Hi,
here I'm with my first log.
So, I'm Kasimir and I'm so happy to have the chance to travel.
My mummy made the next picture,
it's me with my best friend Anton.
And mum said, if I tell her a lot about my trip and show her I'm okay, she will send Anton on a trip, too.

At the moment I don't know where my first stop is, but
I can't wait to start here from Germany.

Hello, Mom!
We came to Kurashiki-city, Okayama pref.
This area is kept the old city view of Tokugawa Shogunate period. (17th-19th century)
There are many historical houses beside the canal. These were once used as warehouse of cotton.
"Kura" of the city's name means warehouse in Japanese.

Mom, what do you think about "JinRikisha(Rickshaw)"? Nice photos we took!

Hinomisaki is a cape in Izumo, Shimane prefecture, Japan.
Check View Map where I am :) We are far away from Takamatsu now.
Hinomisaki faces the Sea of Japan where blue sky and clear sea water are beautiful. The Hinomisaki Lighthouse is about 40m high, and is the highest of stone-build lighthouse in Asia. The guidebook says that the Lighthouse was selected as one of the World's One Hundred Most Historic Lighthouses :D
Near the lighthouse, there is Hinomisaki Shrine.

Hi mom!
Before I leave here, I'll try special food in Takamatsu, Kagawa prefecture. It's called "Udon", a kind of noodles.
And "Udon-ken" is a nickname of Kagawa. (ken means prefecture)
It's funny  :D
I'll have Udon with vegetable tenpura and Omusubi (rice ball).
;) ;) ;)
See you soon,

Host mom and her youngest daughter took me for a walk to see what was blooming at Hillbrant House. Mr. Hillbrant was home and he let us go in the back yard to see his koi and waterfalls back there! Sadly, he is selling his house because he is in his 80s and figures he doesn't need a house and yard that big. We sure hope the next owners will appreciate and maintain his gardens!

This morning, host mom took us to see the community corrections garden that is maintained by the county jail. The motto is "Building Character Through Gardening." We met a super nice lady there, who told us about how she works with the inmates in the garden. Being a small town with a large jail, our county houses a lot of female inmates from the bigger cities, when they have overflow. She often works with people who have never, ever gardened and have no idea about plants or where vegetables come from. One day, she was working with a group of ladies and handed them each a radish, plucked from the ground, and they stood around, and finally one said, "What am I supposed to do with this?" She said, "You eat it." The lady thought a while, then said, "I can't eat it, it's dirty." The nice lady explained all vegetables grow in dirt and you just have to wash them off. The lady argued a bit, so she showed her how to wash it with the hose and try it. The lady tried it, gobbled it down, and then her whole face lit up, and she exclaimed, "I like dirty food!"

We are helping Anastaysia on her goal of visiting 10 cemeteries, so the host family took us to visit Iola's new cemetery. There are stones that date back into the 20s, so it's not THAT new. They looked for their friend, Patty, who succumbed to breast cancer last year, but could not find her stone. Her daughter had said it had roses on it, but there were so many that had roses, that didn't help narrow the search!

Host mom had to take a trip to the airport very early this morning. She watched the moon the whole two hour drive, since it was supposed to be a "supermoon" today. When she got done with checking in her cargo, the moon was nearly to the horizon and kept threatening to go behind the clouds, so the pictures aren't great- but the moon sure was pretty!

One of the TVs in our group has the goal of visiting state line signs, so host mom took us a few extra miles east to get a picture of the Missouri sign. There wasn't a Kansas sign when we crossed back in, so we didn't get that :(

On our way back toward the highway, we found a little old cemetery. Anastaysia got really excited, so host mom was super nice and stopped so she could see. It is the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Overland Park, KS. We found information about it here: click here! Who knew cemeteries had so much history?!

The host family were looking for a service project and found a garden that needed weeding. The garden belonged to a lovely lady named Lula, who lives way out in the country. It was hard work and sometimes the kids wanted to quit, but when they looked up and saw Lula's happy smile, it made them work twice as hard :) We made quite a dent, but there's still plenty more to be done... we plan to go back in 2 weeks and do some more :)

Oh what a wonderful day I had!!! We made cupcakes! Host mom is Gluten Free - can't have wheat or the complex of proteins that forms when wheat flour is mixed with a liquid and physically manipulated, such as in the kneading of bread.

