I love to climb trees !
Today, I climbed the flame tree in front of my house. It was easy to climb up, but very difficult to climb down. In the end, I jumped in my mentor's arms. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 15, 2011, 10:24 am |
I forgot to introduce myself : I live in Kissidougou with my mentor poissonrouge and the cat Fansidar.
My house used to be a school, but it is only a house now. Look at the photo : yes, there is a closet outside... A friend of poissonrouge moved, and she could not take this closet with her. So she let it here, and one day it will be given to someone else. It can stay outside, because it will not rain for the next four months. And the objects inside are things poissonrouge does not want any more. She is waiting that someone says "Oh, why is this outside ? If I had one, I would put it inside !" And this person will receive the object. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 15, 2011, 2:47 pm |
I just helped poissonrouge to change the wick of her petrol fridge.
Yes, a petrol fridge ! Even if it is quite a big town, there is no electricity in Kissidougou. Poissonrouge has a solar panel, but it is enough for a computer, not for a fridge ! You need all these things to change a wick, plus a lot of patience. Now, I smell like petrol |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 16, 2011, 4:05 pm |
Today, I went to work with poissonrouge, on her motorbike !
On Tuesday, she teaches french to adults. She made a vocabulary test today. I did not know any of the words she asked... You can see the photo of the school house. Yes, it is a church ! There are no tables, but there is a blackboard inside, and many benches. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 17, 2011, 4:46 pm |
This morning, I helped poissonrouge wash the solar panels. During dry season, they have to be washed once a week, because although it is the season of sun, it is the season of dust, sand and ashes too. One of the two solar panels does not work any more, but poissonrouge says it will be replaced next month. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 19, 2011, 2:59 pm |
Now is the time for oranges !
In Guinea, oranges are not orange, they are green, or sometimes yellow. Thoses oranges are ready to welcome new toy voyagers : Roary and Das Schweinchen. They should arrive here in a few hours. I can't wait to meet them ! |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 20, 2011, 6:11 pm |
I am not the only toy voyager any more here ! Roary and Das Schweinchen arrived yesterday, with Simba, who is not a toy voyager, but surely a great voyager anyway.
First thing in the morning : we swallowed our anti-malaria pills. Then, we went for a walk in the bush. It was a nice day. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 21, 2011, 4:43 pm |
Today, we did a big walk. It went up and up and up and up. Finally, we discovered the town of Yendè from above. A very nice view. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 22, 2011, 5:58 pm |
Here is a pit, where you can find water for drinking (better boil it before), taking a shower, washing your clothes or your house, water the plants... |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 23, 2011, 3:45 pm |
Today, a very good car was needed, to go deep in the bush. There, we saw a wonderful waterfall. I did not fall in the water, but I tasted it : it was quite cold. There is a lot of water everywhere in Guinea. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 24, 2011, 3:34 pm |
I helped build a little door for the cat Fansidar. Fansidar learnt quick how to enter, but still has problems finding the way out.
Then, I cooked something in the solar oven. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 25, 2011, 4:12 pm |
Happy Christmas !
Today, we first noticed that there was tap water ! A good thing on a celebration day. Then, we received new clothes, like everyone for Christmas. After that, someone told us that there was diesel oil in town. We hurried, but we were too late : the truck just before us received the last drops. So we went to church (late...). There was a lot of singing, and then the pastor spoke about the birth of Jesus, and then we ate a lot of rice all together : that is 747 people. Next week, I will probably not be online : we are travelling in an area without Internet. So have a happy new year ! |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 28, 2011, 4:47 pm |
We did not make it... the car had a breakdown after a few kilometers, and we had to head back home. It is repaired now, and we will try again tomorrow. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 28, 2011, 5:03 pm |
I am in Macenta now ! There are banana trees in Kissidougou too, but I had fun to play in this one. |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 28, 2011, 5:25 pm |
In the morning, we visited a hospital. I especially liked the place where protesis are made.
Then, we drove to N'Zao : another hospital, and a nice place to stay for a holiday. And very practical, because tomorrow, we are going south, to... you'll see ! |
poissonrouge Posted Dec 29, 2011, 5:11 pm |
We did it !!! We looked for chimpanzees, and we found them ! I don't have a photo of me with the chimpanzees, but here is one poissonrouge should not have taken : with the forbidden flash... it was an accident. But the monkey did not take notice.
It was fantastic. We walked in the forest, then we heard some noise (chimpanzees are not quiet at all, they are always chatting or arguing), and finally we saw some black fur. We saw them eating, and scratching, and jumping, and running, we saw entire families... It was a great, great, great day ! |
poissonrouge Posted Jan 2, 2012, 3:50 pm |
Coconut ! I love coconut ! I hope there will be coconuts in Germany, where I will soon go. |
poissonrouge Posted Jan 2, 2012, 3:53 pm |
Back in Macenta ! |
poissonrouge Posted Jan 2, 2012, 4:02 pm |
Guinea is a nice country ! I am completely sure of that when I travel. The landscapes today were great. Even the place where the good road ends and the bad roads begins ! |
poissonrouge Posted Jan 3, 2012, 3:03 pm |
Guess what it is ! Something dried, of course, but if you want to be know exactly what, and why we are drying these, ask Das Schweinchen and Roary. |
poissonrouge Posted Jan 4, 2012, 4:00 pm |
Haha, look at what we received ! These can still be useful to someone here. |
poissonrouge Posted Jan 6, 2012, 2:08 pm |
Today was my last day in Kissidougou, with the cat Fansidar (doctors always say it is a strange name for a cat, I don't know why). He licked me to say goodbye ! |
poissonrouge Posted Jan 6, 2012, 2:31 pm |
I am gone ! On my way to discover another continent than Africa ! I will go to Switzerland first, with poissonrouge's sister, and then to Germany, with Yosemite. |

