Hello there! This is finally me updating my stay in Switzerland! We've already done many things here. I've visited three cities and it's not over. Sunshine has other ideas. I can't wait!

The first town I saw was Sion / Sitten. It's a small town in the mountain. About 2 hours by train from Fribourg, where Sunshine lives. Sion is in the Rhone valley. They say that the sun always shines in Sion. The first picture shows you how close the Alps are and the second is me in front of the famous river, the Rhone that originates near Sion and runs from there through south east France until the Mediterranean Sea.

In Sion there are 2 famous hills, Valere and Tourbillon. We went on both of them.
First: Valere. On the top of Valere (621m), there's a basilica and a castle. In the castle there's the Museum of History of the Valais Region.
On the first picture it's Valere from Sion. The second is me walking toward Valere and finally it's the view on Sion from the hill.

The second hill, Tourbillon, is located next to Valere. On the top of Tourbillon there's an old castle that's in ruins now.
The first picture is us climbing to the top. The sun was shining but there was a lot, a lot of wind! Although Tourbillon is not high (about 700m), I really thought that the wind would carry me away from Sunshine!!
The second picture is me in front of an old wall of the castle.
The last are the view on Valere, on the Rhone and on the mountains from Tourbillon.
Nice, isn't it?

Another day we went to Neuchâtel. It's a little town, about 1h by train from Fribourg. Sunshins studies Art History and Museum Studies at the University of Neuchâtel. That's why we went there. In Neuchâtel there's a lake. This is the first thing that you see when you get out of the station (as you can see on the picture!)

Apart from the lake, there are one or two thing to see like the red church or the museum of Art. In front of it there are some sculptures. I took picture of two of them but I have to admitt that they are not my favorites! Sunshine likes art and museum and she told me that we would visit some during my stay. A mouse in a museum, have you ever heard something that crazy??

I hope you like the pictures! Sunshine told me that I'm gonna taste some swiss cheeses (she says that's they better than the dutch cheese. We'll see! I'm going to try to judge them impartially!) Then we're going to visit Fribourg, Sunshine's hometown, Berne, the capital of Switerland, Basel, Sunshine's favorite town and maybe other like Lausanne.
As Sunshine loves football, I think we're going to watch some games, espicially the ones of the Swiss team!
More about my adventures soon!

Hello Everybody!! Here some pictures of my swiss adventures!
First, last month we went to Gruyères. It's a touristic village and castle near Sunshine's place. It's in this region that one of the most famous swiss cheeese, the Gruyère, is produced! As it was extremely hot, it wasn't a good weather to taste a lot of cheese  :( But instead visited the village. We saw the art gallerie, which is in an old chapel, the actual church of the village. We walked in the little village too.

In Gruyères there's a famous castle built during the Middle Age. In the 19th century it's been bought by a person who decided to make so changes in the inside decoration. The most striking example is the room decorated by the french paint Camille Corot.

The landcape around the castle is just breathtaking! The sun was shining and the hills were sooo green! WoW!

In Gruyères there's a special and weird museum: the Giger Museum. It's been founded by the swiss artist H.R. Giger. His most famouse creation is the Alien in the Hollywood movie Alien! Here's some pictures of me and other of his creations. Pretty scary, uh?

After the countryside we went to a museum in Basel: the Beyeler Foundation to see an exhibition about the famous american painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. The museum is very well-known not only in Basel but in Europe. The building has been imagined by Renzo Piano. Here some pictures of the museum. Sorry no pictures of the exhibition. Mouse weren't allowed to go in!

After the museum we went to Basel where we had Antipasti near the Rhine. I tasted my first cheese in Switzerland! Unfortunately it wasn't swiss cheese but greek cheese: Feta!
Sunshine told me that Basel is her favorite city in Switzerland. There's there a lot of museums, restaurants and shops. The only thing she hates about Basel is the football team! She's a a fan of the team of Bern!!

After having seen the Rhine flowing slowly in Basel, we went to the Rhine Falls near Schaffausen. But before, some pictures of the city of Schaffausen. The medieval city is sooo cute. We went on the Munot that is the fortification. Around it there's a vineyard and it's the symbol of Schaffausen. On it we have a nice view of the town. The first two pictures it's me on the steps leading to the Munot, then it's me in the Munot and the last pictures are the panorama! Nice, isn't? And we walk in the old city with beautiful houses.

Near Schaffausen there are the famous Rhine Falls! They are the largest plain waterfalls in Europe. Total height: 23m, total width: 150m. It's a very, very touristic place but still pleasant.

