Hey, it works!

Now Mini is able to upload photos and Fred can start to tell about his visit.

At the moment there is Christmas everywhere! The Christmas tree in Minis house and the one at her colleges room in the office.

Of course there are Christmas markets everywhere and we visited the one in the center of Essen. There is a big ferris-wheel.

I will post some more things soon!

I have met Minis dog. Her name is Ronja and she is very old, 15 Years! But she is very nice.

Here is a lamp looking like a bear and some other crazy stuff. You can see that Mini really loves helicopters.

Christmas days were so nice. A lot of presents and a lot of food... :) The decoration is very nice and a good playground ;)

Mini showed me the little 'window of postcards' were her mother stores all the cards from the family. Some are from Mini, other for example from her brother.

Hi there!

I have finally arrived to California, hurray! I can't wait to look around and see if this place is really as sunny and beautiful as I heard. Luckily it's Friday which means the weekend is coming and I will probably have some fun.

Meanwhile I'm stuck at the office with my new host Marina. It's not a bad place though. Here am I at Marina's desk with all the Xmas and New Year cards she received from her friends postcrossers.

Today Marina took me to Danville to the German Shepherd rescue group's adoption event. It was such a fun! I met lots of beautiful dogs and got tons of kisses. Can't even imagine how these amazing dogs could possibly be abandoned and neglected... Anyway they all are going to find their loving families. Maybe I could adopt a dog too when I come back home, who knows.

Today we made a fascinating trip to Mount Diablo. Despite of its scary name, this is actually a very nice scenic place!

I wish we could go hiking there but one of our team members didn't qualify. Marina told me that dogs are not allowed on unpaved trails in most of US state parks because of the wild life. First, it didn't make much sense for me. But I changed my mind when we met a wild fox on our way back home.

We could still enjoy the scenic drive and look around at many vista points. We also had a nice little picnic under the big tree. Eventually, I liked our weekend adventure a lot!

It's been already a week since I arrived to California. And today is the first cloudy day. We went to Laurel street in San Carlos to check Marina's mailbox at the post office. We also took a couple pictures with a weird statue in the city park.

Hurray, we went hiking here! The whole family - Marina, her husband Pavel, Malysh the German Shepherd and Hop the Bunny - everyone except Fedor the Cat. He prefers his warm and cosy place at home. We walked the trails among the amazing giant redwoods which smelled so good! Unfortunately, there was no streams this time cause this winter is extremely dry, there has been no rain and no snow in the mountains. But anyway I really liked our Saturday adventure!

PS. Oops, I've written the wrong date on the 1st pic, sorry :)

Hi there! Today we went to San Francisco Zoo with Marina and her friend Reanna, and of course HOP. Reanna had a birthday so she invited her friends and family to have some fun at the zoo, and we did! We saw many exotic animals - lemurs, and flamingoes, and tigers. And also we watched penguin feeding, Marina has recorded a video: http://youtu.be/vFU1kUuRG3w The weather was warm and sunny at the beginning but suddenly it became windy and foggy, we all was frozen. But anyway I liked this adventure a lot, and so did HOP.

Finally! Today my greatest dream has come true - I saw the famous Golden Gate Bridge with my own eyes! I'm so excited! Marina took a few pictures of me, and I must admit I wasn't so easy because there was much fog which hid the bridge. Marina had to be on the alert to catch the moment when the fog dispersed just for few seconds. I was freezing but it was totally worth it. Now I'm ready to travel further...

Hi there everyone! It's Fred - this time from Finland :D My new host Tuija got me out of the envelope and I found out that I had landed in her colourful living room, and two other TVs, Prajna and Rachel were greeting me.
I showed them the card that marina had included in the envelope and I told my new friends about the great Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco which is now over eight thousand kilometres away... It's crazy how big this globe is, really. Makes you dizzy if you think about it too much ;)

Anyway, everything's just fine here. Thank you, Marina, for mailing me safely!

Greetings to Mommy <3

Hi mom!

Today we visited a very exciting place here in Kajaani. There are ruins of an old castle which was built in the 1600's to function as an administrative centre, a prison, and a fort. It got unfortunately blown up during a war about one hundred years later but the ruins remained and today they are a sight for anyone to visit anytime.

The castle is located on a small island in the middle of Kajaani River which flows through the city centre.

There were dungeons... Better not try any tricks so you won't have to come and pay ransom for me  ;)

Lastly, we viewed he river. There was another small island there.

Happy (belated) St. Patty's Day wishes!  :cyclops:

I engaged in a rather different way to celebrate that day by having a taste of very traditional food from eastern Finland. Look how funny!!

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hHw_AjBIP-Y/UzP_Nz--JmI/AAAAAAAAA2o/AInyFuAVx6A/s1600/IMG_4528.JPG

These pies are called rönttöset. They have a rye crust and a sweetened mashed potatoes & lingonberry filling. They taste exceptionally nice heated up and with a touch of butter on the sides.

March 21 and 22.

On our first morning in Helsinki we took off to see an exhibition about Charles Chaplin! It was very cool - lots of photographs, posters, newspaper articles and video clips from and about his life, films and career. but unfortunately we couldn't take pictures of it. Well, never mind that! In the lobby there was a huge cardboard Chaplin (actually, the famous character of his, the Tramp) and I got to pose with it :D

On both days we took walks (and tram rides) around the city. Here's what we saw!

Traffic... (It was quite light, though.. :P But let's not underestimate the liveliness of this place! 500,000 inhabitants may be a small amount in the world's scale but this is actually the biggest city in Finland.)
