Today something strange happens: my owner put me on this fence and left me there.
Then a young woman and two toys appeared and took a photo of me before they left me again. I can't come with them because maybe my owner will come back to pick me up again.

Here I am, still sitting on this fence and freeting like hell. I spent the whole night here alone and wondered what might happen the next day.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6028.jpg

The woman came back and told me, that she will take care of me now. She introduced me to dotdog and Muumipeikko, who are Toyvoyagers. They dried my fur from the dew...
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6029.jpg

...and put me into warm sheets. I fell asleep at once. The last words I heard were "...become a travelling toy"

When I finally woke up after a long time asleep, the little Muumin from Finland had some news for me:
1. While I was asleep I was given the name Dusel. It's a "Plattdeutsch", a dialect which is spoken in northern Germany, and means luck.
2. Muumipeikko told me that I'm a toyvoyager now. That means that I will travel around the world a visit many different countries.
3. I'll leave tomorrow! At first I was really sad because I hadn't explored my new home very much, but Muumipeikko says that I have the great chance to travel through different European countries and will even meet his mum in Finland.
I'm really excited now and needed to look up all my destinations on a map. My first stop will be Moscow in Russia. I can't wait to go there!

Hi guys!
I`m at my first host place in a three-week journey! TVs here told me I was lucky because some of them was on the way more than one month. Wow!
Here are many TVs and they are glad to see me and my postcards. They surrounded me and began to ask who I was and from where I came.
After this I went to the main post office with Maria. It is a big building! We were only in two halls but there are many of them - even Maria was not in all.
After post we had a deal in book-store. Maria wanted to bought the album for her postcards which are hanging on the wall, but now she decided to put all of them in albums.
The book-store is really crowded!

And finally we were at our way home, but stopped to make a photo with KGB building:
Quote:
The Lubyanka is the popular name for the headquarters of the KGB and affiliated prison on Lubyanka Square in Moscow. It is a large building with a facade of yellow brick, designed by Alexander V. Ivanov in 1897 and augmented by Aleksey Shchusev in 1940-1947.

The Lubyanka was originally built in 1898 as the Neo-Baroque headquarters of the All-Russia Insurance Company, noted for its beautiful parquet floors and pale green walls. Belying its massiveness, the edifice avoids an impression of heroic scale: isolated Palladian and Baroque details, such as the minute pediments over the corner bays and the central loggia, are lost in an endlessly-repeating classicizing palace facade, where three bands of cornices emphasize the horizontal lines. A clock is centered in the uppermost band of the facade.

Following the Bolshevik Revolution, the structure was seized by the government for the headquarters of the secret police, then called the Cheka. In Soviet Russian jokes it was referred to as the tallest building in Moscow, since Siberia could be seen from its basement. Another joke referred to the building as "Adult's World" as compared to "Children's World," the name of the popular toy store across the street.

See you soon!
Hurray to ETVT!

Hi mom!
On sunday I was in Tsaritsino park (Tsar in Russian is "King" and "Tsaritsa" - is queen.)

Quote:
Tsaritsino museum and reserve in Moscow was founded in 1984 in the park of the same name. The estate is known from the late 16th century, when it belonged to Tsarica Irina, sister of Tsar Boris Godunov. At that time it was called Bogorodskoye. In the 17th century it belonged to the Streshnevs and then to the Galitzines. In 1775, when the estate was bought by empress Catherine the Great, it received its present name, which means “Tsarina’s”. In 1776-85 architect Vasili Bazhenov built a new palace for the Empress here, but in 1786 Catherine ordered it to be partly pulled down. Until 1797 architect Matvey Kazakov was working on the construction, but the palace remained unfinished. Currently, in Tsaritsino there are a history and architecture museum, a landscape park with an adjacent forest, an art museum, the Biryulyovo dendropark, and a cascade of the Tsaritsino ponds.

Bazhenov's "Opera House", 1776-1778.The 18th-century architecture ensemble was built (though not finished) following the order of Catherine II in pseudo-Gothic style, after projects of the Bazhenov and Kazakov, and it is the only 18th-century architectural ensemble of such dimensions in Russia. Around the palace, in the park there are a number of pavilions, pergolas, arbours, artificial grottos, decorative bridges (early 19th century, architect I. Yegotov), and a Russian Orthodox temple “Source of Life”, as well as a modern recreation center with an upscale restaurant. For a long time most buildings were ruined (and alpinists used them for training). Recently most buildings have been "completed": rooftops, interiors and decorations have been added and their historical appearance has been altered. A number of buildings house the Russian museum of folk and applied art. The atrium of the “Bread House” is used for concerts of Moscow musicians.

The park was overcrowded! And the most part of visitors were near fountain :)
I like large green field where it is so pleasant to spend time and having rest!

I`ll stay in touch mommy ;)
Dusel.

Hello mummy!
On Sunday I had a bicycle trip through Moscow - just to move faster.
First we saw the exhibition of Russian architect Zurab Tsereteli:
Quote:
Zurab Konstantines dze Tsereteli (born January 4, 1934 in Tbilisi) is a controversial Georgian-Russian painter, sculptor and architect who holds the office of President of the Russian Academy of Arts.

He has museum of his arts, but we were only in the yard where there are enough sculptures. Some of them are really funny :)
Near this museum very nice church is situated and I took my chance to take picture with it as well.  B)

After long riding my TV-friends and I decided to have dinner in Vietnamese restaurant. It was really delicious!

And at the end of great day we had a short look to the Kremlin and I made a picture with one of the Towers!
Hugs,
Dusel.

I`m on my way to Finland! Maria took the picture of me by her phone when we were at the post-office waiting in a long queue (it seems that all TVs from Russia are leaving it today).

