Hi guys. For some time different TV´s kept coming to our house. And after I understood the whole idea I decided to become a TV too. THey are all so cool, I want to be just like them!

Today I have only one picture for you. It is picture of me and my TV friends. We are having a goodbye party for me and experienced toyvoyager Fed. We are both leaving for new adventures soon!

Keep your fingers crossed for us! Cheers, Timothy III.

Hi Mum,

I am so happy - I arrived in Sülfeld today. A friendly bunny gave me a warm welcome.
He is called Dicker Kumpel.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1360.jpg

Then he introduced me to the others here. All seems to be very friendly. Some will leave soon.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1361.jpg

I showed my nice postcard and my sweets - unfortunately we were too many for it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1362.jpg

But luckily RikeH had some delicious strawberries for us - so we had a nice meal together.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_1363.jpg

I am sure that I will have a great time here - and I will write more soon.

Hi Mum,

I went to Hamburg today. RikeH and Dicker Kumpel told me something about a Rhino
inside a house. Well - let's see... This is the house - called Levantehaus.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0015.jpg

A nice entrance - but no Rhino.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0016.jpg

Just better - some other wild animals.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0019.jpg

But look Mum - there it is - a wonderful Rhino. Really inside the house.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0020.jpg

Next to him, there are other strange animals.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0021.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0022.jpg

A nice window in the top of the house.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0029.jpg

I went upstairs to get closer to the Rhino and we talked a lot.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0030.jpg

This was really great.

Later we went back home - in the station we saw a lot of trains - this is the fastest
in Germany called ICE train.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0032.jpg

This was our train - not so fast.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0034.jpg

We went upstairs to have a better look.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0036.jpg

The train was very modern.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0038.jpg

I watched out of the window - it was dark outside.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0039.jpg

Bye bye dear train!

Hello Mum ,

the weather was really nice today - so we decided to make a walk around Sülfeld.

I met this funny little guy - nice color!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0058.jpg

No - I didn't eat it.... Look.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0059.jpg

The trees start to change their colors.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0062.jpg

This is the way I walked along.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0063.jpg

RikeH loves this big tree - it is really nice.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0067.jpg

Another nice view on my way.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0070.jpg

I spent some times talking with these cows.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0073.jpg

Later we walked over a bridge. I looked into this direction...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0077.jpg

then into the other. Grass, trees and the ceiling.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0078.jpg

As you know I love flowers - I found these daisies.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0083.jpg

Back home I sat a moment in the garden - and enjoyed the sun.

Hello Mum,

Padi arrived in Sülfeld. We gave him a warm welcome.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0108.jpg

The weather was nice - and we went to Hamburg - a big city in Germany. We are on our way!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0087.jpg

We went into the city park. There were nice flowers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0090.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0091.jpg

There is a big lake in the Park, but it was too cold to swim in it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0097.jpg

Look - the tree has a wonderful color.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0098.jpg

This is a really big lawn, many people were there - played games and flew kites.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0099.jpg

The last thing we saw was the Planetarium - a really nice building.

Hello Mum,

today we went to Bad Segeberg, a nice little town near to Sülfeld. We started in front of this nice old building.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0111.jpg

This is a really funny fountain with a man on it. But the sun was in the wrong direction, so you cannot see it that good. Fortunately we were able to see it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0114.jpg

Next to it there were beautiful flowers - I had to sit next to the flowers!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0119.jpg

Another beautiful old building.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0123.jpg

and the church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0127.jpg

Then we walked up a hill and had a great view of the theatre where they play stories of Karl May in the summer.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0140.jpg

Some minutes later I had this view over the city and the big lake of Segeberg.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0142.jpg

Here you can see all of us.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A0149.jpg

On the way back to our car we stopped at a small lake and met some ducks.

we made a walk to the centre of Sülfeld today. It is autumn now.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A162.jpg

The autumn has wonderful colors.

This is the German Flag.

More sightseeing - the old school.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A168.jpg

It has a beautiful door.

The mayor works here.

Sülfeld has a wonderful church.

On the other side of the street is the pharmacy.

Hello Mum,

RikeH and Dicker Kumpel had a big surprise for me. Look!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A182-1.jpg

Yes, we had a chocolate fondue.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A183.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A184.jpg

First we heat the cream.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A186.jpg

Then I put the chocolate into it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A188.jpg

Ready to start!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A196.jpg

The first one was a grape.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A191.jpg

Then a piece of banana.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A192.jpg

some pineapple...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A194.jpg

So many fruits - chocolate fondue seems to be very healthy.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A195.jpg

Well, I am ready.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A198.jpg

But it was so yummy. I loved this life mission!

Hello Mum,

It is me - Timothy III. Are you surprised to see me like that? It is Halloween!!! We all  wanted to go as ghosts - but to tell the truth, RikeH is not really good in creating costumes, although she spent hours on it. Well now I look like something between a ghost and a mummy, but I am sure, we will have fun this day.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A243.jpg

Well, we went outside and stopped at the first house we found. It seems to be winter? A funny snowman.

Can you see me in my costume?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A229-1.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A230.jpg

The door opened and we sang a song - and recited a poem.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A232.jpg

Good luck for us - we got sweets.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A233.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A235.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A237.jpg

Well - it was a rainy day - so we decided to go back onto our armchair.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A238.jpg

We put away our costumes - well - not everybody did it. Maybe a real ghost - we all were very curious.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A249.jpg

Fortunately not - it was a new ToyVoyager here - called Hoots. We were very surprised, because we didn't know that he would come. He was invited more than 6 weeks ago...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A250.jpg

Dicker Kumpel gave him a warm welcome.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A251.jpg

RikeH told us that we should eat something normal, before eating all the candys, so we had some burgers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A252.jpg

I shared mine with Dicker Kumpel.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A254.jpg

It was yummy. We will spend the rest of the day looking out of the window - and watching the ghosts outside.

Hi Mum,

The weather was awful here the last days.So we were not able to go outside.

We decided to play Pool. Dicker Kumpel showed us, how to play.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A345.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A346.jpg

These are the balls I had to put into the edges.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A350.jpg

I tried it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A350.jpg

Very successful - I won the game!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A358.jpg

After it we played in the room. It seems that horses lived here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A359.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A360.jpg

Then I tried to call you, but you were not at home.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A370.jpg

I will go to my next host now - so I had to say goodbye to Dicker Kumpel.

He is such a nice host - I will miss him.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A374.jpg

But he told me that Katja is a great host!

The others gave me a big hug.

I will write again soon, when I am in Remscheid.

Hi Mummy,

I arrived at my new host's home. Katja and another ToyVoyager, Squirt, were already waiting for me.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1292/5184269127_62528ff086_o.jpg

Rike put a package of liquorice into my envelope, I only tried some of them, but I did not like it.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1294/5184269227_6fe6546369_o.jpg

Than we said "Hello" to the pets. Katja is keeping three ferrets! They were looking really hungry.

