I was able to draw the number for the field. Playing is hard work. And who do work must also break. Milk and chocolate cake is just right on Sunday afternoon ! Then we played "Train to Train". I was able to shuffle the cards. I hope you had a nice sunday like me! Love and hugs, Sir James |

Hello!
Strange.... My host mother was just in the kitchen. I was not allowed to go with. Well, I look at my Travellog in the meantime. What was she doing that? She says I should not be so curious. I would find out soon enough. I'm so excited! Bye, Sir James |
beelicious Posted Dec 28, 2011, 8:58 am |
Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear Sir James, happy birthday to me !
Today was not only Christmas Eve, but also my birthday! First I got a mandarin cake with a candle and sang me a birthday song for all. That's why I was not allowed yesterday in the kitchen. What a surpise! Then I got a big piece of chocolate cake and my birthday present. Look what I got! A red scarf! Isn't he pretty? I look great ! Then I blew out the birthday candle. Done! For cake, there were banana milkshake. The birthday crown is a little too big for me ... Then we played "Blinde Kuh" (blind cow). Rapunzel I first found. We had a lot of fun! Then we played "Topfschlagen". (pot beat) I found him! Under the pot is a piece of chocolate. Yummie! Then there was champagne. Oops ... I've probably watched too much to drink. .......? Hicks! Bye mum! Sir James |
beelicious Posted Dec 28, 2011, 10:57 am |
Today we were at a birthday party at the "Brot & Spiele" (Bread & Games). This is a very nice game-pub in Schweinfurt. The owner is a very good friend of my host-mother and it was his birthday.
Rapunzel and I sang him "Happy Birthday". There were lots of cakes and cappuccino. Then we played "Nicht Lustig" (Not funny). For me, it got a "Platzverweis" (place reference). This is a very delicious non-alcoholic-cocktail with cherry-juice, lime and crushed ice. Then we played a favorite game of my hosts: "Cartagena". "You gotta fight for your right to party!" It was a very nice evening! Thank you Steffen for the invitation! Bye, Sir James |

Hi mum!
Today we went to dinner at a Japanese restaurant ("Kham" ) in Würzburg. A typical japanese house. Help! I have to eat with chopsticks! As a starter, there were spring rolls and pakora (fried potato, spinach and eggplant with mint yoghurt). For main courses there was "Jasha Momo" and "Tse Momo". Momo are boiled dumplings filled with Chicken (Jasha) and spinach (Tse). In addition there was a salad and a very very very hot sauce . Yummi!!!!! Love and hugs, Sir James |

Hello!
Today the postman gave us a packet. On it was written: "Boofle insinde". What is a "Boofle"?? Sir James and I was very curious. Full of anticipation we opened the packet. What was inside? Candies, a little book, Christmas Ornaments, green tea and.... ... Boofle! He is a very pretty little dog! He is from Weilburg near Limburg in Hessen/Germany. With so many gifts, he is welcome here ! Then the neighbor's dog came over to say hello. My host-mum don't know her name. She calls her "Oma" (grandma), because she is a very old dog. Bye, Sir James |

Oh what a Sunday morning...
I slept peacefully as I was dragged roughly into bright light ... What time is it? 7.33??? What the hell I'm doing on a dark, rainy Sunday morning? We travel by car and then stopping at this house. It is the "Meister Bär Altstadt Hotel" (Master Bear Oldcity hotel) in Hassfurt. Oh, there is a delicious breakfast buffet! There are tea, juice, eggs, cheese, salmon, croissants, delicious fruit etc..... It was sooo yummie ! Greetings, Sir James |

"TV-Gaststätte" means "TV-Restaurant"...
Wow! A Restaurant only for us??? This is determined by ordinary people, and TV stands for television. These poor ignorant people .... |
beelicious Posted Jan 12, 2012, 11:50 am |
Hello!
Today was an exciting day! First, the postman brought a small package. Rapunzel, Boofle and I were very curious. What is inside? Hello? Is anyone there? Look, it's BineHH! Her home is near Hamburg, and now she comes to us from Dortmund. She really is a sweet little crab! Then our host mother told us that we will go to the theater tonight! We see "Rain Main" (like the movie). That will be fun! |
beelicious Posted Jan 12, 2012, 12:32 pm |
Hello again!
We arrived in Schweinfurt at the theater. Tonight we see on stage, "Rain Main". Even the theater is empty, but it will be fully determined yet! The theater lasted 2 hours and then we had hunger. We went to an Indian restaurant called "Maharadscha". We ate "Sabji Pakora" (fried vegetables with mint yoghurt). For main courses there was "Palak Murgh" (chicken with spinach). The Indian spices were delicious! It was a very nice day! Love and kisses, Sir James |

