Renton, WA, USA - 20th August 2008

After a very long flight delay (10.5 hours in an airport, anyone?) I am back at home. I am always sad to leave a vacation, but happy to be home at the same time! I will have to start working on my next adventure...

Las Vegas, NV, USA - 17th September 2008
By: Rodney the Rat
Quick 2 day trip to Las Vegas. It is almost a second home, I have been there so much! This time was all business though. I was an attendee at the "Lean Accounting Summit" at the Red Rock Hotel. The hotel was very nice (I even got my own queen size bed!) and had a lovely pool. Alas, the pool was always closed when the conference was over, so I had to settle for some gazing during breakfast...

Back home again. Work trips are no fun, there isn't any play time! Oh well, I did miss my little accountant buddies.

Zion National Park, USA - 22nd October 2008
By: Rodney.T.Rat
Today we visited Zion National Park. What a beautiful place! We hiked the Watchman trail and Angel's Landing. My legs are so short though, I didn't make it all the way to Angel's Landing, so here is a picture of me at Scout's Landing. (Which, by the way, is no measly feat - it was a 1500 foot elevation gain in 2 miles!)
Yay for adding Utah to my state list!

Bryce Canyon National Park, USA - 23rd October 2008
By: Rodney.T.Rat
Next on the list - Bryce Canyon! I really enjoyed the Hoodoos, they were really amazing. I can't believe it was only 33 degrees when we started hiking in the morning though! I really wish I would have brought my scarf. We did quite a few hikes here, as well as a little off-trail wandering. Erin had to come and get me before I fell off the edge at Yovimpa Point!

Arches National Park, USA - 25th October 2008
By: Rodney.T.Rat
I can't believe how much hiking we did on this trip! My little legs are getting really tired. We went to Arches National Park next. We hiked over 10 miles in one day! I had to hitch a ride on some other hikers for parts. We hiked the Windows, Devil's Garden, and Delicate Arch trails.
The trails in Devil's Garden were marked by a series of cairns across the slickrock. We had to cross this rock fin that was about 10 feet across with a 100 foot drop on one side, and a 30 foot drop on the other! I was ready for a break when we got to the other side, luckily there was a rat-sized cairn hut awaiting me there! Thanks to all of the park employees and enthusiasts who keep those cairns (and cairn huts!) intact!! It was a great place to kick back and take a load off.

Canyonlands National Park, USA - 26th October 2008
By: Rodney.T.Rat
The last park of the trip was Canyonlands National Park. We visited this crazy place called Upheaval Dome, did a little rock climbing, checked out the cacti, and visited Mesa Arch. Mesa Arch is HUGE, so it is very hard to see me. But I am there!
Oh, and happy birthday to Colin!

Tacoma, WA, USA - 22nd November 2008
By: Rodney.T.Rat
If I could only add music to my toy voyager page, it would be DA DA DAAAAAH! (evil scary music!) I had a serious incident this weekend. Let me tell you my story...
Three of my little accountants decided that they would be attending the New Kids on the Block concert (yes, as in late 80s NKOTB I heart Joey, Jordan, John, Donnie, & Danny New Kids...) Innocent enough, yes, until the jug o' Skyy Vodka appeared. I went to the Melting Pot with them before hand (fun times, as you can see...) and then I was taken to the concert... and forgotten about. On Monday at work, my caretaker for the weekend was asked of my whereabouts... and couldn't answer!! Panic ensued. Luckily, I was just hiding in the bottom of her duffel bag, sleeping off my vodka and pop music hang over. Plus, I had to get the high pitched girls screams from ringing in my ears!! Anyways, I am safe and sound and everyone knows where I am...

Not having worked out on the stair master before this trip, climbing the Great Wall was exhausting. This part of the wall was built during the Qin Dynesty.
