes. Later we went downhill and visited the small lake of Segeberg. I met some ducks there. What a wonderful sunny day. yours Gozer |
RikeH Posted Apr 22, 2013, 9:46 pm |
Hello Mum,
We had nice weather here and took a walk around Sülfeld. Behind me you can see the famous tree of Dicker Kumpel. I found some nice flowers. I loved this view. We took a rest and sat in the sunshine. Later we crossed a nice small river. Back home I found this wonderful stone in the garden. Yours Gozer |
RikeH Posted Apr 30, 2013, 9:21 pm |
Hello Mum,
Bad news – RikeH had the flu and was not able to make nice trips with us. So we decided to explore Sülfeld in the springtime. The first stop was next to this sign – I learnt a lot about an old channel. There it was – smaller than in the Past I think. We stopped at a nice place and talked a lot. No snow anymore! We went along this small lake – it was frozen in the wintertime. Look – what a wonderful tree! This is the old school of Sülfeld. And behind me you can see the emblem of the village. Some years ago they celebrated 800 years for Sülfeld – an old village, isn't it? This is the church – a really nice building. On the other side of the street there was the old pharmacy. I spent some time on a playground – and loved it. Yours Gozer |

Hello Mum,
RikeH is still ill. But the spring arrived in Germany. So I decided to explore the garden. I found many nice flowers – tulips in different colors. Two more colors. I took a rest next to these blue flowers in the sunshine. I loved these beautiful flowers – but I don't know the English name for it. The last wonderful thing I found was this blossom of the magnolia. Yours Gozer |
Emjay Posted May 4, 2013, 8:22 pm |
Dear Mum,
I'm sorry to hear you are ill. I hope you get well soon! Best wishes, your HolgiHH |

Hello Mum,
Happy Mother's Day! I wanted to send you these flowers, but they would die on the way to you. So you get this photo! RikeH says thanks for the lovely card HolgiHH sent her! It was amazing - with a donkey on it! We all here love it! Love Gozer |
Emjay Posted May 14, 2013, 2:19 pm |
Hi Gozer & Rike,
Thanks so much for the lovely flowers! And you're welcome, Rike. Holgi bought the card in Den Hoorn, a village near Delft. It says: "For the dearest mom, big hug on Mother's Day". But maybe you figured that out yourself! Hope you are feeling better. Best regards from Holland, Holgi & Emjay |

Hello Mum,
We visited a small city near to Sülfeld today – it is called Bargteheide. I started next to a nice lake. This was funny – a big old water pump. This sign was really interesting. The rainwater take two directions here – the rain from one side of the street flows in two rivers to the Baltic Sea. And the rain on the other side flows to the North Sea in two other rivers. My last stop was next to another nice lake. We planned to visit the church, but it started to rain – so we drove home. Love Gozer |
RikeH Posted May 15, 2013, 8:39 pm |
Hello Mum,
We bought nice flowers in Bargteheide. Today I spent some time in the garden and had a look at the new flowers there. I loved these! But these flowers were beautiful, too. I liked the color of these plants. This is the place where Dicker Kumpel grows his vegetables. I talked a lot with this funny guy – he got a new plant, too. Many greetings |

Hello Mum,
Today we went to the church St. Michaelis. We went there by bus. The church is called Michel and it is one of Hamburg's five Lutheran main churches and the most famous church in the city. St. Michaelis is a landmark of the city. We decided to go inside. It was beautiful. Look – the big organ. I love the interior. What a nice white church. Outside I saw this big bell. Behind me you can see the town hall of Hamburg. We went back home by train. Love Gozer |

Hello Mum,
It was an awful weekend. We had so many plans – and then we had rain all the time. Maybe it was a bad idea to travel to the North of Germany. The only nice thing of the weekend was the meal on Monday. I got some delicious self-made Sushi. Maybe I will try to learn how to create it? But it is much nicer to sit here with my friends and have a nice meal together. Yours Gozer PS : The green thing called Wasabi was so hot!!! |
Emjay Posted May 23, 2013, 7:42 am |
Hi Gozer,
What a great meal! Looks really colourful. Yeah, I know about the green stuff! Very, very hot! I wish you a nice and SUNNY stay in Bavaria and Switzerland. Bye, bye! Your Mum, Emjay |

Hello Mum,
I decided to look what RikeH is doing, when she is not at home. So I went to a place called work. It seems to be important to know the correct date here. I talked to some friendly guys. The view out of the window was not amazing – I think I will stay on Dicker Kumpel's blue armchair instead of going to work. This weekend will be great – Dicker Kumpel's best friend Murph will come and visit us. Yours Gozer |
RikeH Posted May 28, 2013, 5:21 pm |
Hi Mum,
Today Murph and GustavHH came and visited Dicker Kumpel and us. When we arrived in the living room BineHH, PieksiHH and TobiHH sat on the table and told us that they had a surprise for all of us. Of course we went into the room – we love surprises. They had drinks, muffins and more delicious things to eat for all of us. A party – this is great! I found a great place between two lovely girls – Shelly and Kleine Fee. Cheers! Then it was time to eat. I had a yummy muffin and a delicious burger. Later this evening we all had fun and sang wonderful ToyVoyager-songs. It was a wonderful evening! Love Gozer |

