St. Charles Missouri, USA - 22nd February 2008
By: pjdags6
Hello everyone, Aaron the Donkey here. I had a good time in Missouri and can't wait to go off to my other family. I got to celebrate, Halloween, an American Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentine's Day here. I didn't do anything for New Year's Eve. I did go into hiding because the girls in the slumber party said they would put make up on me.
The family I stayed with were the Browns. Aaron, isn't that funny 2 Aarons in the house, Glora, Paisley, December, Sebastian and John. John wanted to hold me all the time. Their dog, Charlie, thought I was a new toy for him so I was always kept up really high. The Browns live in St. Charles, Missouri, USA. It is outside of St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
I got to go trick or treat but I didn't dress up. I dressed up the night at the St. Louis Zoo. I was a mummy. It was a lot of fun. Everyone got a lot of candy. At the zoo we got to see a lot of neat things. The only animals that stayed out where the seals, they were fun though. I went into my first haunted maze. It was fun and scary at the same time.
For Thanksgiving the Browns traveled to Indiana. Thanksgiving was November 22, 2007. We had 2 Thanksgiving dinners. It was fun. So much food it was great. We had at both dinners turkey, mash potatoes, macaroni and cheese, pumpkin pie and much more I just can't remember. Meeting everyone in the family was a nice treat too. Very busy few days though. We visited so many people and stayed for 5 days. We were always doing something.
Christmas was great. Before Christmas we had a snow storm and I got to play in the snow. Snow is so much fun to play in. We had snow ball fights and made snow angels. We just played outside as long as we could. Then that night we went to one of the many places in St. Louis area that had Christmas lights. The lights were great. And there was a signed posted that if we turned the radio to a certain station we could listen to Christmas music during the ride. We all sang a long to some of the songs. It was fun.
Christmas Day was fun. I got a blanket, a sleeper, socks, a cap and a cup. There was such a mess on the floor from all the wrapping paper and boxes. Then it was time for dinner again. It was a lot of food again. We had a turkey again. The Browns recorded all these Christmas shows and we watched them during the day.
There was a lot of down time because we had to work on the kids school grades and bring them up. It was still fun even if we didn't do anything.
Finally Valentine's Day came. Everyone got candy. I got two suckers but then the kids ate them, they were afraid they would make a mess once we mailed them off. I got 4 Valentine's Day cards but lost one. They are the kind of cards that the kids got to take to school to trade with their classmates. The Brown kids they got tattoos with their Valentine's Cards. Since John couldn't have the tattos he got a stuff Valentine's Day Gorilla.
I hope to have more fun adventures with my next host family.

Baddesley Clinton, England - 23rd July 2008
By: Isobel&Neil
Here I am, roving around Warwickshire to bring you the best that the county has to offer!
Isobel&Neil joined the National Trust - when they tell other people, they say it's "for the children" but us ToyVoyagers know the truth - it's all about the photo opportunity!
The National Trust owns hundreds of very old and very beautiful properties and stretches of land in the UK - and where there's a view, there SHOULD be a TV.
This is Baddesley Clinton, and it's the first time that Isobel's been here too.
Baddesley Clinton is north of Warwick, and was probably built around the 13th Century. It is a fortified manor house, and is surrounded by a moat. I think we'll have to come back (luckily for me, Isobel plans to return tomorrow!) to get a few better shots of this.
One of the most interesting things about the house is that after the Reformation (when Catholicism was banned), the owners of Baddesley Clinton remained Catholics, and sheltered Catholic priests there. There are three 'Priest Holes' - secret hiding places where priests could hide from their pursuers, thus avoiding capture, arrest, and possible martyrdom.
You can't take pictures in the house, but we will try to get some evidence of this fact tomorrow!

So, after we had spent an hour or so touring the house, peeping into the secret hiding places, and playing on the replica priests' hideaway wall, it was time for a well-deserved rest, so we headed into the gardens.
Here's a good spot: carved into this large circular block of stone are three separate seating areas, each defined by carvings of animals - rabbits, boars and a fox.
Let me get my breath back.

And how could anyone resist seeing what's the other side of this bridge? Off we go!
