Hi everyone, Molly here, writing in my travelog for the very first time! I'm really excited to start my journey around the globe, although I first have to find some hosts that would like me to visit them! So I thought I would tell you all a bit about myself and show you some things that I like to do while I'm at home.
In the pictures, you can see that I have a very cute backpack that should be useful during my trips!
The other picture shows me with some of my friends that I will miss very much on my travels!

Here you can see some postcards of where I come from. I live with my owner Raff who is studying at the university here in Armidale, New South Wales, Australia. She is in her 4th year of a double degree in Arts (majoring in sociology) and Law at the University of New England.
Armidale looks its best in autumn as you can see by all the lovely fallen leaves in one of the postcards. The other card shows 2 of the cathedrals here in Armidale.

I would like to introduce you to my owner. She is the one with the purple strips- isn't purple such an amazing colour? I think so!
I was also introduced to one of her four housemates today and I would like you to meet her, too. Her name is Nat and she is currently doing her honors in science (zoology). She is doing research on wombats so she introduced me to one of her friends- I'm including a picture of that meeting, too!
The wombat is a native animal of Australia. I'm hoping to meet other native animals of other parts of the world sometime soon!

Here I am on my owner's balcony. The weather today was typical of Armidale- overcast with some light rain.

My owner thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know that I'm a very nice bear who does not discriminate against anyone regardless of race, class, gender, sexuality etc. I hope that my hosts feel the same way. Make love not war  :)

My owner and I played with our Babushka dolls before we got bored. We couldn't decide what we wanted to do next- I wanted to watch TV while she wanted to read!

We decided to compromise and listen to some music instead before having a snack on one of my most favourite foods- Tiny Teddies!

After that, I decided to play dress ups. As you can see, both me and my owner love Converse shoes!

My owner had to explain to me today why we can't have any real cats in our house- the landlord doesn't allow it. :( But I'm hoping to meet some real cats when I start travelling!
At the end of a long day, I decided to snack on a very Australian spread- Vegemite. I hope I get to try all different food from around the world soon :D

Hi Mom!

I just arrived to Helsinki. It's a beautiful sunny winter day here and I'll go to the city soon with my host Kirsi and my new toy friends :) I'm a bit tired, but I'll take a nap later...

My host will upload photos of me here later this evening.

Hi Mom,

Here you can see that I've arrived here safely. My host and all her toys had already waited for me to arrive and when a postman rang their doorbell this morning and gave them an envelope they knew I was in it. When I looked out from the envelope I saw my new friends Manu the Rubber Duck, Sam Squirrel, Mercury and Thomas there. My first life mission is completed now :) The boys wanted to welcome me to Finland and they even had a small flag of Finland for me. They also thought that I was hungry after travelling so long time so at first they gave me some delicious Finnish chocolates. I think I'll get along with these guys quite well;)

After I had met my new friends I wanted to see some views. My host lives on the 8th floor with her boyfriend and their cat so I could see some city views from the balcony and their kitchen window. My host told me that here in Helsinki lives over 500 000 people so my second life mission is completed now too :)

My new friends told me that it's already a tradition when a new TV arrives they'll go to the city by a tram and buy some latte and chocolate for the guest. So we went to the tram stop and waited a few minutes for a tram number 9.

It's supposed to be spring here now, but they still have lots of snow here. I watched my new home street from the tram's window for some time and then we went to sit. It took only about ten minutes to get to the centre of the city by a tram.

My host wanted to show me the most important building of Helsinki - and that's her oppinion - the Main Post Office. We didn't go there this time, but my host promised me I'd see the inside of the building many times. They usually have their PC meetings at a café there too. She told me I could attend to a PC here on Friday if I'd like to and of course I do. This time they'll have the meeting at another café, but I'll tell more about it when I'll get there...

We waited a tram back home and I got the latte as my friends had promised me. I even got to sat on snow - hrrrrrr, it was cold... Well, the latte or snow didn't help - I was exhausted after our trip and all the travelling so I said goodnight and went to bed.

More later.... ZZZZzzzzZZ....

