annix Posted May 20, 2011, 2:27 pm	Hi mummy, I've just visited Sforzesco Castle, together with my friend HelgaHH. It was built in Medieval Time and it's placed in the center of the town close to my host's office. It's a sunny and warm day here so we enjoyed the walk. Love, Charlie Mouse

I was welcomed by my new host Katja and several ToyVoyagers. They are Cheerio, Drashuven, Lupus-Tigger, Gaspode, Ellie Muh and Fimbo_Fimble, who is starting his jouney soon. olgamaus Posted Jun 11, 2011, 1:48 pm	Hi Mummy, Katja took me and Ellie Muh out for a short walk when she finished work. The first photo was taken in the vicinity of my current home. I am living in a part of the city centre which was not destroyed in World War II like so many other parts. Here is a nice playground, I'm afraid you cannot see much of it. We took a walk in the municipal park. This memorial is dedicated to the dead of several wars before WW I. The jasmine smells fantastic. You can also find a small pond in the municipal park, ducks and (mostly marooned) turtles are living here. We walked home quickly because it started to rain! Bye Charlie Mouse
olgamaus Posted Jun 13, 2011, 6:29 pm	Hi Mummy, today we took a walk with Katja's sister and her family in Remscheid-Lennep, one of the many districts of Remscheid. Our first stop was a playground Katja's nephew took me high into the monkey bars. We walked to the Wupper dam, a large raw water dam. Here in Lennep you can find a smaller upstream dam. There was not much water because they did not have much rain during the last three months. But it seems as there was enough water for fishing! Katja told us that the water level usually is where you can see the dark spots on the pillars. We walked through a rural area than, we stopped at a barley field. When we returned to Lennep I was a bit shocked! No more lovely landscape, but Katja assured us that Lennep had a lovely old town. Unfortunately we did not visit the old town today, maybe another time Bye Charlie Mouse

Katja told us that all the rain they should have had here since the end of March is coming down right now So we spend a lot of time at work and at home. Today I met the pets. Katja warned me of them because they like mice - not ot play with but for dinner! I had a discreet look ... What is this?! A cat? A furry monster? Not monsters, but ferrets - even three of them Haha  - this one seems to be afraid of me! The ferrets have a transparent tube to run through - they love it! Let's see if one day I could meet them personally. Love Charlie Mouse
olgamaus Posted Jun 23, 2011, 9:44 pm	Hi Mummy, today we walked along the Korkenziehertrasse (corkscrew route) in the neighbour city Solingen, which is a former railway track. It can be used by pedestrians, inline skaters and cyclists. Before we left, Katja took a book out of the book shelf into her bag. We asked why she would take a book with her. She told us that we would come past a place where you can share books ... We started at the station of Solingen. This route is called "Korkenzieher" because its course, meandering through the city, reminds of a corkscrew. We started at "Standort Bahnhofstraße" and walked towards the botanical garden, which is situated close to the Korkenziehertrasse. You can  find graffiti along the route. Some are good, some are not. I liked this one. Soon we left the city centre. Next to the lane you can also find a cemetary. One of several tunnels ... Here we saw some more graffiti - unfortunately over painted by other sprayers. The botanical garden of Solingen is situated close-by the route. Here is a sun dial. Look at this giant butterfly! Katja told me to have a look at its back. Wow! Isn't it beautiful with its glass mosaic? Do you know that there are existing public bookcases? Here is the only one that Katja has ever seen. You can take any book out of it to take it home, bring it back or keep it. We put our book into the bookcase and had a look at the books. Would Katja find a book to take home? Yes, she found one! It is a book written by the Austrian author Vicki Baum. She wrote this book in 1937 A.D. Here is another metal creature - a millipede. From here we had to walk back the whole distance to the city centre. Bye Charlie Mouse
olgamaus Posted Jun 30, 2011, 4:53 pm	Hi Mummy, today we met Katja's friend Erika to take a walk in the surroundings of Remscheid. When we started our tour, it was quite foggy after heavy rainfalls yesterday. Yummy! Hazelnuts! This are blooming blackberries. Katja told us that this company is an automotive supplier, they are producing special seats for cars, also for Formula 1 racing cars. We went to Erika's apartement in the district Hasten. In this old district the houses were built close together. Erika was already awaiting us, but not only Erika. In front of the house a cat was sitting, eager to get some strokes. Erika has a 12 weeks old kitten. Of course we had to play with it before we left. We had to say good-bye to little Lorenz. Clematis are growing in lots of gardens. This old waterwheel is still working. We went into the forest than. Here is a fish pond with lots of trouts in it. I tasted some raspberries. In the distance the city centre of Remscheid was visiible. We walked through some small hamlets, this one is called "Grund". Have you ever seen those tiny field pansy? When we were on our way home we came along Hasten one more time. We had to climb up the green hill in the background, which is the municipal park. On top of that hill the city centre is situated. First we had a look at the riding stable, where Katja's friend is spending her free time. We went to the meadows to have a look at the horses. Three curious goats are also living here Later we went to the city centre to visit a beer-feast. More than 25 different beer stalls from several parts of Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium and the Netherlands were here. We tasted a "Porter beer" from Lusatia and one from Czech Republic. Bye Charlie Mouse