Yay! Wohoo! I'm in Finland! My host picked me up from the post office on her way to the town - and I got to do sightseeing right away when I got out of my package  :D I told my host Muumipeikko sent his greetings - my mentor hots my host's tv  :cyclops:

This is Porvoo, a city established in 1346 and now with about 48000 inhabitants. It's only 50km (less than 1h drive) east from the capitol, Helsinki.

I'm standing on the river (quite exactly on the spot where the Lat. & Long. take you), looking around. The riverside is a popular place for bar&restaurant visits in the summer. On the other side of the river they're building a campus area with a movie theatre and art exhibitions. The houses on the shore are modern versions of the old shore warehouses (seen later in the next update). People have paid good money to get to live in those :)

As you can see the river is full of boats! All newer but there are some old ones - mmostly for cruising purposes. one of them is the old wooden schooner is called Marita, built in 1947.

We continued our walk by the river to the Old Town side of Porvoo. In the first photo are the new shorehouses and in the next you can see the old ones, the ones that are the most wellknown sight in this town.

This is what the website tells about the old shore houses:
The shore houses are now red, but they got their colour only in the late 18th century. Red ochre paint was used to paint the shore houses in honour of King Gustav III's arrival from Sweden. All of the houses along his route were painted, in order to make them more beautiful. The red ochre also helped protect the logs from wind and sun damage. Exotic fruits, wines and spices were brought to Porvoo, and the shore houses also served as intermediate storehouses for coffee an tobacco. Today the shore houses are used as private living quarters and storage space.

I saw some paddlers on the river and one of the sighseeing "cruisers", bargass Borgå. That small wooden bridge is the first one ever built across the river in Porvoo. On the other side you can see a hill where used to be a castle hundreds of years ago - but more about that when I visit the hill itself.

On certain spots you can see framed paintings by Albert Edelfelt. He has painted those certain spots a hundred or two years ago. It was quite fascinating to see the painting and the same view in person!

This is the Baltic Sea. It's just that the archipelago is blocking the view... But somewhere over there, quite nearby is the small island where Tove Jansson, the creator of Moomin spent her summers. Did you know that the Moominhouse was drawn after a lighthouse that really exists? No wonder Moominpappa loves the sea  B)

This is me in the Finnish Sauna  :D In Finland every household has a sauna - or in case of a block of flats, then there usually is one sauna for the whole highhouse. Anyway. This is my host's sauna.

Sauna is a room that you heat up (there are saunas that are heated with wood and saunas that are heated with electricity), preferably 60-80 degrees Celsius (that varies, some people like it even hotter). Then you take a shower (just to get wet, it's not pleasant to be dry in a sauna) before you enter the sauna (naked!). In sauna you just sit and relax and maybe throw some water on the hot stones (to get more heat and steam). Sauna relaxes your muscles and opens your skin pores, which makes you clean from the inside  :)

After a while (when you feel like it) you go to the shower again to get wet and re-enter the sauna. You can repeat it as many times as you want. In the end you shower to wash yourself.

In summerhouses people also have saunas. There it's tradition to make (or buy) a birch whisk with which you beat yourself gently in the sauna. The whisk has the leaves on so it won't hurt.

There are saunas in gyms and swimming halls but there men & women are divided in separate saunas. Otherwise, with friends and family, it's normal to go to sauna together.

Finns even have a Sauna Society!

We went to the city to play in a park that is bigger than the ones near my host. The park personnel had organized a small festival. We got to put flowers on a "pole" (this has something to do with the swedish speaking Finns, they call it a "maypole"). There were different games to play - oh, and the fire trucks came and an ambulance and we got to see inside them! Then there was a chance to barbecue and all sorts of food! It was really fun  B)

Wikipedia says this about the Finnish Midsummer:
Before 1316, the summer solstice was called Ukon juhla, after the Finnish god Ukko. In Karelian  tradition, many bonfires were burned side by side, the biggest of which was called Ukko-kokko (the "bonfire of Ukko"). After the celebrations were Christianized, the holiday is known as juhannus  after John the Baptist (Finnish: Johannes Kastaja).

Since 1955, the holiday is always on a Saturday (between June 20 and June 26). Earlier it was always on June 24. A lot of the celebration of midsummer takes place on midsummer eve, when many workplaces are closed and shops have to close their doors at noon.

In the Finnish midsummer celebration, bonfires (Finnish kokko) are very common and are burnt at lakesides and by the sea. Often two young birch trees (koivu) are placed on either side of the front door to welcome visitors. Swedish-speaking Finns often celebrate by erecting a midsummer or maypole (Swedish midsommarstång, majstång).

In folk magic, midsummer was a very potent night and the time for many small rituals, mostly for young maidens seeking suitors and fertility. Will o wisps were believed to be seen at midsummer night, particularly to finders of the mythical "fern in bloom" and possessors of the "fern seed", marking a treasure. An important feature of the midsummer in Finland is the white night and the midnight sun. Because of Finland's location spanning around the Arctic Circle the nights near the midsummer day are short or non-existent. This gives a great contrast to the darkness of the winter time.

Many Finns leave the cities for Midsummer and spend their holiday in the countryside. Rituals include bonfires, sauna and spending time together. Heavy drinking is also associated with the Finnish midsummer.

Many music festivals of all sizes are organized on the Midsummer weekend. It's also common to start summer holidays on Midsummer day. For many families the Midsummer is the time when they move to the countryside to their summer cottage by the lake. Midsummerday is also the Day of the Finnish Flag. The flag is hoisted at 6 pm on Midsummer eve and flown all night till 9 pm the following evening.

I went to the local sightseeing tower with my host. In the tower I got a relly good view over the city of Porvoo!