Hello! Do you know what my hosts have just told me? We leave tomorrow on a trip to Cologne! There we go into the late-night-Show "Harald Schmidt Show" (a German moderator). There is also another surprise, but it will not tell us ... We even stay away overnight. We are all excited like that! Greetings, Sir James |
beelicious Posted Jan 20, 2012, 9:30 am |
Hello!
All there? We are ready! We travel to Cologne! Was our first trip a little bit boring, but we drove past the airport of Frankfurt. He is so huge! We saw some planes land and take off. |
beelicious Posted Jan 20, 2012, 9:31 am |
In Siegburg (a small town near Cologne), we had a hotel room.
The hotel was called "Kasserrolle". There we make our fresh and then drove to Cologne for the "Harald Schmidt Show". |
beelicious Posted Jan 20, 2012, 9:33 am |
Here is the television station SAT 1.
And here you see the entrance to the show. Unfortunately we were not allowed into the studio ... So we've done a photo with the painting by Harald Schmidt. After the show it was a little surprise. We rode in a car-cinema! We saw the German film "Offroad". The movie was quite ok. It was almost midnight when we finally were at the hotel. We slept like one too .... |
beelicious Posted Jan 20, 2012, 6:50 pm |
The next day...
This morning was very cold! We snuggled into the warm blanket. After breakfast we drove to Cologne. BineHH: Where is the cathedral? Me: Well, over there he is! Boofle: I see I have not even .... Rapunzel: I see him, I see him. BineHH: Yes, I too now! Boofle: He's so big! From here I had a nice view of the Cologne Cathedral. These three buildings are very modern flats behind me. They should look like old cranes on the Rhine. Behind me is the great railway bridge over the Rhine. We wanted to take the cable car over the Rhine, but unfortunately it didn't work. Then we made our way home. |
beelicious Posted Jan 20, 2012, 6:51 pm |
We saw airplanes again...

It was built from 1719 - 1744 Here I am on the Main. Behind me is the "Old Crane". This is the fortress 'Marienberg'. It was built around 1200. This is the church "Kaeppele" (Chapel). Today we packed our bags! But my hosts did't tell me where we go .... I see nothing! Too much fog ... Here is a little snow. Where could we be? And here is yet more snow! We are in the beautiful Upper-Bavaria! This is our home for the next few days - the hotel "Alter Hof" in Vaterstetten near Munich. We have a bed for us alone! In the afternoon we visited relatives of my host mother in Munich: Aunt Gerda is a 86 year old lady and Uncle Bruno and his wife Gerlinde. Tomorrow we take a trip to the mountains! Bye, Sir James |

Winter-Wonderland-Tour
Without words - so beautiful! Look for me! Then we drove to "Starnberger See". This house is in Irschenhausen. It is known, because it is in the German crime series "Der Bulle von Toelz" (The cop from Toelz). A typical Bavarian house. Here I'm at the "Tegernsee". Do you see the colorful balloons? And this is the "Schliersee". Behind me is the peak of the mountain "Wendelstein". He is 1838 meters high. Behind me you see the mountain "Wilder Kaiser" and the "Kaiser Mountains" in Austria. Here we are at the "Chiemsee", also called the "Bavarian Sea". The gull is hopefully nice to us... On the way home we see children go sleigh. We are all very tired after this long day ... But we still enjoy the setting sun. Greetings, Sir James |
beelicious Posted Jan 29, 2012, 3:24 pm |
Today we are unfortunately already gone back home ...
We stopped briefly in Munich. It was very cold and there was freezing rain ... This is the "Chinese Tower" in the English Garden. The television tower. And the Olympic Stadium in 1972. The Soccer Station "Allianz Arena". |
beelicious Posted Jan 29, 2012, 3:38 pm |
Puuh! After 3 hours of driving we were back at home ... We just back as the postwoman came. And what she brought us? An envelope. Whether this is probably a new TV? You see a littlebit of blue ... Look! It is Blou Beer from South Africa! We all welcome him warmly! He has traveled very far. Nearly 16,000 km! He shows us on the PC where he comes from. Do I ever travel so far away from home? Bye, Sir James |