Hey, my dear Mummy at home in Africa!
I savely arrived in Lichtenfels. Woooooooooow, it is really cold here! Thank god I was welcomed very warmly by a few nice TVs! Hey, all my friends in Africa!
Here I am again! What a great first day in Lichtenfels! Hostmum said she needed my help. OKKKKkkkkkk.... She said, she must go shopping and I should go with her. O yes, I like it! At first I watched the exotic fruits. Then we bought Ladyfingers (Löffelbiskuit) and cacao. I saw a coconut liqueur, but hostmum said, we don´t need it BUT: the other ingredients are for my Tiramisu!!!! After that we went sightseeing with Leoshek and _Lilly_. We studied the map of the historic city center. I saw the emblem of the city. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, 2 lights and a stone! This is the sign for Lichten-fels! We cycled to the next point of interest, the museum. Because of the sunny weather we didn´t go in, but saw another interesting building, the old city gate. There are 3 cannonballs in the wall, to remind of the war in 1553. So much information! I will dream tonight of buildings... and of Tiramisu Kisses to Africa! Wolley |
Yosemite Posted Feb 4, 2012, 7:32 pm |

Hey, my dear Mummy and all that read this log!
I´ve been fullfilling my first live mission! Hostmum helped me cooking a Tiramisu. At first we put all the ingredients on the table. Then I dipped the ladyfingers in a mixture of coffee and amaretto ( a liqueur of almonds). The ladyfingers must be layed in a mold. Then we had to mix curd, sugar, cream and amaretto. This cream comes on the ladyfingers. I tasted... hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm yummiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeee Cacao was the last layer on top of the tiramisu. (I napped a ladyfinger ) Then I had to wait. I made a tissue around my neck. And waited My new friends waited with me. Oooooooooo it looks sooooo fine! Then hostmum said we waited long enough. We tasted! ooooooooo how fine a lifemission can taste! I would like to send you a piece of Tiramisu, dear Mummy! Love you, your Wolley |

Hey, Mummy!
Today I saw an very old german town! We visited Bamberg, a world heritage. It has a nice, historic city center and there is much to see! Our first stop was at the fountain, the Bambergians call "Gabelmo". It is a fountain with a neptue ontop. Then we had a nice view over the river Regnitz. There is a historic crane and in the background you can see the church of St. Michael. Our last station was the historic town hall. It was built in the middle of the river, crazy On the left side of the building you can see realistic paintings. When you look first you think it´s real, but is is an illusion! Wow,so much culture! Love you, Mummy! Kiss, your Wolley |

Hey all folks at home in Africa!
Yesterday we got visitors! At first an african compatriot arrived! The little Billy from South Africa and after that the famous Dr.Kröbner came to us with all his TVs! So we were unbelievably 16 TVs at home! I catched Dr.Kröbner in a calm moment and talked to him about my home country. He was very interested and a good listener. I like him very much! Mummy, I hope you are well! I miss you! Your Wolley |

Dear Mummy!
I was very glad to get a mail by you! Thank you, its a good feeling to know that you think of me! Now spring starts in Germany! Today we were in our hosts`garden! It is a pretty meadow with a lot of trees. Hostdad explained that he has a little sequoia farm! We looked at the little trees and wanted to know if they survived the hard and cold winter in Germany. Of course, most of them did! Great! But they needed water. So I helped to water them with the watering pot. On our walk through the garden we found pretty little crocusses, typical spring flowers. So much fresh air made us weary and we took a short nap in the warm sun. The sun reminds me of you, my dear Mummy! Yours in love, Wolley |

Hi there, it´s me again!
Today we made a hiking trip to the Staffelberg. We walked the whole way by foot. Ok, our hosts walked by foot, we sat comfortable in the backpack It was a pretty sunday, we had a good view over the valley. We saw the monastry Banz at the other side. On top of the mountain we had lunch in the restaurant and I tasted two typical franconian Bratwurst with sauerkraut. It is crazy, you go on a mountain just to see how pretty the land under you is On our way back we visited the famous pilgrim church Vierzehnheiligen. Is is very pretty and behind the church is a very famous brewery. We tasted some beer. It is typical for the region, it is a dark beer. Back in Lichtenfels there was an exhibition where you could watch cars and motorbikes. I found that very crazy camouflage motor scooter, and I made this photo exspecially for you Lots of Love, Wolley |

