Arlington, Virginia, USA - 26th June 2010

By: swan

After the trip to Luebeck, Swan took me home to California. Now she's going to Virginia for a while and has taken me with her. I hope I'll get to do some sightseeing.

I've been sitting on the desk, often looking out the window, most of the time.

But today something interesting happened.  :D Swan introduced me to a brand new ToyVoyager named Orange. While I'm sticking around, Orange is going to be traveling to other hosts. Since Orange hasn't been out yet, I've been taking her on her first little trip today. We wen to the post office. She'll start her travels there once she gets her itinerary. We checked out the post office box and there was some mail in there. Then we put a postcard to be sent out in the mail slot. :)

I'm glad that on the way to and from the post office we stuck in the bag, I had seen that the weather was cold and wet and outside.

Swan told us that there was so much snow yesterday afternoon that the buses stopped running and she had to walk home from work for two hours. I'm glad she didn't take us with her but left us home in the warm apartment. But today we ventured out a bit to look at the snow and explore. Orange is so excited about all the new stuff she experiences that she wants to be upfront in the pictures sometimes

I should have brought my scarf!

Later in the day, Orange and I went to this Italian Restaurant called Tutto Bene. Mmm, I loved the pasta. We posed in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Swan was with us and told us she had visited the real thing  many years ago and it was fun to climb up and look at the city, even though it was a bit scary because there were no railings except on the top floor, so you had to make sure you didn't step off the tower. :o

On the weekend, Swan took me to a meeting. They all do Bookcrossing. Similar to us ToyVoyagers, the books travel from one person to another and each person makes an entry about the book, and sometimes they are left in the wild, and sometimes they stay with one person for a while. We met a little boy who's a bookcrosser already. There were lots of books for Swan and Orange and me to look through. We had brought one book and took a couple of other books home.

Sunnyvale, California, USA - 21st May 2014

By: swan

I know I have been MIA for quite a while. I did go some places and have pictures somewhere, I hope I'll find them and fill them in later.

But now for today. We came back to Pasadena two years ago. But now I'm in Sunnyvale, California for just a little while. This city doesn't seem so interesting, but we have a look around anyway since we are here. There is this looong stretched out park, called a Greenbelt, with one path through it. It looks kind of nice on the first picture, doesn't it? Although I wish there were more trees or something, there isn't much shade. But then there are places like this power distribution place where they forgot to plant things, even far away from the power lines!

After we walked along that sometimes not so green Greenbelt, we had lunch. This fancy restaurant was the only place to eat nearby, so we went in. They had one dish that wasn't so expensive but still yummy for lunch. These ravioli were indeed very good, with kale and mushrooms and a little cheese. If I had known this restaurant was so fancy, I would have dusted myself off better
After we had eaten, we went shopping.
