Hey Mum,

yesterday a new buddy arrived. His name is Mr Pumba. He's very friendly and I'm happy to have him with me.

He was quite hungry and therefore we prepared some fruit for dinner.

Afterwards, we went to hostmums dancing class. We had been the first ones on the dancefloor waiting for the music.... and for the ladies  B)

Look, I was on the phone while Mr Pumba wrote down all the important stuff.

After a while we needed a break. Hostmum brought cake for the colleagues and it was so yummy!!!
And we had a look out of the window to the skyline of Düsseldorf.

Bye Mum!

Last Thursday we went to Gelsenkirchen to a concert of a German songwriter.

But first we had to stop at the petrol station. The fuel-prices are so high!!!

The songwriter's name is Stefan Stoppok and his music is very very good. He plays Folkrock with German lyrics. His concerts are always very funny because he talks a lot nonsens...

We took seat in the first row!!! Yeah!

Mr Pumba an I climbed onto the stage and had a look at the technical equipment.  B)

MUM!!! I participated in the 10th Metrogroup Marathon in Düsseldorf yesterday  :D

Okay, to be honest: we started only as a relay, but hostdad and hostmum ran 26 kilometres all together!

Before, Mr Pumba and I had a look to the map to find out the course and the change points for the relays.

Look, this was the competition number! :D

On my first holiday I joined my host mum and dad on a 50 kilometer bike trip to a big harbour called Zeebrugge together with Mr Pumba and Drescher.
We all had a chance to see a fire fighting boat, a submarine and a very big ferry. On one picture you can see myself sitting on an anchor with my friends  :D

Mum, look!

I visited Brugge together with hostmum, -dad, -grandma and -grandpa. And of course my buddies - Mr Pumba and Drescher.

First, we visited the "Begijnhof". A béguinage (French) or begijnhof (Dutch) is a collection of small buildings used by Beguines. These were various lay sisterhoods of the Roman Catholic Church, founded in the 13th century in the Low Countries, comprising religious women who sought to serve God without retiring from the world.

Afterwards we found a nice canal with typical buildings.

And then I tried my first Irish Coffee - wow! YUMMY!!!  ;)

The last pics show us on the market place in the heart of Brugge.

We had a stop in Vlissingen which is located in Walcheren.

Walcheren is a former island in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands at the mouth of the Scheldt estuary. It lies between the Oosterschelde in the north and the Westerschelde in the south and is roughly the shape of a rhombus. The two sides on the side of the North Sea consist of dunes; the rest of its coastline is made up of dykes. Middelburg lies at its centre; this city is the provincial capital and Vlissingen 9 km to the south is the main harbour. The third municipality is Veere.
Originally, Walcheren was an island, but polders and a dam across the Oosterschelde have connected it to the (former) island of Zuid-Beveland, which in turn has been connected to the North Brabant mainland.
Tom+Jerry

Posted Jun 5, 2012, 9:05 am
Another stop on our tour was Veere which is located at the Veerse Meer.

The Veerse Meer (Lake Veere) is a lagoon in the province of Zeeland, the Netherlands. It was separated from the North Sea in 1961 by the Delta Works dam system. It is 22 km long, and 1,500 m wide in places. Lying between the old islands of Noord-Beveland, Zuid-Beveland and Walcheren, it is linked to the river Scheldt by the Zandkreekdam lock, which allows this lagoon to have brackish water, slightly less salty than sea water. There are 13 small uninhabited islands in the lake. Some of its banks, underwater at high tide, have been made into nature reserves, while others are popular for water sports, such as sailing.

I had a walk on the beach together with hostmum, hostdad, Mr Pumba and Drescher!!!  B)

But: Business before pleasure! We found a Geocache which was buried deep in the sand. It was hard work to dig it. But look what an amazing BIG thing we found!!!

After the hard work we lay down in the sand to catch some tan  :D

Here we are in front of the library
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00293.jpg

We stop in the bar of the university and we will have a little breakfast. As we are friends, we share our drinks: coffee with milk and chocolate with milk:
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00292.jpg

The university is in the center of the city, so we have walked through Las Ramblas!!! It’s a very known street and it’s always full of tourist!!!
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00297.jpg

Hello mommy!!!
Do you know what??? This weekend will be funny!!! We’re going to celebrate “Sant Joan”. It’s a tradition to celebrate the midsummer night (23rd-24th). People goes to beach to light bonfires and throw fireworks, but we won’t do that.
We’re going to do another tradition: bake and eat “coca”! A “coca” is a kind of cake. Ape Apina, Zero and I will do a chocolate “coca”. I will explain you how to make it :)
We need a natural yoghurt.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00342.jpg

We put the yoghurt in a bowl and clean the pot to use to measure the other ingredients.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00344.jpg

We add 3 eggs and a measure of sunflower oil and we mix them with the electric mixer.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00345.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00346.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00348.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00349.jpg

Now we add 2 measures of flour, 1 yeast packet, 2 measures of sugar, 1 measure of cocoa and a bit of salt and mix them well.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00350.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00351.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Ape%20Apina/DSC00352.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00353.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00354.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00355.jpg

We put the mix in a baking tin and we bake it in the oven at 180ºC during 40-45 min.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00356.jpg

Ooohhh!!! :( It has broken a little when we remove it from the baking tin… But it seems yummy!!!

Mommy, we're gonna try it again. But with a differente "coca"!
We will bake a "coca de llardons" (crackling pancake) as a gift for Zero's mommy's dad because is his favourite. I hope we do it well and he loves it!!!
We need a sheet of puff-paste, we stend it a bit and make it bigger. Then, we cut it in two.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00363.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00364.jpg

We will use the big part as the base and we have to prick it with a fork. I do that :D
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00366.jpg

Now we add the crackles. Ape Apina was hungry and wanted to eat some!!! :p
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Ape%20Apina/DSC00368.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00369.jpg

We add sugar…
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00370.jpg

…cover it with the other part…
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Ape%20Apina/DSC00371.jpg

... prick with the fork again…
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00372.jpg

… and paint it with egg (me again!!!).
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00373.jpg

Now we add more sugar and some pine-nut. Bake in the oven at 200ºC during 10-15min. Et voilà!!!
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00374.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00376.jpg

I think this was easier than the one we did before. I love bake, mommy!!! When I come back home, will we bake something together??
Love you!!!

Hello mommy!!!
How are you??
Today I’ve learnt something new!!! Zero taught us how to say “banana” in spanish and in catalan. It’s one of Ape Apina life missions. It isn’t one of mine, but it was useful.