I wish you a happy easter! Today hostmum said we should come altogether to the garden, she saw a bunny with a big basket and sweets inside. Maybe he concealed some coloured eggs for us? And really, I found a purple chocolate bunny on a tree!!! I climbed up (hard work) and got it! Altogether we found a whole basket of sweets in the garden, maybe there was really the easter bunny in our garden??? Yours, Wolley |

Hello, Mummy!
Today I accompanied Wavy Gravy and hostmum to Sonneberg, a little town near to Lichtenfels. It is called "Toy City" because there were many toy factories. In the hall were many interesting boothes. There was one with a pyramid of bears! I watched the table with the members of the contest. Wow, very pretty bears! I like the bear who plays several instruments himself most On another booth we found a little form! This reminds me of good old times, when I lived at the school. I was the teacher and Wavy Gravy one of my pupils. I talked about my interesting life in Africa! On our way back to the station we passed a statue. It shows a girl who plays with toy blocks... and two toyvoyagers! Love you, Mummy! Yours, Wolley |

I had a great idea! We could make a rain dance! I explained what we should do. At first: build a circle Second: Dance to the left Third: Dance to the right Fourth: pot with coal in the middle Fifth: Fire the coal Sixth: resin and other stuff on the coal And: look what happened: It started to rain! And the rain goes on We should try this in Africa, too! Love you! Wolley |

Hello, Mummy!
Today we made a trip to Nueremberg. We travelled comfortable in hostmum´s bag In the train we got off and read some interesting science magazine. In the railway station of Nueremberg there is a very pretty mosaic at the wall, a lady with a dog I like it very much! Then we started sightseeing: a big cathedral, called Lorenzkirche, a really bif nut cracker in front of a shop for christmas stuff. Then we needed a rest on the bridge across the river Pegnitz. On our way we saw some boothes, one with african drums! Oh Mummy, believe me, I thought for you exspecially in this moment! But no time to worry, we went off to the Hauptmarkt. The place where the most famous and oldest christmas market in the world takes place in December. What a nice day in a nice city! Miss you, Wolley |

Hello, Mummy!
We were on holidays! We visited the capitol of Germany, Berlin. It was hostmum´s and of course my first trip to this big town. So we wanted to see the most famous buildings there. Best way to explore the city center of Berlin is to make a boat trip in the river Spree. There we saw the new Chancellery of Germany (it looks like a big washing machine ) and the old building, called Reichtstag, that houses the german parliament. This building was destroyed in world war II and got in the 1990th a new dome made from glass. Very big and very impressing! Maybe I will come back one time! Love you, Mummy! Wolley |

Hello, Mummy!
On our way back to Lichtenfels we stopped in Lichtenstein to explore the Mini world. There are several sight in scale 1:25. A perfect size to make great photos and a chance to see the whole world in one hour! At first the castle of Sanssouci near Berlin. It is called the "prussian Versailles" and a world heritage. It was built in the style of Rokkoko in the 18th century. You see us in the garden. In the next picture there is the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and in the background the Siegessäule "Victory column". Both are very famous sights in Berlin. The Brandenburg Gate was once the border between west and east. But now these times gone by Changing the continent! I looked at the Taj Mahal in India. In originally size it is 100m x 100m! Go east once more! See the great wall in China! Isn´t it crazy, it is unbelievable 21.000 km long!!! The Sydney Opera House in Australia is one more world heritage. It´s architekture symbolizes sails in the wind. It is a phantastical building! Last but not least I came back to Africa! I found a small african village. I called if there is anybody at home, but got no answer So I call you, Mummy! I hope you are fine and want to say: I LOVE YOU!!! Yours, Wolley |

First we learnd food-words like eggs (Äer) or potato (Grumbern). Then animals: Hua, that means chicken or hen. Gögger: cock And Fannys favorit word because she is one: Bätzer - sheep. Things: Emer = a pail Lädder = ladder I was able to wipe the blackboard. Then we learnd some other words like... Simbl (idiot, jerk) Towd (godfather) Wengert (vineyard) I've taken notes. The lesson had just endet when Lumpi came to visit us. He is the dachshund from the neightbours. It was a great day! Bye, Wolley |

Then grind the bread-spice. 3 kinds of flour: rye flour wheat-wholemeal-flour spelled flour Add the bread-spice and sunflower seeds. Then water... and vinegar. Look! The yeast has fermented. Mix everything. Then knead... ...and knead... ... and knead. Done! Put in a bowl.... blanket. Now we have to wait an hour. We are curious. Look! The dough has doubled! And then knead again. Now it looks like a bread. It smells great! In the oven for an hour. Done! It smells gorgeous! With butter the bread tastes fantastic! It was a wonderful day! Bye, Wolley |

Hello mum!
I've harvested pumpkins few weeks ago. Do you remember? Today we cooked with one of them! I made pumpkin-lasagne! First I wash the pumpkin. I cut the pumpkin. A pumpkin is very hard so we helped cut together. Then I steam the pumpkin. After 25 minutes the pumkin is done. I cut onions. Then I mix the onions with soure cream and cheese spread. I give the half in a beaker and add vegetable stock, thyme and a little bit of olive oil. I puree all. Then I stack the lasagne. In the oven for 30 minutes. Yummie! Love you! Bye! Wolley |

