host mum's home, Switzerland - 12th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum
it's me again. A new TV has arrived.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/259/toyvoyagers002r.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/221/toyvoyagers003.jpg

A little rat named Twix.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/339/toyvoyagers016.jpg

He was still a bit sleepy when we took him this morning from its cover. We welcomed him kindly

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/233/toyvoyagers014.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/37/toyvoyagers008.jpg

and gave him a group hug.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/854/toyvoyagers009.jpg

As the big cat greeted him, he got the shock of his life.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/191/toyvoyagers010.jpg

But he has recovered. I think we will have lots of fun with him.

Bye
Sausi Karl

Hello mum,
on Friday have been something special for dinner. Cheese Fondue!

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/96/toyvoyagers028.jpg

With long forks we were allowed to stir in the hot cheese.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/818/toyvoyagers030.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/707/toyvoyagers032.jpg

It was fun and tasted very, very good.

Klosters-Davos, Switzerland - 14th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
Yesterday we made a trip to Klosters and Davos. The weather was cloudy and cold. We needed something to warm up. Thick skin and hot coffee was the right thing.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/821/pa130010.jpg

Klosters is a small village

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/528/pa130011.jpg

with hotels, hotels, hotels. Some pretty, some not. Then we drove on to Davos, the highest town in Europe. Host mum finds Davos ugly. Too many ugly buildings in this wonderful scene. This is the main street of Davos.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/834/pa130045t.jpg

Here you see the convention center.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/401/pa130040.jpg

It annually hosts the World Economic Forum. This is the ice hockey stadium.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/820/pa130033c.jpg

Every year between Christmas and New Year, the Spengler Cup is played.

Here we pose in front of the Hilton hotel.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/405/pa130044.jpg

The most beautiful thing we saw in Davos was a small lake.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/208/toyvoyagers005.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/197/toyvoyagers004g.jpg

And the police car in which I was allowed to sit down.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/607/pa130046.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/12/pa130047.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/7/pa130048.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/547/pa130049v.jpg

Because we all wanted to see the snow, host dad drove to the Flüela Pass.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/846/pa130054e.jpg

You can see how high it is?

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/839/toyvoyagers014.jpg

The snow was very close, but it melts during the day.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/528/pa130067.jpg

It's still a bit too warm.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/59/pa130058.jpg

Whoa, too warm. It was 3 degrees. The pass looks like a moonscape.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/835/pa130074.jpg

Only stones and boulders fields.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/842/pa130075.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/402/pa130083.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/197/pa130084.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/607/pa130086.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/152/pa130098.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/84/pa130099.jpg

Slightly lower down, we saw the most beautiful larch forests.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/193/pa130109p.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/826/pa130112.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/411/toyvoyagers017.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/339/toyvoyagers018q.jpg

Golden Autumn. This newly built bridge

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/585/pa130121.jpg

took us back home.

Hope you are well, miss you

Sausi Karl

Sorry for so much fingers, host mum has a new camera, she is learning.

Quinten, Switzerland - 19th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hello mum,
Today we were in Quinten,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180293_zps6a0dd47d.jpg

a small village on the northern shore of  Walensee. This really small village (about 60 people) can only be reached by boat or on foot.
We took the boat.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180191_zps937577dd.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180199_zps135bdbed.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180205_zps64f1c01e.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180208_zps12456f1f.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180212_zps6bf1d3b8.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180227_zpsb443eb5f.jpg

Due to its special location Quinten has an almost Mediterranean climate.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180234_zps5c6b6742.jpg

Besides wine,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180239_zps8b948860.jpg

there grow palms

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180245_zpscb39528a.jpg

and figs.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180242_zps66b11741.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180243_zps11e0c9c7.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180251_zps1ffedeb5.jpg

I found a snake.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180252_zpseef58be4.jpg

The Foehn wind blew very strong, almost 70 kilometers per hour.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180259_zps5f5c57a3.jpg

By the wind, it was very warm. Was it yesterday, 10 degrees in the afternoon, we had 26 today.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180260_zps2af1f745.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180266_zpsc643a77d.jpg

The distant view was wonderful.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180280_zps30daa6a4.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180281_zps2d48b615.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180282_zps5737cb17.jpg

We have enjoyed this afternoon.