We bought three different delicioius jams here, one with orange and ginger, one with figs, rum and raisins and another one made of marrons. We also bought several sorts of cheese, I will show them to you later. Lots of food were cooked in the tents. Here we had another beer Of course we also tried some food We tried our cheese for dinner. Bye Charlie Mouse
olgamaus Posted Jul 13, 2011, 2:52 pm	Hi Mummy, today we visited Duesseldorf. Duesseldorf is the capital city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city is situated on the River Rhine, and is renowned for its many events and also for its fashion and trade fairs. We went here by train and walked towards the old town. We saw this fountain along the way. We came past the Koenigsallee, the most famous shopping street here,(and the most expensive one ), famous for the fashion showrooms and luxury retail stores located along its sides with the landscaped canal that runs along its center, From here we were close to the old town. Katja showed us the old city hall. We had lunch in a famous seafood restaurant. We enjoyed "Altbier", a special beer which is brewn in this region. The old town of Duesseldorf is called "the longest bar in the world" because you can find reams of pubs here. Katja wanted to show us river Rhine. We reached the Burgplatz. Here you can see Burgplatz (castle place) with the Schlossturm (castle tower). What a great sight with the Rhine promenade, Rhine Tower and the old harbour in the background. Rhine Tower is a telecommunication tower with a rotating restaurant behind the windows. We decided to walk towards Rhine Tower and the harbour. Here on the promonade you can also find lots of bars and restaurants. I took a look behind ... Even this ship is a bar! A fun fair is on the other bank of the river. Katja showed us the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia, the parliament,. situated at river Rhine next to Rhine Tower. We reached the harbour with its marina than. This part of the harbour is called Medienhafen (media harbour). For decades the harbour has been an area of workers, industry and trade. After the Mannesmann company had discontinued its tube production in Duesseldorf, parts of the central harbour were no longer needed. As a result the eastern part of the harbour started to be redeveloped. Nowadays you can find media companies, but also fashion and design offices here, lots of gastronomy also. You can also find some spectacular post-modern architecture, most famously three twisted constructions by Frank Gehry, here. We walked back to the old town than. When we walked back to the station, we came by the city hall once more, this time without any cars in front of it I was so tired after this exciting trip that I fell into bed immediately when we came home. olgamaus Posted Jul 14, 2011, 3:26 pm	Hi Mummy, it was unbelievably hot today, although we went to the city centre in our lunch break. Here you can see one of the entrances of the shopping mall ... ... and the public library. This is the central bus station. The adult ecucation centre is situated in this modern building ... ... and the music school is here in this villa. A fountain! I needed refreshment! Here you can see one of the churches in the city centre. The shopping street is beginning here. There are tents on the shopping street! Katja told us that there will be the "Ess-Kultour" taking place at the weekend. About 10 restaurants will cook in the tents several small dishes. You can sit down and enjoy lunch or dinner here. This is the main entrance of the shopping mall. Can you see the temperature? This is the city hall, partly hidden behind a scaffolding. Its tower is 48 m high! There is a large open space in front of the city hall. On the pillar you can see a lion, the heraldic animal of Remscheid. Now we have to hurry back to work Bye Charlie Mouse

It was a quick trip from Germany, only 6 days, but it was stuffy in that envelope. It was nice to get out and get some fresh air. In the picture is my new host, Abigail, she has help with me from her parents, but she is a fun little girl for a fun little mouse :-D

My host says we will try to do some really fun things soon, but their great aunt needs them. I am hoping everything goes smooth for them, but I am content because I get to play with their little girl, Abbi. She is a lot of fun and takes really good care of me. We will try to get pictures up soon mom, I promise :-D

They went down to see family and I got to ride along with them. We visited a little town called Harrogate, TN and then went to a big mountain called Clinch Mountain. The views were absolutely beautiful. Here are the pictures!

Tera Posted Nov 26, 2011, 4:40 pm	I have arrived in Michigan USA! Gibson got me from the mailbox and ran in as fast as he could! He was so excited! They got the envelope set on the couch with the other toys. At first all I could here was chatter. Malu, Mr.Shaun, and Clifford were waiting to meet me! I looked out curiously at first to see what was waiting for me. Aren't we a cute group? Gibson has made a nice little TV hotel for us to be in when we aren't out and about. I was ready for some sleep in a cozy bed.
Tera Posted Nov 28, 2011, 2:50 pm	Today we went to Downtown Kalamazoo about 15 minutes from where I am staying. It is a much larger town. We decided to check out the museum there. We got there a bit early so we had to wait around a bit outside first. This is the Radisson Plaza Hotel, Gibson's favorite building in Kalamazoo! A group shot while we had a rest before the fun started! Here we all are pretending to be news anchors! I might be a little small for this job! A look out the window on the second floor. The roof of this building is really nice! Look at the pretty fall colors!! Now all the trees have lost their leaves. Here is a model of what they thought Kalamazoo would grow to look like in the 1950's. Not sure how right they were...Tera isn't very good with maps and couldn't figure out anything on this! In the old time store part we decided to stop and have a game of checkers! Mr.Shaun and I made a good team! I'm hiding in some of the cloth! What a fun place! Clifford and I enjoyed looking at the ancient Egyptian artifacts. There was even a mummy!