Hello!
I have finally arrived to Spain, I'm so happy. I was received by a very eager toyvoyager called Capote, at first I was a bit shy but after greeting him I saw there was no doubt we will be great friends. After I delivered a note my mommy sent to my hosts, I was told I arrived just in time and that we would be going on a roadtrip! Good thing I love to travel. The road in Spain was very nice, and I got to see many beautiful sights. I really liked some bulls we saw along the way, they're an important animal in Spain: Along the way I had the chance to talk to my hosts and Capote, he's a really good and happy dog. He told me a lot about the time he spent in Kansas, and we also spoke about our homes in Germany. Along the road we saw many fields with olive trees or other plantations, solar power stations and wind power stations. All very pretty After finally arriving we went to visit some friends of our hosts and there I got to pet a guinea pig! He was very kind but also very afraid... even though he was a lot bigger and heavier than me!. Oh well, I hope to finally get some rest after so much travel. But I'm really happy I'll get to see more than one Spanish city. |
JunCTionS Posted Apr 28, 2012, 10:07 am |
Today we got to visit downtown Madrid!,
Here's me with the fountain of Neptune, we also passed by a very similar one called the Cibeles fountain which is where the Real Madrid football fans celebrate their wins. In a big souvenir store they had a very funny looking full size statue of Don Quixote: We walked beside the Prado Museum. Here's Capote and me with a statue of the famous Spanish painter Velazquez: And this is the entrance of museo del Prado: After passing by there we went to the centric park called "El Retiro", it was very nice and with lots of gardens. And with a big pond with people on rowboats: Here's me with some pretty flowers: And just outside was the Puerta de Alcalá: we then went to the main street in Madrid, the Gran Vía: And from there walked to Sol, which is the a square where Spanish people greet the New Year. And before ending our day's trip we passed by the Congress of Deputies, here we are with one of the big lion statues at the entrance: I really like Madrid, there's many things to see, although we had to do a lot of walking and didn't have enough time to visit it all. |
JunCTionS Posted May 13, 2012, 1:52 pm |
Today we went back to Madrid,
Here in the back you can see the four really big skyscrappers of Madrid known as the "Torres de la Castellana": We went to the "Palacio de Oriente" which is the official residence of the kings of Spain. We knocked on the door but apparently they weren't home. Next time we'll call before : We went into the Almudena Cathedral and after walking many steps to the top of the bell tower here's the view towards the downtown of Madrid. It was really rainy so it was good to be indoors. We went to eat to a famous restaurant called the Caves of Luis Candela. A long time ago it was the hidding place of the famous thief. And it was right below the main square of Madrid called Plaza Mayor: Madrid was a really nice place. Hopefully some day I'll get to visit it again. |
JunCTionS Posted May 13, 2012, 5:47 pm |
On the way to Granada we stopped at a placed called Despeñaperros, which has really nice mountains, here's me and Capote enjoying the view:
Today it was the "Día de las cruces" when the city gets full of red flower crosses, people get dressed in typical spanish dresses and there's a lot of music and dancing; it was really nice. We had some nice dessert: strawberries and cream, and some churros! This is the Bib-Rambla square which is very centric and in the background you can see the big cathedral tower: Here's me with a funny looking motorcycle: Do you think I'll be able to drive it? Finally this is me at Plaza Nueva with the main regional courthouse for Andalucía which used to be a prison itself: And the fountain that is at that square: |
JunCTionS Posted May 13, 2012, 8:24 pm |
And we're on the road again! I know I have yet to see Granada properly, but there will be time for that later, as I had the oportunity to visit Munich again!
This time a new ToyVoyager joined us, his name is Kibblet , and here we are with Capote on the Madrid Metro: and then in the Barajas Airport of Madrid it's very nice how the columns make a rainbow along the very long terminal. Here's our airplane, as you can see we were very excited to go on it. We took a train from the Munich airport to the city: Shortly after arriving we went on a walk, luckily we arrived right on time for the Spring Festival, so our host had a typical sized Bavarian drink: And then we went on a large Ferris Wheel to see the city landscape: We visited the beautiful Nymphemburg castle: It had a big front lawn surrounded by identical yellow houses. From a bus I saw many buildings, some of the ones I saw the previous time I was in Munich, including the television tower and the 1971 Olympic Arena. But this time I took pictures of the O2 tower and the BMW factory buildings: Here we are all in front of the Siegestor arch: We also went for a walk in the English Garden, there I saw the Chinese tower again and then went to the nearby Hofgarten, here's the Bavarian State Chancellery: We had to schedule some time to see the pretty figures of the "new" town hall's clock, the Rathaus-Glockenspiel, moving, it was quite enchanting to see: It was very nice getting to go back to Munich, we all had a very nice time, but as you can see we were quite tired by the time we got to the Munich Airport. In Madrid we took a short distance train from the airport. I wonder how many modes of transportation I haven't been on already . |
JunCTionS Posted Jun 3, 2012, 1:25 pm |
Today we went out for a bike ride. One of our hosts had to run some errands so we went along to see a bit of the city. It wasn't much but we still had a lot of fun.
We passed by a big park named after a famous spanish poet, the Federico Garcia Lorca. It was very pretty, and had many flowers: (scroll to the right to see the full picture) But our host was in such a hurry that he took the panoramic image too fast... so don't worry, although I look like I lost my ear it's still there. We also passed by the Museum of Science. Here I am with Capote and Kibblet rolling a big marble ball that weighs one ton! :O We felt very strong, but it's easier because the ball is floating on water. And here's the biggest river that crosses Granada, it's called the Genil: As you can see the day was very sunny, and it was getting so hot I had to loosen up my scarf... I like my scarf very much and I don't want to stop wearing it, but this is not the right weather for using it... oh well, I guess that if you want to get to know the world you must put up with some inconvenient weather. Love from Granada, Sir James. |