In the afternoon we took a walk to the municipal park.

The frist photos were taken close to my current ho me. They are showing houses which are typical for this regioin, the "Bergisches Land".

Hi Mummy,
I helped Katja to put away the things we've bought. We bought sparkling wine, whipping cream, sour cream, cheese, liquorice, shallots and tea.

Later I helped to prepare potatoe wedges.

Hi Mummy,
we finally had great weather today after endless rain.

We took a hiking tour with Katja's friend Erika in Wuppertal, one of the neighbour cities. Katja's own ToyVoyager Nathalie also went with us. She came home from Italy a few days ago.

They have large forests here with valleys, rivers and creeks.

We started our hiking tour on the "Samba-Trasse", a forner railway track, now made to a lane for pedestrians and cyclists.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4083/5195343188_12383fbde3_o.jpg

We walked along a waste inciniratioin plant.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4132/5195343296_79616cc425_o.jpg

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/5194743841_9c0ce3da69_o.jpg

Here you can see one of the abandoned train stations.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4128/5195343708_8afdfc6536_o.jpg

Close to the old station I saw allotment gardens.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4126/5195343856_7a30330f27_o.jpg

We left the Samba-Trasse here and walked into the forest.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/5195343982_a52a014ee9_o.jpg

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4090/5195344120_5be4d50937_o.jpg

There are lots of route markings. Which is the one we have to follow?

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4144/5195344236_16dd828433_o.jpg

Although the sun was shining it was rather cold outside.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/5195344378_2ced3196e3_o.jpg

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4089/5195344510_28bfc142b0_o.jpg

In the valley a sewage works is situated. Can you see it through the trees?

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5081/5194745121_93bfc2a7cc_o.jpg

We walked ... and walked ...

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4091/5195344762_d620ae5752_o.jpg

We reached a part of the forest which belongs to an arboretum. Many trees from foreign countries were planted here. Some of them were really looking strange to me. Katja told me that this tree also was one of the foreign trees.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/5195344900_5d10ced1e8_o.jpg

Those trees on the right side of the next photo are definitely not European trees!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4092/5194745605_886542bd4c_o.jpg

You can find some artwork in the forest, carved mushrooms for example, or those owls. Katja told me that they were "carved" with a chainsaw.

Is there anyone allergic to hazel?

What a lovely blur of colour!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4149/5194746029_8223e89557_o.jpg

When we left the forest we reached the district Wuppertal-Cronenberg, one of the oldest districts with an historic old town centre.

This church was built in 1767 A.D.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4125/5195345920_62bdfc847b_o.jpg

Katja showed me nice old half-timbered houses in narrow alleys.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5241/5194746709_fddd388131_o.jpg

We turned back to the forest to walk towards Remscheid. In the distance you can see the city centre of Remscheid on its hill, the two towers belong to the city hall and the water tower.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4149/5195346252_3a676023cc_o.jpg

After more than four hours walking we returned to the municipal area of Remscheid. My feet were aching really  hard, but I still had to walk to Erika's home to have a coffee.

In the afternoon we started to prepare Christmas presents. Katja made a liqueur with lemon and ginger.

For marking this liqueur you need

150 g ginger
4 all-natural lemons
375 g sugar
375 ml water
175 ml lemon juice
1 bottle vodka (0,75 l)

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/5204302489_390fd8d4bf_o.jpg

First we had to peel the ginger and cut it into thin slices. Than the lemons had be peeled really thin - without leaving anything of the white stuff on the peel. The lemons had to be squeezed.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5248/5204302609_af502e6643_o.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5048/5204900294_129d9cfdbe_o.jpg

Than we had to cook water, sugar, lemon juice, lemon peel and ginger for about 10 minutes.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5084/5204302801_c8de159521_o.jpg

This mixture had to cool down a bit than. We put it into a large glass.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5048/5204302921_4ee70b8d78_o.jpg

Than the vodka was given to the mixture and the glass was closed securely. Now it has to infuse for two weeks. Than we'll have to strain it and fill it into small bottles.

Hi Mummy,
we made a shopping trip to Wuppertal today. Last weekend our hiking tour was following the outskirts of this town. Today we went there with another of Katja's friends.

My first view from the parking deck:

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/5211825003_c40098d6bc_o.jpg

Katja told me that the tower belongs to the city hall. I would see it later.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5042/5211825077_54f3e41193_o.jpg

In the background you can see the skywalk of one of the shopping malls.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/5212424250_9f4a99d3ba_o.jpg

Katja showed me this jewelry in the shopping street. The Wuppertaler Uhrenmuseum (clock museum) is situated here. This three-wheels-clock on the facade was built from parts of an  horse-drawn vehicle which was crashed in an accident.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5002/5212424338_4d95018bc3_o.jpg

This is the city hall with a daily farmer's market in front of it.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5249/5211825489_9e3e626da5_o.jpg

Here you can see the "Bergischer Löwe" (Bergisch Lion), the heraldic animal of the former state "Berg", which existed from 12th to 19th century. Nowadays the lion is the heraldic animal of many cities, also of Remscheid and Wuppertal.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5201/5211825583_584bb52056_o.jpg

This is the rear side of the city hall. Another shopping mall is situated here, also part of the Christmas market.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5281/5211825777_dc28674248_o.jpg

Katja bought a few things here and we went on. Later we went into another shopping mall, this one close to the parking deck.

Here we had a delicious ice cream.

Hi Mummy,
Katja's brother-in-law asked us if we wanted to take a walk with the dog. Of course we wanted!

We started in the district Hohenhagen.

We reached this rural area soon.

Hi Mummy,
we have snow!!!

We took a walk in the city centre because Katja wanted to buy knitting needles.

This is the city hall. A christmas market and an ice skating rink are in front of the city hall.

The large fountain in front of the shopping mall is covered in winter.

Katja  likes this store. You can buy flowers and decorating items here.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4139/5221945814_e457a916e4_o.jpg

Soon we reached the end of the shopping street.

Hi Mummy,
Remscheid is still suffering under tons of snow :)

In our lunch break we took a short walk in the city centre. The sidewalks are partly full of snow, walking is extremely exhausting than.

Here you can see the city hall with the christmas market in front of it.

The water tower is close to the city hall. You can see those two towers of the city hall and the water tower from far away.

it was raining at the weekend and it was much warmer outside. So the snow melted partly.

We enjoyed coffee and delicous Stollen and Baumkuchen.

Baumkuchen is a kind of layered cake. It is a traditional dessert in many countries in Europe. The characteristic golden rings that appear when sliced give the cake its German name, Baumkuchen, which literally translates to "tree cake" or "log cake".

Stollen is a loaf-shaped cake containing dried fruit, and covered with sugar, powdered sugar or icing. The cake is usually made with chopped candied fruit and/or dried fruit, nuts and spices. Stollen is a traditional German cake, usually eaten during the Christmas season.

