Hey Mom!
While we still had the chance, Ray and I wanted to get our picture taken with the colorful autumn forest.
It was much nicer a few days ago, but then we were too busy enjoying the colors to actually take pictures.
Do you like these contrasts?

Hi Mom!
I'm in the United States in the wonderful state of Wisconsin!
Weather hasn't been great here and with the holiday of Thanksgiving coming up, we haven't gone sight seeing quite yet.
Write more later.

I got to celebrate my first Thanksgiving!
LOTS of food. Her sister's husband did most of the cooking (my picture was taken before the turkey hit the table). Creamed corn casserole, green bean casserole, banana bread, crescent rolls, yams, cranberry relish, and Waldorf salad... and homemade apple pie with whip cream for dessert!

I am now getting an education in severe winter weather. Nothing like a winter storm that the news people were calling the "three-headed monster".
A blizzard warning was issued about 2pm because the snow was going to be blowing quite hard. She says that we are the black dot in the middle of the map picture.
Can you see the wall behind me? (It's a small retaining wall). This was about 9pm. The snow was still pretty light. It was also blowing up to her front door.

We woke up to the snow plow at 5am.
This is what the retaining wall looks like now. About 13 inches of snow fell on the ground but it was hard to really say since it was blowing around.
The snow basically stopped around 4pm. This was what she opened her door to. Oh, and the wall is now disappeared.
The three headed monster was really the snow fall (which shut most of the state down by the Governor's orders), the winds which were blowing up to 57mph! and the forecast now is the extreme cold ... wind chills of -15 to -30*F (-26 to -34*C)!!
Will write as soon as thing thaw out a little more here!

leaving La Crosse, WI, USA - 16th December 2009
By: Luv_Lioness
Here I am on a road trip in Wisconsin. We're going from one side of the state to the other.
Destination: Milwaukee!
Even though it's a straight shot on the interstate, we took a GPS with us.
The 3rd and 4th pictures show a ski place that is making snow! See the white puffs in the air? That's the snow! I guess they need more than what just fell.
Pretty driving through this, isn't it?
We made it!!

We didn't do much sightseeing since we were going to lots of places to visit people.
But today we were stuck in the house due to another snow storm! It's amazing how the weather changes here in Wisconsin, especially during the winter.
I got to help wrap some presents.
After that hard work, we enjoyed some popcorn.
She tried to show how bad the weather was outside... it's snowing and freezing rain.

We went to her boyfriend's parent's place for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
One of the first things that came out when we arrived, just to set up for the family party, was the booze.
Then I posed in the Christmas tree... to get into the Christmas spirit (plus, I am a Christmas color!). Then one with the tree, when the lights were turned on. Pretty isn't it?
A reindeer cookie ... or is it?
Then I got a taste of beer!

Time to start snacking!! Lots of good food here!
Then the people started doing family pictures and opening gifts (which took awhile) ...
Long enough that I had to have another beer!
Merry Christmas Mum!

There aren't that many pictures from the way home since the roads were bad for 1/2 the state ... but she did get a sample picture of that.
Then the other half was sunny and the roads were good (the windshield is dirty!).
Her car needs a shower!
Will write more later since it's getting cold again!

Since it was cold outside, and we stayed up until the new year started, we were "couch potatoes" today. Luckily we found some good cartoons on! (Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes)

Today she said we were not going to let the cold stop us from seeing some more of the city... despite the cold! (8*F / -13*C ... BEFORE the wind)
The American flag was flying pretty good, so it was nice and breezy. Grandad's Bluff is a well visited place that truly is a very cool place to visit.
This is a trailer that has most of the things used to set off the fireworks that we saw, I guess the cold even kept them from taking it all that night!
The lights are in the shape of a Christmas tree... which is seen from all over the city. (soon to be taken down)

Views are of me looking from the south to the north. You can see the land in Iowa, Minnesota, and the city of La Crosse. The picture in which there are two blue bridges are historic and cross over into Minnesota over the Mississippi River. (Yes, I am that close!)