JunCTionS Posted Jun 9, 2012, 11:45 pm |
Hello Mommy,
We've been having a good time, although the weather is still very hot. This week was Corpus Christi and it's when the main fair of Granada takes place. So we went to the "Recinto Ferial", here I am with my friends Kibblet and Capote in the main entrance: As you can see I had to take off the scarf because of the heat. Right inside there were many shops with many other fun things: We had lunch there with some friends and then danced a long time, it was so much fun!, too bad we didn't take many more pictures. There were a lot of townspeople from the province that came in their horses and carriages all dressed up. We had a lot of fun that lasted until the evening. We passed by the central square of Granada, called the Bib-Rambla. Capote says this dragon tried to eat him before: But the squared looked very different this time with so many lights and so many people. Many flamenco schools were performing there as well. Before finally going home we stopped by a very good ice cream store: I put on my scarf after because it was getting cooler outside, maybe in part because of the ice cream. Here I am in from of the Town Hall. It was also specially decorated because of the fair: I specially liked how there are many flowers here in Granada, in spite of the very hot weather. Many of the buildings looked ancient but well mantained. And there were many decorations thanks to the festivities: Here's the main post office: The city is named after the pomegranate fruit, so you can find drawings of the fruit in the city (and even in the Spanish Coat of Arms), so here you can see it in flowers by a fountain called the fountain of the battles: I had a lot of fun today... it was very nice to see the town on a holiday. Love, Sir James |
JunCTionS Posted Jul 3, 2012, 12:25 pm |
Hello mommy,
Today we started a surprise trip, here I am with Kibblet and Capote in the Málaga Airport: we took a very economic airline, it was funny how bright the colors were inside the plane, they also had lotto on board and when we landed they played a loud fanfare sound: When we got to Budapest we took the train, it was very old and worn out, but at least it seemed clean: Here I am with the Parliament building from the other side of the Danube river, it's very big and pretty: We then walked to the center of the eastern side of the city, they used to be two cities divided by the river, Buda and Pest, when they joined the two by the bridge they just joined the two names, so this part is in Pest. Here we are in front of a mall and the Hard Rock Cafe: They had a cultural act were people from very different places around the World showed their folkloric dances: In that same square there was a nice fountain, here I am with my friends: We continued walking until we got so tired we had to stop for a rest in the grass in front of the main opera house: Then we walked through the famous Chain Bridge to Buda: Then we went to the Castle Hill, here I am in front of Mathias Church And the Fishersman's Bastion, can you find me?: Here we are in a model of both those buildings: Then we went down to a very very very scary place called Labirintus, it was a lot of underground caves and it was very dark, luckily there was a map and we were able to get out: That's it for Budapest, here we are leaving in the train: Love, Sir James |
JunCTionS Posted Jul 4, 2012, 10:08 am |
So we went by train to Balatonalmádi, a really small town by Balaton lake:
It was a really old train and it didn't have air conditioning, so it was so hot I thought I was going to melt!. Here I am in the train station: Then we walked to the lake and it was really pretty, and we saw some ducks and swans: It was a really nice place, quiet and peaceful, here's the view from our window were we watched many trains go by and the boats in the lake to the left: I liked Balatonalmádi, the weather was nice for summer, although it was so full of mosquitos. Love, Sir James |
JunCTionS Posted Jul 4, 2012, 9:32 pm |
After Balatonalmádi, we went back to Budapest and took a plane to Barcelona, here's me in the plane, I love flying:
In Barcelona we visited the famous Gaudi's church, "La Sagrada Familia": It was amazing, with lots of pretty details, it's still in construction since 1882!, I hope to see it finished some day. Then we took a walk by the beach: Here's me with my friends having a great time: Love, Sir James |
JunCTionS Posted Jul 5, 2012, 10:34 pm |
In Barcelona we boarded a cruise in which we will sail several days in the Mediterranean, we're very excited, it's such a big ship!.
Here you can see a view of the port: I had a great time relaxing with my friends! We spent the first day navigating, we went through the middle of the islands of Sardinia: And Corsica: We had a lot of fun on board, it's very nice and there are a lot of fun things to do all the time. We even got to see the control bridge and the Captain navigate between the islands, but no photos were allowed. Ahoy, Sir James |
JunCTionS Posted Jul 5, 2012, 11:16 pm |
Today we docked at Naples and there we took a train to the ancient city of Pompeii:
When we arrived the ruins' workers were on a strike so we decided to go to the Vesuvius volcan first, to get there we took a huge all-terrain buses that looked like military trucks: The ride was really bumpy! and there were a lot of curves so I got a little dizzy, the road was also very narrow so it seemed like we were about to fall of a cliff!. When we finally arrived we still had a long way to the top, luckily we fit in our hosts' bag and he carried us all the way (it was very dusty so I would have ended up completly dirty anyways). On the top we got to see the inside of a giant volcano's crater!: It was really amazing! and the volcan is still active! After going down, we visited the ruins of Pompeii, this city was destroyed by the volcano's eruption more than 19 centuries ago but the ruins were only discovered recently so it's been very well preserved. The place was really big and there was a lot of sun, definetly no place for a nice polar bear like me, but it was still very interesting to see such a well organized and complete city from so long ago. Many of the things and people were conserved exactly how they were when the volcano erupted. Here's us in one of the temples: It was a very fun day, but in the end we had to rush to the train or the ship would leave us, so we could only see Naples as we walked by. This is from when we were waiting for the train: Love, Sir James |

