Hello mommy!
Last weekend I visited little town near Moscow - Snegiri. We walked through the forest there and make fun on the snow. Suddenly I remembered that I was a bear and during the winter should sleep But they told me that it is not the proper time and we began to make photos again. I hope you also have fun mommy! |

Today we went on a farm where you can see ostrichs and emus. I really liked it there, as the sun was shining.
You can see the ostrichs behind me, if you have good eyes. That were the fields around it ! And here are some close ups from the ostrichs: What a nice farm ! |

Today we went to the Schloss Borbeck. It is a water castle.
Here some infos from Wikipedia: Schloss Borbeck is the central cultural institution of both borough and district. An institution of the cultural office of the city of Essen, it regularly hosts exhibitions and concerts. A permanent exhibition on the history of the abbey and the city has been established in 2006. Essen's public music school has been conducting classes here since 1999. The register office has set up a special room for marriages. The 55 ha (135.9 acres) park is open to the public and the largest park in the northwestern part of Essen. A street nowadays separates a smaller part in front of the castle from the rest of the park; this smaller part mostly consists of hilly lawns and includes a former boxing arena, which is now used for concerts. And the pics of me: What a nice day ! |

Today we visited the Landschaftspark in Duisburg. Here some infos from wikipedia:
Landschaftspark is a public park located in Duisburg Nord, Germany. It was designed in 1991 by Latz + Partner, with the intention that it work to heal and understand the industrial past, rather than trying to reject it. The park closely associates itself with the past use of the site: a coal and steel production plant (abandoned in 1985, leaving the area significantly polluted) and the agricultural land it had been prior to the mid 19th century. |
BlackCat Posted May 1, 2010, 2:14 am |
Today we visited the abbey Saarn in Mülheim, which is close to Essen. I don’t know something about the abbey, but it is on the Industrial road. It was built in 1214.

Behind me you can see the Henrichshütte. Hattingen became part of the Hanseatic League in 1554 and became an important trading town. In 1720, there were 52 operating coal mines within the municipal area and Hattingen became one of the first industrial cities of the Ruhr region. Steel production started in 1853, when the Henrichshütte was founded. The Henrichshütte became one of the most important employers of the whole region and dominated the town until it closed in 1987. |

Together with 5 other TVs I travelled to another host who will now take care of us and who will reorganise my journey. 3 TVs, Muumipeikko, Miegalyteand Lupus-Tigger gave us a nice welcome. |

When Katrin came home today she was really happy. She has finished her Bachelor'S Thesis and now she has finally at lot of free time again. That's got for me and the other TVs because we hope that she will spend a lot of time with us now.

My host Katrin took me with her to Hamburg to her job in the state and university library. Today she has to fill database with a lot of new information which was not very exciting.
This is the book she is working on right now. It is a French book, the drawing on the left page shows dresses in the 18th century. In the room I also discovered these old books. They are more than 300 years old! |

The group of TVs is getting smaller and smaller. Jelle left already last week and today they said goodbye to TravelingTuffy and me.

Hello from the centre of Germany!
After my stay in the north of Germany I arrived safe here in Mechterstädt, a village of 1000 people in Thuringia. It is very pretty here, everthing is green when you look outside the window. Unfortunately it is not very sunny right now, but I am sure we will still have fun discovering the area. See you! |

Today we started off with postcrossing. My host has been a postcrosser for over 4 years. As she was away for a week she now has to catch up with all the mail.
This afternoon we'll go to the post office and the town Waltershausen nearby. More to come.... |

For the weekend we took a trip to Bad Steben to relax, go walking, swimming...
Bad Steben is a health resort town with a huge park and garden and old spa houses. Famous Alexander from Humboldt used to live here in this house: We went to the little town of Liechtenberg with the castle ruin and tower... the castle walls and view over the countryside: The town hall of Liechternberg: Later we went to 'Frankenwaldsee': And took a walk through the fields. Can you see me?! We came across a ski jump- is that high! And last but not least we went in this cold water bath, as it is suppoed to be healthy! |

Hello Mom!
Sorry for not having send a sign earlier but my host returned to work after the holidays and was busy. Only a quick update now, more later as we went away for the weekend. Last week we were also invited to a birthday BBQ. And here we are preparing and designing the gift, a memo board. We enjoyed a warm summer evening (after a lot of rain lately) with a BBQ: CU! |

For the weekend we went to a youth hostel at Harsberg, near Eisenach, to attend a choir workshop.
I went by motorbike. On arrival I had a look around the grounds and discovered all different kinds of places to stay: Tipis tree houses caves bungalows the main building the hangar There were other intersting animals around - Geckos said hello! Look at this buffet full of fruit and vegies for dinner! And when we went home we stopped at McDonalds: I'll move on soon, so cross your fingers that I have a safe journey! |

Hi Mum
OMG, we finally got to go into the city... So exciting. Here's me on the bus going in We walked around for a bit and found this cool looking church. There are heaps of churches in the city. This is city hall. We weren't allowed to go inside, but here's some interesting information about it. "City hall was erected between 1920 and 1930 and is heritage listed. The sandstone-faced building features a finely detailed main entrance topped by a 92 metre clock tower. It is currently undergoing renovations." This is the Treasury Building, formerly the Queensland Government Treasury Building, but now it is the Treasury Casino. It was built between 1886 and 1928 in three stages. It is Located at the end of Queen st Mall. There’s accommodation and of course, gambling, so naturally we weren’t allowed in. Next we found some Kangaroo’s… They’re not real kangaroos though; they’re made out of scrap metal. Then we met Adrian Burragubba, a native aboriginal, who busks in the Queen st mall. He’s been doing it for the past 16 years, and has even fought the government over aboriginal wages. He comes from a community in central Queensland. We didn’t want to disturb his music, so we had a group photo with him. He sits on genuine Kangaroo skin and plays the didgeridoo and clapsticks. He is dressed in traditional aboriginal dress and body paint. We were all nervous, but it was so interesting and unlike anything ive heard before. Next we stumbled across “The Drovers”. They were originally created as part of Expo ’88, and were part of a series of 80 sculptures displaying people in everyday situations in Australia. In 1989 they were purchased by Department if Primary Industries and installed in there present location, out the front of the Department if Primary Industries building on Ann st. In 2005, they were re-created in cast aluminium to preserve them for generations to come. The drovers represent the old swagmen around a camp fire. We found this really interesting statue of a man on horseback, giving a lady water and food, with lots of children standing around. I’m not sure what it all means, but they look cool. Next we saw this, it’s an old Servants home, which was built in 1865 and bought in 1873 by the Brisbane School of Arts. Here’s some information about it. Although it wasn’t very interesting inside, as it’s being used as an art gallery / coffee shop now, we got to sign the guest book. Sadly it was then time to go back to work. Here we are on the train. Im exhausted now, so im going to sleep. Love Bruno xox |