Hello Mum,
We were on our way into the South. We took the ICE- a very fast German train. Look – our speed was 199 km/h at this moment. Later we drove 250 km/h. This was great. I looked out of the window – the weather was not so nice in most parts of Germany. And there were many tunnels on our way. We will spend some days in Bavaria. I will write more soon. Love Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 3, 2013, 7:16 pm |
Hello Mum,
We visited the town Amberg today. It was raining – but it was raining for a long time in this part of Germany. There are heavy floods at the moment. This was a nice place – I think the market place. Look – can you see the high water – normally there is only a small river. This is a famous building in the city. I went nearer and it was really beautiful. Love Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 5, 2013, 3:23 pm |
Hi Mum,
Today we drove around Neumarkt. The first stop was a nice church with an interesting cemetery in Pilsach-Dietkirchen. All graves have wrought-iron crosses and roses. Unfortunately we were too early for the roses, but I liked the beautiful crosses. The interior of the church was nice, too. Later we went to the ruin called Wolfstein. It was so big and high on a hill. I saw Neumarkt fom there. We played on the pillory. But of course I know that it was a serious place in the Past. I loved this ruin! Tomorrow we will drive to Switzerland. Keep your fingers crossed that we will have a safe trip. Some trains were already cancelled because of the heavy floods here in Southern Germany. Yours Gozer |
Emjay Posted Jun 5, 2013, 4:02 pm |
Hi Gozer and other TV's!
Have a good and safe trip! Hopefully the weather will be good. It is warm and sunny here. We can hardly believe it! Have fun! Love, Emjay, HolgiHH and Cuty |
RikeH Posted Jun 5, 2013, 8:51 pm |
Hello Mum,
Good luck for all of us. The trains to Austria were cancelled, but we were able to drive to Chur in Switzerland. We were happy and decided to enjoy the trip without photos. But then we passed this Lake. Surely you don't know the name up to now. We all sat together, because we wanted to see the sign together. Maybe you can see it – on the sign is the name Lindau. We passed the Lake Constance. Yours Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 7, 2013, 7:22 pm |
Hello Mum,
Switzerland welcomed us with sunny weather. We took a train called Bernina-Express today. We learnt a lot about it in this little brochure. It is a Unesco World Heritage running along 122 kms of track, passing through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges and viaducts. We had a look at the map. We found a great and sunny place then we started. I met a friendly Capricorn in the train. There were nice mountains with snow outside. RikeH tried to take single photos of all of us, but the train was too fast – and it was impossible to get nice photos for all of us – so we decided to sit together and have photos together. RikeH apologizes for it. Can you see the viaduct behind us? Look – wonderful green meadows. We came into the mountains. Later we found out that it would be better to look out of the window, and not laughing into the camera all time, so we moved and looked out of the window. We drove about his viaduct, too. Next to the street – and our train - was a big river. We saw the head of the train before us. I love Switzerland. Look – I was in one of the tunnels – it was the longest on our trip – called Albulatunnel. It is almost 6000 m long – on a height of more than 1800 m above sea level. Sometimes the street was next to us. Then we came to the highest part of the trip. Ospizio Bernina is more than 2253 m high. This lake was so beautiful. Another view of the front part of the train. We went lower - and saw more green again. Later we went near to the border to Italy. But this was still in Switzerland. And here you see the circular viaduct of Brusio. It describes a 360-degree curve. Soon I will tell you about a visit in Italy. Love Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 7, 2013, 8:18 pm |
Tirano
Hello Mum, As you know we took the Bernina Express. It stopped in Tirano in Italy. We had only 1,5 hours, but saw a lot of nice buildings. I started next to the fountain on a nice place. Some nice flowers for you. Some days ago we were in Germany – and there weren't blooming roses. I liked the house with the beautiful balcony. And there was a nice church. Tirano has nice buildings. And some parts with older houses. I like most this old tower. There was a river in the city. Then it was time to drive back to Chur, where we started. Behind me you see our train. It was time for our meal. Then it was time for looking out of the window. A viaduct again. And we saw snow. It was a great day – in the hotel we were tired, Good night, Mum! Yours Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 8, 2013, 2:37 pm |
Hello Mum,
Today I explored the town Chur. Chur is the oldest city of Switzerland. It was nice and sunny weather. I started in front of the town hall. This beautiful church is called church of St. Martin. This is the gate to the episcopal Castle. The cathedral of Chur. I had great views over the city. There was a nice place called Arcas. Another gate – it is called Obertor. I relaxed in a nice garden. At home it was time for a cake. I shared mine with Dicker Kumpel and Kleine Fee. The others had a tart with raspberries. It was so yummy! Later that evening we heart some music and went out. Look – this was our very nice hotel. Yours Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 8, 2013, 5:34 pm |
Hello Mum,
Surely you remember our trip in the Bernina-Express. Today we took another train – called Glacier Express. Like the last time we read our little brochure. It looked interesting, too. It was a nice train. I like the mountains with snow on the top. We drove high again and saw a lot of snow. The landscape changed during our trip. It was great – we had our headphones and learnt interesting facts about Switzerland. We passed many small villages. This was a deep gorge. We had to use a rack railway, because it was so steep. We arrived in Zermatt in the late afternoon and hopefully will have a great time here. Yours Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 12, 2013, 7:19 pm |
Hello Mum,
We were in Zermatt – and had a room with a nice balcony. We sat in the sunshine and talked. What a wonderful view! First we thought about climbing up that hill – but it was time to relax. Later RikeH came and told us that we will drive with a nice train to a place called Gornergrat. Good luck for me – I found a place next to the driver of the train. We went higher – and there was snow again. Then we were at Gornergrat – and saw the Matterhorn – maybe the most famous mountain of Switzerland. We all wanted to have a group photo in the snow. I wanted to have one more with snow AND the Matterhorn. There were other beautiful mountains next to it. This was the view to another direction – amazing! There was a small chapel on the mountain. I sat next to it. Look – this was the train – called Gornergratbahn. On our way back to Zermatt we all sat in the bag of RikeH and had a lot of fun together. But at the end I had to jump out of the bag – because I LOVE this mountain… What a wonderful trip. Yours Gozer |

Hello Mum,
When we came back from the Gornergrat, we took a walk through the village Zermatt. We started in the old part. There were many old houses. Behind me you can see how they were built. The funny construction with stones and wood should help against mice. I met a Capricorn – normally they live in the mountains, but this one prefers living in the village. And we had fun with this group of marmots. This is the church of Zermatt. What a nice day! Yours Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 16, 2013, 6:03 pm |
Hello friends,
It was time for another mountain. Today we took three cable cars and went onto the Kleine Matterhorn. The trip was really interesting. I had a great view back into the valley. Then we were on the Top of the mountain. Next to it was another nice mountain called Breithorn. I loved it here. Behind me you can see the Matterhorn again. We were happy to see it, because only one hour later it was behind the fog or the cloud. It was amazing to sit at this height. Look – I was about 3883 meters or 12739 feet above sea level. Before we went back to Zermatt we visited the glacier paradise A place where I learnt a lot about glaciers – and saw nice ice sculptures. The ice crystals were amazing. And this was one of the best moments of the holiday – I climbed the Matterhorn. Can you see me on the photo? Love Gozer |

Hello Mum,
After seeing so many mountains, it was time for a change. We drove to Luzern, a city next to the Vierwaldstättersee. We jumped onto one ship and took a trip over the Lake. There were many mountains around – but I didn’t want to climb on one of it. I loved the views and the beautiful hotel there – it must have been a castle in the Past. The lake is so big – it has a big Island. We stopped at a lot of small villages. Look – another ship – there were a lot of ships on the lake. We stopped after 1,5 hours – and took another ship back to Luzern. It was called Schwyz. On the way back I had great views again. It was a nice afternoon on the Vierwaldstättersee. Yours Gozer |

Hello Mum,
Today we explored Luzern. First I climbed up a hill and had a great view of the city. Behind me you can see the Vierwaldstättersee. I walked on the old wall and saw this wonderful tower. There were nice places with old houses in the city center. And this is the famous place of Luzern – the Kapellbrücke. Maybe this is a nicer view? There were old paintings on the bridge. Look – a wonderful church. We went into it. I had a wonderful time in Bavaria and Switzerland – but now it is time to go back to Germany – and celebrate Dicker Kumpel’s birthday there. Love Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jun 23, 2013, 10:41 pm |
Hello Mum,
It was Dicker Kumpel’s birthday today. He got a blindfold. Then he was allowed to look. We all sat in front of and sang a birthday song for me. Look – Dicker Kumpel received a present from his friend Murph. All he need for a Candlelight Dinner with Kleine Fee. This was a great idea! Birthdays are nice! Then we had a party with coke, fruits and burgers. It was a wonderful birthday party! Love Gozer |