Hello! Today is the 3rd Sunday of Advent and we bake Christmas cookies! First we made nut cookies. I crack and grind the walnuts. Butter, sugar and eggs. Flour and the walnuts. The dough in clingfilm and then in the refirgerator for an hour. In the meantime we weigh us. After an hour the dough in the mincer. Bake for 10 minutes. Then melt chocolate... ... and place on the cookies. Done! Next we make "Hildas", cookies filled with rosehip jam. I made the dough with butter, eggs, sugar and flavour. The dough in clingfilm and then in the refirgerator for an hour. We need cookie cutter. Vassily and I roll out the dough. I cut moons. Bake for 10 minutes. Then I give rosehip jam on a cookie... ... and place another on it. Done! Finally we make "Lucias", the half with raspberry jam. For the dought we mix butter, sugar, vanilla pudding powder and flavour. I design the cookie with a fork. Then we maked cookies with raspberry jam filling. Bake for 15 minutes. Puh! We were all very diligent! But it was a lot of fun! Wolley |

The theater took a long time... 2h 30 min.! After the theater we go to an Indian restaurant and eat very delicious things. It was a very nice evening! Kiss, Wolley |

There were Chinese Fondue with chicken and dips. For dessert we have ice that looks like a gingerbread hous. Yummy! Then I played with Illias, a 4 year old boy from the host-friend. That was fun! Finally it was time! Midnight! I wish you all the best in 2013! Love, Wolley |

Hello mum,
I reached Switzerland on a very cold day. 7 degrees below zero, brrr. A little shy, I looked in my new home. From above I could hear voices and laughter. I climbed a small cabinet and saw many funny TV's sitting in a comfortable basket. They greeted me kindly and called for host mum. She took me into the kitchen, and because I was so hungry I got a big sausage, a very big sausage. After I had eaten the sausage, I was very tired. I had no long journey but because I wanted miss anything, I did not sleep very much. It was too exciting. So I curled up on a cozy blanket and slept until evening. For dinner we had a hot soup that had boiled the TV's. Just the right on such a cold day. Best regards from your happy Wolley |

Yoohoo mum,
Today I helped Jasper to bake cakes. Carrot cake. I have carefully read the recipe to not make wrong anything. First I grated carrots. Then I beat the eggs and sugar until fluffy. I added the carrots and nuts. I added beaten egg whites and flour and baking powder and mix gently. I could lick the blenders. I filled the dough in cake tins and baked for 50 minutes. Later, I decorated the cakes with powdered sugar icing and marzipan carrots. They look so delicious. One of the cake is a gift and the other I enjoy. OK, I'll share. That's it for today, love you mum. Wolley |

Hello mum,
the weather is going crazy. On Wednesday the sun was shining (as host mum had to work) and it was 14 degrees. Then we had bucketfuls of rain and storm. This morning it started to snow again. Within ten minutes everything was white. No chance to go outside. And then the bad luck, host mum has a torn ligament in the foot. Dolivia, she is a pharmacy TV gives us instructions on how we have to maintain host mum. We'll get her back on her feet. On both feet. Until then Wolley |

Hello mum,
Last night we had a small farewell party with great pizza. Once again we had to say goodbye to grown fond friends. Lancel travels to China and Nils visits the U.S.. The weather here makes them a little easier to say goodbye. It's horrible, storm, rain and snow. Everything except sun. We gave both a group hug and wished them a safe journey. One last look and a bye and then starts their long journey and we are waiting for the next guests. See you mum, love you, Wolley |
Jasper Posted Feb 6, 2013, 6:35 pm |
Hi mum,
Last night we bet that we are going to have Wednesday's weather. We won. Wednesday's weather means good weather in the morning when host mum works and rain, snow, storm or doomsday when she comes home. Every Wednesday, the same game. But today, something was different. Host mum brought an envelope. We are all long enough TV's to know what that means. A new guest has arrived. Host mum opened the envelope. Curious, we stuck our noses into it. A small, green turtle looked towards us a little bit shy. Cosily the turtle climbed out and introduced himself. Shakespeare is his name and he brought gummy bears as greeting gift. I think he's a nice guy and we will have fun together. Greetings home Wolley |
Jasper Posted Feb 10, 2013, 6:35 pm |
Hello to all the loved ones at home,
Finally, after many days of bad weather, the sun is shining today. Host mum immediately grabbed us and we went on a winter walk. First we drove a short distance by car. But then we enjoyed the sun, the fresh air and the beautiful view. We trudged through the snow (80 cm. High) over small bridges, through narrow gorges and tunnels with huge icicles. We rested on the bench, which could be seen in the deep snow barely. I wished we could have done together. Enjoy the pictures as I have enjoyed the walk. I think of you. Wolley P.S. I met today real hens. I think one of my Life missons is fulfilled, or? |