Bon giorno!
Today we went to Rome, the first thing we visited was the Coliseum, of course: Next thing we visited was the Fontana di Trevi, the tour guide was in such a hurry that we didn't take any pictures. I hope you believe me. But I did throw a coin backwards into the fountain so I'll be coming back some day! We walked really fast and saw many historical buildings and learned a lot of the very long history of Rome.We stopped for a little in Piazza Navona: We wanted to take a group picture but Kibblet wouldn't stop chasing that cat: Then we stopped for a quick lunch, I had lasagna, in Italy!, it was very good , they make very good pasta here!. Finally we visited the Vatican, here's me in front of Saint Peter's Basilica, the biggest church in the World. We went inside and it was gorgeous. Well this is it for Rome, we only spent a few hours here so we had to run and see everything quickly, but as the tour guide said, this was just an appetizer so we would come back and see Rome more calmly some other time. Arrivederci, Sir James |

Ciao mamma!
I have been improving my Italian!, today we went to Florence and Pisa!, here you can see me in front of the Cathedral of Florence, it was really nice and really big but it was really simple inside. A very interesting site. Florence is filled with amazing buildings and works of art in the streets. Here I am with a replica of Michelangelo's David. And after Florence we stopped by Pisa and in the miracle's square saw the famous leaning tower... I of course tried to straighten it up . Baci, Sir James |

Hello mommy,
Today we visited a lot of different places, first a town that is called Éze in France which is really small and is on top of a very steep hill. Here I am before going up: Then we went to Monaco, here I am overlooking it, still from France: When we got there we first went to the castle, here's me with Capote and Kibblet . There we saw the change of guard and then took some pictures of the view. Here's the Marina where you can see part of the Formula-1 race track (which is a normal street when they're not racing): and the Justice Palace: and of course the famous Montecarlo casino: We also had the chance to visit the city of Cannes and get our picture taken in the Red Carpet of the film festival: I think some people might have recognized us from our famous travels because many of them took pictures of us. My hosts let me drink a bit of wine, since they knew this was part of my life missions, but we forgot to take a picture . Finally we got into an emergency life boat to go back to our ship it was really fun: Here's a view of Cannes from the ship: I had a lot of fun today... and again got to visit more than one country in one day!. I love getting to know so many places. Love, Sir James |

Hello mom,
Today we said goodbye to Kibblet, as always it was sad, but we're happy to have him travelling and getting to know the World. Before leaving Granada we organized a proper goodbye with the help of his Original Dog friends: He really liked it. After that we left to Valencia by a midnight train-hotel: We had a lot of fun on board: We arrived to a very pretty station that had a very classic look to it: Valencia has a very interesting area that is called the "City of arts and science" where a very famous arquitect was in charge of many buildings, it's really amazing how every one of them looks very futuristic: Here you can see a suspension bridge and the Opera House. We took a quick bus ride to the beach: There we had a lot of fun playing and basking in the Sun... I think I've become used to the summer heat. We also visited the city center, here I am in front of the city hall: But everything must come to an end, and so here I am waiting for another midnight train back to Granada: Love, Sir James |

Hi mommy!,
Sorry I haven't written in such a long time. We've been relaxing at home most of the time, not much to say for a while. Here's me watching the Olympic games: We went up to the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which is a sky resort. But since it's been such a hot summer it wasn't very "Nevada" (which means snowed), here are the sky slopes: So we walked up to the an astronomical observatory!, they have many big telescopes in there and they use them to look at stars very far away. Look at this rock, it was falling up instead of down! We also hiked around the mountains, it was a nice exercise. And the sights were very pretty: Here we are looking back at the astronomical observatory and also a big antena they also use to look at the stars. We found a small lake. I wanted to take a swim and at 3000 meters of altitude, the water was very cold, just how I like it, but my hosts said that I would get dirty walking down all wet. Love, Sir James |

Hello mommy!
Today a new toyvoyager arrived!, and not any ToyVoyager, but the Voyager of the Week, at first he was shy but then we became really good friends! He's been in many places and tells really good stories, his name is Phinook We took a bus to the city center, and Susy came with us. She's a new ToyVoyager waiting to start her journey. I showed my friends around town. Here is Granada's main post office and a street painter being inspired by the street life: This is the town hall And these are some typical moorish shops in narrow streets by the city center. And the city's most centric square, the Bib-Rambla: When we came back home we decided to bake a cake, here we are with all the ingredients, it was very good to have so many helping hands We took turns at working the mixer Sadly, when we were done, we were so excited to eat the cake that we forgot to take a picture before it was gone!. It was a really nice day, two new friends, seeing more of the city center and a cake!. Love, Sir James |

Hi everyone!,
This weekend we went on a trip to the countryside, we spent the weekend on a countryhouse with some friends. The view was beautiful, here you can see the small town of Otívar: Like many Andalucian towns all the houses are painted white and it looks very pretty. We had a barbecue made in this rustic oven: and we got to play in the well. We also threw in coins and made wishes. Cheers, Sir James |

Hi!
Today we spent the day walking through the city center, here's me in a nice Andalucian style building: The medieval door that you see behind me used to be the entrance to Granada during the 12th century. It's called the Puerta de Elvira: Then we took a bus, the building you can see here was an old jail and is now the current hall of justice for Andalucía: We arrived to the famous "Mirador de San Nicolás", a very nice lookout out point to see the Alhambra and the whole city of Granada: The Alhambra was a fortified city built by the moors with several palaces inside. Here's part of the old fortified wall that used to surround Granada. After all that walking I had some really good paella and a refreshing soda. Then we went down to the city center walking through the Albaycín, which was the old Moorish neighborhood. The Albaycín has very small streets and it's very easy to get lost. On our way down we found a very nice cat. Here's another view of the Alhambra: We visited some arab shops and in one store they had a nice fountain with big fishes in it: What a nice walk we had today! Love, Sir James |