Z-Doing a summary, we can find two kinds of bananas: American bananas and Canarian bananas. The difference between both is the way how it mature. American bananas are not so sweet, so people use it to cook. Canarian bananas are sweeter and are better for desserts.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00413.jpg

Z-So, American bananas or bananas, have the same name in spanish and in catalan (the language that people talks in Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia). But with Canarian bananas (from Canary Islands), the name change: in spanish is “plátano” and in catalan is “plàtan”.

Hello mommy!!!
Today we had an afternoon lunch and it was special because we help Ape Apina to get another part of one of his life missions (to eat something made with banana). And to get this, we made a fruit salad (or “macedonia” in spanish/catalan)
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00357.jpg

First we get the juice of the oranges
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00358.jpg

And then, we add different fruits.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00359.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Ape%20Apina/DSC00360.jpg

Ape Apina was happy to add himself the banana :)

http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00362.jpg

Bon appetit!!!

Ape Apina got another part of one of his life missions, congratulations!!!

Hello mommy!!!
How are you? Had you a nice weekend? We hadn’t!!!! It was raining and raining and raining!!! We went to Gavà for the annual local festival, but was cancelled :(

But today the sun came out again and we did an “spooky” itinerary!!! We visited some places where something paranormal succeeded and Zero told us about them. This is the map:
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00419.jpg

Our itinerary is “La Rambla maleïda” (The damned Rambla), so we took the train to the city center, where all started.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00420.jpg

In the train, we read about the places we went to visit.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00422.jpg

This is Plaça Catalunya, the city center (although it’s not the geological center). But it’s a comercial knot where some important streets born.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00424.jpg

La Rambla is one of those important streets and is where our itinerary starts. Do you know that this street was a simple torrent until XIX?
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00428.jpg

In this part of the street was the old gate of “Sant Sever” with its towers called “Canaletes”, wich gave the name to the most famous fountain of the city, “La font de Canaletes”. Zero and I where here few days ago, but Ape Apina don’t, and, moreover, Zero didn’t tell the spooky story :)
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00429.jpg

People say that, in the middle of XIX, there was a “Ghost of Canaletes” who walked around the area. One night, nobody knows why, talked to some girls that were taking water from the fountain with their jugs and they were so terrified that they spent some days in bed. People decided to face the ghost, but it disappeared.
Maybe the ghost was a victim of that enchanted waters because, according to an old tradition, who drink water of this fountain fall in love with the city and never can’t depart.
In the base of the fountain there’s a plaque where is written: “If you drink water of this ‘font de Canaletes’ you will be a Barcelona lover forever and don’t mind how far you go because you will always come back”.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00433.jpg

And this is the moment when I fell in love with this beautiful city!!!
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00437.jpg

Then we went to “Carrer Estruc”. “Estruc” comes from “astruc” that at the same time comes from “astròleg” (astrologer) and also was the name of an herb used in medicine. In this street there’s a plaque that explains this and also explains that this street had the name “Astruc Sacanera” at the beginning of XV and there was where “Pedra Escurçonera” (a natural herb, a cure against rage and pricking) was sold. At number 22 of this street is the exactly place where it was sold.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00438.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00439.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00440.jpg

We continued until “Portal de l’Àngel”. In the place where is situated this fountain (it seems like “Font de Canaletes”) there was a well where lived a hell being. Maybe this being wasn’t so mischievous… In the middle of XIX, an stranger stole the keys of the city, but he wasn’t able to leave the city because the access points were closed. Thirsty and unknowing the story about that well, he wanted to drink some water, but two pale hands come out from the well and asphyxiated him. The day after, his body and the keys were found next to the well and this was enough to verify that a phantom lived there.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00443.jpg

We went to the church of Santa Anna. There, at the beginning of XX, two students attend a died mate which had a long beard that obsess one of that students which bet with his friend that he was capable to pull out three hairs of that beard. When he pulled out one, the corpse moved a little. Then, he pulled out another one and the corpse moved again. But when the student pulled out the third hair, the corpse woke up, opened the eyes, took a chandelier and threw it to the student who ran away. The clerk of the church keep that chandelier as a proof, but we didn’t see that because the church was closed :(
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00444.jpg

Our next stop was in “Carrer de Bertrellans”. In this street was situated the first coffin manufacturer. The marketing of the coffins consist in a card with the name and the address of the manufacturer and a note that said that any client complained about the quality of their coffins. People says that a corpse who was a “client” of the manufacturer of this street, was so uncomfortable in his coffin that woke up and go to the next room where the manufacturer was working and said to him: “Your coffins aren’t worth anything!! What an uncomfortable short time!”. The manufacturer was faint-hearted and since then nobody dares to say that any client complained.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00445.jpg

We continued our way and we found an interesting thing. Maybe it’s an spooky place but it isn’t in our itinerary. This is the sepulchral roman way discovered during the construction of a building in 1954.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00448.jpg

We arrived again at La Rambla and at number 107 we found “el palau de la Virreina” (the palace of Vicequeen). This palace was built on XVIII and is where Vicequeen lived before to become a tormented soul. I will explain you later…
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00451.jpg

We went straight on and arrived at “Mercat de la Boqueria”, a very known market where people sell everything. If they don’t sell it, it’s because doesn’t exist! There’s a shop where insects are sold to eat!!! But it was closed :(
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00455.jpg

This wonderful place keeps an spooky story too. This market was built over the ruins of “convent dels Carmelites Descalços de Sant Josep” (Discalced Carmelite of Saint Joseph Convent). On 15th July, 1835, the friars decided to not celebrate the vigil. The day after, while the friars slept, some voices were singing psalms and woke them up. They run to the church and were able to see some skeletons with monastic customs celebrating the vigil. They followed the skeletons to the cemetery and saw how they went inside their graves. Ten days later the convent was burned. People say that on 15th July you can listen some voices during the night inside the market.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00461.jpg

This is “el Pla de la Boqueria”. Today is decorated by Joan Miró, a very known painter, but some centuries ago, was the place where dead animals, tripes, intestines… were sold, things that were related with satanism.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00464.jpg

Our next stop was “el Liceu”, an opera theatre. Its story is sooo long, but Zero did a summary. This theatre was built over the ruins of “convent dels Trinitaris Descalços de la Bona Nova”, a burned convent, on 1844 and on 4th april 1847 was opened for the first time. On 1852 there was celebrated the Carnival but a friar shout that they were dancing over sacred land and predicted that it will be burned. This was a reality on 9th april 1861. An old man said that if the liceum was built again, will be burned again, because it was a damned place. Six months later, the liceum was re-built, with water tanks on the roof for if in the future there’s another fire. But one day a very strong storm started and flooded the theatre. The liceum was finally built but on 7th november 1893, two Orsini bombs were thrown in the theatre but only one exploded. This doesn’t end here. On 8th April 1945, the roof fell, luckily there wasn’t people inside. And on 31st january 1994, a worker was repairing the firewall with a soldering iron and there was two workers with fire-extinguishers but a little spark got the curtain and all the theatre burned again. Since then, nothing has happened, but who knows…
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00471.jpg