Hi mommy,
Yesterday we celebrated Lola's birthday. We sang happy birthday and wish her all the best. Then there was chocolate and sweets. Today was beautiful weather. Sun much as you wanted. The best thing was, host mum did not have to work and we could take a winter walk. We walked up and down through the glistening snow. The sky was blue, the sun was shining, what more could you want? An adventure! On our way we saw the sign to the waterfall. The road, really just a path is a little dangerous. Narrow, steep and icy in the winter. We begged so much until host mum gave her ok. First she checked the phone connection. (In case we need the fire brigade or the helicopter to get us out.) Then it went off. From time to time our heart beat a little faster. And then we saw the waterfall is an icefall now. Everything around him was covered with ice. It looked great. That was our way back. Exhausting, but we did it. Love you mommy Wolley |
Jasper Posted Feb 19, 2013, 7:18 pm |
Hello mum,
watch our latest guest. Such a sweet, little sheep. And so much candy. We love her. The sheep and the sweets. What did you think. Sweet dreams Wolley |

Dear Mommy,
Today, a new envelope has arrived. When Jasper opened it, a tiger jumped out with a loud roar. The two little ones (Lille and Stripes) hid behind me fearfully and I had to growl. The tiger told us he roared for joy after a long, long journey finally be out of this envelope. We welcomed him kindly and then looked at his presents. He seems to be quite nice but I'll keep an eye on. I am the protector of the little ones. Best regards from Wolley, the guard dog. P.S. Can't go outside. It's snowing for days. |

Hi mommy,
what a boring week. Jasper had to work full time, the weather was bad (two weeks with no sun, no more snow, but fog and rain) and host dad was sick. But yesterday we had a lot of fun. We celebrated Lille's birthday. She got a huge cake, a big lollipop and a little sheep. All kissed and hugged her and wished her all the best. Then she blew out the candle and cut the cake. It was great fun. I hope that next week things will get better. Love you mommy, Wolley |

A dear Hello back home,
after felt like eternity we could go outside today. Jasper packed us into her big bag and we drove to St. Gallen, the capital of the canton. St.Gallen is not really big (74000 inhabitants) but is known for its embroidery. The university is one of the leading business schools in Europe and the Convent of the monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The first thing we saw was the red square. Yes, not only Moscow has a red square, and this place is really red, Oh, oh, we forgot the turtle. Again pose with turtle. it is a gift from a reputable bank to the city. On our way to the old town we saw the synagogue of the Jewish community. Then we admired the cathedral and the many beautiful old houses. Then we went to the farmers market. There we were immediately hungry, with all these delicacies. We bought some fruit and mushrooms, and were on our way home. Best wishes and much love Your Wolley |

Hello mum,
I hope you are well. Today we are preparing another farewell party. Dolivia will leave us and go to Greece. With our new Shopping Cart (Jasper brought it last week) we plundered all the cupboards and found much useful for a party. To reach the potato chips was a bit difficult but your Wolley with his long nose made it. We had almost everything together, just the popcorn was still missing. Fresh, warm popcorn tastes wonderful. We made one last group photo, and hugged our friend. Bye bye Dolivia have a lot of fun, much more adventure and a safe journey. I hug you too mum Your Wolley What we did not know at this point - Rico will leave us also. He travels to Greece, to the same host as Dolivia. We also hugged him and wished him a good trip. Then they both slipped into the envelope and started their journey. |

Hello mum,
As Jasper came home from work today, she packed us into her bag and off we went. Not five minutes later, she opened the bag and sunshine streamed in. We saw a small path that looked pretty beat from all the snow. But on closer inspection we found things that make hope for spring. The weather was beautiful but the wind is still cold and the snow is still near. We saw a really old apple tree with mistletoe. Huge, felled trees and snowdrops. I met a dog, he was not really friendly. We saw bees that were battling for first flowers. (You can not see so well but look right in front of my nose.) And then we took a sunbath. It felt so good. In the hope of more sun I send you greetings Wolley |
Jasper Posted Mar 27, 2013, 12:58 pm |
Hello mum,
we are all pretty frustrated. After last week, it looked a bit like spring, winter reigns again. Jasper will be crazy, slowly but surely. Yesterday we tried to bring some spring mood in the house. Jasper bought everything that looked like Easter and warm weather, and we built and decorated it into a indoor garden. I think we succeeded. Now we all look forward to Easter, no matter what the weather is. We can not change anyway. Love you mum Wolley |
Jasper Posted Mar 30, 2013, 1:09 pm |
Hi mum,
I have a job. The next seven days I am in charge of nine chickens. A neighbor of Jasper (the chickens belong to him) is on vacation. Normally Jasper takes care to the chicken then. But this time I will do it. In order to be quickly friends with the chicken, Jasper told me a secret. They love pasta. So I cooked pasta. Then we went to the hen house. I fed the hens. They love pasta really. Then I got the eggs from the nests. One last look, everything ok. Bye bye chicken until tomorrow. It was so much fun. Bye mum, Wolley |