The story tells that the sightseeing tower was made by a giant: he heard that they were building a church in Porvoo and got angry (apparently giants don't like churches) and threw a stone all the way from Sipoo (where he lived, a place not too far from Porvoo). He didn't either aim it too well or his arm wasn't in good enough condition as he missed the church.

The stone has been a place to gather for festives a hundred years ago. Kids were told that babies were picked up from under the stone. Around 1880 they made the stairs and it became a sightseeing tower. Nowadays kids are told that a stork brings the babies - which is weird because you very rarely see storks in Finland...

It's hot in here!  B)

It's +28'C! After taking the photo it rose above +30'C  - in the shadow!  :o It's summer allright  B)

Then it finally started to rain - for about 20 minutes... The raindrops were huge! Kids ran outside with their clothes on  :stare: And like that wouldn't have been enough, they filled buckets with water and threw at each other  When the rain stopped they danced hand in hand in a circle signing "more rain, more rain, more rain"  :D

We drove to Tampere, a city about 200km north/northwest from Porvoo. There are over 200 000 inhabitants (second biggest after Helsinki) in this city that lies between two lakes. We started our tour at the other end of the main street Hämeenkatu. There's Alexander Church and next to it the main library. We were there so early that nothing was open so we just hang out, waiting.
Delenna

Posted Jul 19, 2010, 6:43 pm
Finally we got to see a Moomin exhibition! There's one constant display of the original Moomin artwork - and even the original Moomin house! We weren't allowed to take photos inside the exhibition but we took some outside and by the door... You can see some photos from the inside here.

After the Moomins we walked back the main street, to the city center. There's the local busstation, Old Church (the yellow, wooden building, built in 1824 as the first church in Tampere), threatre (yellow stone building next to the church)... And the very first McDonald's in Finland  :D

We found a pink candy buss  :stare: Bought some sweets and continued our walk down to the harbour/market place called Laukontori, the place where several lake cruises start.

More info on Tampere in Wikipedia.
Delenna

Posted Jul 19, 2010, 7:02 pm
The real reason we came to Laukontori was Ankkaralli, a duck rally  :cyclops:

4000 numbered rubber ducks were dropped in the lake and 60 fastest swimmers got prizes. People were able to "buy" certain ducks for 5 euros each. Our number didn't win anything but the money went to a good cause: the internationalization of students at Proakatemia.

If you have Flash Player 8 and JavaScript, then you should be able to watch this video of the event  ;)

After a hot, long day of sightseeing, duck rallying and Moomins... we went for a swim in the lake Näsinjärvi. You can see the needletop tower in the background, right? That's Näsi Tower in Särkänniemi adventurepark. That's our destination tomorrow  B)

This is Särkänniemi Adventure Park! It's more than just an amusement park as it has a dolphinarium, a planetarium, an aquarium, art museum, children's zoo and the observation tower Näsinneula.  B)

We started with the dolphin show and continued to the rides. We also saw the planetarium show and zoo.

It was hot and sunny but not too crowded  :)

Finally we went to the tower...
Delenna

Posted Jul 19, 2010, 8:41 pm
Last but not least we went to the Näsinneula observation tower. With the top at 168m it's the highest observation tower in the Nordic Countries. The views are seen at 124m. The lift goes 6m/second so your ears might "get locked"  :stare:

The views are quite amazing up there! You get a really good look over the city and the lakes. It was a perfect way to end my trip in Tampere.

I'm super excited! We travelled to Vienna today and then to the airport! We checked the luggage in and then went for a small snack! Finally it was time for boarding! We travelled to Riga first where we had to change planes and then took our second flight to Helsinki!
Late in the afternoon we arrived in Helsinki and took the airport bus to the city center. From there it was only a short walk to our hotel!
After this journey we were pretty tired and decided to go to bed early!

Hi Mom and welcome to Helsinki, Finland's capital!

To get a first impression of the Finnish Capital, we took a "Hop on, Hop off" bus! It was a great tour, around the city center and then down to the harbour. These tours are great! You get some headphones and then they tell you a lot of interesting stories. We stopped our tour at Helsinki's Cathedral. It is a beautiful white building and you can see this Cathedral from many different points of Helsinki!
That was a great first day in Helsinki!

Hi Mom!

Today we took the boat to the city of Porvoo! It was a long trip, three and a half hours. It was also a really hot day and we enjoyed the wind on the boat.
In Porvoo we had lunch first in a nice restaurant near the sea. Then we went on to explore the city. It is a cute little town, with small wooden houses, restaurants and a few shops. The streets are all lined with cobblestones!
We went up on this little hill, with the church on top. But we were not allowed to visit the church as there was a wedding!
We enjoyed the view from up there.
Because it was so hot, we then relaxed in a park and ate some berries. There are stands that sell berries everywhere in Finland!

Soon it was time to travel back! Unfortunately the weather on the way back got a little ugly and it started to rain.
Wow, we are exhausted now!

Hi Mom!

Today we went to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Suomenlinna! You have to take a boat there, but it is just a few minutes trip. So we went through the city to the harbour. We also visited the famous Stockmann store. Down at the pier we also visited the market, where you could buy lots of delicious food.

Then we travelled to Suomenlinna and wandered around this old fortress. We saw the canons and explored everything. All this exploring was really exciting but we were also happy when we were finally sitting in a nice cafe for lunch!

Bye!

Hi Mom!

Today we left Helsinki and took a speed boat to Estonia's capital Tallinn. We first deposited our luggage at the hotel and then went on exploring!
To get a first impression of the city, we took a tour with the classical hopp on, hopp off bus. We learned a lot about the city. Then we strolled a bit through the old town.
That's all for today! Tomorrow we have to get up early as we want to explore the old town properly!

Hi Mom!