We are coming to the end of our itinerary. We went to “Carrer Arc del Teatre”. In this street you can see on 24th june, during the night, the spirit of Herod’s daughters dancing, but without heads!! They are sentenced for Saint John the Baptist’s decapitation to dance for the eternity.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00472.jpg

And finally, “la plaça Reial” (Royal Square). Do you remember that I told you about Vicequeen? She was Maria Francesca Fiveller i Bru and she got to marriage of convenience with the nephew of Viceroy of Perú. But he left her alone at the altar and the Viceroy, an old and womaniser man, got marriage with her. Three years later she was widowed. And after her death, her spirit walks around this square, but nobody knows why. We couldn’t see her.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00498.jpg

This walk was so scary but funny at the same time!!! And we visited some interesting and touristic places :D
I love you mom!!! Bye!!!

Hello again, mommy!!!!
I didn’t told you all what we did today!!! Before to came back home we visit some interesting places I want to show you :)

In this hotel there's a plaque that says that Frederic Chopin stayed here when he was in Barcelona with his wife, but in this hotel stayed many others important figures too as Einstein or Buffalo Bill.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00494.jpg

This little street takes you to “Museu de Cera” (Wax museum).
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00478.jpg

Can you see Superman and C3PO at the top of the building?
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00480.jpg

Oohh!!! :o This man wants to commit suicide!!! Uff!! It’s just a wax sculpture…
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00485.jpg

And this man let us to take a photo with him. His always sitting here taking a sunbath :D
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00490.jpg

That man who’s on the top of that column is Cristóbal Colón, who discovered America in 1492. He’s pointing towards América.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00476.jpg

And here you can see a special building. It’s known as “La Casa dels paraigües” (The house of umbrellas) because it was, long time ago, a shop where they sold umbrellas (and fans) but its real name is Casa Bruno Cuadros. Can you see the chinese dragon on the right?
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00465.jpg

And the last monument we saw before take the train was this. It’s a monument to Francesc Macià who was President of Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and who proclaimed the Catalan Republic on april 14th, 1931.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00425.jpg

Hello mommy!! How are you?
Today we visited Vilafranca del Penedés, but Zero’s mommy forgot the batteries of the cam, so we didn’t take any photo :( She says we can call her “idiot” but I’m not capable…
So, as I can’t show you nothing about Vilafranca, I will explain you something about this city: Vilafranca del Penedés is very known for its wine. Actually, this city is one of the most important wine-growing centers in Spain. It has big wine warehouses and some of its brands of wine are very famous.
From Vilafranca , the church of Santa Maria is a very precious monument too and is gothic in style.
Maybe we return some day, but I don’t know when.
Bye mommy!!!

Hello mommy!!!
Do you remember our visit to Catalunya en miniatura? And do you remember a model of Sagrada Familia? Therefore, today we went to visit the REAL Sagrada Familia!!!!
Zero explained us some curious things about this building.

Z-This is Sagrada Familia, an expiatory temple that means that this building it has been built from donations. You have to know that this temple is under construction, because it’s not finished yet!! Gaudí started to work on it but he died before the end of the construction. After this, many architects have continued the work. But you will see the differences…

Z-This is the original part by Gaudí. I think it’s so beautiful with a lot of details. Its “Façana Naixement” (Nativity Façade) and explains with its sculptures the nativity of Jesus. It’s full of life (the same nativity and vegetals and animals).
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00507.jpg

Z- And his is the new part, “Façana de la Passió” (Passion Façade) by Josep Maria Subirachs. It represents the Via Crucis, reflecting the desolation, the pain and the death of Jesuschrist and it’s made withouth details and with austere materials.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00519.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00520.jpg

Wich part do you like the most, mommy? I can’t decide, it’s so beautiful and amazing this building!!!!

Goodbyee mommy!!! Lots of kisses ^^

http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00802.jpg

Z-I’ve got a surprise for you!! Let me introduce you one of my brothers. He is Cobi!!!
C-Hello boys!!
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00803.jpg

A-Nice to meet you!! My name is Ape Apina.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00804.jpg

T-Hello! My name is TezTez
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00805.jpg

Z-Cobi is famous!!! Do you know why? Because in 1992 the Olympic Games were here in Barcelona and he was the mascot of the games!! And it doesn’t finish here. He got a Tv serie where he was the protagonist with some of his friends!!
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00806.jpg

C-Do you want to watch the opening of my Tv serie?
A,T,Z-Yes, yes, please!!!
All you can watch it too here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYwpuPdMkHU
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00807.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00811.jpg

http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00817.jpg

The lyric says:
Cobi, the most wonderful mascot
Lives near the sea in Barcelona
Petra*, Jordi, Olivia and Forçut,
No-Si and Cuca too are his troupe.
But here comes Dr.Normal
Trying to bother

Woods and extinction fauna,
All I want is to destroy them,
Although I do my best
Cobi wins and I lose again.

To explore, to do ski, to dance,
To play, to paint, to travel to…

Venus, London, Tokio, India.

New York, Senegal, Reykjavik, the jungle, Hong Kong,
The desert, Moscow, La Pampa, La Costa Brava!

Cobi, the most wonderful mascot
Lives near the sea in Barcelona
Cobi will be the greatest friend for you
C’mon! We’re waiting you with the Cobi Troupe.
Friends Forever!

*As you can see, Petra haven’t got arms. She was the mascot of the Paralympic Games in Barcelona 1992.

Then, Cobi showed us some books about all the history of Olympic Games and we learned a lot.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00818.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00819.jpg

And this is the part about Barcelona.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00820.jpg

The Olympic Games in Barcelona were wonderful and all the people say that were the best ever!!! Tomorrow will be the 20th anniversary and Cobi will show us some more things.
Tomorrow I tell you, mom!!! I think it will be fantastic ^^
Bye!!! Miss youu!!!