Hello Mum,
I went to Hamburg – this is a nice lake in the city called Alster. There was a big fountain on it. The town hall was really beautiful. This place is called Alsterarkaden. Then I went into a big mall –the Europapassage. Have a look at the arches. It was funny – I saw the arch from above, because I went to RikeH’s working place. On our way back home we stopped at another mall – the Levantehaus. Dicker Kumpel told us that there were nice sculptures of wild animals. And he was right. It was amazing. There was a bear! Back home I went into the garden – and found this wonderful blossom. Do you know what plant it is? Love Gozer |
Emjay Posted Jun 24, 2013, 1:35 pm |
Hi Gozer,
Amazing pictures of Switzerland and great pictures of Hamburg, too! I want to go there some time. You're a lucky buy to see all those wonderful places and have such good TV friends! Give Dicker Kumpel a birthday hug from me. About the blossom... I think it might be an eggplant or a gourgette (is that the right word in English?) Bye, Gozer! Your mum, Emjay |
RikeH Posted Jun 28, 2013, 8:51 pm |
Hello Mum,
Today we went to the Port of Hamburg. You can see so many ships there. This sailing ship is old and called Rickmer Rickmers. This is a monument from people from Vietnam. This is another old ship – there is a museum on it. Do you know this monument – it is called Elbphilharmonie. It is really often in the news, because the building costs a lot more than planned. I loved the red ship – it is called Feuerschiff – and it is a restaurant now. It was a nice day here. Gozer |
RikeH Posted Jul 2, 2013, 9:40 am |
Hello Mum,
I am in the North of Germany – and love the music here – it is called Shanty. Today there was a Shanty-Choir-Meeting in Travemünde. So we went to Travemünde. There was a beautiful beacht. This Buddha was so funny. Then it was time for the music. I knew many of the songs – and sang with the choirs. Look – I saw a big ferry. And a wooden sailing ship. But this is the famous ship here in Travemünde – it is called Passat. There was a big ferry wheel – but it started to rain, so we didn’t took a ride on it. Although it was raining we all loved these beautiful flowers. Dicker Kumpel told us that you see this big hotel really early, when you arrive in Travemünde by a ferry. It was time to go home, so we went to the old train station. We had fun on our way home and sang nice songs like ‘Rolling home’. Love Gozer |
Emjay Posted Jul 2, 2013, 9:56 pm |
Hi Gozer,
How nice that you sang on the train! I know you have a good voice. You could be in a choir yourself! I can see you're enjoying yourself with the other TV's at RikeH's. Soon there will be two TV's coming over to Delft: Orkku Orava and Emil. I hope you have still some nice adventures to come. Big hug, your mum Emjay. |

I found a new host for me. You remember HelmutBluepant? We had a great time together. Then he went back home – and now he invited me to visit him. And I was so happy – he came with his family to Sülfeld – so I didn’t had to travel inside an envelope. We were happy to see him and his friends. It was so nice to see Helmut again! Then we had some delicious cakes. Can you see how hot it was? The chocolate melted. We ate a lot – it was yummy! Then Dicker Kumpel got a present by Helmut. Delicious drinks. We spent the afternoon relaxing in the sunshine and of course we talked a lot! Then it was time to say goodbye to Dicker Kumpel. We had so much fun together. All my friends gave me a hug. Cuddling is great – so we had a big cuddle. Now I am on my way to Remscheid – I will write soon. Love Gozer |

Hi Mum,
safely together with HelmutBluepant, Charlotte, Mefito and the little Oink I reached Remscheid yesterday evening. Today, after a huge rain-shower, Helmut showed me the first impressions of his garden. At first we sat in his favourite flower, the potted poppy-blossom Then we walked through the garden Here he showed me the ox-eye (daisy) [Buphthalmum salicifolium] Lots of blooming at the moment At another place stand the Hemerocallis (in German Taglilien) Very dark red, I think Then we made a little stop at the bank in front of the gardenpond A lot of waterplants are there The main plant at the moment is the water soldier [Stratiotes aloides], Helmut told me, that the larvas of the dragonfly use it for coming out of the water after some years of growing and hang themselfs at the leaf tips to hatch out The next station was at the summer lilac [Buddleja davidii] Woow, the fragrance is..wooow Even a rare yellow one I find here Helmut is also very proud about his Agapanthus He told me that this plant would not bloom every year without the right hibernation He also showed me the nice rose-bushes this one has even a nice fragrance Here we sit in one of the appletrees Helmut likes plants with eatable fruit ...me, too This is the reason why we find a lot of red raspberry bushes [Rubus idaeus] We nibbled a lot of them That was my day in the garden here See and hug You, Mum Yours Gozer |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 31, 2013, 6:47 am |
today we made a little walk through the pedestrian zone of Wuppertal-Barmen
Here we start at the beginning. Behind me You can see a station in old style of the suspension railway (Schwebebahn), but in the holidays it doesn´t drive, because of the huge renovation that lasts almost 10 years for the whole railway... One of the nicer pre-war buildings there. A lot of houses were destroyed in WWII and the houses they built up after it, are only functional, but not very nice... This is the formerly "Hall of fame" , built at the end of the 19th. century. Now its "the house of the youth" and sometimes bands playing there. Here we play with 3 huge bronce turtles. They have their home in the pedestrian zone and are very popular, almost by the kids who want to sit on them. This is the town-hall of barmen, built in the late 20ths of the 20th century And bronce-animals again, but much older, here as colums of large lanterns Here we sit on the basic of one of them And we met "Tuffi" He is very famous here, in the 50ths he jumped out of the suspension railway and fell into the Wupper. Nothing seriously happend to him That was our little walk Love and hugs to You, Mum Yours Gozer |

Hi Mum,
today we made a contest who of us is able to do the ballet split with the most elegance I can tell You, Lotte didn´t win the contest Helmut did brave his best, but his legs are too short for doing it elegantly... I was surprised, the plushies choosed me as the winner, I would do it in a very accurate manner Then suddenly an envelope arrived us We expect Laika, who was sent by mcdaniels Helmut cut the envelope very carefully with his garden shears We heard a thin voice tellling us, that her name is Laika What a cute and friendly looking doggie Then she came out of her envelope And we gave her a warm welcome and hugged her And she showed us the postcard Mefitos Mum wrote Then we sat together, enjoying the yummy gumbears mcdaniels gave Laika with her for us And we had a nice evening with listening to Laikas adventures Mefito was asking her a lot about his home and she told him that almost is all right at home What a wonderful meeting with the little Laika See You soon, Mum Yours Gozer (new as a ballet-star) ... |

You never guess where we have been today: We went to Weert in Limburg They have some very old canons standing there And we liked playing in and on them Nice houses I saw in the pedestrian area And a tavern called „De oude Munt“ in the passage Nice shops like a shoemaker They even have shoes in plushie-size A water pump for horses perhaps and nice old buildings again Here is even a purveyor to the Royal Household Later on we had fun on a slide And like this little Fiat Bambino very much Then we looked for something to drink And to eat French fries perhaps? O.K., we looked for something other, much more typical for the region A trappist beer and the famous bitterbollen with mustard It was very yummy And I liked the beer very much Ouups What a nice town, Weert On our way back we visited the old Windmill „Aurora Molen" near Baexem Very nice, built in 1845 and restored a few years ago But there was no beer or something to eat and we went back to Remscheid That´s for today, Mum, Love and hug You Yours Gozer |