Happy Easter mum!
although it looks more like Christmas. Due to bad weather (snow again) we must search the Easter Bunny in the apartment. We searched long and found plenty. Everywhere chocolate bunnies, eggs and other sweets were hidden. We needed our shopping cart to transport everything. Later, we had a delicious breakfast. I wish you a nice day, your Wolley |
Jasper Posted Apr 10, 2013, 5:40 pm |
Hello mum,
we can take pictures again. Right after Easter, the cat had thrown the camera from the table. She was broken. Not that you had missed something. The weather was as usual - bad. Jasper had bought us a small bench so that we can enjoy the sun on the balcony. What sun? We now sit in the dining room under the Easter tree. He gets small leaves. Feels like spring. Today we say goodbye to Lille. She will travel to Germany. We cuddled the little sheep and wished her a good trip - and better weather. For the weekend, the weather forecast is good. Jasper has promised us, we use it for a trip. We'll see. Bye mum Wolley |
Jasper Posted Apr 14, 2013, 5:03 pm |
Hello,
Today a new TV arrived. Jasper brought a heavy package and we were very excited to see what or who is in it. The first thing was a postcard, then came sweets and then a bunch of money. The last climbed out a small panda bear. We greeted her warmly and introduced ourselves. Her name is Lilo and she is from Germany. We will definitely have lots of fun together. Love you mum, Wolley |
Jasper Posted Apr 15, 2013, 7:32 pm |
Hi Mummy,
Yesterday the weather was wonderful. Therefore Jasper decided we take a trip. After a short drive we arrived at the Walter Zoo in Gossau. It's not a big zoo but you can feed many animals and be close with them. The first thing I met Lama. Host dad and I have fed. They do not spit on me. Then I saw a zebra, I loved this nose. I met an ostrich, he cuddled with me. I saw small monkeys and an alligator. A tiger was very close. Then we came to the camels. We fed them and I told Esther (which is the name of the camel lady) my heart's desire. A few minutes later, I was the happiest dog in the world. I was allowed to ride on Esther. A Life mission is fulfilled. At home I snuggled with Runa and told her about my adventure. Mummy, I had such a happy day. your Wolley |

Hi mum,
Two days ago I was sitting on the balcony in the sun. We had 23 degrees and enjoyed the spring to the fullest. When I woke up this morning and looked out the window, everything was white, I could not believe it. Overnight it had snowed again, 10 cm. It's so cold. Never ends this winter? Kind regards from a frustrated Wolley |
Jasper Posted Apr 23, 2013, 8:43 pm |
Love mom
first of all, happy birthday a big hug and a thousand kisses from your Wolley. And then the latest, tomorrow I'll go into holidays to France. It's just a short break but we will visit the Alsace. Fine wines, delicious food and hopefully nice weather. The suitcase is packed, it can go off. Miss and love you Wolley |
Jasper Posted Apr 28, 2013, 11:39 am |
Hello mum,
We are back from wonderful short holiday. With Jasper and her daughter we explored the "Route de Vin" (wine route) in Alsace. A paradise for wine lovers, gourmet and storks. We started with best weather and looked gorgeous little wine villages. In Ribeauvillé we made the first break and tried Riesling d'alsace. Excellent. We saw a stork's nest on an old tower and many storks in the gift shop. On a tour of the city we discovered many beautiful old houses, shops and fun artwork. And vineyards, where you look. Then we drove to our hotel in Rosheim. This small wine village near Strasbourg has four gates. One of them is called Zittglöckle (time bell) because it has a clock. The old well had originally three buckets to fetch water upward. This was our hotel. Jasper forgot to take a picture but we took a little postcard on which it is seen. This was the view from our balcony in the garden with the magnificent weeping willow. That was our first day. We were curious what would bring the other day. Wolley |
Jasper Posted Apr 29, 2013, 10:28 pm |
Hi, all at home,
the second day of our holiday we spent in Strasburg. All were pretty tired when Jasper woke us up, but the nice weather lured us outside. Arrived in Strasburg we walked to the cathedral along the Ill River. We marveled at an old carousel. Then we saw the cathedral. It is really impressive. Strasbourg Cathedral or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg (French: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg, German: Notre Dame Cathedral in Strasbourg), also known as Strasbourg Minster, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Strasbourg, Alsace, France. At 142 meters (466 feet), it was the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874, When it was surpassed by St. Nikolai's Church, Hamburg. Today it is the sixth-tallest church in the world and the highest still-standing structure Entirely built in the Middle Ages. The cathedral is visible far across the plains of Alsace and can be seen from as far off as the Vosges Mountains or the Black Forest on the other side of the Rhine. Sandstone from the Vosges used in construction gives the cathedral its characteristic pink hue. The Place de la Republique, it was not far. Colorful spring flowers and the War Memorial were there to see. The Palais du Rhin is also there. Then we saw the Church of Saint Paul. We walked on the Ill river to the Pont Couvert (covered bridge) and also saw there this towers. One of them is called hangman tower. We could imagine what happened there before. On our way home we saw this funny house. It is called "the worm hole" Arrived at the hotel we were very exhausted. We slept a little but not too long because it was a full moon and we absolutely had to see. Bye for today Wolley |
Jasper Posted May 1, 2013, 6:32 pm |
Hi mum,
after we had admired the full moon enough, we enjoyed another bottle of wine and then fell into a deep sleep. The next day was like our heads - cloudy. On the way to our next destination we stopped often and let the wind blow us around the nose. And again, as far as one could see vineyards. Then we reached Haut-Königsbourg, a 900-year old fortress. A truly impressive building. After a break and delicious food, we drove to our hotel to Riquewihr. Unfortunately it started to rain heavily. Jasper had to decide - Camera or umbrella. She opted for the umbrella. So we spent the rest of the day and the journey home into Jasper's bag. A little wet, tired but happy about the nice days. Wish you sweet dreams Wolley |
Jasper Posted May 10, 2013, 8:00 pm |
Hello mum,
Last weekend Jasper promised a special trip for Thursday, when the weather is good - really good. So we kept our fingers crossed for the whole week, but the weather forecast was not promising. Host dad decided: We try. Thursday: Get up 5 clock in the morning, departure 1 hour later. Much too early for TV's. Therefore, we slept on during the car ride. As Jasper woke us the next time we were in Interlaken train station. The ticket showed us: We travel to the Jungfraujoch. To the highest train station in Europe. The first train took us to Grindelwald at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the well-known mountains in the Bernese Oberland. There, we changed the train to Kleine Scheidegg, the starting point for the trekkers climbing the Eiger North Face. Here you see this notorious mountain wall, which has so many climbers cost their lives. Next, we boarded the red train to the Jungfraujoch. This train is required in addition to the normal rails a gear to overcome the steep climbs. As the train travels most of the time in tunnels, there are several breakpoints on the line with windows. From there you can admire famous places. Our first stop, and also the last outside of the tunnel, was Eigergletscher. From the once mighty glacier is not much left. The next stop was Eigerwand. The view from the middle of the Eiger North Wall was breathtaking. The last stop is called Eismeer. Here you can see the glacier crashes between Eiger and Mönch. Then we reached the highest station in Europe. 3454 meters above sea level. It was too dark to make pictures. We took the elevator to the Sphinx. 117 meters in 26 seconds. The Sphinx is a research station and an observatory. In 1996, the observation deck was opened. On clear days one has a fantastic view. This mountain is called Mönch and is 4107 meters (13475ft.) high. This is the Sphinx. It was very stormy, you can see fly my ears. Through this wind changed fog, clouds and a clear view in seconds - unbelievable. Then we took a walk on the Aletsch Glacier. This glacier is the largest of the Alps in terms of area and almost 23 kilometers long. The ice flows at a speed of 180 meters per year towards the Rhone. On Konkordiaplatz the ice thickness is about 900 meters. We were not allowed to leave the path of the glacier under any circumstances. Right and left there are deep crevasses - life threatening. But the outlook was fantastic. This is the Jungfraujoch. If you look closely, you see at the top the Sphinx - quite small they stuck to the rock. This is a big glacier demolition. Then we marveled at various exhibitions and the Ice Palace. Can you imagine that they need to cool down these halls, which consist only of ice at minus 3 degrees? Because of the body heat of the many tourists. Then it was time for the return journey. Everyone was tired and fell asleep on the train - we also. In Kleine Scheidegg we changed train, took one last look at the Eiger and Jungfraujochbahn and went on to Wengen. This place is famous because of the Lauberhorn downhill skiing. We were looking for the famous ski run - but without snow? We have not found. The rest of the way we slept in Jasper's bag. We were all very tired - but what an adventure. with love, Wolley |