Hi mommy!!!
Today we have visited Camp Nou!!! And Doña Felisa get one of hers life missions and Zero improve one of his!!!
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00006.jpg

We enter by one of the lateral gates. Can you see all that shields in the wall? They are from each “penya barcelonista”, a community that brings support to a football team, in this case, Barça.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00011.jpg

This big truck is TVE, a national public television channel that will transmit live the match. Tomorrow there will be a Barça-Madrid match, the two most important teams in Spain. We have found a cartel that informed that.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00016.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00052.jpg

This is the principal gate to the stadium, but you have to pay to visit it.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00018.jpg

In front of this gate, there are some sculptures.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00022.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00024-1.jpg
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00029.jpg

And this is me with Barça flags and Catalonia flag.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/TezTez/DSC00045.jpg

And finally, outside the stadium, you can see “La Masia”, it was home to the Barcelona youth squad.
http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/zerosdiary/Zero/DSC00056-1.jpg

Congratulations Doña Felisa!!! I hope you enjoy this visit!!

This week are the festivities in the neighborhood of Sants. It’s typical to decorate some streets and we have visited two of them.
The first one we have found is decorated like a coalmine!!! We are in a coalmine!!!

Hi mommy!
Today we helped Rico the Tiger and Doña Felisa to draw and write in the travelling notebook. This notebook will travel soon, so they wanted to participate in it before it continues its trip :)

Hey Mummy,

I arrived in western Germany today, to be exact in a city called "Dortmund" :) It was a long journey but I finally made it. I spent the whole day in the letterbox because my new host Kate was very busy and just came home at evening. I heard some voices and something that sounded like a duck and I was curious what's gonna happen. As I crawled out of the envelope I saw my new host and a TV, Commodore Quack. Quack is a duck, so I was totally right as I thought that I heard a duck.

Well at first I had to orientate where I am and needed some food.

My host visited Austria in July so I found something related to my home, a bust of Sisi!! :) It makes me miss home...

Hey Mummy,

Kate took a long walk with Commodore Quack, me and her dog today. It was so lovely, we started at the Zeche Zollern. It's an old colliery and it was built from 1898 to 1904. After the closing of the colliery in 1969 it became a very important museum. Afterwards we passed many fields and walked through a forest. Besides we made a stop at a castle set on a lake, called “Haus Dellwig”. It was built in the 13th century, was destroyed in the Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648) and was rebuilt from 1658 to 1690. It’s a lovely place, everything’s so quiet and peaceful, there are no cars or people but many animals and it's surrounded by nature. :)

Starting at Zeche Zollern :)

This is my host's dog, a Jack Russell terrier named "Lady". I guess you remember her as my buddy Monster ^_^ stayed in Dortmund with Kate :)

This was the first field that we passed.

As we continued our walk we passed through an allotment-garden area with a lovely colourful bench :)

Later we passed another field.

On our way back home we walked through a forest again. There were some steepish stairs!! It doesn't look that steepish on the pictures, but I swear it was very hard to go up there.  :stare:

After a long walk we came home and now I'm really tired. I enjoyed the fresh air and the landscape and I'm happy that I saw this nice castle :)

Hi Mummy,

the weather was lovely today so we decided to visit the zoo here in Dortmund. It's a huge zoo with many animals, it was so much fun!!
I couldn't take pictures with all the animals there, some were too far away to take a nice picture with me and the animals. Well, but I did take some pictures :)

Here you can see me with a rhino from close up, from a distance and the rhino itself :)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-BqLRIYA3SHk/UF4HmKrAjhI/AAAAAAAACYY/2qnlEknInjA/s640/SAM_2224.JPG

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-QUe1ja0tOsI/UF4MWsF7RfI/AAAAAAAACbY/kfvatzD1KTE/s640/SAM_2278.JPG

There's an amazonhouse with 3 levels. The climate in this house is like in a rainforest, there were some animals who just walked / flew through this house without any cages or something like that. One of the animals was a big iguana :)
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-F-8eECxlJZ8/UF4Hn2VABxI/AAAAAAAACYo/WMCGFVvrud4/s640/SAM_2238.JPG

Here you can see a camel :)
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-6kZuBh-XT3M/UF4Hp71gZHI/AAAAAAAACY4/o2hdERHzLJo/s640/SAM_2240.JPG

Let's come to the lions, it was the most funniest part of the zoo. There are two lion cubs, named "Lolek" and "Bolek". They were so cute!! They squabbled and played with some toys, it was so much fun!! :D
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Qgd-69LmEEg/UF4HqzzJYTI/AAAAAAAACZA/OkVCmG_c0J0/s640/SAM_2243.JPG
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-L6rPX4xtO_E/UF4MVtUmsVI/AAAAAAAACbU/RLdvLm9gQTk/s640/SAM_2242.JPG
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--Zbtye61nLw/UF4HxI_8ciI/AAAAAAAACZ8/WFdDpbjjydI/s640/SAM_2264.JPG

Next to the lions were the tigers. This one had to stay in this bleak cage for a few minutes because the zookeeper cleaned his terrain outdoors.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-e6hxLpqOI20/UF4HxwTHtVI/AAAAAAAACaI/6gobsepxZrk/s640/SAM_2270.JPG

This is a part of the terrain of the siamangs. Siamangs are apes / gibbons with black pelage.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-c8z_gBRttDU/UF4HtWFNAWI/AAAAAAAACZc/bdqZ4-mJIak/s640/SAM_2257.JPG

Well, it was very interesting and I learned much about animals from all over the world. :) I'm so happy that I completed one of my missions!!!  ;)
Oh and you won't believe what happened!! A bird just shat on my host's head as we looked at the giraffes. I couldn't stop laughing but Kate wasn't very amused..  :p  :D
Alright, it was a long day and I need some sleep now.

Love,

Hi Mummy,

it's Commodore Quacks birthday today :) Germanya, my host and me sang a Happy-Birthday-Song for him and he got a present. He really had no idea what it was and he was very excited :)

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-_Zt_x-XgFbo/UGcTvxugLMI/AAAAAAAACf0/U2rsdcwHcCk/s640/SAM_2384.JPG

Commodore Quack unwrapped it and saw a necklace with a wheel!! We told him that he got a wheel because of his love for boats and the sea. He loves it!! :)

He gave Germanya and me a big hug and gave thanks to us. He wouldn't have thought that he'd get such a nice present :)

In the afternoon Kate showed us the theatre of the musical "Starlight Express" in Bochum. The theatre is very close to our home here in Bochum, it's just 10 minutes by foot. My host is a huge fan :) It was composed by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber. It's a musical about the world championship of some trains. Engines from all over the world try to win the championship, the maincharacters are Greaseball - the Diesel engine, Electra - the electric engine and Rusty - the steam engine. Besides it's about finding some self-confidence and the true love.
It will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year!! It's the musical with the longest repertory season in Germany (it opened in Germany in 1988) and there's a world record for the most visitors to a musical in a single theatre. This theatre was especially built for this show. The musical is also currently on tour through the UK.

