Once upon a time there was a pink cow living in one 0f the 9 islands of the Azores archipelago.

One sunny day Penvmbra was taking a walk and breathing some fresh air and that's when she met Mumu.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Mumu/01/DSCF2043.jpg

Mumu showed her the amazing place where she lived and introduced some of her friends:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Mumu/01/DSCF2130.jpg

But then Penvmbra realised that Mumu haven't met many places and invited her to travel the world...

That's when the adventure begins  B)

After traveling in a car for the first time in her life, Mumu went to Penvmbra's place and met toy voyagers who  told her how amazing it was to travel to other people's houses and be their guests.

With Migui+Gui and Margarida she learn a bit about the island where she used to live:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1759.jpg

But to stay at home was a pity with one of the best beaches in the world by our side:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Mumu/01/DSCF1626.jpg

The beaches aren't too big, but the sand is like velvet, the water is very clean and the air very pure :)

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Mumu/01/DSCF2136.jpg

One day she went to Maia, a small place by the sea, and she found these ducks living there freely:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1776.jpg

She found this baby is soooo cute  :cyclops:

Hm...and they were offered grapes from the region ;)

The typical boat:

The sunset:

Those are typical tools used in the ancient times: the mill wheels and the jars to store food and drink:

In this place Cristopher Colombus stoped on his way to Europe, after discovering America:

In these islands there is a tradition of serving a special soap in honor of the Holy Spirit.
The soap is served for free to anyone who wants to come in and is made like in the ancient times, with home made bread and meat from the cows of the people there:

Eating the soap:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2128.jpg

Mumu introduced to his new friends some members of her family.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2129.jpg

It is amazing to be surrounded by sea:

Look ate the color of the sand there:

And this is Faneco, the dog she met:

Today is a warm day and Mumu took the opportunity to go to a calm place, 2 hours from Lisbon, to relax and enjoy the Nature.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Mumu/02/DSCF2528.jpg

The place is called Barrage of Vale dos Gaios.
There was no one there, so Mumu mounted her tend and spend the whole day enjoying the place, hearing the birds and bathing. :)

I have arrived today in The United States of America! I am in a small town called Richlands and I am in the state of North Carolina.  My new host was happy to see me and loved getting a post card from my owner! I also came with my own journal which my host will gladly update.  I am going to go take a nap after my long flight I am a bit tired and then I will add some photos.

I have my photos now! The first ones are of me arriving in Richlands NC
I got too meet all the other toys that live in the house and boy there are a lot!! My favorite friend is the Atlanta Braves Bear and also the Camel that my host's husband sent her from Djibouti, Africa where he is deployed right now.  I also got to meet the dogs Daisy the Boston Terrier and Thumper the Pug.  Thumper has lots of her own friends and I have to stay up and away from her or she wants to try and carry me around!!  My host is a HUGE baseball fan and she loves The Atlanta Braves.  She drives down to Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia a few times a year to go watch the Braves play.  The drive is about 5 hours from here. My host had to drive to Greenville today so I got in the car for the first time.  I got to go sneak in a ultraound room today while my host had her neck ultrasounded.  When the Tech left the room I snuck behind the machine!!!  After the ultrasound visit we went to the Smoothie Shop and I got a Banana and chocolate smoothie and boy was it good!!  After that we drove back home and passed through a little town called Kinston.  Kinston is home to historical Grangier Stadium where the Kinston Indians triple *A* ball team plays.  I tried to go inside the stadium but I JUST missed baseball season so I could not go in but I did look around a bit!!

After we left the stadium I got to drive the car home!! we almost stopped at a Cow Farm but it started raining so hard that we just came home.  The last photo is of me sitting on the steps of my new home!!! I heard we are going to Las Vegas next Wednesday!!! My host is flying me FIRST CLASS and I am going to go gambling in the casinos!!! I cant wait!!  :p