Hi Mummy,
do you remember the lemon-ginger-liqueur we made two or three weeks before? Today we finished it.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5281/5269007900_f62a46abcd_o.jpg

Katja has collected several small bottles over the year to fill them with the liqueur. First we had to pour the liquid off from the ginger and lemon peel.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5045/5268397599_9a9b7a557f_o.jpg

The liqueur was filled into the bottles. Now we have to print labels and stick them to the bottles.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5121/5268397765_a3762ca851_o.jpg

We'll try the liqueur soon! It should be served chilled.

Hi Mummy,
outside it is snowing without an end. Nobody wants to go out. Instead we prepared more Christmas presents. We made a garlic relish today.

You need lots of garlic bulbs, a little bit oil, aluminium foil and empty glasses.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5167/5277857410_701a195a87_o.jpg

Each garlic bulb had to be wrapped into aluminium foil.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5247/5277246107_ecc7b0c141_o.jpg

Than they were put into the pre-heated baking oven - 180°C - for 45 minutes.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5281/5277246675_e3dc442a7e_o.jpg

In the meantime we looked if it was still snowing. The whole window was covered with snow!

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5288/5277858162_2556367d01_o.jpg

After baling the garlic bulbs were cut into halfes than. The inside was soft than. With a knife or a small spoon the garlic cloves were taken out.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5090/5277246987_a11217798f_o.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5284/5277247111_4b58477a10_o.jpg

We had even two of those bowls full of garlic cloves!

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5123/5277247209_38ed21864a_o.jpg

All the garlic cloves were put into the mixer with some oil.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5204/5277858740_1acdf324fe_o.jpg

The creamy stuff was filled into glasses.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5209/5277858844_a2a9d41470_o.jpg

The surface was covered with some oil. Stored in the fridge you can use this garlic relish for months.

today we met Katja's friend Kerstin and took a walk with her and her dog Pepe.

We went to Wuppertal, to Scharpenacken, a former army training area. This area was used for military purposes until 2004 A.D as a shooting range. Today there is a local recreation area with vast open areas.

Hi Mummy,
today the sun was shining, finally after weeks with a dark grey cloudy sky. Of course we went outside in the afternoon.

The first photo was taken in the street where I am living at the moment.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5086/5277316971_a405cc7777_o.jpg

The large building on the opposite side of this intersection is the local court.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5084/5277928834_882620c756_o.jpg

We decided to take a walk on the "Trasse des Werkzeugs" (Route of tools), a lane for pedestrians and cyclists built on a closed railway track. This lane is about 5 km long, connecting the central station with the district Hasten. The building work was sponsored by local industrial companies. You can find signs with their logos alsong the lane. Here are some of them and also the coat of arms of Remscheid.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5245/5277317185_7561dbb041_o.jpg

Even today you can still find industrial companies along the lane.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5089/5277928998_f72a608a64_o.jpg

Katja likes this lane because you can take a longer walk here with rarely getting into contact with traffic.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5284/5277317507_d911ba5a90_o.jpg

From this point sometimes you can see Colone in the distance.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5284/5277929358_98630f0667_o.jpg

We reached Hasten than, an old district with lots of nice old buildings.

Hi Mummy,
once more it is really ugly outside, rainy and foggy. Because nobody wanted to go outside, we had time for a long breakfast.

Katja bought bread rolls and a Sunday paper.

Hi Mum,
I arrived safely in England late today.
http://i56.tinypic.com/wi3pyw.jpg
It's warmer than Germany and there is no snow. My new host is a student and lives in student accomodation. It's big and lots of people live here. I didn't eat the sweets while travelling like I promised so my host shared them with me. They were yummy!
http://i55.tinypic.com/2e2p1ya.jpg
We played some video games.
http://i54.tinypic.com/291mhyv.jpg
I got to see what we will study in class tomorrow. It was Japanese! It looks difficult but I'm excited!
http://i55.tinypic.com/qy5v21.jpg
I will get to go to university lessons all week!

Hi Mum,
Today was my first day of lessons. I went to Japanese class in the Fylde building.
http://i52.tinypic.com/10n9abd.jpg
Here is the view out of the window, we were very high up.
http://i53.tinypic.com/148pw7a.jpg
Here I am ready to learn!
http://i55.tinypic.com/faor5u.jpg
After the lesson we went back to the flat and I helped cook bacon sandwiches. Learning is hungry work.
http://i52.tinypic.com/ojkyu8.jpg
We also drank hot chocolate, white hot chocolate mixed with normal hot chocolate. It was really creamy.
http://i55.tinypic.com/23t4n04.jpg
Here is the view from the kitchen window. There are lots of flats in student halls.
http://i51.tinypic.com/169j91f.jpg
After sandwiches we hung out in my host's friend's room. He has a big television.
http://i51.tinypic.com/j8lhtg.jpg
I also made some friends. I told them about my adventures. Maybe they would like to explore the world one day.
http://i51.tinypic.com/10q9fmv.jpg
Afterwards we went to one stop, the shop round the corner.
http://i53.tinypic.com/9v8cow.jpg
We looked at the tasty biscuits.
http://i54.tinypic.com/24bnr74.jpg
As I'm in England I had to see the tea!
http://i52.tinypic.com/n1vwub.jpg
Afterwards we went to the chinese supermarket and bought some tinned lyches. We bought some stuffed with pineapple which was very sweet and tasty.
http://i51.tinypic.com/245xc21.jpg
We also bought coconut cream buns that were delivered fresh today. They were very very tasty.
http://i55.tinypic.com/30u3dye.jpg
I had a busy day today! I will be going to another lesson tomorrow.

Hi Mum,
I started today by going to another lesson. It was in the Livesey House building today.
http://i51.tinypic.com/2bbs75.jpg
This time it was about Nationalism and imperialism in Asia and we learnt about Ghandi in India.
http://i54.tinypic.com/1julx4.jpg
That night I got to listen to one of my host's friends play guitar in the kitchen. He was really good!
http://i51.tinypic.com/2h6svpx.jpg
He also had a ukelele!
http://i53.tinypic.com/181avo.jpg
I helped them cook dinner.
http://i56.tinypic.com/2uh8xhh.jpg
It was vegetarian spaghetti bolognese. Doesn't it look tasty?
http://i53.tinypic.com/4ilyr5.jpg
Tomorrow there aren't any lessons but there is still work to do.

