When we looked inside the room, we found that it was decorated like it belonged in Aincent Egypt.
There were columns painted on the walls, along with a giant mural of a cat!
The rug had heiroglyphics and pictures on it. (this one is of an aincent boat)
My favourite of the rug-pictures was this one with a scene of Aincent Egyptian royalty! (I belong in this picture, don't you think? )
Then Roo and I climbed up on a big piece of furniture to see what was up there.
We found a small statue of a bird and a papyrus painting. (Silverwings says that the bird's name is Horus, by the way. Oh, and that the picture is from the aincent Egyptian "book of the dead".)
There were other statues there too. I posed for a picture with this bird-lady.
When we came down, Roo and I had a bit of a scare. Remember the cat mural? Well, it turns out that that wasn't the only cat in the room.
Fortunatly, Silverwings appeared to rescue us. She explained that we had been exploring her bedroom. (When she dissappeared for some trip back in July, her family redecorated it for her. The Aincent Egypt theme is because Silverwings actually likes that stuff and is wanting to be an archaeologist.)
Silverwings told us that the cat was a good friend of hers. His name is Leo, or "The Grand Ceaser Leo the Magnificent" if you want to be more formal.

Today, Silverwings let me (and my good friend Roo) join her while she was practicing her harp. (She's learning to play the celtic-style harp, and has to practice a lot!)
Roo and I got to try our paws at the harp. It's bigger than we are, so we had to work together to play it.
Roo played the low strings, and I got to play the high ones.
It sounded good when we played, but as I am already a musician I can tell that Silverwings really needs to tune the thing!
Harp sounds quite different from the music I normally listen to...or play, but it is a nice sound.

Amarillo (Texas), USA - 29th November 2007
By: Silverwings
This morning, Silverwings woke me up really, really early. She said that we were going somewhere, but wouldn't say where.
So Roo and I got to ride in the car with the whole family and see the sun rise through the rear window.
We had breakfast in Plainview. It was quite good, but as soon as we got our food, the car started again and kept going.
We drove and we drove and we drove until we arrived in Amarillo. Then Silverwings revealed her suprise: We were going to the Farm Show!
What is a farm show, you ask? Basicly, it's where a whole bunch of farmers get together and look at all of the new equipment and such that's avalible to them. (Or a comunity center full of giant machienes and farmers.)
We got to see a pair of tractors that are made to spray chemicals onto the feild.
This is the newer version:
And this is the old, old one:
Everyone we met was happy to let us take pictures!
Later on, Roo and I got to learn about the "Ogallala Aquifer", where most of the water in west Texas comes from. There was a big display showing what it looks like:
It was very interesting to learn that the playa lake we explored a while back is actually a collection station for the aquifer.
Unfortunatly, we didn't get to take any more pictures at the farm show, but it was really a lot of fun!

IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before I go into my normal travellog update, pictures, and such, I would like to say this:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!
And now for my pictures!
Last night I stayed up late "staking out" the Christmas Tree to see if Santa would come.
I had the perfect hiding place too...
But I must have fallen asleep, sometime last night, because when I opened my eyes it was morning. Sigh. Better luck next year, I suppose.
I also got to meet a new friend. His name is mister moose. We took a picture together... He's a bit tall, don't you think?
What a wonderfull holiday! Merry Christmas again!!!

Floydada, Texas, United States of America - 6th January 2008
By: Silverwings
Hi again everyone! I'm having Silverwings post this for me, as I can't do it myself this time...
A few weeks ago, Silverwings informed me that I would be going on a grand adventure with some people from her church. It's a mission trip to Africa, and since one of the people who's going met me, I get to go along!!!
The lady who's acting as my temporary host has promised to e-mail pictures back for Silverwings to post as often as possible... but I'm not sure how often that will be, as I don't think internet access is that common where we're going... but I know it's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm curious as to what the people are like there.
The only thing I'm not sure of about this trip is the fact that we have to spend a long, long time on an airplane to get there.

By: Silverwings
A while back I learned that I was going to be moving on to my next host. So today Silverwings helped me to send a message to Mistigree informing her that I was going back into the postal system...
And then I got ready to leave...
and squeezed into my new "traveling compartment".
I'm off on my next adventure!!!

Alkmaar, the Netherlands - 9th April 2008
By: Eryah
Hello!
Today was the first sunny day we had in months here in the Netherlands so there's only one thing we really have to do: get a tan!
At the end of this week they predict rain again so this was our change. Hopefully tomorrow we can enjoy the sun again.
Big hugs Iggy-Korn