Hey Mum :)

The weather was absolutely beautiful today!! The weather forecast for the next days isn't good, it says that it'll rain as from tomorrow, so we decided to enjoy the last sunny day. We took a walk around a lake, called "Ümminger See", it was so nice!!  B)
We crossed a little bridge, I think it looks pretty with the trees on both endings.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6o64YG0gMYs/UGnT-qMsINI/AAAAAAAACh0/3chgr5NOW0g/s640/SAM_2396.JPG

This is the big lake :)

Here you can see a small pond which is next to the lake:

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-NSm3hW7gMVY/UGnTxl-ErCI/AAAAAAAACgg/baihBZcktKU/s640/SAM_2409.JPG

There was a tree with a hole, it was so cosy in there.

Helloooo Mum!!

You won't believe it, we made a trip to the german North Sea coast today :) We visited many little towns in the East Frisia region, located in Lower Saxony. We started in Greetsiel. There are twin windmills which are very very old.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-X1w1McypTrY/UGwG0UZRjCI/AAAAAAAACl4/3Jj9DRHS8Mo/s640/SAM_2413.JPG

Afterwards we visited a small town called "Neßmersiel". Well, it's more a holiday resort than a normal town. My host used to spend her holidays there for many years since she was a child. Neßmersiel belongs to the county of Aurich.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-awjL0jA9HWU/UGwGsbdD-TI/AAAAAAAACk0/5AN8KsNFvlI/s640/SAM_2423.JPG

There's an old sluice, but it's not used anymore. Besides there's an old windmill. The sails of the windmill don't exist anymore, so it doesn't work :D

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-iHHAcK-qJnQ/UGwGxZxat4I/AAAAAAAAClg/tSmurGSgzT8/s640/SAM_2416.JPG
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Wjv5vIPpmfo/UGwGtzXZrQI/AAAAAAAAClA/Jnb62F2mnwk/s512/SAM_2421.JPG

Neßmersiel lies directly behind a dike, cows are grazing there during the day.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-UbxKHNFCtlo/UGwGpid7rnI/AAAAAAAACkU/vmolxuAwnqI/s640/SAM_2427.JPG
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-AruWSR-h7EQ/UGwGm5NqP6I/AAAAAAAACjw/QgXyrBmoZXs/s640/SAM_2432.JPG

Our next stop was in Neuharlingersiel. It's a lovely fishing village with a small harbour. My host told me that there are more boats normally, it looks a bit 'empty' on this picture.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NucyaB6Lrfo/UGwGl3lfcVI/AAAAAAAACjo/C_NvgLqNAK0/s640/SAM_2434.JPG

And finally our last stop was in Carolinensiel, another lovely fishing village. We saw a paddle steamer there!! It was so nice :)

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-zNk1XtGVGB8/UGwGjx1iKCI/AAAAAAAACjU/1I66a_DeZDc/s640/SAM_2437.JPG
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-VJ1PxZE-nFA/UGwGhVq5XDI/AAAAAAAACi4/XiIfTL-oyKk/s640/SAM_2440.JPG

In Carolinensiel were many more boats than in Neuharlingersiel :)

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-eDaVHfY3xB0/UGwGe0vRj8I/AAAAAAAACik/uMtVmGe26M0/s640/SAM_2443.JPG

Oh it was such a lovely day. I loved being on the coast, seeing so many boats and scenting the air of the sea. :) But it was a loooong day... The journey there took more than 3 and a half hours by car and the return journey took more than 3 1/2 hours as well. That's 7 hours just for the journey there and back, not included the ways between Greetsiel, Neßmersiel, Neuharlingersiel and Carolinensiel. So many hours in the car, gosh, it was exhausting! But it was totally worth it :)

Hey Mum,

today wasn't a special day, I just spent the time at home while my host had to be at the university. As she came home I helped her writing some postcards, she's a postcrosser :) The one with the cat and the mouse goes to the USA, the other one goes to Russia.

Heeelloooo Mummy!! :)

Kate showed me the german mining museum ("Deutsches Bergbau Museum" ) in Bochum today. It's one of the most important museums about mining worldwide. Aside from the normal museum you can go on the shaft tower and there's a recreated adit in in a depth of 20 meters which you can explore. The length of the tunnel is about 2,5km.  :o
Bochum and the whole Ruhr Area were famous for mining and industry. In the past, there were lots of collieries and steel productions in the Ruhr Area. Most of the collieries don't exist anymore.
This is me in front of the museum and the shaft tower :)

Hey Mum!!

Kate had a surprise for me and you won’t believe what we did today!! We went to the “TV Total Stock Car Crash Challenge”! It’s a huge television event where german (and some foreign) celebrities take part in a stock car racing. It takes place in the “Veltins Arena” in Gelsenkirchen, the football stadium of the popular football club “FC Schalke 04”. The host of this show is Stefan Raab, one of the most famous TV hosts here in Germany. There are 10 teams with 3 drivers each. Guess what, Formula 1 driver Adrian Sutil took part too! Since 2005 there’s one TV Total Stock Car Crash Challenge per year, so this is the 8th time, it’s the 5th time that my host was there :)

It’s kinda complicated to explain exactly what it is but I wanna try it. There are 3 different car-classes (1500 cm³, 1900 cm³ and 3000 cm³).
In the first heat are 3 races (one race for each class) where the drivers get points for every lap. The driver who first finishes 10 rounds is the winner.
In the second heat are 3 races as well. The drivers get points for every lap AND they get points when they overturn or spin another car. Every race lasts 10 minutes, the driver with the most points after 10 minutes wins the race.
After these 2 heats there’s the “Caravan Crash Cup”. As you can imagine the goal of it is to destroy the caravans of the other drivers.
The last race is the “Rodeo”. It’s the most exciting race of the day. Every car (no matter which class) that is still fit do drive (many cars get destroyed in the second heat) takes part in this race. They have to destroy the other cars (by overturning, spinning, ramming and things like that) until one single car is left. The driver of this car is the winner. There were 2 winners this year for the first time! Adrian Sutil and Timo Scheider (a DTM driver) ended up in a "sudden death" to make out a winner, but both cars broke at the same time! Crazy!