I didnt get to play craps or blackjack as the dealer warned my host that no photos are to be taken  :cyclops: but I had a fantastic time! I went from the Jacksonville NC airport to Atlanta, Georgia then from there we got on a huge plane and I got to sit in first class!! Margaritas for MuMu and movies all the way to Vegas!!!  I am sharing below my photos from my big adventure! I sure did have a fun time!! I got to have a window seat from Jacksonville to Atlanta.  You can see me looking out the window and then you can see the Skyscrapers of Atlanta as we landed into Atlanta.  Then we got on a huge jet and took off for Vegas, you can see me in my room on my big king size bed, my 52 inch flat screen TV and my nice spa like bathroom!! I went to breakfast the next morning and Im sitting in front of Keno!!! yes you can gamble 24/7 even while having breakfast!! hahahaha!  I also took two hours to find a MUMU slot machine!! can you believe they had a Cow slot machine?  The picture out the window was during the daytime and thats Mandalay Bay and The Luxor pyramid hotel you see.  Vegas is a 24/7 party town and I would love to go back someday!!

Last night was the BIG playoffs to see who is going to go to the world series for the American league.  The National League already has the big winner of the Philadelphia Phillies.  Darcie's favorite team The Atlanta Braves did not make it this year into the playoffs so she was rooting for The Tampa Rays to beat the Boston Red Sox.  We all gathered around the TV with my new favorite snack.. Chedder cheese Pringles!! If Florida would of won then they would of advanced right to the world series!!! Florida was winning 7 to zero against the Boston Red Sox BOOOO!!!!  Darcie does not like the Boston red sox and either do the other toys in the house.  Anyways the game got very exciting and Boston caught up and tied the game.. then they got one more run and they won.  We stayed up till 1 am watching the game and tommorro is the next game and we are hoping The Florida Rays will win!!  Here are some photos of me and my friends watching the game!! Towards the end you can see Big Papi getting interviewed, he is a star hitter for The Boston Red Sox and got them going back with a big home run, hitting in two runs.  Im having a lot of fun here in North Carolina.  Not much going on but Im relaxing and enjoying my new friends.

Hi Mom! Last night The World series started! The Philadelphia Phillies against The Tampa Bay Rays.  We stayed up till 1am and The Phillies won game one.  They will play the best out of seven games.  Im rooting for the Tampa Bay Rays to win!! I also am getting ready for Halloween!! Darcie lives in a big neighborhood where a ton of kids will be by dressed up in costumes going Trick Or Treating.  The kids will come to the door and ring it and then say *trick or treat* then they will get lots of candy.  I went to Walmart with her to buy the Candy and wow its going to be a fun night! Usually Darcie decorates up the entire house but since her husband is away she could not get up in the attic to drag down all the heavy boxes! we are still going to have so much fun I am going to help hand out Candy to all the kids! here are some photos of what I did today.  Not much is going on but Im having a fun time.  I sat next to the Halloween flowers that Darcie got from her mom who lives out in Sacramento, California, I went and watched the Fish swim in the tank and then I went out to the garage and got on the Scooters!! I had so much fun!! Hope you are well mom and talk to you soon!

A few nights ago the Philadelphia Phillies won the world series! Me and the other toys all watched and it was sooo exciting to see the team at the end of the game because they were sooo happy!! Last night was Halloween! I handed out candy and I also ate some Butterfingers, Paydays, Crunch bars and my new favorite Whoppers!!  It was very cold so Darcie made a fire for us to sit in front of and stay nice and cozy.  I saw lots and lots of kids in costumes.  I saw lots of scary ones with light up masks and also lots of Disney costumes like Cinderella and Sully from Monsters Inc.  Halloween is really fun!!

Hi Mum!
today I arrived in Hameln. Guess what, the German customs checked me. Don't know why. But I was already await by Phex and Chris the Cat. Now I'm finally here. It is cold in Germany, only around 0°C. The last days it snowed a bit, but my Mum said that we won't have the time to play in the snow as it'll melt tomorrow and today we are going on a concert of this band: Schandmaul (a german medieval rock band). But my Mum said that she won't take a camera with us as she thinks there are no pics allowed..
here you can see pics when I arrived:

Hey Mum!
today we were at the parents of my host mum. They are living in Seggebruch, a small village between Bückeburg and Stadthagen. It has only 2000 inhabitants. But it rained most of the time, so spent most time in the house. We watched Harry Potter and played some games. And here I'm first drinking a tea as it was so cold outside:

Hi Mum!