Hi Mum,
We woke up at midday today because there wasn’t any lessons. We went to the library to work on a group presentation. I’m afraid I couldn’t help much so I admired the view out of the window.
http://i54.tinypic.com/2ytyb08.jpg
Here I am looking at a few books.
http://i52.tinypic.com/34s55i1.jpg
We went to a small party to celebrate Chinese New Year. It's the year of the rabbit now. We drank special chinese tea.
http://i56.tinypic.com/1zg5bvp.jpg
They had a big chocolate cake to celebrate.
http://i56.tinypic.com/2chnhfq.jpg
I managed to get a piece with the rabbit's bottom on!
http://i51.tinypic.com/2ue6xyf.jpg
For dinner that night we had what we found in the cupboards, it was very mismatched! I helped make some vegetarian sausages. You just add water to the mixture, made them sausage shaped and fry them. It was fun!
http://i52.tinypic.com/116jdzb.jpg
After that we ate some vegetarian sushi. I had a bit with some cucumber in with soy sauce. The soy sauce came in a little fish shaped bottle which was very cute.
http://i51.tinypic.com/wilz86.jpg
For dessert we ate some chocolate. It was a milk tray selection box. I liked the caramel ones the best.
http://i55.tinypic.com/2z4eob9.jpg
Tomorrow we're going to a free concert. I'm a little scared because there will be lots of people but my host and friends say they'll keep me safe.

Hi Mum,
Sorry for the lack of updates. My host had a lot of university work all at once but I helped as much as I could!
http://i51.tinypic.com/2ewcfv6.jpg
I'll do a big update now. I've been to two concerts and even met people from the televison. The first concert had many bands but some were boring so I helped play chess with my host and their friends.
http://i53.tinypic.com/1109deo.jpg
I got to ride in one of their pockets and he made me a hat to wear.
http://i51.tinypic.com/wmdm60.jpg
http://i51.tinypic.com/20qltmb.jpg
When the main band called Brontide played we got to stand right at the front. It was very loud with guitars and drums but no singing. My host says it's called post-rock music. Afterwards they bought the record and I got to be in a photo with the band and my host's friends!
http://i54.tinypic.com/s709.jpg
http://i53.tinypic.com/2livm39.jpg
The second concert was for the acapella band called The Blanks. They are from the television programme called Scrubs. They were very funny and we got to meet the band afterwards! We got our tickets signed.
http://i51.tinypic.com/24pcox0.jpg
I also helped make a big cake. First it was just going to be two seperate cakes.
http://i55.tinypic.com/23r0cyh.jpg
But then we swirled the cake mix together and it stayed like that after it cooked.
http://i51.tinypic.com/2mi0rys.jpg
It was fun icing the cake with lots of chocolate icing and little chocolate stars.
http://i51.tinypic.com/15yhdmx.jpg
The cake was really tasty. I've also been eating cornish pasties.
http://i52.tinypic.com/d9zf9.jpg
And I got to see a duck really close up! Well, I still had a window there to protect me.

Hi Mum,
This is my last update with this host as I'm going to Chile!
I went back to my host's home town with them. We got a train then rode the buses. Here is me waiting for a bus.
http://i51.tinypic.com/2uqlmh0.jpg
I visted their grandparents and helped them in their garden.
http://i56.tinypic.com/raarnd.jpg
http://i53.tinypic.com/287qeyx.jpg
We went out to see the ducks and swans. They told me how big swans are and I got a little afraid. To conquer my fear I got to play with a smaller swan first.
http://i56.tinypic.com/124wmcx.jpg
I managed to get quite close to a real swan as well.
http://i53.tinypic.com/34oqbu1.jpg
We also saw some ducklings. They were very cute.
http://i55.tinypic.com/xdf3hj.jpg
The day before I set out on my travels we had ate pizza, sugar mice and drank sarsaparilla.
http://i56.tinypic.com/v4zams.jpg
The pizza arrived with a piece already missing!
http://i55.tinypic.com/14xhyfk.jpg
http://i55.tinypic.com/2ivyzx2.jpg
Here I am on my way.

Bye bye United Kingdom!

I arrived in Chile! Luckily just in time for the celebration of the Mapuche new year! known as "Wetripantu" in Mapudungun (Mapuche language). Oh, by the way, Mapuches are the chilean aborigines.
First we went around the stands in a square watching and trying some food.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6950.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6952.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6953.jpg

They told me this yellow thing is called "chuchoca", it's dry mashed corn.  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6954.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6955.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6956.jpg

This woman was wearing the typical mapuche dress and jewelry! :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6957.jpg

And this man was wearing the mapuche male costume.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6959.jpg

I found this trolley and wanted to get closer to see what was on sale.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6961.jpg

Candied apples!  :cyclops:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6962.jpg

Yummy!!  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6963.jpg

I heard a puppet show was about to start, so we got closer to see if we could find a good place to watch...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6968.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6969.jpg

...but everywhere was so full that we ended up where the actors were, behind scene!  :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6970.jpg

I saw the very start of the show and recorded a video! :D That way you can hear the sound of the mapuche instruments.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6975.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_6992.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7000.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7008.jpg

I saw something was going on with cameras and microphones so I got closer to see  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7010.jpg

They were cameras from TV! They were interviewing some politician guy...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7012.jpg

As I got closer they didn't take long to notice me and I took part of the interview as well  ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7013.jpg

Soon enough they forgot about the politician and I was the main star,  B) I told them about my journey and ToyVoyagers project.
It was quite an exiting day!! :D

Yesterday we went to walk Leslie's dog, and since our house is in the very edge of the city, the countryside and a forest are just a few steps away!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7019.jpg

This is her, Licy. I was excited to meet her but she didn't really pay much attention to me... she was busy running and playing around...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7020.jpg

From up here you can see our village.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7021.jpg

And this is the view to the other side.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7031.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7049.jpg

Then we walked through a path in the forest, but always near the edge

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7042.jpg

And look what I found! A copihue! The national flower of Chile, which only grows in forests and ravines and it's very hard to find! Most of them are not flowering in this time of the year. How lucky I am!  :cyclops:

Look at this huge fabric! it caught my attention when i came into the house in my very first day here! It's from Bolivia. It's nice isn't it

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7054.jpg

And I also found this big flag. Leslie told me that the red color symbolizes the blood spread during the conquest, the blue color, the sky, and the white color, the snow in the mountains.

