Vienna, Austria - 6th February 2007
By: ChristinaB
Hello!
I safely arrived in Austria Thursday last week. I'm currently staying with a funny family with 3 little boys and tons of other stuffed animals and so far I'm really having a great time!
Just after I arrived I got to know my mates here, like "Benedikt" a funny dog, "Eisbaer" the Polar Bear and a little sheep without a name. We had a great carneval party already and I tried some delicious "Krapfen" which are very typical for this time of the year. Yummy....
The other day we went on a trip to a lake called "Neusiedlersee". Well, it wasn't the best season to go there since it was pretty cold but we had a good time there walking around. I got to know some of the swans and ducks there... Strange animals...
Neusiedlersee is an UNESCO WHS so I already fullfilled one of my missions!
We spent a lazy weekend at home to safe some energy. But yesterday we did a BIG sightseeing tour in Vienna. The family has a baby and guess what!? They carried me arround in the pram, too!!! So I had a really comfortable "walk" through the city of Vienna, visiting all these famous buildings like St. Stephen's cathedral, the old Imperial Theatre and the Opera. That was nice!!! I gonna show you some photos later, okay?
The family told me that they have still a big program for me. We'll go to visit Schönbrunn castle, The Big Wheel and many other sights here in the city before we'll go on skiing holiday to the Alps! I'm soooo excited about that, so I have decided to stay here for a few more days.
I'll let you know more later, until then have a wonderful time!
Love, Siti Semut

Vienna, Austria - 8th February 2007
By: ChristinaB
Hi everybody!
I just wanted to let you know that I'm still feeling very well here in Vienna. Yesterday they did something really adventurous with me! The family showed me how to do ice-skating!! That was exciting, believe me!
There is a big skating court in Vienna just between the City Hall, the Old imperial theatre, the university and the parliament, so the atmosphere is really great for a tourist like me!
To be honest, I was a bit scared at the beginning and the first lap was really exciting, but then I started to love it and didn't want to stop again. Fortunately they made a scarf for me because it was really freezing - and I'm really happy now to have it.
Well, I have to go now. The family has planned to go to Schönbrunn Palace today with me and maybe we'll also visit the zoo there.
Love, Siti

Vienna, Austria - 12th February 2007

Hi there,
many news from me again!! I'm still in Vienna as you know. On Thursday we went to Schönbrunn castle as I told you before. That was really beautiful - I almost felt like an emperor there! The castle is surrounded by a large park which must be especially amazing in summer when they plant thoasands of flowers there! There is a maze in the park, a palm house a building called "Gloriette" which is located on a hill and where you have a wonderful view over the city from and many other nice little builings and monuments.
And there is Europe's oldest zoo in the park, too. The kids loved to go there and to be honest - I was curious, too, since I've never been to a zoo before. Well, at the beginning it was really interesting and I enjoyed to watch all the lions, giraffes, rhinozeros, crocodiles and other friendly animals. But can you imagine whom we met then? A GIANT ANT-EATER!!! Believe me, I never ran that fast before!!!!
It took me a while to recover from this shock! But the other day I was ready for the next adventure again!!
Love, Siti

Vienna, Austria - 12th February 2007

The next exciting days I spent together with the family in a small village in the country side where the grandparents have a house. To reach this place we went through a valley called "Wachau" where the river Danube runs through. It is famous for the grapes and the apricots planted there and the wine they make there is really delicios I was told. This valley is an UNESCO site, too (by the way, Schönbrunn castle and the city center of Vienna are also WHS, so I already visited 4 of them. Great, hm??), unfortunately it was already too dark for taking photos.
When we reached the house it became a bit lighter again. Guess why? Yep, all the fields and meadows where covered with something sparkling & white: SNOW!!! The first time in my ant-life that I saw snow!
The other day the kids took me outdoors with them and we spent hours playing in this strange white stuff. We had the sledge with us and it was really exciting to ride down the hills! I couldn't get enough of it and since the boys loved it, too we went up and down a few dozens of times! Luckily I've got my scarf, otherwise I think it would have become pretty cold there. I wanted to take some of the snow with me to show it to you, Aliah, but I was told that this would properbly be not so successfull...
Well, after this exciting weekend, I really need a rest today!
Love, Siti
