Gand, Belgium - 17th April 2008
By: Mistigree
Another visit today ! We were in Gand which has very colourful houses on its main place.
It also has a castle with the Belgium flag flying over it !
I ate fries for the second time, but this time it wasn't with mussels, but with some excellent cheese croquettes.

Toulouse, France - 1st June 2008
By: Mistigree
Last time, I saw this restaurant's sign somewhere in the town centre and I think they have done it especially in my honour, don't you think ?? The character on it looks like me and also looks as greedy as me !
It is my last day here in Toulouse. Mistigree is a little fed up with me, because since I've been living here, her food's expenses have tripled !! However she bought some cherries especially for me, but it is a pitty that I don't have ears so that I could hang them on my ears as they were earings !
Deborah, are you ready to welcome me ? I'm coming soon and I'm HUNGRY !!!!!!!!!!!

London, England - 14th June 2008

In London at last, the door was opened by a badly dressed bear. I asked him where the food was. I didn’t quite catch what he said I but spotted the kitchen straight away. And there it was – the refrigerator! The bear kept wittering on about something or other but I didn’t pay much attention as it clearly wasn’t as important as food. Honestly, he didn’t even have the common sense to get out of the way!

Well, the food in the fridge didn’t go very far. Luckily the human has come back with some bags of shopping and has promised to make me a meal. Come on – hurry! hurry!
And here it is: diced polenta with sweet peppers, onion, garlic, mushrooms and peas, cooked with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and mixed herbs, topped with freshly ground black pepper and served on a bed of wild rocket with vine ripened cherry tomatoes. Look out – I’m going in!

I certainly don’t think much of that vegetarian rubbish. It hardly fills you up at all. In fact, I’m so hungry I could eat an elephant.
Well, what do you know! And no bear in sight....

I craftily managed to get back into the house, although I admit that it was a bit of a tight squeeze. By this time Deborah had taken pity on me and agreed to feed me three times a day so long as I promised to be good.

For breakfast I had one measly slice of toast topped with mushrooms, spring onions and toasted pine kernels.
At lunch time it was quinoa served with crunchy celery, chickpeas and olives in a spicy tomato sauce.
And for dinner I was given two vegetarian sausages accompanied by a rather small pile of red lentils mixed with green peppers, mangetouts, petits pois and a dash of dark soy sauce.
Really, I may as well have stayed outside eating the garden plants.

Locarno, Switzerland - 25th June 2008
By: Deborah
When I leapt out of the suitcase I could tell by the way that Travel Ted jumped up and down that he was very excited and pleased to see me and that it hadn’t been his intention at all to leave me behind while he went on holiday. I know he’ll be thrilled that I managed to correct his terrible oversight.
It was really quite generous of him to go out and leave me alone at the breakfast table so that I could have his portion as well. A nice big bowl of muesli and some bread and cheese was a reasonable start to the day, but it was in the chocolate shop that I really found myself in my element.

Cimetta, Locarno, Switzerland - 25th June 2008
By: Deborah
Deborah thought it would be nice to take me out for a bit of sightseeing so we took a cable car and chair lift to the top of a mountain. I know that everyone was only joking when they commented about the way the cable above us creaked when I hopped on. I don’t know why they were all so interested in the panoramic views. I was much more interested in the café where it was very kind of them to insist that I drank so much beer. I felt slightly bad about falling asleep for the rest of the day.

Stresa, Italy - 26th June 2008
By: Deborah
I tagged along to Italy where I had to make do with a rather light lunch of a tuna, olive and tomato salad and some focaccia filled with grilled aubergine and emmental. I think I’d better go and look for some ice cream to fill me up.