Hello mum,
when I woke up this morning, I saw a small hippo sitting on our little bench and have breakfast. Jasper introduced us. Ismaya is the name of the hippo and he comes from Bali, Indonesia. It rattles with the teeth because it is so cold here. This morning it was 7 degrees. Then Ismaya showed us his gifts. Wonderful things from his home country. We hugged him and greeted him warmly. Later we told a lot of our adventures and Ismaya marveled. He is on his first trip. We will have lots of fun with him when he stops teeth from chattering. See you soon Wolley |

Hi mom,
Yesterday we had to say goodbye to Salmonella. She travels home. In parting, we celebrated a tea party with cucumber sandwiches and scones and cream and strawberry jam, and of course tea. We enjoyed the food and talked a lot of days gone by. Then Salmonella packed her things and it was time to say goodbye. We gave her a big group hug and wished her a safe journey. A little sad we watched her as she slipped into her jacket. Bye, bye good friend, maybe we'll meet again. Also, bye, bye dear mom, your little Wolley |
Jasper Posted Jun 2, 2013, 4:43 am |
Hi mom,
Today we took a small break in the rain and walked 10 minutes to the outside. We found large tree mushrooms. A little change in this gloomy monotony. hugs from Wolley |
Jasper Posted Jun 8, 2013, 1:59 pm |
Hi mom,
The last few days were exciting and boring at the same time. We had heavy rains, floods and landslides and we could not go outside. As the weather improved, Jasper's dad had to go to the hospital. Again, no time for walks or excursions. But today the weather is wonderful and grumpy grandpa is healthy again. Early in the morning we started for a walk to the river Thur. It was lovely. Everything was very quiet, most people were still asleep. You could hear the birds chirping and rushing the river and the air smelled of hay. We went over a small bridge. The river looks so romantic. We sat in the moss and ran through between rocks. A narrow footpath led us to the waterfall. Then we walked along the shore and saw remnants of the flooding. On the grass in the trees you can see how high the water was. By beautiful forests and mysterious gorges, we were on our way home. In one of the houses that you see in the background I live. At the end of our walk we discovered these wonderful flowers. It was great. A big hug from Wolley |

