Bruchsal, Germany - 16th February 2007
By: fam-united
Today I had a tour in my hometown. Bruchsal has 27 000 inhabitants, with suburbs there are about 42 000. I saw many interesting buildings and thought, it would be a good thing to show them here.
The first shows the wonderful baroque church called St. Peterskirche. Then we took some photos with me at some places next to the church.

Then we went over a nice bridge to the stairs, which lead to the grammar school St. Paulusheim, which is a private school of the Pallotti order.

Then we walked to the Belvedere, which belongs to the palace and has a very nice garden with a lot of wonderful trees.

I loved the Belvedere more than the next building. It is the dongon of the old castle of Bruchsal. Happily we stayed outside, but I've heard, that you have a lovely view over Bruchsal, if you are on the top of it.
Then we were in front of the Stadtkirche, the church in the middle of our city, next to the market place, where is market twice a week.

One of the most beautiful places here is the baroque palace. The founding stone was laid in 1720 by Cardinal Damian Hugo von Schönborn, Prince Bishop of Speyer, who made the palace the nerve centre of his absolutist reign. After being almost completely destroyed in the final days of the Second World War, the painstaking reconstruction of the main tract, complete with its dome, famous Marble Hall, Prince's Hall and a staircase designed by Balthasar Neumann ("the finest staircase in the world"). Now the palace houses the Bruchsal Museum of Prehistory, Ancient History, Mineralogy and Numismatics, with also traces the town's development through the ages. Also housed in the palace is the German Museum of Musical Automata, which thanks to its acquisition of more than 100 valuable instruments from the Carlson collection of Königslutter, is now among the largest such collections in the world. Some of the instruments in the museum have become almost legendary over the years - among them the organ originally built for the "Titanic", which fortunately was not completed in time for that ship's fateful maiden voyage.

Honiton, Devon UK, UK - 4th March 2007
By: drakie
Well last week I went to work with my host Sylvia to the Police Station, I typed up a couple of statement for her boys (Policemen). She likes a lot of pink things, pink everywhere around her desk, good job the public cannot see her. The trouble is the traffic wardens takes over for an hour at dinner, and all he did was moan about PINK.... cannot blame him I`m not too keen on Pink being a boy of course.... In the afternoon I sat in a Police car and the siren went... but I think that was because I kept pressing lots of buttons.. oops. I tried to drive the car but my little legs would not reach the pedals. A Police Community Officer picked me up an laughed at me... not very nice.. but he was a nice man. Was going to the coast but I decided to sit by the fire... it never stops raining in Honiton....... next week going to see Robin Hood in Nottingham./

There are some news about Aaron and his family in Bruchsal. Aaron is voyager of the week from 5th to 11th March 2007. We had a little party for him and his twin sister felt very happy for him too.
Oh yes, we forgot to tell, that he has a twin sister at home. Although they are boy and girl, they just look the same.
And there is a guest in Bruchsal now since today. It is Eddy Bear.

Well today I visited the Nottingham Forest Football Ground, I saw inside it but was photographed outside you can see Notts Forest emblem, this is where the great Brian Clough managed. It is known as The City Ground and has been the home of Nottm Forest Football Club since 1898. The ground as it is today has undergone major surgery in recent years, starting with what is now known as The Brian Clough Stand, (formerley The Executive Star in the 1979-1980 season.