Today we visited an abbey in Loccum. Here you can read a bit about in German and English.
Loccum is near Wasserstraße. It is not a big town, more a village, but it is famous for the abbey. There is also a pilgrimage road to Loccum which starts in Volkenroda. My host mum said, that two of her friend walked this way in September. It tooks 300 km..

Today we were in Stadthagen, a city in the district of Schaumburg. My hostmum lived here for 3 years and she also went to school here in her youth. We have seen some old buildings:
This is the castle in Stadthagen (built 1534), now there is the  financial office in it

and later we made a walk through Wasserstraße before the Santa Clause (in German: Weihnachtsmann) arrived. My hosts son Fynn (who is 6 years) was so excited. The Santa Clause brought him a lot of toys and books. ;) In Germany, Santa is coming on the evening of 24th December.

hey Mum!
You won't believe it, but in Hameln it is really cold outside. We have -15°C at night and it was -10°C at the day.. it is the coldest winter since 20 years my host mum said.. but it also snowed, so we went sledging. :D it is the last day for chris here in Hameln and tomorrow he'll leave for England, but we enjoyed our day:

Today another toyvoyager arrived here. It is Dottie Mouse. She is coming from Germany, but was in Teneriffe before. It must be a shock to be in this cold weather now. ;) She wants to see rats in Hameln. It must be great to see a town full of his relatives. I think we'll have a lot of fun with her.

3 days ago we celebrated the birthday of my hosts son. He got 7 years old. And today they made a childrens birthday party with 6 other children. They made a little pirate party out of it, with a pirate cake and treasure hunt. Here you can see us with the pirate cake, doesn't it look great and delicious?

This weekend wasn't so nice. The weather was good, but my host mum was ill and my host dad had to write for his diploma. That's why we walked through the flat and wanted to look what we should do.
Here I am with the big map and the postcrossing cards in the living in room:
http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355663_8652.jpg
I also found a card from Portugal and UK:
http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355669_531.jpg
http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355670_840.jpg
Then we found all the crystals which my host mum collects, they should help with different health problems:
http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355674_2060.jpg
And we didn't know what we should watch, Dottie wanted to see LotR, Harold wanted to see Star Trek, Peti wanted to watch Gilmore Girls and I wanted to see a horror movie:
http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355677_2994.jpg
so we decided to play a game, but there where so many games again, that we didn't know which we should take, it seems our host mum is board game addict:
http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355678_3317.jpg
so we looked for a book:
http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355679_3647.jpg
and the we read all our own books, I took the "mists of avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley:
http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355680_3986.jpg
And later we thought of making decos, those are little booklets which are sent through the world:
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355681_4288.jpg
This is a full booklet:
http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355682_4597.jpg
And here we are decorating one:
http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2126/14/68/542673891/n542673891_1355683_4933.jpg
It was a nice weekend finally as we had a lot to do.. ;)

but the concert was great..

I had been asked, if I would like to go on a little walk with my host and her daughter through streets of Bruchsal and of course I said yes.

This is the baroque church St. Peter, which is only a few meters from our home.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4702272935_efb549216b_b.jpg

Here's what I read on the sign, which is fixed next to the church entrance: The Church of St. Peter is an original building of the 18th century and was not destroyed during World War II. The church was designed by the world famous baroque architect builder Balthasar Neumann.
The cementary (we will go there another day) behind it is a beautiful place for peaceful , contemplative walks and its numerous memorials also provide an insight into the history of Bruchsal and its people.

This is a view into one of the few streets with old houses. Peter and Paul guide the street.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4014/4702273035_c13a513ed9_b.jpg

This time we walked down the stairs to go to the Saalbach.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4702273289_f6f91837d2_b.jpg

There are beautiful houses along the way. Most old houses were destroyed during the world war, but there are still some left. Do you see the house in dark red? There is a beer garden.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4055/4702273381_67203a7d34_b.jpg

My hosts love to sit in this beer garden on summer evenings, although they say, that they don't get the chance to go there really often.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1293/4702907968_3e3884f95a_b.jpg

That's a nice house, isn't it?

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4025/4702908070_82de97a6c6_b.jpg

This building complex is the former slaughterhouse of Bruchsal. It was built in  1908. It is built in art nouveau stile and is under monument protection. Since several years there is a restaurant and stage for cabaret and music events.

