Travelog for: Greedy

London, England - 27th June 2008

By: Deborah

Back in England I tucked into a little ‘take-away’ of egg fried rice with prawns. That’s a traditionally British meal, right?

Fortunately Wourpet wasn't really upset about me nibbling my way into her home.  She said that the zucchimin's were growing so fast out in the garden I was welcome to eat as many as I want.  Later she will take me out and show me where they are in case I need to go out for a snack because that will be all I am allowed to eat on my own.
Tonight, though, I got to grill porkchops.  She said she normally only cooks 2 for herself and her husband but since I was visiting she loaded the grill with 6 of them.

I think I might really like it here.

The mail had been brought in from the mailbox and placed on the counter.  I hadn't really made a note of what was in the mail.  As I was passing by the counter a little later I noticed someone had taken a bite of one of the fresh zucchinis that had just come in from the garden.

As I checked a little closer I also noticed the corner of one of the packages in the pile of mail had been chewed as well.  As I was trying to determine what had nibbled on the zucchini and on my mail I noticed the package had started wiggling.
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3833.jpg

The mystery was soon solved as a little purple head pushed its way out of the chewed corner on the package and returned to nibbling on the zuchini.  Greedy has arrived!

Wourpet was not even upset when she saw I had nibbled my way into her home and snacked on a zucchini.  In fact she told me I could eat all the zucchini I want because they are threatening to take over her home.  She will be taking me out to the garden later to show me where they are.

For dinner tonight we grilled porkchops and wourpet explained that she usually only cooks 2 but she cooked 6 in case I was hungry.  She did mention that if I want to snack outside of meal times that I had better get out to the garden to find something.

We haven't been doing much traveling but wow! have I been eating.  And wourpet even lets me cook what I want as long as its at meal time.

Today we made a beef pot roast.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3838.jpg

Wourpet kept calling it a 7-bone roasty but I tried to count them and it didn't have any bones at all.

WOW!!!  I still didn't get to see the garden but today we went out to the orchard.  It is AWESOME!  there were apricots everywhere.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3843.jpg

I thought I could surely eat until I burst out here.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3844.jpg

Wourpet told me some were not ready yet and were still a little green but they all looked so good.  Yummy Yummy Yummy!

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3845.jpg

But wourpet reminded me it wasn't meal time.  She agreed to let me eat some if I promised to help her.  I ate and ate and then I helped load the dehyrdator (and I only snuck a few).

Today I went to Enstrom's Candy Factory!  Can you believe it?

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3891.jpg

There was sooo much candy -- and toffee  --and chocolate and...

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3896.jpg

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3897.jpg

And then I got to try out a sample of the toffee!

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3893.jpg

Wourpet was going to let me watch them make the toffee but they weren't making any today.

Tonight we cooked our supper on the grill.

Wourpet said I could choose between a big juicy T-bone steak...

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3904.jpg

or some zesty grilled zuchinni...

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_3905.jpg

So I decided...

To eat them both!  Ahhhhhhhh!

Albuquerque, NM, USA - 29th July 2008

By: wourpet

We went to Albuquerque New mexico and it was very very hot.  I was inside feeling pretty cool when I wandered across a buffet.  They told me I could take a plate and have all I could eat.  Can you IMAGINE!
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4020.jpg

After that Wourpet took me out for some genuine Mexican food.  I was eating and blowing fire and eating more.  Everyone kept asking 'red or green?' and wourpet would say green. She finally told me it is the official State question in New Mexico -- and they are asking about the chili!

I had lots of Mexican food while we were in New Mexico but none of the pictures turned out.  Wourpet said it was most likely my pepper breath that fogged up the lens.  I actually took quite a liking to the Huevos Rancheros I had for breakfast before we left.  I even licked my plate.

I haven't been finding a lot of time to update on here because there is soooooo much food to eat out in the yard.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4174.jpg

Today I wandered into the garden and brought back a huge sack of corn to chomp on for the rest of the afternoon.

Finally the peaches got ripe.  Wourpet picked some and then she told me I could help myself and have as many as I want.
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4203.jpg

There were peaches for me to eat on the ground.
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4202.jpg

And peaches for me to eat in the tree.
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4176.jpg

And when I went inside wourpet was making jam

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4172.jpg

so I got into that too.

Today the most horrible thing happened.  Another Toy Voyager showed up.  At first I thought I would like Candy Cotton but then she went out to the orchard and the garden and I had to shoo her away so she wouldn't eat anything.

Grand Junction, Colorado, USA - 21st August 2008

While I was chasing Candy Cotton out of the garden yesterday I spotted some apples that I did not know were there.  Today I went out and ate most of them up.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4179.jpg

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4204.jpg

Wourpet told me I probably should not have eaten them while they were green.  And she said I should not have eaten the green peaches either.

Well I am finally feeling a little better from the green fruit problem. (Okay -- so maybe I will agree I should not have eaten them -- just this one time though)

I saw some plums Wourpet had picked and she shooed me out of the kitchen and told me to go pick my own.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4173.jpg

I ate...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4205.jpg

and I ate...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4206.jpg

and I ate...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4178.jpg

and I ate...

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4180.jpg

and I ate...

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4181.jpg

and then when Wourpet came out and saw me on the ground with chewed up plums scattered all about she thought I had burst -- but I was just resting.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_4207.jpg

I'm leaving on Monday for Canada and Wourpet said I am not allowed to take any fruit with me but she might pack me some other snacks for the trip.

Maple Ridge, BC, Canada - 11th September 2008

By: AbbyB

With the food Wourpet sent with me in my envelope gone in minutes, I waited eagerly, and with growling stomach, to arrive at the home of my next host.  Finally!

http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq85/abbystoyvoyagers/Greedy/September-11-2008-003.jpg

There were some other TVs who came forward to greet me, but I was too busy looking for food to stop and chat.  My keen eyes spotted a cupcake.  Aww, Abby, you shouldn't have.

http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq85/abbystoyvoyagers/Greedy/September-11-2008-004.jpg

I dove in headfirst...

http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq85/abbystoyvoyagers/Greedy/September-11-2008-006.jpg

Only to realize to my horror that the cupcake wasn't real at all, but made out of yarn!

http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq85/abbystoyvoyagers/Greedy/September-11-2008-009.jpg

Was this some sort of sick joke?  I looked toward Abby who, recovering from the shock of seeing me take a huge bite of her prize-winning crocheted cupcake, said something about letting me help her pick tomatoes tomorrow.