Hello Mom,
Today we made a very special cake, it was extremely chocolaty, very colorful and pretty. We wanted to make a nice pattern with M&M candies, so first we practiced on a plate, and after trying several ideas we went with one we found online: Then, when we felt we were ready, we all helped put in the candies on a chocolate cake we had made earlier. Our hosts shared the cake with some friends and everybody was impressed by our work . Buen Provecho! Sir James |

Hi mommy,
Today we went to the zoo! Our hosts had to travel to Madrid and decided to have a fun day at the Madrid Zoo, we saw many animals and it was a lot of fun Here's me with some eagles: We also went into a big aquarium building where there were many beautifu fishes: There were so many monkeys in this pit, it was very noisy and smelly... but there were many cute babies and young monkeys Look at this nice camel, he's almost as white as I am: This is my favorite picture, here I am with all my friends and you can see giraffes, ostriches and a zebra: There were also many bears, sadly no polar bears, but the black bears were very friendly, look at how this one sits and waves for the camera!: Who says polar bears and penguins can't be friends?, here I am with a nice group of them: I also got to see some young panda bears!, they are only two years old and their names are Po and De De: They were very playful and moved a lot, I was very lucky to get a picture of them. Finally, here I am with my friend Phinook and a flamingo. I really liked the zoo, specially the bear that waved to the camera! Love, Sir James |

Rainy season has begun in Granada,
I like it, I can wear my scarf without being too hot. And with rain, some rainbows will happen. Here I am with a faint but pretty one (top left): Another great thing about this season, snow!, the Sierra Nevada has snow again: Doesn't it look just cool? Phinook was heading home today, so we gathered to say goodbye. So he got into his box: Had to take of his hat so he could fit: And suddenly, Susy jumped in! She looked very happy to start her journey by going to Switzerland and Phinook seemed very happy to have company for the trip back home. So we helped them close the box and then went with our hosts to send them off. It's very exciting to meet other traveling toys and see that we each go in our different adventures. I hope we'll meet again, Love, Sir James |

Today Capote was leaving to Indonesia! I'm very excited for him, he was a bit sad to say goodbye but I gave him a big hug to keep him warm during his trip. Bye bye Capote, I'll miss you! |

Today another package arrived, and just in time because I was feeling a little bit lonely since Capote left .
It came from Italy! Inside was little Graham and some cookies! He's a nice little chick who is also from Germany like me . So today we had a nice little walk by the city center. It has been very rainy, which is not normal here, but I guess it's nice for the plants. I think haven't visited the Constitution Avenue before, it's very nice. It has several statues of famous people from Granada. Here we are with the world famous poet Federico Garcia Lorca: In the junction of the Constitution Avenue and the main "Gran Via" street there's a big Spanish flag, there are also many pretty and historical buildings. Well, I'm looking forward to adventures with my new friend . Love, Sir James |

Hello Mom,
Today a new TV arrived, his name is Elliot He brought our hosts some souvenirs and candy: We helped our hosts put up some Christmas decorations, specially the Christmas Tree: We helped assemble the tree, it was a bit tricky since you have to look for a number and color in order to know where every branch goes. When I opened a box looking for the lights I found another polar bear! He even has a red scarf like me! He likes to hibernate during the summer because he likes Christmas the most. We also played with the tree's lights and decoration. And this is the final result: we loved it!!! Cheers, Sir James |

Hello mommy,
Tonight we went out for a walk in the city. On the way we stopped at an outdoor gym and had some fun with the machines: In the south of the city there's a cool roundabout with a helicopter! and as I've told you before, there's a lot of pomegranates all over the city, here's one on a new lightpost: Here I am in another park playing like a little kid: Something that is very iconic in Spain is the store chain called "El Corte Inglés", and they put up a nice light and music show outside of their downtown store for Christmas. Here I am with my current TV friends at the Fuente de las Batallas: Around it there was a nice handicrafts market: Here we are in front of the Cathedral: And on top of a donkey's statue: Look! I grabbed a bull by his horn! It was a very fun to go out at night, Love, Sir James |

Hello mommy,
Here I am, out for another walk in Granada, the weather is getting a bit colder, just how I like it. The trees have not all changed color yet, so there are many colors and it's very pretty. In the Paseo de la Bomba there was an outdoors art installation with many wiggly metal tubes, they looked fun! Remember Granada's Town Hall? This is the Federico Garcia Lorca park And here I am with my buddies Elliot and Graham And in the night, the park's main fountain had a nice light show. It was very pretty We also went by another branch of the big Spanish store chain "El Corte Inglés", and they had some nice holiday decorations: That's it for now, Love, Sir James |

With such warm weather I had to go along with it and enjoy a refreshing coconut. I'm very excited to see how this city is. Love, Sir James. |

Hello mommy,
Today we went to a supermarket to get some food for the holiday celebrations As you can see there were many decorations on sale: In Florida there are many water ways with pretty birds in them: It also has a lot of swamps problem is, there are many animals there, here we are wrestling a big alligator with another small one on it's head! hehe, just kidding, we played around a lot today. And the weather was very warm... look at me, at a pool in December! I won't complain about the heat, it was actually nice to take the scarf off and relax. Afterwards we just sat a long time in a pool chair and relaxed even more. Don't think we forgot about the holidays, look at the pretty decorations Love, Sir James |