Let me read, what's written on the sign:
Images of St. John of Nepomuk , the patron saint of bridges, can be found throughout Europe either on bridges themselves or nearby. The Bruchsal statue of Nepomuk was created around 1780, possibly by Tobias Günther, a well-known artist of his time.

Today we went to the Bruchsal palace. It is colder again, but still we have sun. The weather phenomenon we have right now is called Schafskälte (sheeps cold). It is a cold spell around 11th June (between 4th and 20th June) in Middle Europe, which affects especially Germany. The Schafskälte doesn't occur each year. Due to cold and moist air from north west the temperature drops to 5 to 10 °C. So far about the weather:)

The palace of Bruchsal was residence of the prince bishop of Speyer. It was built on request of prince bishop Damian Hugo Philipp von Schönborn-Buchheim from 1720 on in baroque stile. It was destoyed on 1rst March 1945, when about 80% of Bruchsal was destroyed and many people lost their lives. It was reconstructed in the years around 1970, but the church part was created in modern stile:(

There are several interesting museums in the palace: City Museum, Stone Age Museum and the
German Museum of Musical Automata

There are two long alleys with chestnut trees.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4057/4714483530_a2d2a83b0e_b.jpg

On the right side is the church part of the palace complex. You only see a small part of the shadow, but it looks like the opposite complex with the chamber music room.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4016/4716206659_edff725d5c_b.jpg

I will read, what's written on the sign: This fountain was built in memory of Marchioness Amalie von Baden (1754 - 1832), spouse of margrave Karl Ludwig von Baden. She found her place in history as "mother-in-law of Europe", because she managed to marry five of her six daughters off to the most powerful prince's palaces of Europe. When she was widowedshe made Schloss Bruchsal one of her homes in the year 1806. She died there in 1832.
The fountain was planned by Prof. Dr. Fritz Hirsch (1871 - 1938) in 1912. He was in charge of the redecoration of the Schloss Bruchsal in the early days of the 20th century.

Just turning around you see the main entrance of the palace.

At the same place we took a photo of the church part.

At the one entrance of the church you can see photos of the destroyed palace and church.

This is the backside of the church and the church tower. The other buildings also belong to the palace area.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4049/4714485376_165e042ef7_b.jpg

Here we are at the backside of the palace. There are three nice fountains.

We're baking white bread today. It is a recipe, which my host's grandfather wrote down a long long time ago.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4116/4738484312_83b56f5e8e_b.jpg

You need 1 kilogram flour.

Then we had to wait and wait and wait. After a while our host put the dough in the oven: preheat 220°C, water in a dish on the bottom of the oven. Oh yes, she did the dough in a dish and cut the middle of the bread and brushed salt water on the loaf, but we didn't see that. It was in the oven for about three quarters of an hour.

My host took us for a little walk around the small animal park in Forst, while her daughter sang at her musical project choir. I especially loved to see the storks in the nest.

Forst is a town in the Rhine valley, is only 5km from Bruchsal and shares a border with Bruchsal. It was first named in 1161 A.D., but there were finds dating back to Stone and Bronze Age and also finds of Romans in this area.

It's such a beautiful weather today morning, that my host took us to see the Michaelsberg and Turmberg. The Michaelsberg is belongs to Untergrombach, which is one of the surburbs of Bruchsal. Here you see the nice chapel.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4139/4774748509_80b9e5c57a_b.jpg

The houses in the far on the right side belong to Bruchsal and the quarry pond to Untergrombach. When my host was a teenager, she loved to swim there.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4093/4775384424_d3a7900e26_b.jpg

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4098/4775384610_efca5f6d0e_b.jpg

You see, that the left side shows a flat landscape, this is the Rhine Valley. Bruchsal and Untergrombach are located at the edge of the Rhine Valley to Kraichgau hill country.

You also see, that the grass is very dry. By the way: This grass is called Magerrasen, nitrogen-poor  sward/grassland or species rich sward.

If it wouldn't be so misty, you could see the Palatinate Mountains at the horizon.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4098/4775150734_8e4201ce62_b.jpg

The houses on the left side belong to Weingarten and those in the far on the left to Karlsruhe.

Here's what you can read: This tower is the remain of the old castle, which was built in 11th century by the count von Hohenberg, extended in 12th century and 1279 destroyed by Konrad von Lichtenberg, bishop of Strasbourg. The keep was built between 1230 and 1250.