I went to bed so early yesterday evening that I woke up in the middle of the night after sleeping long enough. It was dark and at first I had no idea where I was. I was a bit confused and felt homesick - and also hungry, because I didn't eat much yesterday. My host gave me some fruit salad and she brought two koalas to chat with me. We talked for a while and I calmed down when I heard the Aussie language :)

I also met my host's cat Lauri. He was sleeping when I arrived here, but normally he's awake later in the evening and during nights. He is a nice and handsome cat, I think we can be good friends :) I felt a bit tired again and my host helped me to brush my teeth and we both went back to bed.

Yesterday evening my host and her boyfriend went to a spacial movie premiere. The movie was not allowed for children so I stayed at home and played with my new friends.

Today my host met her friend at the café of the main post office. We went there too and had a huge cup of latte while they were chatting. My host told me the latte is the biggest one you can get here in Helsinki - it was really good too.

In the evening we had a big party at home. The party was for welcoming me, but also it was a farewell party to Sam and Thomas too. Sam is travelling to Germany tomorrow and Thomas will travel to Australia. We had fun at our party :D

Today I went to my first Postcrossing meeting :) Before the meeting we all had a latte together for the last time. I talked with Thomas and told him all kinds of things he needs to know about Australia. Too soon it was time for Thomas and Sam to go in to their envelopes and my host took them to the post office.

Bye guys! It was nice to meet you both :)

The PC meeting started and we chatted, had lattes and wrote a lot of postcards together with some Finnish crossers. It was great and I can hardly wait for the next meeting. Manu got a new duck friend from Sweden. Her name is Sigrid and I think she wants to have Manu as her boyfriend ;)

Yesterday we were all a bit sad, because Sam and thomas left us, but we were also happy for them - we are looking forward to read about their new adventures. We went shopping and I got to choose a puzzle for us. I picked up a puzzle with a picture of some native animals of Finland. In the evening we started to play with the puzzle. My host's cat wanted to play with us too, but he wasn't much helping. Finally we got it done :)

Today my host's friend visited us and after a few cups of coffee he left. It was a rainy day so we didn't want to go out to play. We drove to the city by a tram and walked around the railway station. It was interesting to see so many trains and a lot of passangers there. My host's boyfriend gambled a little and we watched him, too bad he didn't win anything...

Now we are watching a movie and later we might get some ice cream :)

Hi Mom,

I'm sorry I haven't updated my blog for two weeks, but I've been busy here going around the city. I'm fine and I hope you are too. I miss you, but you don't have to worry about me - I'm having great time here :)

The last time I wrote here I told you we might get ice cream and guess what - we did get a huge bowl of delicious ice cream with jam :)

The guys (Manu and Mercury) talked about Moomins. I was curious, because I didn't know what they are. My host took us to a big department store and showed me Moomins there. We also took a picture of me and the guys with Moomins.

On Tuesday before Easter we attended another Postcrossing meeting and this time it was at the café of the main post office. It was the last day to send cards for Easter and there was a great special cancellation for the cards too.

We got a new friend :) My host found a nice rooster and he told us his name is Keijo. Keijo wants to become a TV too. We wrote lots of postcards there together and had a big tasty latte.

On Thusday before Easter we visited The Winter Garden of Helsinki. It's a really popular place during the Easter time and we wanted to visit there before it would be too crowded. There were lots of beautiful flowers there and we took a few nice pictures of them. We also met the Easter Cock and some chickens there :D

After visiting the Winter Garden we walked a little at the Töölönlahti area. My host told me it's one of her favourite places of Helsinki and I can easily understand that.

Hi Mom-Raff,

I'm still here in Finland and everything is fine. My host has been really sick and tired for a long time so we haven't been able to update my travelog. She's very sorry about it and now we'll try to update this so I can travel to Ireland next week. It's important for me to get this done before travelling again.

Now we are in the Central Finland near Jyväskylä. We are visiting my host's mother and we came here last Tuesday. It's summer here now and there was still snow in the last pictures we've uploaded here. I think we start with some of my pictures.