I asked Leslie what nice places were there around, and she suggested Ñielol Hill, so in the afternoon he headed there  ;)
We went up in the car and near the parking lot there were these 4 meters tall mapuche totems! They are called Chemamulls.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3540.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3541.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3542.jpg

There was a fallen one near the others, because it was rotten.
I took a closer look at him.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3543.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3544.jpg

Another thing that caught my attention were all the ashes on the ground! They came from Puyehue volcano, which is erupting in the south.  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3545.jpg

From this high view point you can see Temuco, and notice that everything looks kind of white... that's because of the ash fall.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3548.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3549.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3559.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3560.jpg

Mushrooms!  :) how nice!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3561.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3562.jpg

Then we headed to the information centre, which had a little natural museum indise!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3563.jpg

There was an embalmed condor!!! :cyclops: It is the national bird of Chile and also the largest flying bird in the world!! It has a wingspan of about 3.2 m (10.5 ft) and can live up to 100 years!  :o What an amazing bird!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7092.jpg

Then I moved to these "piñones", the seed of Araucaria tree, the national tree of Chile. There were headphones to hear some information.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7097.jpg

Near there was a huge map of the 9th region of Chile, "La Araucanía" which where I am now.
I learned that just in La Araucanía there are 7 volcanoes! And in Chile, more than 2,900!!! which is the 15% of all the volcanoes in the world :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7100.jpg

I saw this embalmed Chilla Fox.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7102.jpg

...And this huge rodent called Coipo.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7105.jpg

Nice teeth buddy!  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7104.jpg

I also saw some other typical birds from this area.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7113.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7114.jpg

And last but not least, a volcanic "bomb". A rock trown by a volcano... lucky that we are not near the erupting volcano! I wounld't really like to see rocks like this falling from the sky!  :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7116.jpg

And that was it.  I really enjoyed today!!  :D

A new TV joined me ! her name is Fiona and she's a lovely llama from USA. I welcomed her and then told her something Leslie had told me just a while ago, We are going on a trip to the north!  :cyclops:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7230.jpg?t=1310868168

We got some supplies into our backpacks and were ready early, but had to wait for Leslie, since she said she needed to get some stuff done before leaving. We were so anxious and she was taking so long!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7238.jpg?t=1310868171

When Leslie was almost ready I suggested that we could go ahead, at least to the garden and wait for her there. But when we were opening the door we heard a voice saying "wait for me!"...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7241.jpg?t=1310868172

It was a pelican asking us not to leave him behind, he introduced himself as Wilson, a resident toy living here at Leslie's house. He said he's coming too  Great! more toys, more fun  :cyclops:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7249.jpg?t=1310868173

And then finally we left! You'll see more pictures later  ;)

Hey mom! We are in La Serena city, in the north!  :cyclops: The weather is much nicer here than in Temuco, and we are next to the sea
Today we visited a japanese garden called Kokoro No Niwa, Leslie told me it means Heart garden. Look at the sign... It's in japanese and spanish! How was I supposed to know the meaning!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/Fotossssss006.jpg?t=1311136814

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/Fotossssss058.jpg?t=1311136826

A lemon!  :o Leslie was talking about how nice it looks hanging on the tree but all I could think was how would it taste in one of my salads... :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/Fotossssss103.jpg?t=1311136845

These are some unfriendly black necked swan turning their backs on me...  I'm a herbivore! I won't hurt you!

I found some lost pictures of the road from Santiago to La Serena  :)
The weather was lovely for 7 hours of drive. That night we had traveled from Temuco to Santiago which was 8 hours long, but traveling is never enough for me  ;)

Windmills!  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/DSCF4081.jpg?t=1311608023

We had traveled so much that we were tired, it was nap time!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/DSCF4131.jpg?t=1311608024

Look at Los Andes mountain range back there!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/DSCF4186.jpg?t=1311608025

The Region of Coquimbo (where La Serena is), is also called region of transversal valleys, because there are many mountain cords orientated from the mountain range to the sea. Back there you can see one of the mountains! This means we are already near La Serena!

We went around exploring La Serena and not far from where we are staying there was the main and oldest square of the city.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7613.jpg?t=1311798805

Around the square there was this beautiful and very old church, Santo Domingo, I loved its dome!   :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7564.jpg?t=1311798805

To the other side, there was this other cathedral called La Serena, it was beautiful too

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7622.jpg?t=1311798806

Later we headed to a traditional restaurant and I found this chili plant! How cute  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7384.jpg?t=1311798807

And there were also some other lovely flowers

Next to La Serena there is another city, Coquimbo. Yesterday we went to a fortress there. I heard it was built in 1865 to defend Coquimbo in the war with Spain back then  but I also heard a leyend about a pirate and a buried treasure :stare:, so Fiona and I were more interested in walking around it, who knows if we find something!  :D

Ahh... what a nice view from here  :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7623.jpg?t=1311883636

Can you see the pelicans!? They were not really social guys so they didn't want to come closer...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7624-1.jpg?t=1311883638

See? We were serious about looking for the treasure, even though climbing those huge stairs was hell...

We are here at the Bus Terminal waiting for our bus, to go to Pisco Elqui, the most famous town of the Elqui Valley, the most famous valley, and the place with the clearest sky in the world!!  :cyclops:

There were these cool mosaics on the walls showing famous things from the La Serena and Elqui Valley :) Maybe I'll see some of that soon!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7790.jpg?t=1312332643
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7792.jpg?t=1312332643
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7794.jpg?t=1312332644
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7797.jpg?t=1312332644

We heard our bus was here! So we hurried... we didn't want to be late!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7800.jpg?t=1312332644

Of course we had to do the queue like everyone else...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7798.jpg?t=1312332644

Look at this vineyard and the huge moutains back there!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7893.jpg?t=1312332645
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7975.jpg?t=1312332645
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7985.jpg?t=1312332646

And we arrived in Pisco Elqui! This is the church of the town.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_8003.jpg?t=1312332647

...and there was a very nice fountain in the main square, right in front of the church.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_7997.jpg?t=1312332647

It was lunch time, we were so hungry... So we went to the first restaurant we found!  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_8052.jpg?t=1312332648

In the afternoon the sky still had its intense blue colour... Mom!! I'm seeing the clearest sky in the world!!!  :cyclops: :cyclops:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_8072.jpg?t=1312332650
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_8098.jpg?t=1312332651

We are going to spend the night here in the Pisco Elqui :) Tomorrow we'll visit another town of the valley.

The night was cold but beautiful, I'd never seen so many stars in my life!

In the morning we woke up and headed to Montegrande, another town in the valley.
This is the main church... and look at the bright blue sky! Ohh so nice

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8199.jpg?t=1312416245
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8202.jpg?t=1312416245

Leslie told us this is Gabriela Mistral, the first Latin American to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.  :stare: She was raised here in Montegrande, even though she was born in another town of the valley.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8205.jpg?t=1312416245

Later we went to Vicuña, which is where Gabriela Mistral was born.
Leslie said there's a museum dedicated to her, I hope we can go there!
Look at this tower! It's called Bauer Tower and it was before used as the municipality of Vicuña, but now I think it's just a turistic attraction.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_8289.jpg?t=1312416324

I found a map of the valley!  :)
Maybe it's to small to see it clearly in the picture, but there you can see three of the observatories around here. I told you this is the clearest sky in the world  :cyclops:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8301.jpg?t=1312416246
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_8305.jpg?t=1312416337

We entered the museum but we weren't allowed to take pictures inside  :(

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8398.jpg?t=1312416249

It was lunch time, we were told about a very old colonial house working as a restaurant, so we went there and had a big plate of "chilean locos"  :p which was enough to have us both full.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8430.jpg?t=1312416249

We found this is the orange paradise! There are thousands of oranges growing everywhere, just like grapes and avocado!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8432.jpg?t=1312416249

In the afternoon we walked around the town. Look at this! It's Gabriela's face coming out of the ground  :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8437.jpg?t=1312416252

Of course we had to stop and take some time to play hide and seek around this cool tree...  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8440.jpg?t=1312416252

Ohh, these things were so interesting! They're andean saxophones! I even got to hear them played!  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_8449.jpg?t=1312416348

...And this is another instrument, which name I can't remember...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/IMG_8454.jpg?t=1312416254

And that was our trip to the valley  :D In the afternoon we went back to La Serena.