We all got a job to do. Since I was the biggest, I was in charge of the eggs! Figured I was able to handle the eggs without breaking them since I'm bigger than them! haha.

All of these downtown Minneapolis buildings are big and beautiful! Some of these buildings have a cool history!

http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz301/Chloelynn09/P6170315.jpg

This is the Minneapolis City Hall. It occupies an entire city block and has about 680,000 gross square feet. The building is an architectural treasure listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was designed by Long and Keys Architects. The building also features a 15-bell chime and is the only American made set that can play the "Star Spangled Banner" in the original key. Every hour, quarter, and half-hour you will hear the bells of the tower. The bells were manufactured in New York and weigh from 300 to 7,300 pounds each -- over 14 tons total.

http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz301/Chloelynn09/P6170292.jpg

This is the Public Safety building. It's a jail!! Here's some information Chloe09 told us about it! The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office operates the largest pre-trial adult detention facility (commonly called the jail) in the State of Minnesota. Jail facilities are located in two different buildings in downtown Minneapolis, but are treated as one facility:
The Public Safety Facility (PSF) has 330 beds for arrestees.
The City Hall (ADC) has 509 beds for arrestees.
On average each year, there are approximately 40,000 bookings at the jail. The jail is currently staffed for a capacity of 703 beds, and the average population in 2009 was 694. The jail has consistently earned the distinction of being accredited by the American Correctional Association for maintaining the highest standards of inmate custody and care.

http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz301/Chloelynn09/P6170329.jpg

This building is the Hennepin County Court House. Little bit of information about it! It was pretty cool. The Hennepin County Courthouse, located in the Hennepin County Government Center, was completed in 1974. It was designed by John Carl Warnecke and Associates of San Francisco, with Peterson, Clark and Associates of Minneapolis. The masonry is the same carnelian red granite from Ortonville, MN, that was used in building the Minneapolis City Hall, where the courthouse used to be located. The diagonal braces of the modern building are steel sprayed with a fireproofing material to which a cream-colored porcelain-type material was fused. The building's total cost was about $50 million, with $1.6 million more spent after completion on making necessary window changes, fitting an additional floor for courtrooms, and installing glass walls on atrium floors and walkways.
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz301/Chloelynn09/P6170302.jpg

This is the United States District Courthouse. The history of the judicial system in Minnesota begins in 1849 when the first territorial court term was held in Stillwater, Minnesota. The U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota was not established until nine years later when Minnesota became a State in 1858.

Hey!!!
We got to go see Little Squirt in his big movie debut!! Little Squirt is a turtle that is in Finding Nemo 3D. After his son is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out on a journey to bring him home. Pit and I even got 3D glasses to wear! We were so proud of Little Squirt! Some of the pictures are a little blurry but it shows the big debut!

We went to a Minnesota Twins baseball game! Caroline, Zara and I got to take this cool trip to the new Target Field for a Twins game!! We took the Minnesota North Star Commuter to the game. Right before the game, they sang The Star Spangled Banner, the United States National Anthem.

Hey!! Nothing much has been going on here but we did have a movie night. We watched “Hitch” and “Couples Retreat”. They were good movies and fun to hang out with everyone! Erika, Pit, Bambi, NoMi and I had an awesome time together!

Meet Hitch (Will Smith), New York City's greatest matchmaker. Love is his job and he'll get you the girl of your dreams in just three easy dates, guaranteed! And that's exactly what happens when Albert Brennaman (TV's Kevin James, "The King of Queens") wins the heart of gorgeous society heiress Allegra Cole (supermodel Amber Valletta). So when tabloid columnist Sara Melas (Eva Mendes, Stuck On You, Once Upon a Time in Mexico) decides to uncover the secret behind the tubby schlub's success, she's shocked to discover that Alex Hitchens, the charming young man she's been seeing, is the legendary date doctor himself. Exposed in a front-page scoop, it's now up to Alex to try to save Albert and Allegra's relationship as well as his own. Which only goes to show that just when you think you've found true love, there's always a HITCH.