Today we visited Bretten. Like Bruchsal this town is in the state of Baden-Württemberg and located on Bertha Benz Memorial Route. There live about 28,ooo people.

The centre of Bretten consists of many old half-timbered houses around a lively marketplace.Bretten was first mentioned as "villa breteheim" in the "Lorsch codex" in 767. Since 1148 Bretten had the right to mint and issue coins. In 1254 Bretten received city rights. In 1492 Bretten was granted to hold four fairs by Pfalzgraf Philipp. Philipp Melanchthon was born in Bretten in 1497.

This evening we were invited to join our hosts, when they visited the light show at the palace of Bruchsal. It was the first time, that this event happened there and they and we were really curious. There were many people out there and we enjoyed the lights. I'm sorry, but we only took this one photo, it just was too dark to take more. And there is one photo without me. I thought, that you maybe like to see the backside of the palace like this, too.

Maybe you remember, that we saw a small small part of the roof of the prison tower, when we were standing next to the church entrance. Here is the prison. It is called cafe octagon - Cafe Achteck - in Bruchsal, because of the way it is built.

Do you see me and my hosts arm in the mirror?
:)

Only a few meters from the prison is the hospital of Bruchsal. There is the old part with the nice tower and a big part of the newer hospital. We're still standing at the same parking place only moved a bit.

Then we drove to the Stadtgarten, because we wanted to see the Belverdere -  a former hunting lodge.

I arrived to the Czech Republic, yay! The journey was quite alot and I was in an envelope - in the dark and boring place, so my host family decided to take me to a trip. We went to a ZOO. I really enjoyed myself there: and the animals were curious to see me, so a lot of them came close to me to observe me. A funny thing happened there - a curious monkey tried to steal the bag I sleep in - but fortunately, my host mum was quick enough to save the bag! :-)

I visited a medieval castle! I could see how people lived in the Middle Ages. The castle is just ruins now, but it used to be the largest castle in Central Europe. Now, there is a tower with great outlooks and also iron statues exhibition. Some of the statues are funny and some are scary.
Anyway, I had a great time! B)

Hi Mum, How are you? Im getting a little bit more settled here now :)

Today, my host hoped she would get the chance to take Fidget and I out to explore
but unfortunately she had to change her plans at the last minute, although she did
say not to worry as we hope to go out during the week.

We havent been at home doing nothing though! My host is busy making a surprise
valentine gift for her boyfriend and Fidget and I have been helping her out, we will
share the photos with you when it is complete.

We have also be helping out and playing with our hosts pet hamster. This is
''Bobbypin'', shes a syrian hamster that my host rehomed because she was being
pestered by cats at her old home  :(, she got very scared because of it... but now
she seems happier and is getting braver everyday!

Hi Mum,

The weather here isnt very good :( .. rain, rain & more rain!.. however we decided
to brave it and my host, Fidget and I got on the bus to Kings Lynn today to
go exploring around the outskirts of town.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5298/5407795338_6979ec2d2d.jpg

Our first stop was at Kings Lynn Docks, Fidget had already visited here but
we stopped so I could have a look at the artwork painted on this disused building.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5017/5407795350_9f6bbd08cd.jpg

..The pretty building below is the Guild Hall...

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5177/5407795354_6ab622bbe8.jpg

..which faces this huge building...

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5055/5407795348_1a4b4011fc.jpg

..which is St Margarets Church and as well as a normal clock it displays a moon
clock that reveals the phases of the moon as well as the times of Kings Lynn
high tide.

A short walk away from this is some gardens and situated in the middle of them
is this.. the Greyfriars Tower which is really tall and has an archway to walk under
it... it is one of only 3 of its kind left in England now! ..Here I am outside the tower
and then under the archway....

went home.. ;)

Hi again mum,

I thought I would update my travelog and tell you about one of the little projects
my host, Fidget & I have been working on while the weather has been bad
outdoors.

VALENTINES DAY PREPARATION - PART ONE - The Bottle Of Love

As my host needs to save money right now she has decided to give a handmade
card and handmade gift to her boyfriend for Valentines Day this year.

