My mother has finally uploaded a picture of me and helped me started a travelog! I am so excited to travel around the world, and see and experience different cultures!

But my mother is only starting to look for hosts who are willing to show me around their hometown, so until hosts have been decided, I shall be patient and wait!

Hello there! I am currently on my way to my first host, Mizzery, in Germany~ It's a little stuffy here in the packaging, but I can manage. Mum has packed me off with my bear passport as well so I can go through customs safely.

Looking forward to arriving in Germany. As for now, it's time for a long, long nap...

Hello mommy!

Today I arrived in Germany! The trip was good but it was a bit uncomfortable in the envelope! But don't worry, I'm fine!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2077/2261064750_9e980a8bcd.jpg

The first one I met here in Germany (after my host of course) was Auggie, another toyvoyager! He's a really nice little Alien and we became friends immediately!

Auggie showed me the whole apartment and the places he likes most here.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2101/2261066254_f2b94d957f.jpg

Unfortunately, the cats here weren't that happy with our choice for a place to rest.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2256/2261066868_5e69f8528f.jpg

So Auggie and I continued our tour through the apartment. We were a little scared by the decoration of the living room and wanted to hide but our host, Mizzery explained that their's no reason to be frightened as the swords on the wall are just part of their equipment for their historial reenactment group.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2306/2260272927_ebbc22e1fe.jpg

And then it was already time to start our trip to the Netherlands. We were very excited to be in two different countries on one day!

The drive by car to Enschede was very long and we needed a little break so we decided to make a little stop and go for a walk for a moment.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2161/2261062606_5403f0bcaf.jpg

The first thing we saw in Enschede was a really really big red shoe. Auggie was scared, he thought they have giants in the Netherlands and he wanted to hide in Mizzerys bag, but I was cool!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2071/2261063648_8a48147976.jpg

But he calmed down and we tried to learn more about the Netherlands by reading the newspaper.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2046/2260270845_39e608e72a.jpg

What we liked best was not the famous market in Enschede we visited but a pretty huge wallpainting.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2247/2260270629_da3b17301f.jpg

In the Evening, when we returned to our apartment, I was sooooo tired that I immediately fall asleep!

After a few days chilling at home, we planned a trip to Münster, a pretty big town close to Greven.

So we had to say goodbye to our new friends (a little bunch of dragons) to accompanie our host to the city.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2385/2261067270_f78ebdda12.jpg

As we wanted to see more of the countryside of the region we decided to go by train instead of going by car.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2318/2269975412_3f42899682.jpg

One thing, thats very special about Münster is that they have many many churches here. The people always say in Münster either the church bells are ringing or its raining!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2141/2269972502_fdbceaffcc.jpg

Next thing we visited the castle, next to the university of Münster.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2144/2269177659_67d1dc7465.jpg

We spend some minutes walking through the castle gardens and afterwards went to " das blaue Haus" (the blue house) a famous restaurant here in Münster.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2268/2269178419_745de645a4.jpg

Soon we were very tired by the long walk and we paused at a fountain.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2269/2269967462_d77475dcdd.jpg

But we weren't finished with our trip yet. After the break we made our way to the city hall. It's a very very old building in the center of Münster. It's kind of amazing that such old buildings are next to the modern ones and the shopping streets.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2220/2269176039_71c8dca856.jpg

And a few other interesting places...

Ok, mommy. As you can see I'm feeling perfectly fine here in Germany! But I'm already missing you a lot! Greetings to all!

This week the weather is very bad so we had to stay at home.

But that shouldn't be a problem there are so many funny things to do at home.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2297/2289047304_d78c5a9c72.jpg

At first we played a little hide and seek....

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3081/2289052564_a598f3222b.jpg

It really wasn't easy for our host to find us!

And I was really surprised that they have sooo  many dragons here in Germany...

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2075/2288265363_f8ef08ecf1.jpg

Afterwards We had to do some housework... we were a great help for our host in finding the pairs out of single socks...

Today it kept on raining and we thought about what to do...

We decided to draw a few paintings. As the paper is so huge I took us a few hours to finish but it was really funny!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3186/2289063224_94ab159519.jpg

Then our host decided to teach us a little German.
And with the help of the dictionarys we learned a few sentences.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2325/2288267617_04105de18b.jpg

I'm on holidays in Germany - Ich mache Urlaub in Deutschland
I'm a Toyvoyager - Ich bin ein Toyvoyager
I travel around the whole world - Ich reise um die ganze Welt

But to study the whole day is to boring and we wanted to listen to some German music to see how much we can understand.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2308/2288257931_533d448e19.jpg

In the evening we wanted to watch a DVD but it was really hard to decide on ONE movie. Unfortunately there are no movies with aliens, dogs, marmots and bears all in one...