Today we visited Toompea, the old town. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can find so many old buildings here, all beautifully renovated. There is so much history to explore here. We also saw this beautiful orthodox church, which was even more beautiful on the inside, but we weren't allowed to take pictures there. You can also see me in front of a touret of Toompeas castle, it's the one with the Estonian flag flying, which is the seat of the Parliament!
In the evening we went to the highly recommended Oude Hanse, a really great restaurant in the style of Medieval times. We had a huge dinner there, with bear and elg sausages, honey beer and some schnapps.
What an exciting day!

Hi Mom!

Today we visited the famous Kadriorg Park! It is a wonderful place to spend nice afternoons. There is this great swan lake at the entrance to the park and also a wonderful cafe.
People go there to have a walk, a run or just sit on a bench and read a book. We also saw the President's residence. Then we went from this park to the sea promenade where you can find a huge monument.
We also visited the KuMu, a museum for art. We saw an exhibition and then had a bite to eat in the restaurant there.

So Mom, tomorrow we will go back to Helsinki and then we fly home!

We are back at home now and of course we had a lot to do: There was the laundry, and giving away the souvenirs.
So we enjoyed our free time at home at the balcony.

You can see that our host mom has a small vegetable garden on the balcony. She has tomatoes there, cucumbers, beans, pomegranate, herbs, pepper, but also flowers.

We really like gardening and of course also eating the vegetables!

Hello Mum,
Today we jumped on some buses as we took my host's relative back to the station. We went on to the Isle of Anglesey to a well-known but not well-said village - Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKY-n5sSTLI/AAAAAAAACP4/bwDL-aHJ7cU/duselllanfair.jpg
We are 4241 miles from Miami, 3262 miles from New York....
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKY-osoLkWI/AAAAAAAACP8/Lv2v6SzuJIk/duselllanfair2.jpg
There is a station. The sign gives an approximate pronunciation of the name.
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKY-pHQEIfI/AAAAAAAACQA/Yq3DYsd3OqY/dusellanfair3.jpg
After lunch in nearby Menai Bridge, we walked across the Menai Bridge which spans the Menai Straits.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKY-pvEl4aI/AAAAAAAACQE/bnfe1EY4yGo/duselllanfair4.jpg
There is a second bridge, the Britannia Bridge which also crosses the Straits.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKY-ypqrfVI/AAAAAAAACQs/TCLeWu5AnpQ/menaicache.jpg
On Menai Bridge, someone has placed a GeoCache. My host had previously found it one lunchtime and was on the verge of giving up....
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKY-qRZvMdI/AAAAAAAACQI/x5TbCWs6F6o/duselllanfair5.jpg
We then got to the "mainland" to wait for the bus to take us into Bangor and then for another bus on home.

Hello Mum,
Today, we have come to see Bryn Celli Ddu. This started out as a henge but was covered to become a burial mound with a chamber. It dates back to the Neolithic period.
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKZHVMrUbbI/AAAAAAAACSA/OgnN2-0Vzrw/duselcelli1.jpg
Below is the entrance.
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKZHV99T2zI/AAAAAAAACSE/yRSBrY2CQws/duselcelli2.jpg
I think we can squeeze through that gap.

Here we are in the chamber

In the photo below, just above Charlie B. is a letter from someone to a friend who died.

Hi Mum,
Today, we had a GeoCaching day, in and around the Snowdonian village of Llanberis.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKZHXV_AEfI/AAAAAAAACSM/DzsI2hPsIXQ/duseldoc1.jpg
First off, was a walk around Coed Doctor, a community woodland.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKZHJp_1bdI/AAAAAAAACRI/6mLXPN_IeFc/coeddoc1.jpg
The first cache was easy to find.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKZHKVXCdDI/AAAAAAAACRM/iwTv4p8kcP8/coeddoc2.jpg
The second was easy to find but hard to get to - my host's son was put on to my host's husband's shoulders to retrieve the cache.
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKZHLN1-2rI/AAAAAAAACRQ/j5zKE05EdrU/coeddoc3.jpg
And the third cache here was near the lake.
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKZHMAnYeOI/AAAAAAAACRU/2Eg6zDCh6gA/snowdoncache1.jpg
The next cache was high up in the hills.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TKZHNW3yBwI/AAAAAAAACRY/0UbUIvvQWbw/snowdoncache2.jpg
The cache is in the Snowdon View series.

Snowdon is visible in this picture.

Hi Mum,
Today, we have come to Barclodiad-Y-Gawres, a Neolithic chambered cairn. It was a public grave for the local farming community.

Hi Mum,
Today, we have come back to Anglesey, to Din Lligwy. There is a Neolithic burial chamber constructed before 3000 B.C. Also, there is a Roman-British settlement of stone buildings, and the ruins of a medieval chapel.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgmzt6ZWNI/AAAAAAAACUU/DnVW-5pP8fY/s512/duselllig1.jpg
The chapel was built in the 12th century with some rebuilding in the 14th century and an extension in the 16th century.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm-oyRnpI/AAAAAAAACVI/XSfJwneSGwc/lligwya.jpg
Can you see me on the wall?
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm0DSnLwI/AAAAAAAACUY/v6bRj9O_zOY/duselllig2.jpg
There was a bell.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm1Fcn7SI/AAAAAAAACUc/tTEKfdtYE4I/duselllig3.jpg
You can see some of the North Anglesey coast.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm16PsXWI/AAAAAAAACUg/H2Pn2tqKz6U/duselllig4.jpg
We have come to the settlement. The site was excavated in the early 20th century, finding various things from the 3rd and 4th century including animal bones with some made into tools and even a musical instrument.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm_ZRiWlI/AAAAAAAACVM/hbPbDZ5Tkgg/dinlligwy1.jpg
There were a few buildings in this settlement.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm22Ai04I/AAAAAAAACUk/v4c7-cDc2ak/duselllig5.jpg
This was a large building.
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgnAesBZ9I/AAAAAAAACVQ/NxGckUMZS94/dinlligwy2.jpg
My host took this photo from outside the "building".
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgnBApIE6I/AAAAAAAACVU/EGY2FthpguE/dinlligwy3.jpg
A slightly closer look at us.
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm8F7OU6I/AAAAAAAACU8/wZ63ScDCZCY/s512/lligwy1.jpg
This is the burial chamber, constructed before 3000 B.C., and was excavated in the early 20th century after the settlement. The capstone weighs 25 tons.
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm85zRgCI/AAAAAAAACVA/Lhz6AsuGXCE/lligwy2.jpg
It is a big slab!
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7ODftPSZPsY/TLgm9hL5hgI/AAAAAAAACVE/ijbBX_R2Zwg/s512/lligwy3.jpg
My host's son was able to go underneath the capstone.