We are now in Coquimbo again, the city next to La Serena.
We heard there was a muslim mosque somewhere up in a hill, and went looking for it

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCF4403.jpg?t=1312603865

We found it, but sadly it was closed due to some reparations so we couldn't go in  :( Still beautiful from outside though  :)

Then we headed to the top of another hill where this famous "Third Millenium Cross" is. Leslie told us it's 83 metres tall and the tallest monument in South America!  :D

Up there you can see some squares... well... they are windows! Leslie said we are going up there! So cool, but so vertiginous!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCF4465.jpg?t=1312603868

This is the view to the city and the gulf.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCF4468.jpg?t=1312603870

It was already late, and like always, we were hungry  :p
We had some chinese food today. A yummy mongolian beef with rice and wantan.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/DSCF4494.jpg?t=1312603881

And of course some lovely soft drinks...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Fiona/DSCF4495.jpg?t=1312603879

And later we were so tired and full so we went back to our hotel to rest  B)

Today's our last day in La Serena, tomorrow we are going back to stormy and cold Temuco...

We made plans to go to the beach, and when were almost there I saw that lighthouse... I think I've seen it somewhere before but I can't remember where... Do you know where?
Ohh yeah, it was one of the mosaics in the bus terminal!! Cool~~

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_8491.jpg?t=1312838716

There were many white shells on the sand...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_8497.jpg?t=1312838717

But we liked these pointy ones

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_8494.jpg?t=1312838716

Then we relaxed after the tiring walk to the beach... It was a lovely nap!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_8518.jpg?t=1312838718

Then, when we woke up, we saw a nice restaurant nearby  :p And they had a surf school right there too!

It was time to come back to the south and even though we liked the north a lot, we haven't explored Temuco yet! So we packed our stuff and off we went!

:o I thought we were in a bus, not in the Delorean!!  :o Are we time traveling!!??  :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_7339-1.jpg

Remember Wilson? We became good friends even though he didn't want to be in our pictures because he said he isn'an official Toyvoyager...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_8593-1.jpg

See how the weather started to change as we headed south  :(
The sky turned all gray, and the photos wouldn't look so nice, so Fiona and I took a nap.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_8606-1.jpg

It was like that for the rest of the day until we got to Santiago at night. Then we caught another bus to Temuco. It was about 15 hours of traveling!

Hi mum!

Today Leslie said she had a suprise for us!  :cyclops:
She took us to a something that looked like a warehouse from outside... is this really the surprise? I thought ...

But then someone opened it, and we realized it was a hangar!!  :cyclops:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3619.jpg

And then I looked to my side and we were right next to the airport runway!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3610.jpg

A pilot-looking guy took out the red plane and started getting it ready. I asked Leslie where are we going and she said to Puerto Montt, a city in the south!   What better way to explore than from the air!?  ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3639.jpg

While the pilot was preparing some stuff, we played around the plane  :p
Look at me! I'm flying mum!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3633.jpg

And now I'm a pilot  B) How cool is that!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3651.jpg

...And Fiona is my copilot!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3646.jpg

Then we were told to sit and put our seat belts on because we were about to take off!  :cyclops:

There you can see Llaima volcano! The one I saw from Cherquenco the other day!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3661.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3705.jpg

Ohh everything looks so beautiful from up here!  :cyclops:
Can you see the lake between those mountains?

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3768.jpg

Back there is the eruption of Puyehue volcano! It's erupting since June 4, and the ash cloud went around the world more than twice!!  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3774.jpg
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3793.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3823.jpg

That's Llanquihue lake down there, it's huge!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3837.jpg

And that's Osorno volcano!... Chile has so many volcanoes!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3849.jpg

That is Puerto Varas. Leslie said it's a small but very beautiful city!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3870.jpg

And this is finally out destination city: Puerto Montt  :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3874.jpg

Tomorrow we'll explore around by foot... or air, who knows ;)

Hugs!

Hello mum!

Today we went to Angelmó, a famous port with many seafood restaurants and markets.

I liked these nice stained glass windows!  :)

Then we entered the market, to look for a restaurant  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3973.jpg

Look at all that weird seafood!  :stare:

Huge monsters!  :o Help!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3977.jpg

We finally found the restaurant we were looking for  :p We ordered "empanadas" (chilean typical food) :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3990.jpg

While we were waiting I noticed the interesting carving on the tables...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN3980.jpg

It was time to fly back to Temuco. The sky was a little cloudy near Puerto Montt, but as we came closer to Temuco it was cloudier and everything looked gray...

Remember Llanquihue lake? back there is Osorno volcano, but it was covered by clouds...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4029.jpg

I think that cloud over there looks like an elephant!

And this one like an axe  :p

Hi Mum!

We have been in Temuco for almost a week already, but the weather has been horrible and we couldn't go out until today, finally!

We visited a museum about different native chilean races. I learned about mapuches and onas, and some other ones whose names I can't remember

This is it, a big old house. The museum section was in the basement.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9351.jpg

On the ground floor there was a little shop, I was welcomed by these nice ladies  ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9363.jpg

I saw this mapuche musical instrument, kultrún, like the ones they were playng on the mapuche new year celebration, remember mum??

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9356.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9359.jpg

Then we went down to the basement, where the real interesting things were!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9371.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9367.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9385.jpg

Wow! Look at all that jewelry!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9390.jpg

I don't know about you mom, but I don't particularly fancy these shoes...!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9395.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9399.jpg

I liked this paiting of mapuche people gathered around a totem! There you can see someone playing a kultrún as well!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9410.jpg

And that's it. I really enjoyed today!

Ahoj mami!

I just learned that the independence day of Chile is on September 18, so everything is already decorated and you can hear cuecas everywhere!

Today we went to a mall and there was a really nice decoration!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_9493.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_9486-1.jpg

Then we had some cheesecake to give Petunia a proper welcome :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_9496.jpg

I heard that we might be traveling somewhere tomorrow, but Leslie hasn't told us anything official yet...

Bye bye!

Leslie told us we'll travel tonight to spend the national day in Puerto Montt tomorrow! :D
We helped hanging a big flag in the garden and got a little patriotic as you can see  ;)

Hi mum!  Today is the independence day!  :D
We slept on a bus last night and woke up in Puerto Montt today in the morning!