Yes, we are a little early for Valentines Day! but it is all going to take time and
we have just finished the first part of the gift which is a ''bottle of love''; an
empty wine bottle filled with little messages and love quotes which are all tied
up into little scrolls.

My host prepared all the scrolls first of all - that was the time-consuming part...!
She also made a card out of craft materials she had at home...

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5253/5411388130_9e5482ae9c.jpg

...and here is our tub of little scrolls... there is quite a lot of them!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4103/5411388134_4e3c72d484.jpg

The next part was something Fidget and I volunteered to do... we had to
put all the scrolls into the empty wine bottle, so I held the bottle still
while Fidget popped in a scroll one at a time.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4105/5411388136_2382f0d6bd.jpg

..It soon started filling up!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4137/5411388138_d9bf6ee1ff.jpg

...We got a wine label made to stick on the bottle that is personalised with my
hosts' boyfriends name on it.. it also has a little rhyme on it that says ''When
we're together or When we're apart, you're first in my thoughts and first in my
heart''
:)

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/5411388142_bd95c2734f.jpg

..my host thinks we might have to make a few more scrolls to fill the whole
bottle up though..

We have one more gift to make to go with it, maybe I'll show you that next time :)

Love From Mumu x

Hi Mum,

Thought I would just let you know about the other part of the Valentines gift
my host, Fidget and I made for her boyfriend.

VALENTINES DAY PREPARATION - PART TWO - Personalised Rubik's Cube

This gift was very quick and easy to do, this is all we needed:

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5139/5415624198_ca03a13c94.jpg

A rubik's cube and a little book of photo stickers (moo.com)

The next bit is very simple, we had to take the stickers and stick them on each
side of the Rubiks cube (the photo below is of my host & her boyfriend with
face masks on  :p heehee)

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4116/5415624204_b879cdb2ec.jpg

Then we just kept going...

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/5415014519_ce9f2be2b1.jpg

Until the whole of the cube was covered in photo stickers :)

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5058/5415014523_4b3a16f341.jpg

Voila!
...We have now finished our valentines day prep and this can go in the gift bag
with the ''bottle of love'' we made the other day :)

Well I better be going, have a great weekend

Hi Mum,

We saw the most bizarre thing today... there was a round yellow shining ball of
light in the sky.... after alot of thinking over what it could possibly be it finally
dawned on us that it was something we had actually seen before.... a long time
ago..  the sun!  :p ... its come back!

Despite it still not being very warm the sun was enough to make my host want
to go for a bike ride around the village.. we stopped off to take a few photos on
route..

This is Pentneys village sign. Alot of Norfolk villages have signs that look like this.
Each one usually depicts the kind of things you will see in the village. On the
Pentney sign you can see 'Pentney Abbey' which my host says is located some-
where tucked away on the outskirts of the village (my host hopes to go and find
it one day!)

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5092/5428543592_2fe7931a2f.jpg

Facing this sign is the St Mary Magdalene Church..

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5296/5428543596_c1162f3ee6.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5218/5428543586_d88673f7b0.jpg

Pretty pretty countryside on the outskirts of the village...

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5056/5428543604_862ef13180.jpg

We passed lots of horses during our bike ride but the owners were feeding
them so we decided not to disturb them by taking photographs ..

..And here I am balancing on the bike handle bars!

Well I have to go now mum but Ill post again soon.

Hello Mum, how are you?

Cooking Gingerbread Men

I have spent the morning in the company of my host and her boyfriend who lives
in the nearby village of East Walton - we did some baking and made gingerbread
men!

Here is our yummy rolled out gingerbread dough..

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5018/5439108966_fe587765f9.jpg

Then we got our gingerbread man cutter out!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4082/5439108972_ae236d984d.jpg

After they were cooked we had to wait a little while before we decorated them...
here they are cooling off..

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5056/5439108976_5205356923.jpg

...Then we could get started on the fun bit... icing tubes at the ready!

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5052/5439108980_c4ea9d567c.jpg

Here is our first completed one!  :p

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4096/5439108982_fd31304432.jpg

....and here are the first three gingerbreads ready to eat  ;) - (one of the
gingerbread men has a sad face because his arm fell off!)

Well, I better get started on the eating part now..

Hi Mum!

Me again.