Hello Mum,

It is me - Dusel. Are you surprised to see me like that? It is Halloween!!! We all  wanted to go as ghosts - but to tell the truth, RikeH is not really good in creating costumes, although she spent hours on it. Well now I look like something between a ghost and a mummy, but I am sure, we will have fun this day.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A244.jpg

Well, we went outside and stopped at the first house we found. It seems to be winter? A funny snowman.

Can you see me in my costume?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A229-1.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A230.jpg

The door opened and we sang a song - and recited a poem.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A232.jpg

Good luck for us - we got sweets.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A233.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A235.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A237.jpg

Well - it was a rainy day - so we decided to go back onto our armchair.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A238.jpg

We put away our costumes - well - not everybody did it. Maybe a real ghost - we all were very curious.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A249.jpg

Fortunately not - it was a new ToyVoyager here - called Hoots. We were very surprised, because we didn't know that he would come. He was invited more than 6 weeks ago...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A250.jpg

Dicker Kumpel gave him a warm welcome.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A251.jpg

RikeH told us that we should eat something normal, before eating all the candys, so we had some burgers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A252.jpg

I shared mine with Bernd.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A253.jpg

It was yummy. We will spend the rest of the day looking out of the window - and watching the ghosts outside.

The weather was awful here the last days.So we were not able to go outside.

We decided to play Pool. Dicker Kumpel showed us how to play.

These are the balls I had to put into the edges.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A353.jpg

I tried it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A348.jpg

Very successful - I won the game!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A356.jpg

After it we played in the room. It seems that horses lived here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A362.jpg

Then I tried to call you, but you were not at home.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A369.jpg

I will come home now - so I had to say goodbye to Dicker Kumpel.

He is such a nice host - I will miss him.

Muumipeikko helped her to wrap this chocolate for her American penpal,

I was writing a card to Mummipeikko's mum...

and Bubo discovered a present from St Nicholas. The words say, that the present shouldn't be opened until December 6th.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp226/kawie88/103_6814.jpg

We surprised Muumipeikko with a little surprise. It was his last afternoon here in Germany. Tomorrow he will travel back home to Finland. after spending a nearly a year in Germany.

Hi MOM! I made it safe & sound to Colorado, USA! It was a quite a lovely day for me to arrive here as I guess it was the warmest December 3rd in 125 years in Colorado. The temperature read 69 degrees F today. My host tells me that is a very very warm for this time of year here. They haven't even gotten much snow!

I was also lucky to get here tonight because it was the Denver Parade of Lights. Pea told me that every year at this time, Denver has a big celebration downtown where people march through the streets to celebrate Christmas.

I was so excited that I was going to be able to go! Here is a picture of me arriving downtown with Pea. There was this really cool church behind the parking lot so we thought it would be neat to get a picture of it. Parking is so expensive here! It was $15.00 USD to park for the evening.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/IMG_2389.jpg

Then we walked to the parade. Unfortunately, traffic was really really bad so we were 30 minuets late & didnt get a very good spot to watch and take pictures. There were lots of tall people in front of us! Pea's person was nice enough to climb up on some water pipes so we could see above the crowds, but we were in an alley that was too dark for pictures. I did get to see some really cool things though. There were lots of high school marching bands that played all sorts of holiday music. There were also big floating balloons that took several people to hold down on the ground. (Kind of like the famouse Macy's Parade in New York.)

After the parade we walked back to the car and we spotted a good picture for me to get the city lights in the background.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/IMG_2421.jpg

The town next to where I'm staying has a big light display in their main park & we stopped there on the way home for a photo shoot! Here is Pea & I in the gazeebo. We are really small  above the steps. But it is such a pretty picture!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/IMG_2445.jpg

Here is one closer so you can see my pretty face.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/IMG_2446.jpg

Then, Pea wanted some close up pictures so we posed next to some garland and red bows.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/IMG_2450.jpg

It was very cold out so we scurried back to the car quickly. I finally arrived home and boy and I am exhausted! Pea showed me my room for the duration of my stay. It's quite cute! I will be meeting all the other guests tomorrow & I will update you then!!!

I got a great nights rest last night! I very much like my own personal room that Pea set up for me in her pink house. I still feel slightly jet lagged, but I was able to shake it off as the day went on. Pea said that we had to go run errands today for her person. We got to ride around in the car for a couple of hours & and I hung my head out the wndow to see the sights.

We had to buy some Christmas decorations, and it looks like we went home with a small forrest in the trunk of the car!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1496.jpg

Then, I spotted this big green monster in front of the house. It was sooo cool! Pea explained to me that it was a tractor that they used to push snow in the winter and cut the grass in the summer. I really really wanted to try it out, but we were quickly taken away once our host figured out what we were up to - but not before I requested a picture!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1497.jpg

When we got inside, we were greeted by a ton of geckos wishing me a happy arrival! There were so many of them - all of different sizes and colors. Most of them Pea said were created by her person.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1498.jpg

Here is a close up of me with the sign they made for me. My name is tiger striped!!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1499.jpg

Pea visited with some friends this afternoon while I got to help her person make some Christmas candle holders. They are made out of paper & then we punched designs into the paper with needs so that the light shines through them. We have 40 to make by next Friday. Eeesh!