Hello mommy,
Today we travelled again! Here we are on a Florida highway, going to downtown Miami! Look at how many skyscrappers you can see far away. we're almost there! Hmm... Where to go? As you can see they're still building even more skyscrappers Look at all the really tall buildings, there were many of them all over, and each one different and very modern-looking. At this intersection we saw a trolley car, which is really just a free tourist bus. Sadly today we could not go on it. While walking around we saw this big human torso at the entrance of a gym, look, I told everyone I was stronger than the statue, and we all laughed. Oh well, today we also left Miami... here I am at the airport... woah, wait, Mexico City? hehe, just kidding... here we are at the Barajas airport in Madrid where they still had some holiday decorations. It was a very long flight but I slept most of the way. And back to the flamenco of Spain, Andalucia, and specially Granada! Love, Sir James |

Check me out, very happy in the snow! It snowed very hard here in Granada, they say this only happens once every 3 or 4 years: Check out the view And since it was a holiday in Granada (the day of Andalucia), we went to the science museum! Here we are with a nice mister called Albert Einstein: And here we are on top of a wind turbine: We look so small! and this is a "small one". There was a nice exposition on the human brain: And many animals all around: As you can see the weather was beautiful, snowy and sunny, just the way I like it: Here is Mr. Charles Darwin and his turtle, he asked me some questions and wrote it in a journal of migratory species, what a funny guy. It was a very fun day out with my friends Love, Sir James |

Today I finally went to:
It was very pretty, the nice spring weather has made everything green and flowery: The place was very big and had many bridges and arches: Inside a church they had a nice structure that they use in the Holy Week processions, to carry the church's Virgin Mary, this one has many ornaments that are like the Alhambra's interior: This is called the Gate of Wine (or Puerta del Vino in Spanish): And here's a view of the Albaicín: There were many gardens all throughout the Alhambra: We also visited the Carlos V palace which is the newest part of the Alhambra: Look at this grand staircase: and the amazingly large open center: The acoustics in the middle are so nice that it is often the site of concerts. In the end we had lunch in a very nice patio: We had nice company as well, It was very nice, it was a great day! Love, Sir James. |

Hi Mom,
This weekend it was the Fiesta de las Cruces (Festival of the Crosses) here in Granada, in which many people compete in setting up patios, plazas and showcases with typical items and crosses made up of roses. It is a beautiful festivity: The local football team here recently joined the first division league (the world famous "La Liga" where the Barca and Real Madrid play) and has managed to barely stay in this category for the last two years, so some fans built this cross with the team's red and white stripes to see if it helps them: Sadly they were already taking some of them down by the time we got to them, there were just so many!: And this last one is from the local university's visitor center: (that's the University's coat of arms made in black and white stones on the ground). Love, Sir James |

Hi mom,
Don't think that I forgot, my hosts just haven't been able to help me write this travelog until today, but I remembered very well: Happy Mothers' day! Here in Spain it is celebrated a week earlier, but I remembered you very much while we visited: Seville! Here I am with the Giralda, which is right now the Cathedral's bell tower but was built as the minaret for the mosque in the XII century: This is the side of the Cathedral: It is huge!, in fact it is the third biggest church in the World. I really liked this view, the cubic tree, the large pedestrian street with trolley car tracks and the weird building on the right: And look this weird structure: It is called Metropol Parasol and is a wooden structure made to look like giant mushrooms, which some say that is the largest wooden structure of the World! The view from above is beautiful! And finally, right beside the river Guadalquivir I saw the Torre del Oro: It was a very sunny and hot day, but I was very happy to get to know Seville! Cheers, Sir James |

Hi mommy!
Today was the Tarasca's parade here in Granada. This is a very important part of the Corpus Christi celebrations, and the Tarasca is a symbol of beauty winning against the ugliness. To symbolize this, a mannequin is dressed by a designer with a dress that is supposed to set the fashion trend for the next season. A professional also puts on her make up every year. So here she is on top of the dragon that symbolizes the ugliness: The whole parade is very festive, several bands play music and people dressed up with big heads (or "cabezones") go around bumping the little kids of the public in the head with an air balloon. Since we were in the city center we went to see another famous Granada Corpus Christi tradition, the Carocas, these are drawings accompanied by a funny verse that is related to some news of the year. This one was of a recent football game when Cristiano Ronaldo scored a self-goal that gave a very rare win of the Granada football team against the Real Madrid: Afterwards we went to the Casa de los tiros, which used to be part of a defensive wall protecting the city. It's called that way due to the rifles that still stick out the upper floor windows. Look, inside was an old version of the Tarasca's dragon from the early 1900s.: Love, Sir James |