Hi Mum,
today we went to Wuppertal and visited the Botanical Garden there Today and on Sunday they celebrate a colourful summer fair around the Elisentower And this is the Elisentower itsself Formerly built as a windmill in the 18th century, a rich industrial magnate bought the area around the mill and built up his villa there in the 19th century. And he upsized the windmill tower to have a better view on the landscape of the valley of the river Wupper. First we started our tour and looked at the booths with handcrafted objects Then we visited the botanical garden itself Here parts of the old villa used as orangerie Look at the wonderful Lotos flower Here are some more impressions of the garden One of the two ponds with nice water lilies Even bananas they have in the warmhouse Here You can see the tower again And here I am on the tower O.K. this is not the real tower, but a good size for us plushies Now we are in the real tower What a nice wooden ornament on the floor Look at the nice ornaments under the ceiling Today this room is used for marriage ceremonies So let´s see what us expect outside Now we are on the top of the Elisentower, enjoying the landscape of Wuppertal and the fair in the garden On our way downstairs we learned some more about the 200 year old area of the Hardt What a fine day here we spent That´s it for today, Mum, see You soon Yours Gozer |

She didn´t want to talk about, what he has done... Hello Mum,
today we made a trip into prehistoric times and went to a famous place near Düsseldorf called Neandertal. There for about more than 150 years Dr. Carl Fuhlrott found relicts of a prehistoric human and he called him "Neanderthaler" Here he welcomes us very friendly A small scene how they perhaps lived? But let´s see what we can learn from the prehistoric humans outside Here a reconstruction of an oven from the late stone age Interesting tools for hunting and fishing The huge skull of a prehistoric aurochs Small talk between plushie to plushie Interesting, how a prehistoric drill works And what for nice artefacts the prehistoric people had And small talk with an impressive felt-mammoth An instrument called "atlatl", or spear thrower It helps to throw the spear about a longer distance What an informative and interesting day but now we all are tired That´s it for today See You soon Yours Gozer |

So let´s go through the first huge portal and have a look at the first court Very nice the first impressions, "typical Bergisch" Here we have the view behind the gate The statue you see shows Count Engelbert of Berg. By this noble family the region is named Bergisches Land, not because they have some small mountains and hills here A thick defending tower But Schloss Burg doesn´t only mean see an old castle, You also can have a trip from the valley station to the upper station of the ropeway See our Burger Bretzels around our necks? Every child and, of couse, bravely tv´s as well should get one as a typical souvenir from here From here You have a nice view on the landscape and the ropeway as well Lots of nice Begisch cafe´s and restaurants You find here A nice visit comes to an end at the Dröppelminna, an old typical koffiepot of this region That was our trip for today, love and see You Mum Yours Gozer |

Hello Mum,
today we made a trip around the Eschbachdam, Germanys oldest reservoir dam. Eschbachtalsperre There is a nice footpath around A little part of this path is also an element of the famous pilgrimpath, the Jacobus-way, wich combined the track between Dortmund and Cologne In the near we found a stone-cross, the table says, that a crime happend there almost 500 years ago... On our way there we found some nice looking mushrooms When we left the path nearby the dam and walked up, we reached the top and had a view on the southern part of Remscheid There we saw haws, also called rosehips And we played in the pink hawthorn [Crataegus laevigata] The best: we found wild cherries (Prunus avium) and collected them On our way back to the dam again, we saw nice looking mushrooms, but they didn´t really look eatable... Our nice walk ended at the dam again What a nice sunny autumn-day Love and see You soon Mum Yours Gozer |

today we visited a very old part of Remscheid near Wuppertal, called Lüttringhausen. There was a rural festival in the Streets But there were soo many people that we decided only to have a look at the church there The funniest this morning was to meet the famous little mole I love this friendly little guy... but he was sooo huge.... |

In the early afternoon we went back to strunkis home and had fun in the garden, trying to create jam out of our wild cherries we collected yesterday
...We don´t know exactly, if our protection clothes made from some medical glowes were the result of the young red wine strunki enjoyed.... ...but it protected our fur against some bad cherry-juice-drops... Laika and me sorted out the cherries I filled the cleaned cherries into the pot Part one is done... ...But what about electricity? Thanks strunkis husband, he connected the mixer and we were able to stay in the garden So carefully we mixed the fruits, caring that the cherry stones did not break Looks almost ready Now we have to filter the juice and now the protection clothes help to stay clean Now we cook the juice But not forget the jam sugar Waiting that the the jam will be ready to fill up in glasses Now our work is done Four Glasses we got, one for everybody That was my weekend, see You mum and have a good time Yours Gozer |

Hello
Today I arrived to Turku. First I met Teddy. I told him about my adventures as a toyvoyager and he told me about his life in Finland. Then I remembered the souvenirs I brought and showed Teddy the postcard and sweets. He liked them. The mice were curious and came to look too. They didn't stay for long, though, because they wanted to go hiding under the sofa before the cat wakes up. I think I'll have fun here. Greetings, Gozer |

Hello
Today I had my first adventure in Turku. Jinxed went to the Botanical Garden to take some photos and I decided to tag along. Teddy had a lazy day, so he chose to stay at home. The Botanical Garden was very beautiful and interesting place, lots of different plants there. The original plan was to take a lot of photos outside, too, but it started to rain, so we couldn't do that. Luckily the greenhouses were big and interesting enough, so I've got nothing to complain about. Such a nice way to spend a rainy day. Best wishes, Gozer |
jinxed Posted Oct 28, 2013, 5:33 pm |
Hello mum! The weather hasn't cooperated with my plans to go out and see the town, it's been too rainy. Today it didn't rain, so jinxed and I went to Puolalanpuisto for a walk. Puolalanpuisto is a park on top of Puolalanmäki, which is one of the seven hills of Turku. After climbing up the hill and all the stairs, too, I wanted to rest for a moment, so I sat on a huge rock. Then I examined a nearby statue. The sign next to it said that it's a statue for the friendship between Turku and Leningrad. I know it's St. Petersburg now, it must be an old sign (and statue, too). If you look at the background of the 2nd photo, you can probably get an idea of how high the hill is. Here you can see some of the buildings around the park. This old building is Art Museum. I like these stairs with moss and fallen leaves on them. There's another statue in the park, too. I like these swans a lot. I wanted to ride one of them, but it was harder than I thought and I had to be very careful not to fly away with the wind or fall down to a puddle of water. Here I sit on the stone fence in the front of the Art Museum. If you walk down that street, you'll find Kauppatori, which is a marketplace in the center of Turku. I wanted to take one more photo of the Art Museum before we walked to Kauppatori to catch a bus that brought us back to jinxed's home. Greetings, Gozer |

Hello Teddy and I were watching Keeping Up Appearances, you know, the British sitcom from 90's. The main character Hyacinth Bucket gave us the idea of having a candlelight supper of our own. Although our candlelight supper turned out to be very different than hers. First we lighted a couple of candles and grabbed some chocolates. Then Teddy fetched jinxed's old horror book. The book is in Finnish, of course, so Teddy read and translated some of the stories for me while I watched the pictures. Very scary and interesting book. Then we ate some chocolates and jinxed surprised us with marshmallows. I thought that it would be fun to roast the marshmallows and Teddy agreed, so that's what we did. It was very yummy. We ate so much that we needed to lay down for a while, but we still continued telling ghost stories to each other. We had a fun evening. Hopefully I can sleep after all those scary ghost stories. Take care, Gozer |