Tonight, Pea and my host brought me to the Denver Botanic Gardens. On our drive there, Pea let me do some research on her phone so I could find out what I was in for. According to Wikepedia, the DBG is: "a public botanical garden located in Denver, Colorado in the Cheesman Park neighborhood. The 23-acre (93,000 m2) park contains a conservatory, a variety of theme gardens and a sunken amphitheater, which hosts various concerts in the summer. Woody Allen's 1973 movie Sleeper filmed some scenes at the gardens."

During the summer its filled with beautiful flowered gardens. During the winter, the flowers die off and they turn the garden into a winter wonderland of lights! We got to walk around the park and look at all the lights. They say that there were over 1 million little light bulbs!

Here is me at the beginning of the park. It was a small, long water fountain. There were spouts of water that changed colors & went up & down.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1534.jpg

Further down the walk by the water, we found that there were snowflakes hung on a wall.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1538.jpg

Later on, we saw this part of the garden where they had dug little holes in the ground and put lights in them. The plans around them had blue lights put in them with a snowflake at the top of the hill.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1539.jpg

Here is Pea & I checking out some of the winter grass in the park. We also found some of the wires for the lights - we were trying to figure out where all the plugs were! We thought it would be funny if we could unplug all the lights. he he he!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1559.jpg

My host said it was really hard to take pictuers in the dark because of not enough light! It's hard to tell in this one - but we are sitting in front of some Roman looking columns covered in lights.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1571.jpg

This was a funny looking tree. There were all sorts of people standing around trying to guess what type it was. The best guess was some kind of flowering Yucca. But it was really really tall!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1578.jpg

Really big snowflake!
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1592.jpg

This ice sculpture was really cold on my paws!!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1594.jpg

Here is another ice sculpture that we came across in the park. it was a bunch of different sized snowmen. I wish I had mittens on while I was sitting on these! Eventually my little feet went numb so I didnt feel it anymore. he he he!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/photo1.jpg

Im sitting on the scarf of the snowman on the left.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/photo2.jpg

Still sitting on the scarf. Can you believe how big these thigns are??

Pea insisted on us having a picture with this sculpture. She said it reminded of her of scales on a real gecko.

Today, I was finally showed around town! My host drove me around the town that I'm staying in and the adjoining town.

Both are very small. The town of Elizabeth is really laid back and is almost like a small western town like out of one of those movies! Here is a picture of me in front of one of the local shops. Guess what it makes?? Cowboy hats! Its a store dedicated to making cowboy hats!

(We're sitting on the bench.)

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1513.jpg

Accross the street is the library. That building is over 100 years old!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1514.jpg

Here is the local law office. We met a nice duck there dressed as santa! He was very nice.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1515.jpg
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1516.jpg

Then, we drove to the next town over called Castle Rock. You can see in this picture why it is called that! Its a giant rock. There is no real castle on it. But if you kind of squint your eyes - it SORT of looks like one. :)

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1520.jpg

Then we came home & then my host's boyfriend has his car out. He builds race cars! This is a Ford Mustang that he rebuilt all on his own. This one ran the quarter mile in over 140 mph in 11.1 seconds! It is even the same color as me!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1597.jpg

Also, I got to meet the dogs in the house - Nan and Chloe. Nan is a Japanese Chin and Chloe is a chihuahua. They really wanted to lick me!

Tonight, I got to write my letter to Santa Clause! It was quite a new concept to Pea & I - we got to do them electronically! I kept asking me host if she was sure that they were going to get there. She promised me that Santa had elves waiting by the computers at the North Pole 24/7 this time of year waiting for our wish lists.

Santa's form made me fill out some information before I wrote him a letter. One of the questions was if I had been "naughty" or "nice" this year. Does anyone really fill out naughty?!?!?

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1607.jpg

Then I got to start typing. The touch screen was very difficult on my paws....

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1608.jpg

Here is what my letter said:

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1610.jpg

Then here's what it said when I submitted it!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1611.jpg

My host said the elves are probably processing it write now - making sure it gets in Santa's "to-do" list, then he'll respond, the elves will spell check, make sure that they have my requests in stock , then pack santas bag and then send my letter back! I hope it doesn't take long...

In the mean time, Pea & I decided to read a holiday story...

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1612.jpg

Pea must have bad eye sight because she kept getting really close to the screen...

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1614.jpg

When we were done, we checked the clock again - and still no response yet from santa. The suspense is killing me! Hopefully it will be back inthe morning....

Hi Mom! It has beeng quite chaotic around here with my host getting ready for her Christmas party. It was last night & I got to attend in her purse along with Pea. We had a great time! She kept dropping bits of food in our pouch so we could enjoy the catering. I think I may have eaten way too much Boston Cream Pie and drank to much Egg Nog as my tummy hurt a little bit this morning. I may have gained a couple of pounds too...