Now, we are well acquainted with the cats here and they we are even allowed to share the bed with them!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2178/2289050200_ffb8825710.jpg

We are good friends now!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2369/2288267741_569cd12586.jpg

But you can't stay in bed all day. So we made a toyvoyagers battle on playstation.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2302/2288263673_914a5bfded.jpg

To sad, Auggie isn't good in playing such games... his armes are toooo short.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3092/2288270719_8a625d5264.jpg

That's why we decided to do something everyone can do: we started to read for a little while.

As it's the last day of Auggie and me spending in Germany, we wanted to look in our hosts postcrossing collection to learn more about the countries we are going to. We were so fascinated by the cards that we started to build a card house. We started with a small one...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3065/2288271461_eb9bd42757.jpg

and then we made it higher and higher...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3080/2289062530_dc3d302e68.jpg

but it's not easy to build a card house when a little cat is around...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3170/2288268493_00c66d58a3.jpg

So, unfortunately all broke down before we achieved to build a house of all cards..

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3149/2288261019_dd3de3913d.jpg

then it was time to say goodbye for Auggie and me, so we made one last visit to Siggi who's a huge Viking worrior living in our hosts apartment.

Hello everybody!

Two days ago I arrived in Groningen. Margreet was smiling when she got me out of the envelope. I was too. Ready for some more adventures.
The first two days have been fine. Margreet did have to go to work but that was OK. So I have been exploring the house.
She will take my picture in front of the house when it stops raining because I don't like rain that much.
This picture is of a chair that sits very good.
Tomorrow I will be visiting Margreet her parents and her little nephew who is 4.5 years old. He is staying there for a few days.
Next week Margreet will take me into the city and we will try to take some pictures of nice buildings. One of them is a very high tower. I don't know if we will be climbing it. But we will see. Margreet is a little afraid of heights.

Well bye for now. I will write again soon.

Hugs and kisses (especially for my mum) from Alfred

Hello again!

Today I am back again in Groningen. Margreet visited her parents. Also her nephew was visiting there. And of course we made some pictures.

On the first one I am all set to go from Groningen to Leeuwarden.

On the next one Dennis and I are playing with Lego.

The third one was this morning. Dennis woke up at 5 am and was still a little tired at 9 am. But we can't get him to understand he should sleep a little longer in the morning.

We made this with Lego. Isn't it nice?

All this playing made us thirsty.

Back home in Groningen reading the newspaper. A baby elephant is born in Emmen.

With a nice plant Margreet got for her birthday from her friend Margreet (yes, the same name).

Hello everybody!

It's me again. Still having fun in Groningen. All though the weather has been a bit weird these days. Sun, rain, wind, hail. I had hoped for a rainbow, but didn't see one.
Margreet has been busy this past week. The last few days she had to study and had to deal with the taxes. Not much fun for her but I got to help and we had a lot of fun.
Also I got a picture with her house and car.

Mum! Good news. I got to complete a life mission! This morning when Margreet opened the curtains, there was snow! It was not much snow and it melted away during the day. So I hope this counts. But I got to touch snow!
Margreet

Posted Mar 5, 2008, 7:33 pm
And today Margreet took me with her to work. She had a lesson day. And at the end she had to do a test. 40 multiple choice questions. She wasn't too happy with the result. 13 mistakes. And this test counts! Hopefully just a pass. Thumbs up! It was a really difficult test by the way. I didn't have a clue what the questions were about. I wasn't much help.
After work we went into town and Margreet showed me some beautiful buildings!

The first one is the city hall of Groningen.

The second one is a tower which is part of a church. You can climb it. We were too late for that. Margreet told me about the view. She climbed the tower just before I arrived. I didn't mind we didn't do that. I think I am afraid of heights. This tower is also the main view of Groningen city.

The last one is Groningen train station. It was rather busy with traffic as you can see. And some people were looking funny at us for making the picture with me in it. I can't imagine why.

Hello again!