The Veltins Arena is a strange arena, you can’t pay cash there so you need to buy a “Knappenkarte” first and then you can buy your food and drinks with it. This is the Knappenkarte of last year’s event. The man that you can see on the card is the host, Stefan Raab.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4BXXRMRzz4g/UHrdCHmcruI/AAAAAAAACqQ/FPhMJG761TQ/s512/SAM_2493.JPG

Here you can see the arena with the race course and the pit of the team "Software Pyramide" on the left. The seats in front of us were empty when I took this picture because we were there veeery early and had to wait 2 hours until the beginning, but better too early than too late, right? :)

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AHlf8Smc0OE/UHvkO_bQaTI/AAAAAAAACrg/MXeHTjn6fMA/s640/DSC02635.JPG

The box of the TV host Steven Gätjen, who moderated the show for the TV viewer and for the 50.000 people in the arena, was right next to us!! It was so exciting to see all the german celebrities walking and standing near us. Unfortunately I couldn't take pictures of it :(

It was a fun night even though it was bitterly cold (even Steven Gätjen wore a winter jacket) and I was very tired at the end. We stayed there from about 6pm untlil 2.15am next morning!!!

Alright, that's it about my evening. Sorry for the long post ;)

Hey Mummy,
how are you doing? I hope you're fine!!
Autumn's slowly arriving in Germany these days. The leaves start to become colourful, it rains much and the people start to decorate everything. :)

I spent some time outdoors today and I found many mushrooms :)

Look, the leaves became red :)

This is a restaurant which is next to our house here in Bochum, it's called "Gasthaus Goeke". It's more than 100 years old and my host says that the food is delicious :)

This is the view from a window. Isn't it nice?? :) Look at the different colours of the trees of the forest. I can't wait until they become much more colourful and turn deeper red, orange and yellow, but I think I have to wait a few more days or weeks until it happens.

Hey Mum,

we've been to Recklinghausen this evening. It's a city near Dortmund and Bochum, about 15 or 20 minutes by car. There's a special event these days, it's called "Recklinghausen leuchtet", in english it's something like "Recklinghausen shines". There are many light installations in the inner city which illuminate 46 houses. Everything looks so lovely! I absolutely loved being there and I could've spent many hours there. I couldn't take pictures with all of them, it was way too much!! So, some pictures are with me, some are just with my shape (haha) and some are just private photos that my host took, but we wanted to show you how lovely everything looked :)

This is the town hall of Recklinghausen. The illumination changed every few seconds, I think this is a nice one :)

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EAb1N9FJN0k/UIWn-AAlywI/AAAAAAAAC1Q/VzG9xp7gzXo/s640/SAM_2570.JPG

This is an old pharmacy :)

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-VHfB32t286Y/UIWoDqztldI/AAAAAAAAC1s/1bXrJgOtZZk/s640/SAM_2579.JPG

I think this was a law office, but I'm not quite sure :D Besides of the nice lights, there was a ghost that flew along the building (also an illumination), it was so cute!! Unfortunately I couldn't take a picture of the ghost :(

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-I0wbxCedItw/UIWoE3tWz_I/AAAAAAAAC14/9RmrpPgBv_w/s640/SAM_2581.JPG

Here you can see the entrance of a hotel. It looked much nicer than in this picture and it was a huge building, but there were so many people in front of the hotel and I didn't want them to be seen in the pictures.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-yeFAUatTfsQ/UIWoGaA9ZrI/AAAAAAAAC2A/Wzr204VUwW4/s512/SAM_2584.JPG

I don't know exactly what this building is for... Anyhow, it shows a scene of the bible, the feeding of the five thousand and the multiplication of the loaves (well, and the fishes, that's why you see so many fishes there). Haha, it's hard to recognize my shape, it was so dark!!

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ILIUGHE8KDY/UIWoHpR5FxI/AAAAAAAAC2I/ax8UE8a7ePA/s640/SAM_2587.JPG

This is the house of a jeweller. It's one of my favourite buildings here in Recklinghausen, it's so colourful :) Haha, can you find me or my shape? :D

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-DwCnZwEY_60/UIWoP7JwrYI/AAAAAAAAC28/eyIM1Us6HM0/s512/SAM_2599.JPG

Well, there were maaaaany installations, maybe I'll go back to Recklinghausen at the end of the week and take some other pictures for you, mummy :)
It's late now and I need some sleep. Have a nice evening!!

Hello Mummy,

long time no speak, I'm so sorry!! It didn't happen very much the last days... The other TV's and me helped Kate to bake a huge biscuit today!! A friend of my host has birthday on saturday and one of his presents is this huge biscuit. It's a special one, but you'll see it later ;)

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-aZCh_SChIT8/UJLidzjjA0I/AAAAAAAAC6E/7wYSsh2rfwM/s640/SAM_2641.JPG

Well, first we had to mix the ingredients.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-d024yCiWuDk/UJLibvLbYZI/AAAAAAAAC54/NrD6mx-XCw0/s640/SAM_2643.JPG

Afterwards we had to wrap the batter in saran wrap and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-d92d154wr_4/UJLiY7cIznI/AAAAAAAAC5g/rgLqWX9KgXQ/s640/SAM_2648.JPG

Aaaand here it is!!! It's a huge guitar and a record. Isn't it great?? :)

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0JNCv2S5uuM/UJLiV5GSUbI/AAAAAAAAC5E/JpWk3iPz9QU/s640/SAM_2653.JPG

Well, we had way too much batter so we made some small biscuits out of the remains.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bb8dWPoeapc/UJLiTnq2O8I/AAAAAAAAC40/KDwj2YXavFc/s640/SAM_2657.JPG

This is the guitar after it came out of the oven. Well, it looked a bit bleakly and boring so we had to posh it up with some colours (with chocolate and so on) :)

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-QAVYClXl-uo/UJLiRejGzjI/AAAAAAAAC4o/BwadA1Nvy88/s640/SAM_2659.JPG
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-LRkmzRD3O2c/UJLiPYyZ9vI/AAAAAAAAC4U/5PzyFPszqGc/s640/SAM_2661.JPG

And this is the result, but it doesn't look as nice as we thought it would.

Hey Mummy,

my host is very busy at the moment so I stayed at home the last days. It's very rainy, cold and gloomy outdoors so I just cuddled up on the sofa with a blanket and a hot-water bottle. The others joined me :) Ooooh the joy of a cosy spot and the pleasant feeling of warmth...