Hello Today we went to the cottage. It was a one day trip only, although I think it would've been nice to stay there a whole weekend. First we stopped at Nautelankoski to take a few photos. Nautelankoski is one of the rapids of Aurajoki (koski = rapids, joki = river). Yes, it's the same river that runs through the center of Turku. The sign here tells about the protected area of Nautelankoski. There was an old building and a nice fence, too. And here you can finally see the rapids itself. I had to be very careful, because I didn't want to fall down to the river. It's been raining so much that there's a lot of water running very fast towards the sea. The sign here shows which way to go, if you want to explore the protected area. We didn't follow the path this time, though, because we wanted to go to the cottage before it gets too dark. Soon we all were back in the car and continued driving to the cottage. When we arrived at the cottage, Teddy and I went to explore the surroundings. We climbed up the slippery rocks to enjoy a bit of sunshine. I was there first and of course I chose the better and sunnier place. November is usually the gloomiest month of the year and Teddy told me that it's name in Finnish is marraskuu, which actually means a month of death. So, we were really lucky with the somewhat sunny weather today and I noticed that it's still easy to find beauty from the nature. Teddy and I also climbed to a tree. It was fun. The bears in Finland are getting ready to hibernate. For a moment Teddy and I were thinking that maybe we should search for a nice cave and spend the winter there. I'm sure it would be an experience, but there are so many things that I want to see and do that I don't really have time to hibernate the whole winter. Teddy just asked me to share a huge mug of hot chocolate. I think I'd better go now, before it gets cold. I'll write more later. Hugs, Gozer |
jinxed Posted Nov 11, 2013, 10:02 am |
Hi mum! Now I'll tell you about the best part of the day at the cottage. Teddy had an awesome surprise for me. Can you guess what it was? Motorbikes! A dream come true. Teddy had borrowed motorbikes for us and we went for a ride. So much fun! Riding a motorbike was awesome. It was difficult to decide which one I wanted to ride, so Teddy and I changed motorbikes, so I could have a go on both of them. We raced, too, and I won. Mum, I've completed my first life mission. I'm so happy! Greetings, Gozer |
jinxed Posted Nov 11, 2013, 2:14 pm |
Hello again I've already learned that when Finnish November shows its best side, it's an opportunity to go out that I don't want to miss. As you can guess, the weather's been wonderful today. Sunny and a bit cool. I wasn't in a mood to take a bus to the town center, so I went to a forest for a walk instead. It's easy enough to find forests in Turku. This one seemed to be an old forest with many old trees, huge oaks and old tree trunks lying here and there. I found a nice throne for myself. This gnarled old oak was missing a branch, which was lying near the path. The traffic on these railroad tracks is quite rare, so it was safe enough to walk over them. It was a nice walk. Best wishes, Gozer |
Emjay Posted Nov 11, 2013, 2:57 pm |
Dear Gozer,
Wow, what a great motorbikeride! You look like a real biker! Congratulations on your first life mission to be fullfilled! Hug from all of us here, your mum Emjay & TV's |
jinxed Posted Nov 13, 2013, 9:36 pm |
Hello Today jinxed and I went to the town center. First we walked from Kauppatori to the river bank and then it was time to take the camera out of the backpack and start wandering around. Here's the old library. It became too small, so they built a new part behind this old building a few years ago. Here you can see a part of the street that we followed, the river is near, on the right side. Another view of Aurajoki and Turku Cathedral. We walked past the Cathedral and followed the river. Water level seemed to be quite high. There are equipment like these here and there along the river banks, in case someone falls (or sometimes someone is stupid enough to jump) into the river and needs help getting back to the bank. I hope these won't be needed. This seems to be a really nice place for a walk. We saw some ducks, too. Then it was time to cross the river and continue walking back towards the Cathedral. The sign here tells a little bit about Aurajoki and the nearby area. It says that the sources of Aurajoki are in a village called Oripää. The river is 70 kilometrers long and its average width is 50 meters, while the depth is 2,5 - 5 metres. There are 11 rapids and the two biggest ones are Halisten koski in Turku and Nautelankoski in Lieto. Here we stopped following the river and started to wander around a bit. Next we went to Tuomaanpuisto (puisto = park). The sign has some information about the park, too. It says that the park is a part of the barracks area, which was built in the end of the 19th century. Back then Finland was still a part of Russia and they ordered the compulsory military service for the Finnish people, too. Here's a part of the oldest industrial block in Turku. Now the old factory buildings belong to Åbo Akademi - the Swedish-speaking university in Turku. Turku is a bilingual town and its name in Swedish is Åbo. Here's one of the old wooden houses that can be found here and there. There seemed to be a small restaurant in this one. I have so many things to tell and photos to show that this update is going to be huge. I think it's better to break it into two or three separate posts. Probably three, but we'll see. Bye for now, I'll write more later. Yours, Gozer |
jinxed Posted Nov 14, 2013, 7:22 pm |
Hello again I'm back and it's time to continue telling you about my adventures at the banks of Aurajoki and the surroundings of Turku Cathedral. Here's the entrance of Sibeliusmuseum. Jean Sibelius (1865 - 1957) is a famous Finnish composer, whose music played an important role in the formation of the Finnish national identity. One of his best-known compositions is Finlandia. This sign here tells something about the first Botanical Garden in Finland. The Garden belonged to the Academia of Turku and it was founded in 1640. The garden was located here, behind the Sibeliusmuseum, until the 1827 Great Fire, which destroyed most of Turku. After the fire the Academia and the Botanical Garden were relocated to Helsinki. Here's the house of the archbishop. It's built in 1887. Can you see me sitting on the fence? In this building is the court of appeal. Here's the statue of Per Brahe - or Pietari Brahe as he's called in Finnish. He was the governor-general of Finland on the 17th century, when Finland was still a part of Sweden. He founded ten new towns in Finland and also the Academia of Turku. Here you can see the main building of Åbo Akademi. On the other side of the road is Vanha Suurtori - the Old Great Square. The Cathedral is located just across the road. Old town center was here, the Old Great Square and the Cathedral together formed the heart of Turku. As you can see, here's some roadwork going on. They're replacing the old cobblestones with new tiles. It's easier to walk on those tiles, but I think they ruin the look and feel of the Old Great Square. This building is Brinkkala Mansion. It's best known for the traditional proclamation of Christmas peace, which is given from the balcony on Christmas Eve at noon. Here you can see what's left of the old cobblestones. This statue is portraying Henrik Gabriel Porthan (1739 - 1804), it's in a park that's also named after him, right next to the Old Great Square. He was a professor in the Academia of Turku. Here's restaurant Pinella. It's in a very nice place near the Old Great Square and Aurajoki. Then it was time to start walking back to Kauppatori, but before we left, I wanted to have one more look towards Tuomiokirkkosilta (tuomiokirkko = cathedral, silta = bridge). Here's the old part of the library again. Here you can see the entrance of Aboa Vetus and Ars Nova. It's a museum of history and contemporary art. Quite an interesting combination, I think. This is a nice view from Auransilta. They're building a new bridge behind the library, between Auransilta and Tuomiokirkkosilta. This project is very disliked among the inhabitants of Turku. The new bridge ruins the view (as you can see here) and it's also unnecessary, the distance between the two other bridges is only 500 meters. Another view from Auransilta, this time on the another side of the road. The big building on the river bank is the town hall. These boats are restaurants. They're very popular on summer. The another bridge that you can see here, in the distance is Teatterisilta and next to it is the Theater. And finally a view from Aurakatu (katu = street). The yellow building on the corner is Åbo Svenska Teater - the Swedish Theater of Turku - and on the opposite of it is Kauppatori, although it isn't visible on this photo. On top of the hill in the end of the street you can see the Art Museum. Did you notice that I kinda skipped the Cathedral? If the photos were in a somewhat logical order, it should've been between the court of appeal and the statue of Per Brahe. It's not there, because I'm going to write a separate post about it later. Best wishes, Gozer |