A little Alfred update. No pictures this time. But only a little story. Margreet has invited me to stay a little longer. Because she likes very much my being here. We don't do a lot of outdoor activity. But that's ok. She has a very nice place.
And it was ok with my mum.
Today she showed two lamps she has. You only have to touch the stand and it goes on and off.
Yesterday evening we watched a show called 'dancing queen' and I was wondering if a show like that is also in other countries. It's like the show where they search for new singing talent. That one is called 'idols' in the Netherlands.
But in this one they are looking for new dancing talents.
Last week I went with her to work. But I stayed in her bag. Margreet didn't think her colleagues would understand it. But I got to hear some things. Margreet works as a nurse on a neonatal intensive care unit. There are really tiny babies there. She has taken care of two little ones this week.
One of them only weighs 900 grams. Really tiny. But he can scream if he doesn't feel very well. Today it was because he didn't like what he had in his nappie. Margreet told me about the smallest nappies. I asked her to bring one home. So I can show you.
Well, that's all for now. I will try to write again soon.

Love Alfred :)

Hello again!

It has almost been two weeks here in Groningen. One more week to go.
This weekend Margreet will be visiting her sister together with her parents.
Margreet and her dad will be walking (not running) a marathon in june and have to practise for that a bit. They might take a walk when visiting Margreet her sister. Of course I can go with them on that walk. Maybe I can talk them into taking a route that passes a beach. That would be great.
And have I told you already what Margreet will be doing shortly after that marathon? She is going on holiday and will be taking a course parachute jumping. She will try to add a picture of what it looks like. Well, that is not a life mission for me. Who in their right mind will jump out of an airplane just for fun?
Oh, I found a new drink I like. A banana and a kiwi in the blender. Mix it and add a milk like drink. Yummie!

Hello again!

A very nice weekend we had. Saturday we went to visit Margreet her sister who lives in Leiden. Margreet and her father did take that walk but it wasn't too the beach. There wasn't enough time for that. But I did get to meet all the children of her sister. But they were so excited Margreet was a little afraid of taking a picture of me with them. But we had a good time. With 3 little children in the house there were a lot of toys there. Ilse has a toy cat. He was really nice to play with. And Dennis likes the computer a lot. And he teached me how to play some games. Laura, the baby, was having fun just looking at us.

Here is a picture of me in the fruit bowl. Remember I told you about my new favorite drink?

And here is also a picture of Margreet with Dennis, Ilse and Laura. She loves those kids a lot.

And so my trip to the Netherlands is almost over. Margreet told me I am travelling to England soon. I am looking forward to that a lot too. The ride will be comfortable I think because the envelope has bubbles.

Hello again!

A short message this time. I am really tired now and Margreet is too. So we will be sleeping soon.
I want to have two good nights of sleep before I will be travelling to the UK. Yes, only two more nights here. Today Margreet brought home the smallest size nappies. You cannot get them in the stores. These are meant for babies who weigh less than 1000 grams. Margreet's nephew Dennis couldn't believe it was a nappie. He thought it was a handkerchief. Well, of course I wanted to try them on.
The picture is the result.

Love, Alfred.

Hello!

This time a message from me, Margreet. I am a bit sad today because I just took Alfred to the postoffice and left him there. So he is on his way to the United Kingdom.
Debbie, here he comes!
Alfred kept me good company these last days. I was sick because I had some bad chocolate this weekend.
Alfred wanted me to tell his mum that he misses her a lot, but is having a really good time on his adventures. Alfred really is a happy bear.
I also added some pictures of his good bye.

Greetings Margreet :)

I have finally arrived in the UK on Saturday. It was a long and cold journey, I dont know why it took so long but it was nice to get here. On Sunday morning we woke up to snow, there is a picture below but I didn't want to go out in it.
On Monday and Tuesday Debbie had to go to university where she is doing part of her nurse training. I stayed behind and kept her other housemates company.
On Wednesday we went to the park and I watched Debbie's nephews Adam, Andrew and Luke playing football. Yesterday I went round their house and helped Luke eat some of his Easter Eggs that he had left over from Easter. There are some pictures below of me and Luke, he has dirty knees because he had been playing football again. It is his favourite game. Today it has rained a lot but we are hoping for better weather tomorrow so that we can go out to Windsor.
Edited by Debbie to say I am having trouble uploading pictures but will find out what I am dong wrong and then upload them.

I have been to help Debbie on her allotment a lot. We have planted potatoes, onions, broad beans, carrots and radishes. We have picked rhubarb. The roof came of Debbie's shed in the high winds that we had and a lot of things in there have got wet.

Tonight has been very exiting and I have completed one of my missions. Debbie was eating her dinner and telling me about her day. It had got very stormy outside and there was lots of rain and thunder. Debbie looked out of the window and saw that there was a rainbow. She rushed for her camera and managed to get some pictures.