My host and I have been on a bit of a mission since I arrived, you see she lives
next to a field that the local farmer often keeps his cows on. Unfortunately they
arent coming close enough to us just yet for a good photo.. but we will keep
trying!

In the meantime, here are some pictures of them taken through windows -
please excuse reflections..!

This is a view from the window at the back of the house..

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5254/5444862834_c1e03a4825.jpg

..And this is where we are more likely to get cows coming closer... near my
hosts bedroom window..

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4077/5444862832_ef514cefda.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5053/5444862824_e8f6decf46.jpg

..Typically last night we had one cow 'moo'ing loudly right outside the bedroom
window while my host was trying to sleep! I thought it was funny  :p.. my host
did get up to try and get a picture but it was too dark this time :(

We will keep trying!

Hi Mum,

How are you? I just thought I would post to wish you a very Happy Valentines
Day! Fidget and I have been spending an evening indoors as it was my host
and her boyfriends turn to go out alone tonight.

She did show us the big card and rose she got though, she also got the menu
and a little heart chocolate from the restaurant they had dinner at!

Hi Mum,

We have been out to a very lovely village today called Castle Acre to see the
Castle Remains they have there. This ''Castle'' was founded in 1066 by William
de Warenne and it was his most important estate in Norfolk. Today it is in the
care of the English Heritage and a place you can freely visit at any time of day
(or night!).

About

Castle Acre Castle was originally an 11th century stone two storey fortified manor
house, built over a late Anglo-Saxon manor house. Founded by William de Warenne,
his son William, the second earl of Surrey founded the 12th century stone ringwork
and bailey castle. When he absorbed the Norman manor house, in the construction
of a high keep, encased by a bank and curtain wall, flanked by a gatehouse.

The large bailey is encased by substantial earthworks, with the foundations of stone
hall complex, a well-preserved length of curtain wall, the remains of two gatehouses
and a massive barbican.

This is the sign on the approach the ruins. It shows a sketch of the way the
castle would have looked originally (the building on the right circled by a wall)

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5056/5450825669_44311d432f.jpg

There is alot of bridges to the ruins themselves as a huge (dry) moat runs all
the way around it.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5133/5450825677_d1d3694467.jpg

Around the site, the walls are signed with the areas that would have been in
that location..

Here is the view from one of the higher points of the castle site.

Here is the view looking over the wall that surrounds where the original building
is/was....

It was a very pretty and peaceful place to be, I liked it here :)

Hi Mum,

My host had to work today (I know - work on a sunday!?) but I decided to go along
with her anyway and we ended up driving through London to get to the site she was
going to be working at.

Unfortunately there was no time to stop and get out the car for sightseeing this time
but my host tried her best to take a few photos from the car!

She did take lots of pictures but sadly not many of them are very clear  :( ..However..

Here we are coming up to the famous department store, Harrods!

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5140/5464635212_6b2b06b783.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5011/5464635218_ffd2385333.jpg

Here we are passing Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Ship in a Bottle ..

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5297/5464635220_a26bd23483.jpg

..And here we are under a few of the ad-lights in Piccadilly Circus..

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5133/5464635222_c15791ee0d.jpg

We also saw Ripleys Believe It or Not museum, St Pauls Cathedral, The Natural History
Museum and a pink stretch limo during our travels but these were the photos too
blurred to use :(

Until next time,

I was positively surprised to know that at Spring time they put cows wondering freely in one of the main green areas in the centre of Cambridge. Unfortunately I also heard they will kill and eat them afterwards! :(

Hello mummy,

"Jaanipäev"(John's Night,Midsummer) is today here,we do some BBQ,we didn't celebrate it as big as some people do,but anyway something we did. It's 2nd biggest holidays after Christmas in Estonia.

Usually Estonians celebrate "Jaaniõhtu" on the eve of the Summer Solstice (June 23) with bonfires. On the islands of Saaremaa  and Hiiumaa, old fishing boats may be burnt in the large pyres set ablaze. On Jaaniõhtu, Estonians all around the country will gather with their families, or at larger events to celebrate this important day with singing and dancing, as Estonians have done for centuries. The celebrations that accompany Jaaniõhtu carry on usually through the night

We were not awake all night and we got even some rain,as it is "common " in that evening(night).

