Jacksonville, FL, USA - 20th March 2009

My host, Trip, has been sick all week so we haven't gone out and done much. She's also been really busy with work and school, so I helped her with studying.
She has a class practical next week on the skeletal system. Look at all the bones just inside the skull.
Here's a real 12-lead EKG she did on patient. It showed the lady having an STEMI aka heart attack!
Hopefully, Trip will feel better this weekend so we can go have fun!
Love, Herbie

Hi mom!
The weather has been nasty here all week so we've been stuck indoors. I've been just hanging out with Shaggy, watching Harry Potter movies.
Me and Shaggy took a pic with Trip's new owl figurine she found at a Thrift store.
Shaggy will be leaving soon to go to his new host. I will miss hanging out with him.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Love,
Herbie

Remscheid-Hasten, Germany - 18th June 2009
By: olgamaus
Hi Mummy,
in the afternoon we took a walk to the district Hasten, one of the oldest districts of Remscheid. Little mouse Sportie accompanied Katja and me. She will be travelling to China soon. Doesn't that sound great?
You can see many of the typical houses here. In this region, the "Bergisches Land", many houses are timberframed houses or covered with slate. Also typical are green shutters. Due to its natural conditions, Remscheid's districts are not close together, but they extend into the surrounding forrests and valleys. You can see everywhere, that the whole municipal area is surrounded by lots of green and forrests.
This is the new building of a home for the elderly, ...
... and this the original building.
We decided to visit a friend and ask her if she wanted to accompany us for a walk.
Our path is leading along allotment gardens. I really like this overgrowed path.
Here are more pretty old houses, built close together. I think nobody like the idea of a fire here. For fire engines it es almost impossible to reach those houses.
Can you see the factory in the background of the next picture? This is where we started our walk.
On our way home we went to a recently opened garden center.
Here are funny shaped trees ...
... and here are several sorts of stones, which you can use for your garden paths or simply as a decoration.
Could you imagine to put blue glass into your garden ?!
Later we had to buy a few things to prepare a melon sorbet. I don't have the slightest idea what this could be, but we'll see.
Bye

Remscheid, Germany - 29th June 2009
By: olgamaus
Hi Mummy,
I climbed into Katja's bag in the morning. I heard her talking about a ToyVyoager waiting at the post office. She wanted to pick up the new guest there in the morning.
I went with her and we rescued Evie from her envelope. The sun was shining so we took some photos in front of the city hall.
The city hall was built in 1906, was nearly destroyed in World War II and rebuilt in the late 1940s, early 1950s in a more modern style. The tower is 48 m high.
The heraldic animal of Remscheid is the lion (one with two tails). You can find one on a pillar in front of the city hall.
It was a good idea to take the photos in the morning. When Katja finished work at 6:00 p.m. it was raining.
Bye

Hi Mummy,
Katja told us that we will travel to Spain tomorrow, to Barcelona.
That sounds great! Maybe I'll see a wonderful sunset there.
We'll come home on Thursday in the late evening.
Bye

Remscheid, Germany - 6th July 2009

Hi Mummy,
we went to the railway station to go to Düsseldorf airport. We'll fly to Barcelona!
When we left the house, we found an envelope on the stairs with cute little mouse UrselHH inside. She arrived just in time to accompany us to Spain.
At the railway station we climbed out of Katja's bag to get a bit of fresh air.
