I arrived in Essen today and was welcomed by Rishu and Luisa.





I had a postcard in my envelope for BlackCat.

the weather was so wonderful today, that we decided to have a walk in Heiligenhaus. The area around the lake (and maybe the lake as well) is called "Abtsküche". I hope you enjoy the photos we made.

Hey !

Today we went to a part of Essen called Heisingen.



There wasn't much to see, especially as BlackCat didn't have that much time to show us around. But we saw the statue above and the police office.



After that we had to hurry a bit, but it was still a nice day !

Today we went to see "Haus Baldeney" - also called "Schloss Baldeney" (which would mean House Baldeney or Castle Baldeney).

BlackCat doesn't know a lot about the history. She just know that there was a restaurant inside, which had to leave and now the new owners don't know what to do with the house and it is empty. It is close to the lake Baldeney, so the city wants it to be something special. There were different ideas, but the city didn't like them. So now it is empty.



Right next to it is a little graveyard. Probably with the people who lived there years ago. Nobody keeps care of it, so it looks like a mess...



It has a little chapel, where they really have a mass every Sunday in summer.



That is the house where the restaurant was inside.



And that's a ruin in their garden.

Hopefully someone will keep care of that house soon. If not it will probably be a ruin in the future.

Hey,

today we went to the castle ruin in Burgaltendorf (a part of Essen).
It is the ruin of castle Altendorf, which gave the name to the part of Essen.



That's the tower. In that part of the ruin the people lived.



That was the kitchen of the castle. You can't really guess what is what.



There is a writing on the wall from the outside saying: "Den Toten zum Gedächtnis, den Lebenden zum Mahnen" which means "In memory of the dead, to remind the living!".

I don't check my life mission as it was only a ruin and maybe BlackCat will get the chance to show me a castle, which is still okay.

Hey hey,

today we visited the Zoo in Gelsenkirchen. The zoo has 3 parts: Asia, Africa and Alaska. First we were in Asia.



These camels were the only animals we could get a good photo of.

Then we went to Alaska.



That is Antonia. Antonia is a polar bear. She is vertically challenged. She still looks like a baby polar bear, but she is really old (we don’t know how old exactly, but older than 8 years).



The seals were nice and came close to us. We had a good look on them. Really funny.

Africa was the last stop on our list.



Look, I found meerkats.



A giraffe.



A warning sign…are there Lions????

And with that we were at the end of the zoo. It was a really nice day!

today we had a short walk and saw these fields on our way.

today we made a walk in a park. The park is called Nordsternpark. It is in Gelsenkirchen. In 1997 the „Bundesgartenschau“ was in that park. It was really nice there. We went to the platform where you have a nice view and made 2 photos for you!

today we had a bad case from not knowing where you want to go. BlackCat wanted to visit a nice park in Mülheim a.d. Ruhr and she looked it up online. But when we drove to the address she had found, we weren’t at the park. We were at caste Styrum. But BlackCat wasn’t that sad about it and said we can enjoy our time there. So we did that. And we made some photos for you while spending our time there. I really hope you like them.



In the garden of the castle we found these flowers. Aren't they nice? Spring is finally there, I guess.



This tree was worth a photo as well, at least we think so!



That is the castle itself. Doesn't it look nice? I really liked it.

We had a lot of fun in the garden. Hopefully BlackCat doesn't have the right address soon again!

Happy Easter to everyone out there! We coloured some eggs. BlackCat didn’t made photos while doing it, as she was scared we will get colourful because of it. But we made photos with the eggs.

Hey,

today we joined BlackCat on her shopping tour in Essen Steele. It is a part of Essen. She had to go to the post office.



On the way to the post office we saw a pet shop and looked at the rabbits who were jumping around in the window.



Then we saw the church next to the post office.



And an old house on the market place in Steele.



And last but not least the shopping street itself.

surprise, surprise we are in another country.

BlackCat visits her best friend right now and luckily she is living in Utrecht, Netherlands. So we were able to join her while visiting her.

Today we went to the Dom of Utrecht.



This statue was standing next to the cathedral.





And that's the cathedral tower. Isn't it big?