Hey Mum,

I spent some time in the city this evening, there's so much to see at night :) RedSwan joined us with the TV's that she's hosting, Leif E and her own TV Collenferð.
There's a metro station called "Lohring" with some pretty nice light installations :) The floor is made of glass with lamps under it and there's a big yellow "x" on the enamel wall. I think it looks quite nice :)
Here you can see the metro station and a group photo:

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-q_I_pkUXU8w/UJ6t_Rouv7I/AAAAAAAAC_Y/aUAYRVDhUN4/s512/SAM_2673.JPG

Well, this is the german mining museum by night, I've already been here on the 12th of October so I won't tell you anything about it again ;)

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Ksz3GWd3hnc/UJ6txCShGmI/AAAAAAAAC9U/YRxvDr8oFVw/s640/SAM_2691.JPG

Our last stop was at the Bermuda3Eck, the "Bermuda triangle". It's a very popular bar district in the inner city of Bochum with heaps of bars, it's so nice!! There's a lot of activity every evening, hundreds of people come here every evening to have a fun night out, drinking alcohol and to wine and dine. On the following picture you can see the end of the Bermuda3Eck with a huge lettering on top of a building so people can see it from further afar. A special thing about this building is that there's a big outdoor skate park on top of the building. You can reach it by entering the store for skater on the ground floor. Pretty cool!! Maybe I'll be able to take another picture during the day. It rained today that's why there's nobody up there and everything's wet.

Hey Mummy,

today I visited the university here in Dortmund. It's called TU Dortmund (TU = technical university). It exists since 1968 and has 2 campuses. The northern campus is bigger than the southern campus, but the southern one is more familiar.
At the northern campus are the natural sciences, the humane discipline and everything related to music. At the southern campus is the whole constructing stuff, like architecture, spatial planning and civil engineering.
I just visited the southern campus today, because my hosts studies spatial planning there.

Here you can see some of the buildings of the southern campus, the building on the right is the one of my host's faculty of spatial planning. Besides you can see the H-Bahn (Hochbahn or Hängebahn). The H-Bahn is an overhead track which connects the campuses.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/--Qt8vf9iVTk/UKUL5OCwu6I/AAAAAAAADBQ/hvDqMSIXpyE/s512/SAM_2700.JPG

We had some free hours today so we spent some time in a lounge which is especially for the students of my hosts faculty. There are some old sofas and some coffee tables :) Well it's not very modern and the air isn't really fresh but it's comfortable  :p

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-jFYSombujeY/UKUL8oE8mgI/AAAAAAAADBo/-P76CsmCeE8/s640/SAM_2697.JPG

Well, later that day I had to say goodbye to Germany and Commodore Quack because I continue my travel today :) I really can't wait to see some new places. I will miss my new friends but maybe I'll see them again one day.

Today my host had a appointment in the old town and after that we took a short walk through the old town. First we stopped at St. Elisabeth Church. Originally, St. Elizabeth's Church was part of the former branch settlement of the German Knights' Order. The humble Gothic chapel was demolished in 1785 and replaced by this mighty neo-classical building. St. Elizabeth's Church was badly damaged during World War II and reconstructed between 1947 and 1950, restored on the outside in 1975/76. The interior shell of the 50 metre dome was furnished with a new cassette vault. The interior furnishings were only installed in 1902. The interior is dominated by twelve monumental apostle statues.)http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8340/8227574220_9a61dbc05d_z.jpg

Near the church was a Christmas crib with real animals.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8064/8227571906_516026eb31_z.jpg

Then we saw a great fountain which is called "The marriage Caroussel"The "Marriage Carousel" (Ehekarussell) was erected in 1984, immediately in front of the White Tower. The work, created by Jürgen Weber, refers to the poem "Bitter-sweet Married Life" by Hans Sachs, who in drastic words described marriage from the first stages of ardent love via exhausting struggles, and right through to the death bed. The fountain's sculptures reflect this text in all its beauty and horror, while Hans Sachs is depicted dancing above a goat and a virginal beauty. When the fountain was put up in 1984, its drastic expression and the high overall costs triggered a stormy controversy in the City Council, in the media and in the population.http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8198/8227569752_bb6dc0ec92_z.jpg
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8059/8227567696_1006d3f56c_z.jpg

And at the end today we saw St. Lorenz Church ( (St. Lawrence’s Church ). The building of this basilica in high gothic style started between 1243 and 1315. The western façade between the two steeples is decorated with a rosette window and can be dated via the joint coats of arms of Charles IV and his third wife Anna von Schweidnitz who got married in 1353. Plans were changed during building, integrating the side chapels between the buttresses for the side aisles (1391) and the galleries above the side portals. Between 1439 and 1477, the vast late gothic hall chancel was added. During World War II, St. Lawrence's Church was badly damaged. Reconstruction started after 1945, directed by Julius Lincke (re-consecration on 10 August, 1952). The interior contains important works of art, including numerous epitaphs, stone and wooden sculptures, and most remarkably the tabernacle by Adam Kraft (1493/96), the Annunciation with corresponding chandelier by Veit Stoß (1517/18), the Deocarus Altar (1437) and the Krell Altar (1483). The pulpit is a neo-gothic work.

Hi Mommy, yesterday i became so happy when i saw my old friend Ape Apina from Finland arrived here. Do you remember -  we already met in Spain ?
I am sure we will have a good time together. :)
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8201/8231453335_5ffeef23ca_z.jpg
Afterwards Ape Apina slept a little bit and my host and i went to
Heilig-Geist-Spital (The Hospital of the Holy Spirit) The Hospice of the Holy Spirit (Heilig-Geist-Spital) was built between 1332 and 1339 and was a foundation endowed by the rich Patrician Konrad Groß ("Imperial Mayor") for old and needy people, then considered the largest foundation donated by any individual in the Empire before 1500.

After 1500, following designs by Hans Beheim the Elder, it was expanded over the river Pegnitz with the "Sude" and the "Bau". Still standing today: the houses for the preacher in the "Sude" and for the administrator, along the southern arm of the river Pegnitz, as well as the northern wall of the former Hospice Church with its polygonal roof turret (Hans-Sachs-Platz). The chapel which was not reconstructed was the place where the Crown Jewels of the Empire were stored between 1424 and 1796.

In the "Hanselhof", Nuremberg's oldest larger bronze cast sculpture can be seen (created around 1380, original kept in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum). The "Crucifixion Courtyard" has the main elements of Adam Kraft's "Calvary" (around 1506/08) and the table monuments of the donators Konrad Groß (died 1356) and Herdegen Valzner (died 1423).

Today, the Hospice of the Holy Spirit is a municipal senior citizens' home.

Hi Mom, yesterday we went to Bamberg by train as you can see on the picture. It was a nice comfortable train.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8489/8260564438_c08af0fd99_z.jpg
It was snowing so much. Actually Bamberg old city is unseco world heritage, but we had no chance to make photos because of the snow. Here is one with St. Martin´s Church.