Schwägalp, Switzerland - 21st October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
Yesterday we drove to Schwägalp.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200294_zps2ab5387a.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200297_zps339ae961.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200298_zpsa415bad4.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200299_zps7d2c2efc.jpg

This pass is 1300 meters high and is located at the foot of the Säntis. First we admired a old coach.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200300_zpsecec139b.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200301_zps7921e182.jpg

A special trip for great TV's.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200302_zps6dabe633.jpg

How funny. At 2,502.9 meters above sea level, Säntis is the tallest mountain in the Alpstein massif of northeastern Switzerland. The mountain is a highly visible landmark thanks to its exposed northerly location within the Alpstein massif.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200305_zps0b9de8d9.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200313_zps9bb49ab8.jpg

The panorama from the summit is spectacular. Six countries can be seen if the weather allows: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, and Italy. By a cable car you can reach the top.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200318_zps38807fdf.jpg

The so-called Säntismord (English: Säntismurder) happened in the winter of 1922. It refers to a crime in which the weather station keeper and his wife were murdered. The murder was only discovered because of missing weather reports on February 21. As a result of the missing reports, a search party was sent to Säntis, where they discovered the bodies. The prime suspect was shoemaker Gregor Anton Kreuzpointer, who committed suicide three weeks after the murder. The truth about this double murder hence remains unclear to this day. So creepy.  As we sat on the rocks came a jackdaw and wanted to get Twix. Host dad could still save him.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200322_zps25e96ad8.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200323_zps2d227fe7.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200325_zps4cab76a4.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200333_zps89ecab5f.jpg

Schwägalp is also very popular with motorcyclists. As you can see here.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200336_zps396a1f98.jpg

On our way home

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200345_zps59aba93e.jpg

we discovered an old stagecoach.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200347_zps5547322a.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200348_zps4b277437.jpg

For special occasions, it runs today.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200349_zps8b166f14.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200350_zps77569292.jpg

It is pulled by 4 horses. A hot air balloon, we have also seen.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200352_zps603bc7ea.jpg

It was a wonderful day.

Vaduz, Lichtenstein - 24th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hello all at home,

Our last trip was to the Principality of Lichtenstein.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130126_zps0527acd8.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130127_zpsa276348f.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130128_zps0d00c250.jpg

In Vaduz, the capital, we saw the town hall.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130137_zps0394c7c8.jpg

It was built in 1932/33. The castle was built in the 13th Century and serves as the residence of the royal family.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130144_zps7c48f685.jpg

Therefore it can not be visited. We saw a miniature of the castle.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130146_zpsfb2fab94.jpg

The Principality is also very famous for its stamps. In the pedestrian zone known examples are shown for road paving. Here you see the special stamp in honor of the wedding of the crown prince.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130147_zpsbb2da9a9.jpg

Lichtenstein is also known for its banks. Here is the National Bank.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130154_zpsd32a4d2a.jpg

This building is home to the parliament.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130155_zps7499e360.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130162_zpsed2d4d2d.jpg

On our way home we had a great view over the Rhine Valley.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130163_zpscf036c9a.jpg

Best regards

Lichtensteig, Switzerland - 28th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi all,
When we woke up this morning our host mum said we should look out the window.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280365.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280367.jpg

Snow! Over night snow had fallen and it still snows. We immediately put on our hats and scarves and went out onto the balcony.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280372.jpg

What a beauty.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280375.jpg

Meomie has never seen snow. She was almost mad with joy. After we played a few times in the snow,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280379.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280381.jpg

our host mum called back to the apartment. They pulled us out of the wet clothes and grabbed us in a warm blanket.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280383.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280384.jpg

Was that a fun.

Kisses, Sausi Karl

we had a great Halloween night. When it was dark we put on our costumes and headed off. Trick or Treat. We saw spooky pumpkins and other scary creatures.

Lichtensteig, Switzerland - 2nd November 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,

Today I had to say goodbye to my friends. My journey continues to Vienna to Carolin's mum. As a farewell host mum has baked cookies.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB020470.jpg

They were wonderful.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB020472.jpg

I ate quite a lot. You never know when there is something to eat again. All hugged me and wished me a good trip.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB020468.jpg

My jacket is comfortable and host mum gave me sweets,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB020469.jpg

Bruchsal, Germany - 28th March 2013

By: fam-united

Hello from Bruchsal,

I just arrived in a big package together with some other toyvoyagers. I'm close to my home now, because Bruchsal is only about 20 km from Karlsruhe. So now I'm looking forward to some updates here and then I'm curious, where I will go next.

Bye, Sausi Karl

Bruchsal, Germany - 13th April 2013

By: fam-united

The weather here is more than terrible. Most of the time it is raining and if it isn't, it surely the sky is grey.

So we had been very happy today, when we looked out of the window and saw the blue sky with sunshine. We decided to go on a walk to the river Saalbach, which flows through Bruchsal.

Here we took a photo of a restaurant, which has a nice beer garden.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3822/8922686980_ddf67cf2e0.jpg

Close to the river, which is on the right side of this photo, we saw this nice house.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3683/8922070237_939d65d308.jpg

We were still standing at the same place, when we took the photo of the river Saalbach.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7345/8922068975_2344618e81.jpg

Then we walked along the river.