Hello mommy,
Today we went back to the Alhambra! As you can see it has many beautiful ponds and gardens: This part is the Patio de la Acequía in the Generalife, which was the summer house of the sultans and kings: And legend says that in this patio, in the XV century, a member of the Abencerrages family was seen having an affair with a member of the Royal Family, with that tree in the background being the only witness to the true identity of the lover. Since only the family was identified all of the main members of the clan were killed in the Sala de Abencerrajes. Here's the same patio as seen from above with me and my Toy Voyager friends: The hand rails of these stairs have water running through them, they're very relaxing. And this is a view of the Patio de la Acequía from above: This is a doorway inside the seven floors tower, which is normally closed to public access but it was open this month. Inside we saw some old dungeons: So many beautiful gardens all around! The place is filled with beautiful Arab architecture: Besides the many pretty palaces and gardens, the Alhambra was a very well built military stronghold: Here you can see the interior of the military section of the Alhambra, known as the Alcazaba: Here I am with my friends enjoying a little rest in the sunlight with a view of the Albaycín The view of the city center from there is beautiful: And of course of the Albaycín: We climbed to the highest building in the Alhambra and Granada, the Torre de la Vela: In case you're wondering those are: the EU, Andalucía, Spain and Granada flags from left to right. This is the Alcazaba from above: The Justice door is a very big and heavily fortified entry into the Alhambra: And finally the Pillar of Carlos V, this is a fountain built in the XVI century and that is somewhat hidden. Isn't the Alhambra just amazing? Love, Sir James |

Hello mom, Today we went to a very nice salt water pool called Parque Maritimo, it was very relaxing: The park is very large and beautiful and was designed by an architect called Cesar Manrique. A lot of people were having fun and enjoying the water and Sun. And from the park you could see a beautiful theater designed by famous Spanish architect Calatrava. Also an small black castle and the beautiful crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. We had a very fun day at the pool. Love, Sir James |

Hello mum,
Here I am back in the Tenerife North airport... and about to get into this airplane you see behind me: Those are the airplanes of the local airline called Binter, and it took us to La Palma! We wanted to go very early in the morning to see the sunrise from the highest peak in the Island which is called Roque de los Muchachos: Like all the peaks in the Canary Islands, they're dorman volcanoes, here you can see the crater during sunrise: This mountain is home to many of the best telescopes in the World!, look how beautiful they look above the clouds during the sunrise: And the air was so clear that you could see the shadow of the mountain on the clouds! It was amazing how perfectly triangular the shape was. After the sunrise we went to see some of the telescopes close up. Here on the far right is the biggest optical telescope in the World!, the GTC: And these big mirrors out in the open are called the MAGIC telescopes, they look for very high energy astronomical events: Being above the clouds was very nice, and everything was very quiet. Simply amazing. On the way down we stopped several times to see the island, it was very beautiful. Here's a view of the main city, the port and on the background the airport. What an amazing day this was! Love, Sir James |

Hi Mom,
Today we went to another pool park, this one called Lago Martianez. It is also a very large salt water pool designed by Cesar Manrique that uses volcanic rocks. It's very nice to relax here in Tenerife with so many pools and beaches. The park had many sculptures including these dried up tree trunks. Cheers, Sir James |

Today we went to the Nature and Man museum in Santa Cruz where they had a beach themed cafeteria indoors:
There was a room with drawers for many insects and specially butterflies from around the world, look at the beautiful wings they have: There were also many archaeological items from the islands, including spooky mummies: When we left we took a picture in front of the Concepcion Parish: Love, Sir James |
JunCTionS Posted Jul 31, 2013, 10:59 pm |

Today we went around the whole island!
To start we went to the Roque de Garachico: It is a small island that is a bird sanctuary were several protected species live and some migratory birds also stop by. Then we went to the Punta Teno lighthouse, which is the westernmost point in the island. To the left you can faintly see the Gomera island. The water sea here in Tenerife is beautiful: Afterwards we drove through the mountains and arrived to a small town called Santiago del Teide: Apparently they had their local festivities during these days which are related to the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage. Then we went to the Costa Adeje where there are many large beaches and resorts: It was very touristy. Finally we stopped by the Cathedral of La Candelaria: Where there are very large statues of the 9 Menceyes (or kings) that ruled the islands by the time the Spaniards invaded them. We had a very fun day today and saw many places around the island. Love, Sir James |
JunCTionS Posted Aug 11, 2013, 3:53 pm |
Today we made way to the highest mountain in Spain: The Teide volcano!.
Here we are with the Teide on the background as well as the La Palma island: After going through a dense pine forest we came into a desert that looked very much like the surface of Mars! In fact they use this area to test robots that NASA and ESA will send to the Red Planet!. We stopped for a drink, it is very important to drink a lot of fluids here in the desert, and the view was like that of an American cowboys movie. Look at the weird structures the rocks make here: Love, Sir James |

Today we got to ride a submarine! and even more it was a Yellow Submarine!: It was amazing and we got a big window all to ourselves. Here we are just below the sea level waiting to go down And here I am at 30 meters below sea level!: With a big stingray behind me! They also explained to us that the red light from sunlight doesn't reach so far down, so that's why everything looked so blue, and my hat and scarf look black!. It was absolutely amazing! Love, Sir James. |

And this time we saw the Nazrid palaces, which is the most beautiful section and for which you need a special entrance. Here I am in the Patio de los Arrayanes: And here I am at the Ambassadors' room: And of course we visited the courtyard of the lions: Cheers, Sir James |