We went also to central Switzerland in the little town of Schwytz that gave its name to the country. Schwytz is in the mountain and there's not many monuments or interesting things to see apart from the mountain... Oh and there's a chuch too!
swiss_sunshine

Posted Aug 2, 2010, 7:40 pm
After Schwytz we took the train to Küssnacht am Rigi where we took the boat for 1 hour direction: Luzern! As it was getting late we did not visit Luzern. We only saw the famous Kappelbrücke, an old wooden bridge. In Luzern there are soo many tourists! Incredible. But I have to admit that it's a nice city with the lake and the mountains.

After these trips to the german-speaking part of Switzerland I thought it was time for me to learn a bit French, Sunshine's language. That's why we went to Lausanne. Lausanne is near the lake of Geneva. It's the second biggest city of the french-speaking part of Switzerland after Geneva. We went to the Hermitage Foundation to see an exhibition of the famous american painter Edward Hopper.

In Lausanne we also saw the Palais of Rumine, which contains the museum of Art, of zoology, of archeology and of zoology as well as a library. Then we went to the cathedral from where we had a view on the lake.

Hello!

Well now I'm on my way to the next host! But before that, I have to finish to tell you about my journey in Switzerland!!
Okay, in August, we went to Interlaken! It's a touristic place because it's the starting point to famous mountains or village like the Jungfraujoch or Lauterbrunnen. Sunshine and I just took a walk in Interlaken. It wasn't that nice because even if we were in Summer, it was quite cold and cloudy :( But still, I saw mountains, the Aar river and souvenir shops!!

Before leaving, I couldn't miss Fribourg, Sunshine's hometown! It's a small town of 35,000 inhabitants near Bern, known for hum... nothing particular :p
But there are still some nice things to visit!! Like the medieval cathedral dedicated to St. Nicholas, the architecture of the city hall or the impressiv old part of the city!

Here I met other toyvoyagers, they are Stompy and King Tut,
they are just like me, they arrived here just a few weeks,
I am very glad that we can explore the place together~  ;)

I am in the Cross-Harbour Tunnel right now~
It's exciting to have a seat in the fisrt row of a double deck bus.
We got on the bus in Kowloon,
and after crossing the harbour, we are in Hong Kong Island.  :)

There are many ways to cross the harbour, I will show you more later!  :D

Other than taking the bus, we can also cross the harbour by take the MTR.
MTR is "Mass Transit Railway" in short, it's an underground train,
just the same as tube/subway/bahn.

Every stations have their own colour, I am now in Causeway Bay,
maybe the busiest station in Hong Kong Island. There are many exits here.

It's deep down there, I have to take a few escalator to reach the train platform. I am travelling the blue line to red line.

I found a nice chinese calligraphy of the station name at the waiting platform.

After a few stations, I have to transit to another line.
I am going to Mongkok, you can see that it's one of the stations of another line.
From the map, you can see the whole station map of MTR.
I am now at Admiralty, waiting for the train to Mongkok.
After getting on the train at this station,
I will be under the harbour again!  :cyclops:

As different stations have different colours,
some of them may have two colours,
it's a happy thing to take photos with different stations,
then my album will be very colourful~~  :cyclops: :cyclops:

It's neat and tidy in the cabin, as the train is fast,
I have to hold the rail.
We even found a perfect seat for ourselves~  ;)

Other than under the ground, there's still a very different way to cross the Harbour!

It's by taking the Star Ferry~ Cool~
Taking ferry can enjoy the breeze and the night view.
I am a naughty mouse and curious to everything,
I just can't keep myself sitting there, so I wandered around to explore!

I was on the lower deck of the ferry, there are also an upper deck for passengers,
but the lowest deck down there is for crew only.

On most of the bus, there are televisions boardcasting news.
I just need to press the bell, the driver will stop for me at the next station~

Mongkok is the crowdest place in Hong Kong,
which suits its chinese name very much, if translated into English,
its name means crowded corner~ Hee~  B)

Here you can see a lot of neon light signages, I think this scene is quite special.  ;)

There are the Seated Buddha Statue in Lantau Island,
Lion Dance, Hong Kong Coliseum, and Wong Tai Sin too.

The model are so detailed that you can even see legoman eating ice cream!
The funniest thing is that Buzz Lightyear,
Batman and Spiderman are taking part in the Bun Festival~

We even took a photo together at the Great Wall miniature.