The first ones show you how we spent Easter here - with lots of chocolate eggs :D I found a cute little Hello Kitty from my egg and it's in my backpack now :)

We also walked around the city and I saw some interesting bars like Molly Malone's and an Australian pub.

I've been in many Postcrossing meetings with my friends. Here's pictures from one which was in an old and beautiful café/restaurant called Kappeli. There were also JuliaCaesar's fox and duck at the meeting and we wrote "a few" postcards there together.

It was a warm and sunny day so after the meeting we walked a little and took some pictures. Here you can see me in front of the Lutheran Cathedral, The Presidential Palace, by the sea and in front of the Art Museum Ateneum.

We met a new friend there. He was big and green and his name is Helppi. He is a city guide and lives at the tower of the Cathedral. He looked a lot like a monster, but he was really kind and funny too. He said we would perhaps meet again in the city someday

When my host was too sick to take us to the city or do anything with us we all played together, read a lot especially the Moomin books and slept a lot too. We didn't have any problems with that and it was actually quite relaxing.

Sometimes we visited my host's friend and she has a small cute dog called Laku. I like to play with Laku and even though it might look bad in the picture it wasn't - he wouldn't ever hurt me, we were just playing Mom.

I also like to watch the views at my host's place. There's a big flea market on weekends on the other side of the street and it's a popular place to visit. I've been there a couple of times too, but we haven't taken any pictures inside of the building there.

One day when we were in the city we noticed some great big posters of the World Exhibition of Shanghai. I wanted to have my picture taken in front of the Australian building, of course :) After that we went to a café for a latte, that's something we all love to do :)

An envelope arrived in April and we were curious to find out what was inside of it. Soon two small sheep came out of the envelope and told us that they are Shauns (Shaun Green and Shaun Blue) from Czech Republic, they are TVs too :) They gave us candies and showed us a postcard of their hometown. We talked a little and then we went out, because Shauns wanted to see some snow and ice. That was the last time we saw any snow here :)

We went to café for a latte, the first Finnish one for Shauns. We talked there and got to know Shauns a bit better. We also wrote a postcard together, but only one this time.

Hi Raff,

OK, now it's time to update my blog - tomorrow I'll travel to Ireland :D I'm so excited to travel again and see some new places, but at the same I know I'll miss my new fiends a lot...

One Sunday we went to visit my host's friend. My host's boyfriend and the guys changed winter tyres to summer tyres to his car. I watched that, but it was just too dirty job for me. I went inside and talked with my host and her friend. After that we got a huge hamburger meal :)

Here you can see more pictures of the postcrossing meetings I've attended with my friends. We've written a few postcards there :)

May Day is a big happening here in Finland. We had a party and we got some donuts and quite strange Finnish baked goods called Tippaleipä. They looked funny, but tasted delicious :)

The next day we went to visit my host's friends about 10 kilometres from the city. We went there by bus :) There was a great Japanese garden and we wanted to have our picture taken with the dragon. After that trip we got a big bowl of ice cream at home :)

And talkink about ice cream - they opened a Ben & Jerry's ice cream bar here and of course we went there to have some delicious ice cream :) We sat there on a park, trees have became green here already :)

One Sunday we were walking around and saw the Parliament House of Finland. It was a big and impressive building. We walked to the Olympic Stadium - and went to the tower of it. The views from there were just amazing :)

Last week we visited my host's mother in the Central Finland. Her garden was beautiful, apple trees were blossoming and there were many wonderful flowers there too. We spent a lot of time outside and the weather was fine, sunny and quite warm mostly. We went by the lake Lievestuore. My host Kirsi and Manu the Duck went swimming, but I thought the water was too cold and stayed on the beach. The week we spent there was relaxing and we had fun there. We also took a nap almost every day :)

We visited a place called Naissaari (Woman Island) and there we enjoyed the views by walking around. There was a lake too - Finland is known as a country of thousands of lakes - and I've seen many of them now :)

Well, today I'm leaving Finland - and travelling to Ireland. We went for a latte for the last time all together. I got many hugs and kisses from my friends. I'm hoping I won't have to stay for long in the envelope...