Hi Gozer!
Beautiful photo's again! Such a shame that they remove the cobblestones and placed an unnecesary bridge! Well, what can you do? Turku is a beautiful town, though! Love, your mum Emjay |

Hello Now I'll tell you a little bit of Turku Cathedral, which is one of the most notable historical buildings in Finland. It's also one of the best-known sights in Turku. The Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, the central church of the Archdiocese of Turku and the seat of the Archbishop of Finland. It was originally built out of wood in the 13th century. The wooden church was replaced by a new church built out of stone at the end of the 13th century. After that the Cathedral has been built, burnt and rebuilt several times in the course of its long history. The latest major damage was caused by the Great Fire in 1827. First we walked around the Cathedral and saw some interesting things. Here's a memorial for those, who died in the civil war in 1918. There are probably thousands of people buried in, under and around the Cathedral. Some of them have some kind of memorials, but most don't. Here's the tombstone of Henrik Gabriel Porthan. This one is a memorial for the Academia of Turku. Here's the statue of Mikael Agricola (1510 - 1557). He was a bishop of Turku and also the first person who translated the Bible in Finnish. He also wrote and translated the first books that were printed in Finnish. His work created the foundation of written Finnish, so he is known as the Father of written Finnish. Here's a view from the stairs of the Cathedral. I wanted to see the Cathedral from the inside, too, and jinxed said that it's ok to go in there and take some photos, so that's what we did. It turned out to be as huge as you can expect, quiet and very interesting. Memorials for people buried here. Some of them are difficult to read for different reasons. I think this little detail is actually very cute. A cat has left his/her paw prints on the floor tiles a long time ago. Notice the different tower here. That's how it was before the Great Fire. Now I've finally told you everything about what I saw and learned on Wednesday. Greetings, Gozer |

Hi mum! There was Christmas market at the Old Great Square today and from now on they will be there on every weekend until Christmas. I wanted to go there, but first I stopped at Vähätori, in the front of the old library. There seemed to be something going on. First I saw some firemen. They were there to tell about their job and also sharing information about safety with candles etc. Then I noticed some Shetland ponies. They were there, so children could ride a little. I wanted to try, too. It was fun. I liked the pony. The weather's getting colder. Probably I should have borrowed Teddy's hoodie or something. Luckily there was hot glögi for sale, so I bought some and walked to the river bank to drink it. Glögi is a hot drink with or without alcohol, kinda like mulled wine. It's a popular drink in Finland around Christmas. Then I was ready to continue walking towards the Old Great Square. Here's a view from Tuomiokirkkosilta. Santa Claus had gone for a break just before I arrived at the Old Great Square. Talk about bad timing.. Then I went to see what they had for sale at the market. There were different handicrafts, Christmas decorations, books and food. I ended up buying some sweets. There was something on the courtyard of Katedralskolan (Cathedral School, the building next to Brinkkala Mansion, is a Swedish-speaking school). Of course I went there, too. There were more products for sale. Then I noticed something amazing. A ram in front of a small cart gave rides for chilrdren. Guess what? I was allowed to go for a ride, too. It was fun. This is an alley between Brinkkala Mansion and Katedralskolan. And a painting on the wall of Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova. I walked a bit on the river bank again. Here's the Qwensell House and Pharmacy Museum. The house is from the early 18th century. It's located near the town hall. Sun was already setting. The temperature dropped to +1°C, not that it was much higher to begin with. I wonder when it drops below 0°C.. Besides the sunset, you can see here one of the restaurant boats and the theater behind it. I decided to go to cafe for nice, hot cappucino and whitechocolate lime cheesecake. It was yummy. Then it was time to go to see the opening of the Christmas street. Yliopistonkatu is the traditional Christmas street of Turku. I had to wait for a while among a lot of other people who had also come to see the opening. There was a parade and Santa Claus arrived, too. Sadly I have no photos of that because there were too many people in front of me. I was lucky to see glimpses here and there, but getting a photo was impossible. Then there were some speeches, which I didn't understand because they spoke only Finnish and Swedish. After that it was time to turn the Christmas lights on. I decided to take a few more photos, when I was walking towards the bus stop. Here you can see a small part of Kauppatori, Åbo Svenska Teater and a shopping center called Hansa. Here's a corner of Kauppatori, Åbo Svenska Teater again and KOP-kolmio, a building that's shaped like a triangle. (kolmio = triangle) Here's a view from Eerinkinkatu. You can catch a bus to anywhere in Turku from Kauppatori. When I got back to jinxed's home, I needed a hot drink again. Teddy made hot chocolate with marshmallows for us. We also ate some of those sweets that I bought from the market. Those sweets taste like peppermint, eucalyptus and coffee. I like the coffee flavored sweets most, but the others are yummy, too. Hugs, Gozer |

Hello mum! We had a nice surprise yesterday, when Rocky Raccoon arrived. It's great to meet him again. Finland gained independece from Russia on 06.12.1917, so today's a holiday to celebrate that. The Independece Day in Finland is usually a quiet day, spent with family and friends. Some people like to go to graveyards to honour those, who died defending the independece, when the Soviet Union tried to take over on Winter War in 1939 - 1940 and again on Continuation War in 1941 - 1944. The official festivities start with raising of the Finnish flag on Tähtitorninmäki in Helsinki. Of course the flags are raised everywhere in Finland, too. Then there's a religious service in the Helsinki Cathedral, which is also shown on TV. We chose not to watch that. Later on the day there will be a parade of the Finnish army, which will take place in different towns. This year the parade was held in Mikkeli. Too far away for us to go to watch it on the streets, but we watched a part of it on TV instead. In the evening there's the president's party. This year was different, because the party was held in Tampere instead of the Presidential Palace in Helsinki. That's because there are renovations going on in the palace. The party is shown on TV, too, so people can watch how all those who are invited shake hands with the president and what they are wearing. The people who got invited are usually veterans of Winter and Continuation Wars, politicians, celebrities such as musicians, actors and artists, other people who have succeeded in their field of work, etc. We watched a part of the party, too. It's traditional for Finnish people to light two candles on every window of their home. Due to the lack of suitable places near windows, we chose to burn candles on the living room table instead. After that we watched the 1955 version of Tuntematon sotilas (The Unknown Soldier). It's a Finnish movie based on a novel by Väinö Linna and it tells a story about a company in the Continuation War. Watching that movie is one of the Independence Day traditions, too, it's been shown on TV every year since 2000. The book and movie both are classics that every Finn should read and watch - and why not people from other countries, too. Best wishes, Gozer |