Tonight, we drove around one of the neighboring towns to look at the Christmas lights on people's homes. We first stopped and got some hot chocolate at this place called Starbucks. My host got a salted caramel hot chocolate. I ate all the whipped cream off the top of her drink. :)

Once we were prepared with nourishment, we turned up the Christmas tunes and started driving around. This picture was one of the more festive homes. In addition to the lights that they hung up on the house, they changed their normal light bults into all sorts of different colors!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1619.jpgnull

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1623.jpg

This was another neat house that we saw!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1632.jpg

Then, on the drive home, Pea noticed this gigantic star in the distance. She was convinced that it was one in the sky. However, my host didn't quite believe her. So we started driving closer to it. It turns out that my host was right - it was attached to someone's roof!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1641.jpg

When we got home, we finsihed decorating Pea's tree with the ornaments that she made a couple of weeks ago. It was a lot of work for us to crawl up and down it with all those ornaments!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1644.jpg

Here we are nestled underneath it staying warm from the glow of the lights. I think we are going to sleep here tonight and until Christmas waiting for Santa :)

Santa finally wrote me back mom!!! I can't believe it took him so long. I can only imagine how many letters he has to respond to though, and I am so excited that he did write me back!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/pg2.png

Then, Pea decided that I needed a hair combing. She insists that I will be meeting someone very important soon. (I'm not sure who though?? or when?? it's a mystery....) She pulled up a picture of some ... inspiration... Fabio. I'm not sure if she was successful in making me look like him though... :-/

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1684.jpg

Also, another TV came today! Her name is Nathalie and she is a duck from Germany too! Here is a picture of us socializing with one of the other fuzzy creatures in the house (but definitely an..uglier one) - Nan.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1667.jpg

While Pea was unpacking Nathalie's box, she realized she forgot to take a picture of the post card and goodie that I came with. She was so excited to get her first TV visitor that she completely forgot! Here we are & Pea is proudly holding her medallion. She said she is going to put it on the tree.

We're going on an adventure tomorrow. Can't wait!

Hi mom! Member how I told you that we would be going on an adventure??? We did!!! We went to a zoo to see real animals today-the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.

It was about an hour away, and on the way there we drove right towards one of the tallest mountains in Colorado - Pikes Peak. Here is us sitting on a fence post with a good  view of the mountain on the left. You can see where we are -it's pretty flat. And pretty brown too! There hasn't been any snow!
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1692.jpg

Then we stopped at one of the top rated restaurants in the state - a place that serves nothing but peanut butter and jelly! Yes -they only make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They make all their peanut butters and jellies every morning. Here is us enjoying a sandwich called "the bomb". It is Ginger peanut butter, jalepeno pear jelly, sprouts, spinach, and red peanuts. Yes -it all sounds quite strange, but it was wonderful! Of course, we had milk too!
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1701.jpg

Here are some pictures of me with some of the animals. We got really close to them!
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1715.jpg
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1720.jpg
Here is a picture looking east. It's sooooo flat!
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1731.jpg

Then mom... Guess what??? I got to meet some real life big cats! Here is me with a lynx. We woke it up....
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1729.jpg

Here are some mountain lions
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1722.jpg

Then here are some real lions! They were huge!
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1704.jpg

Then we came across a part of zoo where they asked for donations to save different types of animals. One of them was for tigers and leopards. We had a couple of quarters and my host let me put a quarter in for the tigers! Whichever animal gets the most votes, the zoo will donate a lot of money to make sure they survive in the wild.
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1695.jpg

Then.....*drum roll* I got to see A REAL TIGER!!!!!!!! Now why Pea and Nathalie wanted me to look good - I needed to look presentable! Mr. Tiger was sleeping, but I did get to see him! It was so exciting!

Tonight we helped Pea & our host plant their Christmas Amaryllis. An Amaryllis is a big giant flower that only blooms in the winter months. It starts out as a bulb, then grows really tall, blooms, and then just sprouts leaves until next Winter.

They are very popular around here and are sold at the super markets. They are sold in "kit" form and usually come with a pot, dirt, and the flower bulb. Here is us with all the parts we will need....

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1735.jpg

The brown cookie looking thing is actually the dirt. We have to put the dirt cookie in water to turn it into dirt.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1736.jpg

It's dissolving...

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1737.jpg

It sucked up all the water & turned into the leaning tower of Dirt!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1738.jpg

We demolished the tower and turned it into a nice new home for the bulb.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1741.jpg

And voila! Hopefully we will have a pretty flower in a couple of weeks.

It's Christmas Eve here in Colorado! We were very much hoping to see some snow, but, alas, no.... We did see an interesting statistic though on the news tonight that said in the past 100 years, it has only ever been a "white" Christmas for a little over 30 of them and has only ever snowed ON Christmas 14 of those years. However - my host assures me that it has never been so ... brown... as long as she can remember.

It was a lovely evening tonight with an amazing sunset. What made it so cool was all the lines in the sky from the planes.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1752.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1754.jpg

To get everyone in the mood for Christmas, we lit a fire this evening. It was quite lovely! We had to keep fighting off the small dogs for the spot in front of the fire. The Chihuahua named Chloe kept bumping us out so she could warm herself.

We are going to sleep by the Christmas tree tonight in hopes that we get to see Santa... Our host said the goodies in the stocking are for us!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS MUM!!!! It's Christmas here in Colorado for another 1 hour and 6 minutes. :) I had a wonderful day here with my TV friends and my hosts. When we woke up, we could see that santa had filled our stocking (but more on that later). We really wanted to open it up, but we had some things that we had to do first.

There was still some wrapping to be done before we headed over to my hosts parent's house for the evening. We were very helpful!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1765.jpg

Our host was in such a bussel to get every thing done that she almost wrapped us. :)

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1766.jpg

Since it was such a nice day out, we went for a drive in the super fast car. It only gets to go out when the weather is good because its missing...uh... some essential comforts in it - like windshield wipers. A heater. And air conditioning. We were surprised to see so many people on the road today! We went to a very neat place called Daniels Park. You can see for miles in every direction.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1769.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1771.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1773.jpg

Then, as we were driving out - we saw some big furry things in the distance. As we got closer we realized that they were BUFFALOES! They are actually quite a common animal out here to raise & buffalo meat is getting more and more popular, says my host. All *I* know is that they are quite funny looking!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1784.jpg

As you can see - we were perched on top of a tall rock! Good thing it wasn't very windy or we could have been blown over the edge!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1778.jpg

It was starting to get late in the day & we decided it was time to head over to my host's parents house for Christmas dinner.