This is the view from the house we are staying at! Very very beautiful, don't you think so!? :cyclops:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4001.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4003-1.jpg

But we didn't spend the day here, we went to a beautiful lake called Todos los Santos, to celebrate eating skewers :p

On our way we saw Calbuco volcano, which looks more like a big mountain to me, but it is a volcano, at least that's what Leslie said...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4004-1.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4005-1.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4006-2.jpg

Leslie said "the bigger we see Osorno volcano, the closer we are to the lake" so according to the size of the volcano we must be quite close!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4007-1.jpg

Here it is!! Todos los Santos lake!  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4008-1.jpg

Look at all the beautiful mountains back there!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4009-1.jpg

Look at me! I'm standing on a volcanic rock!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4010-1.jpg

We moved to a picnic table right there in the lakeside and helped with the skewers!  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4011-1.jpg

Yummy!! I'm not so sure about being a vegetarian anymore...  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4012-1.jpg

Later we went to the Petrohué waterfalls which are the river mouth of Todos los Santos lake.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4015-1.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4016-1.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4380.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4385.jpg

I really enjoyed this independence day even if we didn't get to see any national traditional stuff!

Hola Mamá!

Today we wanted to see the city where we are, so we got ready to go on a little city tour!  ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4401.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4402.jpg

First we went to a high viewpoint where we could see all the gulf and a part of the city... there was an extremely cold wind up there!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4403.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4404.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4405.jpg

Then we went to the main square which is by waterfront! in fact all the city centre is by the waterfront! It's very nice!

There were three flags, the chilean one in the middle and the other two are Puerto Montt flags.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4406.jpg

I liked this monument very much. It shows the arrival of the settlers to the south of Chile.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4407.jpg

Next to the sqare there was this nice church with a huge dome made of copper!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4410.jpg

We sat to rest for a little while on a bench with a nice mosaic in the backrest

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4408.jpg

And I found this nice fish mosaic in another bench!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4409.jpg

Then we kept walking through the waterfront...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4411.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4412.jpg

This huge monument is called "sentados frente al mar" (seated by the sea). This couple is very famous and they even have their own song!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4413.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4414.jpg

Then we headed to the port area, where all the fishing boats and some ferries were.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4416.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4415.jpg

There were some stands selling seafood... This crab caught my attention!  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4418.jpg

Then we went back home...
What a nice day we had!
But we weren't tired enough to let it end already...  B)

Later in the night we went to Puerto Varas, a very touristic and beautiful city, famous for its casino and church ...and guess what... I went to both!  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4419.jpg

Wow, not bad!  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4420.jpg

And then we won quite a big amount!  ;)
We decided to give some to Leslie to thank her for her hospitality, and spend the rest ourselves!  :D

I'm having such a good time here!

Hi mum!

Today we went to a parcel called Bellavista (which means beautiful view) First we drove down a road by Llanquihue lake for about one hour, by the way, this is the lake that I saw from the plane last time, remember?

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4281.jpg

This is it. What a beautiful view!  :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4284.jpg

Look at that! Llamas! Just like Fiona!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4288.jpg

I wanted to get closer to see if I could talk with them.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4289.jpg

This one seemed interested in talking with me, so she came closer  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4290.jpg

We talked for a long time, I told her about my voyages around the world, and then another one came to hear my stories!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4294.jpg

They were both amazed by my adventures!  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4296.jpg

Then I wanted to see the other animals around, but they were behind a fence.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4298.jpg

But there was an emu near me, so I went to talk to him!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4302.jpg

But he wasn't so social... after a little chat he stood up and left...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4317.jpg

Anyway, it was such a good day!  :D

Hi Mum!

Today we went to a little town called Calbuco which is half on an island and half on the continent.

On our way we stopped at this lagoon. Leslie said that many birds from far away come here to breed and this is the season when you can see them!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4197.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4195.jpg

Then me and the others went closer to hear the singing of the birds, which was very loud and relaxing!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4200.jpg

Then we went down to the water to see if we could find any baby bird or egg...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4199.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4202.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4203.jpg

But we didn't find any... all the birds flew away as they saw us!

Then we kept driving to Calbuco and on our way we did some stops to take photos

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4205.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4206.jpg

From up here I could see Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes back there.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4212.jpg

There were some nice sheep and lambs by the road

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4216.jpg

After a while we got to Calbuco finally! This is the main square, there is a very nice view from up here as you can see in the back!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4236.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4241.jpg

And this is the main church of the town.

What a nice day!

Hi mum!

Today was the day to go back to Temuco! In the morning we packed our stuff and after lunch we took our bus for our 6-hours drive through the green roads of the south of Chile . We traveled on the front seats of the upper level of a double decker bus  B)

Hi mum!

Even though the independence day was a few weeks ago, today we wanted to cook traditional food, so Leslie suggested empanadas!  :p

First we cooked the "pino" which is a mixture of beef, onions, garlic, olives, egg, salt and oregano.

Then we prepared the dough, cut it in pieces, filled them with the "pino" and fried them, and that's it! we are done! We took the liberty of cooking some of our size, so they were easier for us to eat  :p

We also had "digüeñes" for salad, which are orange mushrooms that grow on some trees in this time of the year, they taste very good with vinegar and coriander!  :p

See you soon mum!

Hi mum! How are you?

We are having a crazy weather over here, one day it's sunny and warm and the next it's rainy and cold!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4651.jpg

Today we made a little trip to a Town called Cunco and found a museum (which was closed  :() but we were still able to sneak in the garden where there were some Mapuche totems, very cool stuff!  :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4654.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4657.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4661.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4662.jpg

Also in the garden there was this "ruca", a traditional mapuche house, of course they're not used nowadays anymore... I also learned that most of them have cone shape and their doors made of straw... so this is a pretty luxurious one  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4666.jpg

Here we are standing on a volcanic rock  :) There were lots of them since Cunco is near a volcano called Llaima. See? I'm learning a lot of geography!  ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4672.jpg

Then we drove a little south until we got to a lake called Colico.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4678.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4682.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4684.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4688.jpg

Then we started looking for a place to rest and watch the sunset.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4710.jpg

This trunk looked pretty comfortable  :)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4715.jpg

How beautiful!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4719.jpg

After the sun set it started to get very cold and the mosquitoes were buzzing around, so we hurried back to the car and drove back home to Temuco.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN4720.jpg

It was a very nice day!
Miss you!

Hi mum!

Today the sky was blue and there was a nice temperature! Ideal to go out and take pictures... but we did none of that and instead went to the centre to some borring offices!... Although in one of the offices there was a nice mural showing two snakes. Leslie said they're called "Trentren & Caicai" and they are from a Mapuche leyend about the creation of the world!  :stare: very interesting!

See you soon!

Hi mum!