2 weeks ago Mari got rabbit and today he was first time outside and I was looking, together with other TVs what he is doing.

Today evening we went to see the event for what Rakvere is famous for.

About the festival
The Punk Song Festival is a symbiose of the traditional Estonian song festival with lot of choral singers and the punk rock. The idea came from Üllar Saaremäe, artistical director of Rakvere theater in the Summer of 2007 and next year, June 7, 2008 the Punk Song Festival in Rakvere became a reality. Then the punk anthem "Anarchy in the U.K" was the only non-Estonian punk song in the repertoire.

This time, June 11, 2011 the festival is more international. Along with Estonian punk we hear also songs in English, Finnish and Russian, arranged for the choir and symphony orchestra+rock band. This festival is the main event of European cultural capital 2011 in Rakvere.

The arranged punk is still punk (not tango, bossanova or something else), but it sounds another, interesting way. We hope you will enjoy!

Though Mari is not fan of punk songs, but she went because she likes to get part of big culture events : )

Hi mommy,

it was a really warm and sunny day, temperature was maybe 30 degrees !So really hot and we went to see Youth-Song and Dance festival 2011 in Tallinn, though we only saw songfestival  It is really important event and Mari couldn't want to miss it !

It took place in open air, in the territory of Tallinn Song Festival Grounds.

It was almost a 6-hour long concert with different choirs and orchestras performing. The songs and music take the most powerful form when joint choirs start performing.

Song and Dance Celebration, the Estonian says. This is almost a sacred notion. It stands for the true birthday of Song and Dance, a great spiritual feast, a tradition not to be missed.

This is the festive reunion of an ancient folk, gathering from the cities as well as from the countryside;
small as a nation, but impressively large as a family.

Song and Dance Celebration is a true Estonian holiday, the Holy Day of the Heart;
which has been waited for, adorned for;
this is a brief moment of ecstatic togetherness, rising almost into the air in a mythical ship of joy and hope
a ship that has proved to be capable of carrying one nation over the most dangerous, most difficult rocks of time.

/Doris Kareva/

The Song Celebration tradition started in the middle of the 19th century and it has survived all of the twists and turns in Estonia’ s history.

and it still lasts and the next whole nation songfestival is in year 2014  The young songfestival means people till 26 years old.

Estonia and Song and Dance Celebration – these two belong together like Norway and skiing or England and the Oxford-Cambridge boat race.

I was proud to be there, around the people,Estonian flags,LOTS of people, singing and the feelings there..

As it's about 4 weeks left till Christmas its really dark here, during the days and some days we don't see any sunshine at all, what makes it even worse ? We don't have snow  : ( ! Today sun rised 8.44 am and set 15.31.. and it goes even shorter till Christmas,so we have whole time almost lights on and this evening I decided to colour a bit Mari's colourbook with Bombus

Today is Christmas here and there's no snow outside, actually okay there is some, but it doesn't feel like  Christmas at all if you look out of the window, more like late autumn or something. But inside it looks like Christmas!..Christmas decorations, rooms are cleaned and Christmas' smells.
In Estonia there is tradition to go graveyard on 24th December to put candles to your dear one's who are dead for their memory, that they can have light on Christmas Eve.I could join with Mari, she lighted candle for her great-grandma,great granddad and great-greatgrandma.The graveyard was really beautiful in dark with all these candles.

http://www.snap.ee/static/user_thumbs/kiisumari/jouluhetked/t760_Kuva458.jpg
Then we walked back home and we had also  Christmas table set and food ready,we could enjoy the time around family and we toyvoyagers decided to join.

http://www.snap.ee/static/user_thumbs/kiisumari/jouluhetked/t760_PC242984.jpg
that's how the food looked like, sorry that I am not on the picture, but as you know camera's batter gets always empty in wrong time.

After Christmas dinner a bit later was time to exchange presents.

Here it's tradition to sing, read a poem or do something in order to get presents =D So you had to read 5 poems or sing 5 songs if under the tree were 5 presents for you,if more presents, more poems =D You are just used to know Christmas poems or songs !
We wish you a merry Christmas! Häid jõule!

back me there's lake Gallträsk,but I believe it doesn't look like a lake now,but its dangerous to walk there also, because ice is not thick anymore