Hello Jinxed went to do some Christmas shopping to the town center. Rocky and I decided to tag along, although it was getting dark and raining a little. We stopped to watch the Christmas window of Stockmann. It was very nice with some moving animals. There were many children watching the window with their parents, too. Then we went to Christmas Market that was located at Kauppatori. Greetings, Gozer |

Hello Today we went to the cottage to look for a Christmas tree. It was more exciting and fun than just buying a tree from the parking lot of a nearby market. Of course you can't go to any forest and grab a tree that you like, it'd be stealing. Jinxed's parents own a part of the forest around the cottage, so it was fine for us to look for a Christmas tree in there. It looks like we won't get any snow for Christmas. Temperature is something around +5°C and it rains a lot. Feels like an autumn instead of a winter, which is kinda sad. Luckily the rain stopped while we were driving to Lieto. After a lot of searching we found a suitable tree before it started to get dark again. Greetings, Gozer |

Hi again! Today it was time to wrap the Christmas presents. Teddy, Rocky and I helped until we ran out of wrapping paper and jinxed had to go to buy some more. Best wishes, Gozer |

Merry Christmas! In Finland Christmas is celebrated already on Christmas Eve with family and/or friends. The traditional Christmas dinner includes different casseroles, ham, turkey, fish, and different salads. It's tasty and there's usually so much food that you end up eating it at least the whole Christmas. Santa Claus brings the presents, sometimes in person and sometimes he just leaves them under the Christmas tree. Hugs, Gozer |

Hello Yes, it's Turku Cathedral again. Here you can also see the huge Christmas tree in the front of the Cathedral. It's a yearly tradition to look for a huge and beautiful tree that would be worthy to become a Christmas tree for the Cathedral. And here's the reason for our quick visit. We wanted to see this Nativity Scene, it's made by an Italian artist and is in the Cathedral only for this Christmas time. Actually we wanted to see it already on Christmas, but didn't find enough time even for a quick visit. One more look towards Aurajoki and the Cathedral when we were already walking back to the car. Greetings, Gozer |

Hello The weather seemed to be sunny and nice, although somewhat cold. We decided to go out and have a walk in a nearby forest. Teddy was lazy and chose to stay at home. I told Rocky Raccoon and Emil that I've been in the forest earlier, so I could guide them around, if needed. This spruce was so huge that there wasn't any snow under it. We sat on a rock to enjoy the sunshine. This is an old forest and it's mostly left as it is, so you can see lots of old and fallen trees there. Here's one of those and you can also see the huge spruce a bit better. I was watching, when Rocky and Emil climbed on an old oak. I wanted to climb up there, too, but unfortunately I was too big to sit comfortably on the notches of the bark like the others did. We saw rabbits' tracks here and there, but no rabbits themselves. Maybe we were too scary for them to show up. It looked like they had searched something to eat here. Look at all this ice. It's quite artistic, isn't it? It was very slippery to sit on that rock, but we managed to get a good enough grip of the icicles. Here's one of the fallen trees. Looks like it has been lying on the path a long time. We had to climb over the trunk to be able to continue our adventure. We saw a somewhat funny-looking birch. It seemed to be ideal for building a treehouse. We couldn't resist climbing up. Despite all the walking and climbing we started to freeze, so we decided it's time to go back to jinxed's home and have some hot juice. Greetings, Gozer |

Hi mum! Today we went for a walk to Linnanpuisto (linna = castle, puisto = park) and the bank of Aurajoki. Linnanpuisto is surrounding Turku Castle, so that explains the name of the park. Turku Castle is another of the most notable historical buildings in Finland and it's also the oldest surviving medieval building in Finland. The castle was founded in the late 13th century and it's located near the mouth of Aurajoki. Originally the castle was built on an island, but the ground has ascended during the centuries so much that the island is fully connected to the mainland. The castle has been through a lot during it's long history. It's been built, burnt, rebuilt and extended many times. The latest major damage was caused by an incendiary bomb that hit the Medieval keep on 1941, when Soviet Union was air raiding Turku during the Continuation War. After that the castle has been renovated and restored to its 16th century glory. Now the castle is one of the most popular museum in Finland. That's what we saw, when we jumped out of the bus. The white part of the castle is the Renaissance bailey and behind it you can see the eastern tower of the Medieval keep. Here's the entrance to the courtyard. The courtyard, eastern tower and entrance to the Medieval keep. Here's an old well on the courtyard. Maybe there's still water in it. There's also a cafe in the Renaissance bailey. Seems that no one wants to sit outside in January, which I can understand. It's too cold. A view to the courtyard from the entrance tower. Look how thick the walls are. We wondered where this door leads. It's locked, so we couldn't find out. Here's the entrance to the castle. We didn't go there this time, because you can't see much of the inside without buying a ticket anyway. Here's a corner of the inner courtyard. After seeing the courtyards we wanted to see the castle walls from outside, too. Here you can see the two different parts of the castle. Here we are in the front of the western tower. The western side of the castle is probably most commonly seen in photos, postcards, etc. It's also know as the symbol of Turku. Here's the only round tower of Turku Castle. We also walked a bit on the bank of Aurajoki. There we saw some museum ships. Here's Suomen Joutsen (Swan of Finland) facing towards the sea. A nice view of Aurajoki. Here's another museum ship, Sigyn. She's facing towards the sea, too. It looks like she's been coverd for winter. This small ferry is called Föri. It transports people across the river for free. Greetings, Gozer |

Hey Rocky Raccoon told us that his mum has found a new host for him. So it's time for Rocky to continue his journey. It was time to say goodbye, but maybe we'll meet again. Who knows? Before Rocky crawled into his envelope, Emil, Teddy and I gave him some chocolates. Now he won't become too hungry before reaching his destination. Yours, Gozer |

Hello Today we had to wake up a lot earlier than usually, because we were going to catch a train at 7:00 am. Jinxed is going to a weekend trip to East-Finland to meet some relatives. Of course we wanted to tag along, it's a great opportunity to see another part of Finland. Here we are in the train somewhere between Turku and Pieksämäki. We saw lots of forests and lakes from the train and also some villages and a few towns. Greetings, Gozer PS. Emil says hello. |

Hello It turned out that our destination was Eno. It's a village in Pohjois-Karjala (North Karelia) that has been a part of the town of Joensuu since 2009. Today it was nice and sunny, but also very cold - something between -15°C and -20°C. No one wanted to stay outside, but we still went for a quick walk to the beach of lake Pielinen. The view there was very beautiful. Greetings, Gozer |
jinxed Posted Feb 4, 2014, 3:44 pm |
Hello Today it snowed almost the whole day. Here's more snow than in Turku. In the evening we went outside to play for a while, it wasn't as cold as yesterday. Here's an old well. Then we went inside a small building that turned out to be a sauna. It's an old sauna. First you have to carry the water inside and then boil some in the big cauldron by burning wood under it. The sauna stove is heated by burning wood, too. There's no showers, either. You're supposed to wash yourself in the sauna by mixing boiling and cold water in a wash basin. I think this kind of sauna is more atmospheric than the modern ones. Here you can see a part of the sauna stove in the corner and a part of the big cauldron in the front of those. Greetings, Gozer |