Hello home
Today I was a pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago. Honestly it was a coincidence. We wanted to visit the ruins Iberg. On our way we saw this sign. It means: the castle Iberg was built around 1200. By 1300 it was mentioned as a monument to the pilgrimage route. Since about 1800, it is a ruin. We felt very special. From the castle we had a great view over the Thur Valley. Greetings Wolley |

Hello mum,
Today a new TV arrived. I think it's a little leopard but I'm not sure. I'll ask her about it. She is a little shy but very nice. And that we are, Jasper's gang. Yours Wolley |
Jasper Posted Jun 28, 2013, 4:52 pm |
Hello mum,
yesterday, when Jasper was at work, the bell rang at the door. Although it is not allowed to open the door in Jasper's absence, we could not resist. Hase opened the door a little bit and discovered a envelope with interesting stamps. A packet from Trinidad and Tobago, wow. Together we brought the envelope into the dining room and considered what we should do. We opened it. The result was a small giraffe, wrapped in pink paper. We introduced ourselves and gave GiGi (so the giraffe is called) a warm welcome. She is so cute, I like her. yours Wolley |

Hi mum,
Today we celebrated Shakespeare's birthday. Its 89th Birthday. Can you imagine that? At Wikipedia we read, the turtles have lived on the earth before the dinosaurs evolved. Shakespeare has held up well. We congratulated him and sang a song. He got a cake and a fishing rod. While we waited for the cake, he practiced fishing. Greetings from Wolley, who hopes the rainy season is almost over. |

Hi mom,
Today we said goodbye to Hase. She travels home to visit her mom. Therefore, we had a big party yesterday. Sweets as much as we wanted. We could bathe in it and had so much fun. There was a lot of laughter and stories and adventures were told. But today we had heavy heart. As Hase grabbed her things a few tears flowed. We all wished her a safe journey. Bye mom Wolley |

Hi mom,
Today we made a trip to Konstanz. Konstanz, English: Constance) is a university city with approximately 80,000 inhabitants Konstanz is situated on Lake Constance (the Bodensee in German). The Rhine river, which starts in the Swiss Alps, passes through Lake Constance and leaves it, considerably larger, by flowing under a bridge connecting the two parts of the city. North of the river lies the larger part of the city with residential areas, industrial estates, and the University of Konstanz; while south of the river is the old town which houses the administrative centre and shopping facilities in addition to the Hochschule or the University of Applied Sciences. Car ferries provide access across Lake Constance to Meersburg, and the Katamaran provides a shuttle service for pedestrians to Friedrichshafen. To the south, the old town borders onto the Swiss town of Kreuzlingen. This is the Munster. We saw beautiful old houses. The casino - we wanted to play roulette or blackjack, but Jasper said no. So we admired the view, and talked with a swan. Behind us you can see the Steigenberger, a luxury hotel. The courtyard of the town hall. An art object - the inscription on the red table means: unbounded thinking Exactly what make TV's. Still a lovely old house called Graf Zeppelin. Here we are at the harbor. At the harbor entrance stands the Imperia. The Imperia is a statue at the entrance of the harbour of Konstanz, Germany, commemorating the Council of Constance that took place there between 1414 and 1418. The concrete statue is 9 metres high, weighs 18 tonnes, and stands on a pedestal that rotates around its axis once every four minutes. The Imperia shows a woman holding two men on her hands. The two men represent Pope Martin V and Emperor Sigismund. Martin V was elected during the Council while Sigismund was the king who called the council. Both are naked except for the crown and papal tiara, respectively, that they wear as symbols of their power. Jasper suddenly saw a Zeppelin on the way home. Unfortunately, we were crossing a bridge and could not stop. And unfortunately he is not very good to see. The little dot next to the flag. Now I'm tired. Good night mum Wolley |

Hi mum
Today we were on the river Thur. We wanted to swim and fish. Jasper had much to bear: some beach towels, sun deck, fishing rod, hammock and a parasol and of course us. Once at the river we looked for a suitable place. We found a small sand bar that had washed up the flood and made ourselves comfortable. Shakespeare threw his fishing rod but nothing wanted to bite. But the mosquitoes bite, and that us. We tried to make a fire but everything was still damp from the storm last night. It took some effort but we managed it. I almost burned my nose. On the way home I said goodbye to beloved things. From the river Thur, the green meadows, the little neighborhood that was long my home and my friends the chickens. We all had a fun day. Wolley |

Hi mom,
Today is Sunday and we enjoy the day and the sun on the balcony. Too many people and mosquitoes at the Thur. Tomorrow I will continue to travel, I'm going to see you. First I took a bath in lavender. I want to smell good when we meet again. Then I tried our little swing. It was not easy for me but with a little help it worked. We lounged around all day. We drank a lot of water but not only. For dinner we had something special: prawns and focaccia. We celebrated my farewell. I'll travel to the French part of Switzerland and meet you there. We laughed and talked until late into the night. What the others do not know, I'll sneak it in the morning. I hate goodbyes and tears but that's ToyVoyager fate. Goodbye my friends, I will miss you. See you mum, I'm so happy. Wolley |