Pea said that there are always festive decorations around the house - and there were!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1788.jpg

Then we were showed a letter from my host's grandma. Instead of sending Christmas gifts this year, she made a donation in the name of her family. It was a very special donation to an organization that sends cows and livestock to third world countries so they can grow & sustain their own food. They sent a beehive and a cow to Africa. Very neat.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1791.jpg

After everyone ate dinner, we migrated to the living room to open the gifts. Holy cow - that pile is huge! At this point I remembered that us TVs forgot to put the name tags on all the gifts we brought... It was a bit confusing trying to get everything to the right people.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1792.jpg

Here we are in front of our host's mom's tree. This one is much easier to take care of than a real one!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1793.jpg

When we got home it was time to open OUR *TV* stocking! Pea, Nathalie and I were so excited!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1794.jpg

Nathalie & Pea were dressed for the occasion so I decided to make myself a hat out of some spare wrapping paper. It even came with its own cape!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1800.jpg

Ta daaa! Can you believe all of this fit into that tiny stocking? I dont know how Santa does it - it must be magic!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1807.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1809.jpg

Here is a closeup of the gingerbread shaped & flavored marshmellows!
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1810.jpg

Then we broke out some of the games that came in our stocking. First up was basketball.
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1812.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1816.jpg

Here is our team picture!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1818.jpg

Then we played a game of crazy 8s.
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1819.jpg

And Nathalie & I played a game of tic-tac-toe. But we were interrupted by a Dog Monster.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1822.jpg

I had a great Christmas mom! I hope you did too!

Our he-host has been spending a lot of time lately  working on one of his cars. Our she-host has been anxious for him to get him done so we decided to go up there tonight and give him a hand. I'm not sure if we were very helpful though...

We are picking out our tools:
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1829.jpg

Nathalie doesn't have hands - only wings, so she was voted to hold the light. I didn't want grease stuck in my fur so I didnt want to go too deep into the car so I offered to hold one of the wrenches. Since Pea has scales, she can easily be washed off and thus she was the one who would "turn the wrench."

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1825.jpg

Here is a close up of me holding the wrench. It was a very important job.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1826.jpg

This is one of the "projects" in the garage, but I think its a little beyond our expertise. It's a little... old...

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1830.jpg

Pea & Nathalie offered to file down some of my claws for me.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1831.jpg

After we got in trouble for playing with the drill looking thing, we decided to go and so something really useful. It's actually snowing here!! So we offered to plow the drive way. However, we were quickly stopped. What is with these hosts not letting us use power tools?? :)

Just wanted to show a couple pictures of the guest house that I am staying in!

We are in the pink two story. Pea sleeps in the hammock. All those things hanging on the walls are pea's clothes! Holy cow!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1845.jpg

Alot of the decorations in there are hand made. The blankets in our rooms are! Mine is a miniature crocheted afgahn! It's been keeping my quite warm.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1847.jpg

Here's the top floor of Pea's house. This is where all of the geckos live! There are so many - all different colors and sizes. Some of them are over 15 years old!

Here is a close of up me with some of them. Along with Henry - the ceramic gecko.

We were watching the news the other night and saw a story about how handwriting is a lost art these days. Most people use computers so less and less children are having to learn good handwriting skills.

Pea told us that her person LOVES hand writing, so we decided to pull out some of her caligraphy supplies so we could learn how to write! Obviuosly - we know how to type - how else would we get our travel logs updated??? In case we ever got lost and needed to write home - we could write a message in a bottle by hand!

First we needed to learn the tools... This is a fountain pen:

We studied some examples:
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1856.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1860.jpg
Did lots of practice letters:
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1858.jpg
And more letters. Repetition is the key!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1859.jpg

Then we practiced our signatures so that when we're famous - we can sign tons of autographs!!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1861.jpg

I'm very excited about tomorrow - we get to go see the horses!

Hiiiiii!!!!

Sorry it's been a week or two since I have updated... I was afraid we lost our host behind a mountain of paper. We've knew she was in there as we would occasionally here a rustle of papers every now and then and her yelling when a stack would fall over. Finally - all the paper is gone and she has emerged victorious!

It has been very cold here in Colorado - so cold in fact that all the major schools in the state have been cancelled for fear that their students will get frostbitten! The high today was -1 F. We wanted to see who could last the longest outside tonight. But no one won - we all started screaming as soon as the door was shut to be let back in.

Once our teeth stopped chattering - we went to see how cold it was outside. Holy cow! And its supposed to be even colder tomorrow! -39!!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1874.jpg

We had bug shaped pasta for dinner this evening. I am a carnivore by nature so I wasnt too convinced with the pasta idea... I would have preferred steak. But it made Pea so happy that I went ahead and ate anyways.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee515/gabbygecko/100_1866.jpg

We also have a new TV in the house! Diddl-Maus has come to stay. I also hear that I will be heading out to Norway this week on my next adventure! I was glad to be able to cross paths with Diddl-Maus for this short period. Thanks everyone in Colorado!

My host showed me some of the puppy books she's reading these days so I know what to expect.

http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr145/DarkMorgaine/ToyVoyager/IMG_1100.jpg

I even got to see the puppy on the computer. Isn't she a nice fur ball? At least as far a canine goes.

But I'm happy I have a safe spot to stay inside the camera bag so the puppy can't get a hold of me.  ;)

I also got to take a short trip outside to check out the view. It's still some traces of winter her with some snow and ice, but we are hoping spring will show up soon.

That's all for now.
Lots of hugs