Hello Today it was time to travel back to Turku, which means sitting seven hours in a train again. There is a railroad station in Eno too, but the train won't go there anymore. That's why we had to go to Joensuu first and catch a train there. The train won't go straight to Turku either, so we had to change at Pieksämäki. Now we're back at jinxed's home in Turku. We all are tired, but happy. It was a nice trip to East-Finland. Best wishes, Gozer |
Emjay Posted Feb 4, 2014, 5:49 pm |
Hi Gozer & Emil,
Oof, that's a long time to sit in a train, but it was worth it! I'm happy it's not as cold here as in Finland! We have 7 degrees above zero, which is unusual for this time of year. It has been a very mild winter. Love, Emjay |

Hello Emil and I wanted to build a snowman, but I think it won't happen now. It's been somewhat rainy and temperature is something around 2°C. Snow has melted and Teddy said that it looks like April instead of late February / early March. Today it seemed to be nice enough day for a walk outside, so we decided to go to Ruissalo. Ruissalo is one of the islands that belong to Turku and it's also one of the most beatiful places here. Ruissalo is a protected area and a part of Natura 2000. We chose a path that leads to Kuuvannokka. There was a map on the parking lot, so we studied it a bit. The paths are marked well with the acorn signs or yellow dots on trees, so we didn't have to be afraid of getting lost in the forests. There were many fallen trees. Most of them were left as they were, because the area is protected and supposed to be as untouched as possible. Look how big burl this tree has. More fallen trees and their stumps. I like how the moss grows on them. The branches of this fallen tree had grown into new trees. When we arrived to Kuuvannokka, we found a nice place to rest a little. The rock was too huge to fit in the photo. Look, snow! Unfortunately it was too icy to build a snowman. We wanted to watch the sea for a while. It was somehow calming. This tree has found an interesting place to grow. I wonder how it manages to do that when there seems to be more rocks than anything else. I really enjoyed walking in the forest and on the cliffs. A day well spent, I think. Greetings, Gozer |

Hello Hanne Hü arrived here on Friday and today Mr. Moose came home. We all gatherd to eat the sweets that Hanne brought with her and to tell stories of our adventures. Greetings, Gozer |
jinxed Posted Mar 14, 2014, 3:02 pm |
Hi! It was time to go to explore Turku again. Mr. Moose said that he was still tired after traveling, so he chose to stay at home with Teddy. Emil, Hanne and I went to the town center by bus and then started to walk around. There isn't a part of Turku that'd be known as Old Town, but there are many old buildings here and there. Here's one of them. Opposite of that building there's Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum. It's a part of the town that survived the Great Fire on 1827. The wooden houses are still on their original places and are built on late 18th and early 19th century. In the museum you can see how people lived a long time ago and crafts from pre-industrial era are also presented there. Unfortunately the museum isn't open at this time of the year, so we couldn't go there. There are two open-air summer theaters in Turku. Here's one of them. It's located on Vartiovuorenmäki near the Handicrafts Museum. The shows here are usually mostly for children. There's quite a big park on Vartiovuorenmäki and we wanted to walk there for a while. It was quiet now, but it's a popular place for picnics on summer. On top of the hill is the old observatory. It's built on early 19th century, belonged to the Academy of Turku and was also one of the buildings that survived the Great Fire. After the fire the Academy was moved to Helsinki, astronomy followed a few years later and after that this building hasn't been used as an observatory. A nice view over the center of Turku. This old air defense cannon is a memorial for all those people who volunteered to defend their homes in Winter and Continuation Wars on 1939 - 1944. Greetings, Gozer |

Hello We rented a car and drove to Teide National Park which is also UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was fun and very interesting. Now we've seen El Teide, a volcano which still remains active and is the highest point of Spain. How awesome! Here we're taking a short break on our way up. Look, we're already above the clouds. I really liked the canary pines and lava rocks here. Look at those pine cones, they're bigger than us. We stopped to watch the view near the cable car that goes from the roadside to most of the way to the summit. The view was awesome enough here, so we decided not to go any further. We stopped to take some photos on our way down, too. Here you can see El Teide behind me. Here's another awesome view. And some nice flowers, too. Love, Gozer |

Hello It's our last day on Tenerife, so we wanted to go to the beach one more time. The waves were huge and we sat for a while watching them. Here I'm enjoying the evening sun at the balcony. Tomorrow at this time we'll be on our way back to Finland. By the way, here you can also see the neighbour island, La Gomera. Maybe I'll travel there one day, who knows? Warm greetings, Gozer |

Hello We were walking peacefully in a forest, when suddenly we noticed a monkey peeking from a hollow stump of a tree. He seemed friendly, so we went to talk to him. It turned out that he's Qah and he's a toyvoyager too. We invited him to join us. It's spring in Finland, too. Look at these flowers. They're growing here and there in small groups among all the old, fallen leaves. Beautiful. Huge old tree had snapped in two and the upper part had fallen down. The damage seemed to be quite recent, although the tree is very old and hollow. Perhaps the tree had finally gotten tired of standing still. Unfortunately it started to rain and we had to rush back to jinxed's before getting soaked. Best wishes, Gozer |

Hello It's one of the warmest days of this spring and sun is shining, so we decided to go to the riverbank for a walk. There are very nice walking routes following Aurajoki (joki = river). The river on this photo is Vähäjoki, a smaller river that flows into Aurajoki. It looks like we're on the countryside, but actually we walked only a couple of kilometers away from the town center. Soon after crossing that bridge we arrived to Koroistenniemi. Here's a sign telling something about the area. This is a historically notable area: an old trading post and a church where the diocese of Finland was located before Turku Cathedral was built. The diocese was then moved to the Cathedral on year 1300 or so. A view towards Vähäjoki. And a view of Koroistennimi. The white cross marks the place, where the church and the diocese were located. The river on this photo is Aurajoki and you can almost see the place, where Vähäjoki joins it. If you look carefully, you can see the tower of Turku Cathedral, too. There isn't much left of the buildings anymore. You can seen some remains here and there, though. Mr. Moose and Teddy arrived later and we gathered on a big stone that's probably been one of the foundation stones of the church. We talked a lot, enjoyed the nice weather and had fun, but nothing lasts forever and soon it was time to say good bye. It's time for me to continue my journey. Good bye my friends, maybe we'll meet again one day. Best wishes, Gozer PS. Mum, when you're reading this, I have already started my jounery towards the UK and new adventures. |

Hi mum!
After spending a few days to myself relaxing ( my new host Niki has been very busy revising for exams ) Niki was finally free to take some pictures of me and my newest friend matcha. We had some guests over for dinner so we helped Niki our making her favourite meal, sweet and sour. Niki has a taste for Chinese food, but prefers to make it her own way. First we helped her brown off the chicken ( we didn't want anyone getting food poisoning!) We then added the sauce. It was store bought, because Niki explained that she was hopeless at making her own! We let it cook for a while before plating it up for our guests. Looks delicious! Bye for now, I hope to update you soon! Gozer |

Hi!
It was Niki's birthday the other day so we had to celebrate. She's been very busy lately so It was nice to have a day off! In the morning we helped her to open her birthday presents which were wrapped with lovely green paper. I had so much fun helping her rip it off! Later on we then ate cake ( which was eaten too fast for us to have a picture taken with it, it was delicious!) and went to the cinema to see x-men with Niki and her family. The film was great and the nachos were tasty! Bye for now, Gozer |