Bye-bye Finland! Bye Helsinki! Bye Kirsi! Bye Manu! Bye Shauns! Bye Mercury! Bye all my friends and postcrossers! I had fun :D I'll miss you, but now it's time for me to go ahead to new adventures :)

On my first day in Ireland I got to take a quick trip into Dublin City centre. My host had some shopping to do on the market so I got  a chance to look around!
I spotted a nice horse in Temple Bar.

Hi Mum!
Today we drove to a town called Trim as there was a classic and vintage car ralley on. Trim is in County Meath which is known as "The Royal County". It took up about an hour to get there.
My host told me the reason that it is called "The Royal County" is because it was the seat of the High Kings of Ireland many years ago!

The first thing I saw was this big old castle called, You Guessed! Trim castle  :D
The castle was used in the movie Braveheart in which our Mel played the lead role! Fancy that!
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/PB3-1.jpg
the River that flows passed the castle is called the River Boyne and there is a famous Irish Mythical Story called The Salmon of Knowledge and he lived in the river Boyne.
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/PB2-1.jpg
Behind me is one of the old castle gates.
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/PB1-1.jpg
We left the castle behind us and went into the car ralley.
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/PB6-1.jpg
I spotted these nice cars!

......and  an old Fire Engine!
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/PB9-1.jpg
Look at these old schoolbuses. Bright Yellow!!!!!! My host told me she used to get one to school and on friday's they would have egg & flour fights on the bus.Sounds like a lot of fun to me! :cyclops:

I got to see lots and lots of interesting things connected with rural life in Ireland in the olden days!
I loved this old postbox. It's very old as  the Royal Crest is still on it. When Ireland got independence  the new Irish Post Office didn't bother to replace them........just painted them green instead!  :D
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/may11-1.jpg
I had to try and guess what these strange things were. I thought it was some sort of leprechaun catching device  :p
I soon discovered that these were lobsterpots made by hand from willow....pretty cool eh!

And here is the boat to go with it  :D
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/may9-1.jpg
Wow a real old spinning wheel.....well actually I think it's a new one made to look like an old one  ;)
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/may8-2.jpg
I found this cute little cottage in the museum grounds.

I had a finally walk around the grounds before hitting the road back to Dublin  :D

Today my hosts were attending a big Anti State Budget Protest in Dublin City Centre. I asked could I tag along. The whole country is up in arms about the bank crisis which was caused by overlending to developers in Ireland...as a result people have decided to go out and march against the goverment.....anyhow I thought it was alot of fun and enjoyed the singing and the chanting on the march. :D
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/mar6-1.jpg
Arriving at our assembly point!
http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/mar5-1.jpg
It was so cold waiting for the march to start....and then it started to snow!
We walked over 2 kms to O'Connell St where we listened to lots of speeches and protest songs by  well know Irish folk singers Mary Black and Christy Moore!

Hi Mum. Today I travelled down to County Wexford on the South East coast of Ireland. We stopped off in a town called Enniscorthy. It's a very historic town as a very important battle took place here during the  Irish  Rebellion of 1798  "The Battle of Vinegar Hill".

You can see Vinegar Hill in the background!

Irish Signposts.......I like them!!!!!

This church was designed by a famous architect called Pugin. It was closed and I couldn't get inside  :(

http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae204/IrishWanderer/ToyVoyagers%20in%20Ireland/en2-1-1.jpg
I then visited the 1798 Rebellion centre and got to find out all about the 1798 Rebellion in Ireland and other political turmoil that was happening in europe at that time. It was very interesting!

This guy was a famous Irish Political Leader  called Theobald Wolfe Tone.

I got to watch a film of a reinactment of the Battle of Vinegar Hill. I enjoyed that  :D

We then travelled onto a famous abbey called Tintern Abbey caled after "Tintern Abbey" in the UK! We couldn't get inside because the tourist season has not begun yet  :( We walked around the grounds instead!