We came to relax to Leslie's summerhouse!  :D It's in a small fishing village called Queule which is surrounded by beautiful hills and beaches!

This is the view from the highway while getting there! There you can see the river mouth of Queule river and the whole peninsula. There is a lighthouse in its end, but it's small so you can't see it in the picture.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0016.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0012.jpg

We passed through a field full of infinite calla lilies :stare: so we made a stop to see them closer and smell them!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0041.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0042.jpg

Then we got to the house!  :D The first thing that caught my attention were the plants in the garden! I'd never seen this one!
It's called nalca (Chilean rhubarb) and it's very big!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0049.jpg

This is its flower. I was told that some people eat their stems with salt! Leslie told me she once tried it but didn't like it at all! And she didn't let me try it either, she said she wouldn´t break her plants' stems.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0057.jpg

The nalca was surrounded by some very nice forget-me-nots.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0078.jpg

These are the flowers of a plant called chilco. They're the hummingbirds' favourite meal!  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0063.jpg

I liked this fern's long buds!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0058.jpg

These wild flowers smell very good! I don't know their name though...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0081.jpg

There was a big quartz rock in the garden as well! It was found in one of the hills near here!  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0102.jpg

Then it was lunch time, we were very hungry after the drive! our salad today was cochayuyo (a seaweed) with some onion and coriander. It tasted a little like digüeñes!  :p

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0104.jpg

Then after lunch we decided to go to the beach! To get there we had to walk for about 40 minutes up and down the hills! The weather wasn't so nice so we didn't take our swimming suits...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0126.jpg

From up the hill we could see Ronca beach. The word ronca means "snore" and the beach is called like that because of the loud sound of its waves! They really do sound loud!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0142.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0136.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0154.jpg

Look at this!  :stare: There was a giant root by the road! very impressive! I liked to walk and balance on the branches, they  reminded me of the inside of an anthill, and we are the ants!  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0159.jpg

Then we got to the beach we were walking to! Agua de las niñas beach, which means "water of the girls" in Spanish, what a funny name! I think its called like that because of the shallow depth of the ocean here, which makes it very safe for kids.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0172.jpg

There was a big rock full of holes everywhere! Do you know what might have caused them? Maybe the aliens!  :stare: ...or just the erosion.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0167.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0170.jpg

We moved through the rocks...

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0181.jpg

and I realized that we were standing on seaweed!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0177.jpg

and some baby mussels!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0037.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0184.jpg

There was a big cave, but it looked a little creepy inside so we didn't want to go in!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0025.jpg

I wrote a little message on the sand  ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0188.jpg

Then I found manta ray eggs! There were lots of them everywhere!  :stare: How cool!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0191.jpg

This is not just any rock... this used to be the stair in the entrance of a summerhouse before the tsunami of 1960!  :o
Queule was totally destroyed and later rebuilded nearby, which is where it is now.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0194.jpg

How do I look as a sailor?  ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0197.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0198.jpg

I met a crab, but we wasn't friendly at all! You should have seen what he did to poor Petunia!!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0201.jpg

Later we walked back home.

What a nice day!

Hi mummy!

So as soon as I woke up I went to the deck to see the lovely view and breathe some fresh air from the sea!
It's a good thing that today the weather was so much better than yesterday! :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0215.jpg

Then me and the others went down to the waterfront to see the fishing boats and the birds from closer.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0264.jpg

There were some fishermen on a boat cutting fish and feeding the birds, so there were pelicans and seagulls flying over our heads with fish guts in their peaks! :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0240.jpg

Back there is the main dock of the town.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0266.jpg

We walked to a view point called El Tope. What a view!! :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0277.jpg

Behind me is Los pinos island. The beach is called La herradura (the horseshoe) because of its shape and it's 9 kilometers long!  :stare:

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0289.jpg

That's Queule! see? It's a very small town. Nice and quiet

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0290.jpg

There was a tsunami sign, in fact there were many!

In 2010 there was an earthquake and a tsunami in Chile, but nothing really bad happened here in Queule, just a few docks and boats were destroyed, thankfully the wave wasn't so big here!
Here there's a video filmed from the summerhouse that day.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0320.jpg

This little dock, for example, was destroyed and rebuilt later.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0321.jpg

Can you guess the name of this rock? A clue, it's the king of the jungle ;) ...king of the jungle with some trees on his back!

Bye mum!
I want to see you, I might go back home soon!  :)

Hey mum! how are you?

Yesterday was our last day in Queule!
After lunch we had to pack, and when we were done, we were had some free time to do whatever we like, so we decided to go to a beach we hadn't been to before!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0425.jpg

It's called Cheuque. The waves here are big and noisy as you can see! well... you can only see they're big, but trust me, they're loud!

There are giant rocks in the sea where no humans can reach, perfect home for seagulls and other birds to nest

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0428.jpg

Between all these rocks there was plenty of sea life  from starfish and sea snails to some trapped fish from the last high tide!  :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0433.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0447.jpg

We spent some time playing with the shells, they made perfect sun hats! How do I look? ;)

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0450.jpg

Do you know what it is?? It's cochayuyo! The seaweed I ate the other day!
Though... don't ask me what this one smelled like! Believe me, you don't want to know!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0452.jpg

Time to leave now... we started walking back.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/DSCN0458.jpg

Now we are in Temuco again... Not so much fun.

See you soon!

Hey mum!

This time we had more free time in the centre than last time, so we went to the main square of the city.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9414.jpg

This is the most important monument in Temuco. It shows Mapuches with drums and spears and spanish conquerors with rifles and other guns :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9415.jpg

Look what this guy did to me, mum! :o
I believe I know now why mapuches are said not to be so nice! :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9416.jpg

Right next to the square is one of the tallest buildings of the city and the main church.

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_9421.jpg

Outside the church there were a lot of priests! I wonder what they were up to! Maybe they heard there are toyvoyagers in town and wanted to see us! ;)

See you soon!

Hey mum!

We went to spend the long weekend in Queule again! :D
Do you remember Ronca beach? We walked through the hills for about 30 minutes until we got up here, it was very windy, but the view was very very beautiful!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_0440.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_0444.jpg

The beach is very long and we walked next to the sea foam and the weaves  How relaxing!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_0453.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_0465.jpg

See the hill behind me? That's where we got here from!

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_0475.jpg

Look at this poor tree! :stare: I told you it's windy here, didn't I?
Even look at me! The wind was blowing my frill!  :o

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_0486.jpg

There was a fire here some years ago... but as you can see nature is recovering nicely

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_0502.jpg

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/Timothy/IMG_0513.jpg

Then we saw the foggy sunset and walked back home

See you soon!! very soon!  :D
Bye!

Look mum! :stare: I went to the store with Leslie today and found these match boxes with some very cool pictures! Of course they brought me some memories of my time here!

Copihues! I remember seeing one on a forest long ago!!  :D

http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b445/Resurie/IMG_9991.jpg