And a last picture with "Christmas Tree of Hope". Everycone can donate money for a some project and get a christmas bulb to hang on the tree.

Today we have done a short visit on the Christkindlesmarket.
I am sure we will go again there. :)
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8063/8270633964_19744d9f4e_z.jpg
We saw the Frauenkirche ( Our Lady´s Church). Emperor Charles IV had the Church of Our Lady's (Frauenkirche) built here between 1355 and 1358 on the site of the destroyed synagogue of the former Jewish quarter (pogrom in 1349). It was the first Gothic hall church in Franconia, constructed as an Imperial court chapel with three aisles. Its builder was presumably Peter Parler, the master builder of the Prague St Vitus' Cathedral. In 1361, on the occasion of the baptism of the heir to the throne, the Imperial Crown Jewels
were displayed here for the first time. The "Männleinlaufen" ("Running Men" clockwork at noon), created in 1509 by Sebastian Lindenast and Georg Heuß, is reminiscent of the proclamation of the Golden Bull of 1356: seven electors pay homage to Emperor Charles IV sitting on the throne. The main altar is the "Tucher Altar" which was the high altar in the Augustine Church up until 1487. The epitaphs, most of which are from the Dominican's and the Augustine's churches, include works by Adam Kraft (Peringsdörfer epitaph) and by Michael Wolgemut. In 1816, the Church of Our Lady's was given to Nuremberg's Catholic congregation.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8490/8269564605_5d74eb2b58_z.jpg

and then we saw Schöner Brunner ( Beautiful Fountain ).
Erected between 1389 and 1396 by the builder and stonemason, Heinrich Beheim, the 19-metre stone pyramid rises from the octagonal basin like a Gothic steeple top, narrowing in three steps, right to the top finial. Forty stone figures are arranged in three rows, all of them important 14th century sculptures representing the world-view of the Holy Roman Empire: in the bottom row allegorical figures symbolising Philosophy and the Free Arts, in the middle row the evangelists and Latin Church Fathers, in the third row the seven electors and nine heroes, at the very top Moses and the seven prophets.

The protective railing surrounding the fountain's basin was forged in 1587 by Paulus Kühn from Augsburg. In 1902, it was repaired by Albert Leipold and then furnished with the well-known ring that may be turned. Only fragments remain of the soft sandstone figures of the original fountain, and they are kept in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum. Between 1897 and 1902 the sandstone figures were replaced by shell lime ones.

At host´s home we got the ginger bread heart to eat  which we bought on the Christkindles market.

Hey Mum.

Today I arrived at Bochum. Host mum brought my envelope into the living room where the other TV’s were waiting for me. I could hear their voices from outside the envelope. I was so excited to meet the other TV’s. Then finally the envelope was opened and I could see light, then the next thing I could see was the head of a small blue monster called Cookie monster.

Today we were sitting on the sofa when the doorbell was ringing. We were wondering who will be there. Snowball jumped from the sofa to open the door.
She told us that she could hear that someone was coming up the stairs and then she could see our new guest. It was Cassiopeia the turtle.

Now there is only one TV missing for the trip to Las Vegas.

P.S. I should learn to drive a car. I think it could be very useful for the future. I hope Cassiopeia could tell me how to drive.

Hello Mum.

Today was a happy and also a little sad day. When Host mum came home she brought a small packet with her.
We sat around the packet and were wondering what could be inside.

Tomorrow we will finally fly to Las Vegas. Today we were helping our host parents to pack the bags for our trip. Everything fits into the bags, but luckily we don’t fly inside the bags.

When everything was ready we sat around the netbook and looked at some pictures Snowball had made in Las Vegas during their trip in summer last year.

Good morning Mum.

Today we were finally flying to Las Vegas. Very early in the morning we flew from Düsseldorf to London. This was a short fly from just an hour, but in London we had to change the terminal. We took a bus from terminal 1 to terminal 5.

When we arrived at terminal 5 we had two hours to wait till our next flight to New York started. We used the time to look around the terminal.

Our flight to New York took nine hours. During the flight I watched out of the window and looked at the landscape under us.

We haven’t got much time at the New York airport, because we had to check out and in completely to get to our next plane. It was a little bit stressful but we made it in time.
The flight to Las Vegas took another six hours.

Yeah mum, we finally arrived at Las Vegas, after our 21 hour trip. I am very happy that we are here but I am too tired to enjoy it. But I think after a lot of sleep I could enjoy it.

Good morning mum.

I sent you Greetings from the sunny Las Vegas. Behind me you can see the “New York New York” hotel. I think it looks really cool.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w503/Jasmin_Ogermann/tag%201%20las%20vegas/DSCN0212600x450_zps47fe0650.jpg

Today we were visiting the MOB attraction. It is an exhibition about the mafia in Las Vegas, inside the Tropicana hotel. We learned a lot of interesting things about the old mafia and saw cool stuff that belongs to that time. But the best thing was that we met some “real” mafia gangsters who gave us missions that we had to fulfill.

Hey Mum.

After our breakfast we were going to the Bellagio hotel to have a look at the botanical garden, which is specially decorated for the Chinese New Year, which is celebrated everywhere here in Vegas.
At the entrance of the garden we were welcomed by a giant snake which is 9 feet tall and is constructed of 5,000 handmade silk scales. In the Chinese Zodiac 2013 is the Year of the Snake. Individuals born in the Year of the Snake are known to be keen, cunning, intelligent and wise. If you happen to be a Snake, you could look forward to a year of good fortune.

I like this Chinese Money Tree. It is a symbol to bring good fortune to the Chinese while still living and in the after-life used to guide spirits to heaven and provide wealth while there. The meaning handed down from ancient Chinese legend is that a person shall grow wealthy through hard work and relying on ones own sweat and blood.

This Chinese Calligraphy is called “Fu” which carries the meaning of Blessing, Happiness and Good Fortune.

In the garden we saw a lot of other cool flowers and decorations.

Hello Mum.

Today we visited Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat inside the Mirage hotel. The dolphins were really cool and we could watch how they were fed.

From the dolphin habitat we entered the secret garden. I have never seen white tigers and lions before, that was really special. But it was a little bit sad that they have such small compounds.

The weather was better than the last days so we planned to take a walk outside. We visited a small park near our home.

Happy Easter Mum.

Today the weather was so nice that we went outside to search some spring flowers and with some luck the Easter bunny ;)
Look I really found some flowers and some Easter eggs.

While we were walking around we saw a small playground. We took the chance and played a bit.

When we got back home, we noticed that the Easter bunny was here and that he was hiding some Easter eggs into the living room. We were really good in searching and at the end we had found a lot of eggs.
